Family › Re: My Brother-In-Law Dips His Hands Inside My Pot Of Soup by adanny01(m): 10:56am On Feb 06, 2020
Iwantpeace:
I Need Advice About My Brother Inlaw Attitude

Hello good morning Nairalanders. I have been a guest and a member of this forum for quite some time now. I have equally seen and learnt from the inputs of many issues brought here especially family one. So I decided to create this new account.

I am a new married woman, my marriage is barely 3 months. Before we got married I and my husband agreed that visitors will not stay longer than 2 weeks in our home. Although he begged me that his immediate younger brother whom has been staying with him will stay for a while or comes to stay with us anytime he is on holidays.

I reluctantly agreed just for peace to reign. He shuttles between our home and my SIL homes for now. To cut the long story short, prior to when we got married that I go visit my then fiancé, anytime I cook this guy is fond of dipping his hands into my pot of soup or food without asking me and this is what I am not comfortable with and I really don't like it. I have sister in law too and I have sisters too anytime I go visiting I don't dip my hands into their pot of food without their consent I see it as something disrespectful.

Again, I couldn't talk then because I feel he may say 'ha dem never marry her she dun de get attitude', now he's continued the same attitude. Yesterday, I made food for the house, dished his own, he ate and slept off when he woke up late in the night he went to my pot again and spoilt my dishing spoon in the process. meanwhile I have not dished out my husband's meal.

Coincidentally, my husband came in from work at that moment and I was going to the kitchen to serve him his meal when I saw him doing what I don't like. When he saw me he said 'this spoon dun spoil '. I kept quiet. I later discussed with my husband, told him that I am not happy with the way his brother is entering my kitchen anyhow n because I am someone that don't like keeping things in my mind I like saying it out to free myself. When I told my husband he said we will talk in the morning.

This morning, the first thing this brother in law of mine was to go straight to the kitchen to look for something to eat. This is someone that will eat and keep the dishes, whenever he is around I don't stay in the living room anymore, my room and my phone is my companion because we stay in a one bedroom flat for now. He's giving me this attitude of it's my brother's house so I can do as I please, when he comes back he expects me to greet him first. I am not saying he cannot stay but my main issue is that he is tempering with my kitchen and trying to flex muscles with me.

Pls how do I handle this issue with my husband amicably because up till now he hasn't said anything and it's bothering me?
You want peace but you dont know how to get.

You cant get peace by telling your husband.

Put yourself in your husband's shoes. Do you expect your hubby to call his brother aside tell him "hey, my wife says she doesn't like the way you fiddle with her kitchen". Your husband will certainly not do that because it will send a clear and wrong message he is not welcomed to the house.

On the other side, if your BIL says, "the spoon dun spoil" and you reply, "you should have called me to dish food for you (with a sarcastic smile)". You would have killed 2 birds with one stone.

You clearly donot want your BIL around, if you did, he will be a close friend such that you will not hide in your room with your phone as the only companion.

If you were more cozy with your BIL you will be able to tell him you prefer to serve him anytime than he helping himself. Trust me, he knows you are not fond of him and has needs you cannot satisfy. Unless you can satisfy is appetite without complaining, you will have difficulty in keeping him out of the kitchen.

Besides, who is older btw u and BIL that you expect him to greet you first. If you are indeed older, someone who stepped in should be told, "welcome home". If you came back and met your husband at home, don't you expect him to say "welcome" regardless of age, status or any other thing?

I tell my wife or children "welcome"(with hugs and kisses) when they return from school. Most times they are tired and don't feel like talking. I noticed if i dont greet her she doesn't too when she meets at home.

Why don't you buy the V6 version of those cars so that we can all use you to get concrete reason to buy or not buy it? cheesy

But seriously.... There are two people I know who drive the V6 versions of a Honda baby boy... Aside them both having recurring gearbox problems, the vehicles are trouble free as much as I can tell smiley... I can't honestly assume that all V6 baby boys or other V6 accords arr like that sha.... But with those my niggas who drive the V6 accord, I have enough reason to avoid any V6 accord...

But to be honest, the V6 baby boy handles and accelerates far better than the 4 plugs version..... But last last, man shall not live by handling and acceleration alone grin
I have heard nasty tales about the 2008 Accord V6. Its supposed to be a no go area and its engine is on the expensive collection.

The engine design for the 2008 V6 has very cool features and very good on fuel efficiency with its VCM that shuts down 3 cylinders. I heard the system is prone to failure and you know Naija mechanics.

And the Accord 2.0 is no no for its low power, scarce and expensive engine.

So OP should stick to the 2.4L engine if eventually the Accord is the one.
Car Talk › Re: Which Should I Choose Between 2007-2010 Toyota Camry Or Honda Accord? by adanny01(m):
Camry 2007-12
Accord 2008-12

The Camry 2011-12 has LED rear lights while the Accord has the lights on boot.

From my experience;

1. Camry transmission failure is rampant (associated with bad transmission oil) while the Accord's transmission is rock solid. The 2nd issue here is that the Camry's transmission is more expensive than the Accord.

2. Both engines are good but the Accord's engine over time experiences more crank shaft wear and i think is more expensive. The Accord's engine killer i learnt is the catalytic converter. All you can avoid by proper maintenance and reacting promptly to the expensive P1420 (catalyst efficiency below threshold). Also the Camry engine is known for shorting engine oil. Toyota engines will not forgive you if you drive without engine oil but Honda can survive the KO.

3. Camry doesn't fail boll joint but an accord will with serious abuse. Telltale signs will tell you when your ball joint is about to fail. (Squeaky sound while turning the steering and just before failure, steering becomes stiff and doesn't return to straight position).

4. Camry's AC is great but will fail sooner than later then frequent repairs will become a constant. Accord's AC can last the car's lifetime.

5. We all know Accord's are sportier in handling while Camry's are tuned to comfy. So City driving, Camry will be better while on the highway, Accord will be better.

My choice would be the Accord but your choice will be based on your preference. What sets the Camry behind for me is the interior and exterior design. If you are that person that doesn't even know when your car is due for service, you are a Camry guy but if you keep a service schedule, you will be good with the Accord.

Nigeria or Nigerians are not the problem of this country. The Nigerian law and constitution is the problem. The next people responsible for the lack of progress
of Nigeria are the legislature. They are responsible for fixing the loopholes in the constitution but will not do it because it will be like lighting their own tails.

By the time the Legislature fix the Constitution, the Judiciary has no option than to do the right thing and the executive will flow the same.

Good morning friends.

Please how can I politely stop my ex from visiting my home?

Yesterday was the third time my husband returns from work to meet my ex in our house.

After the incident that happened between us, my ex started coming closer to my husband and they became distance friends.
My husband invited him to our child's naming ceremony and that was how he got to know our house.

Eversince then he has been visiting and I am not comfortable with it.
I told if he must come he should come when my husband is around.

Please what should I do?
Tell your husband you are not comfortable with him around too often.

Posterity will be kind on you afterwards.

Those who invested on the bikes and keke will lose heavily. Demand for used bicycles will increase while the huge number of bikes and keke from Lagos will increase pressure on neighboring states.

Can I do ringing for my Toyota Highlander v6 2004 that is allowing oil to sip into the combustion chamber, wetting ignition plugs and putting stress on the fuel pump?
Waiting for quick response. Thanks.
There are 3 major ways oil gets to the combustion chamber.

Worn out rings
Worn out sleeve
Bad valve stem seal.

Worn out sleeve is the worst of them. You have to determine which issue is the one you face. Some engines are cheap and are not worth the sleeving trouble while some are so expensive that sleeving gives you a cheap means to have the engine running. Getting a good machinist is also a challenge.

My wife is a teacher with the state ministry. She has spent 13yrs on the job and has risen to salary grade level 12.

She interviewed and was successful for the state college of education lecturing job.

The issue is:

1. The COE entry level pay is the same as her current pay. However the current job has had its new minimum wage added while the COE have not had the increase yet.

2. The COE promotion doesn't come every 3 years like in the ministry where she will be a director in the next 12years.

3. As an academic staff in the COE, at a point, promotion will depend on her qualification. This means she will have to go for 2nd degree and even Phd to climb to the top.

4. Her current school is 2km from home while the COE is 32km away (95% of the lecturers don't stay within 5km of the school).

5. She has her 1st degree in chemistry but has always taught physics because of her physics/chemistry NCE.

My wife doesn't want to go but some people think she should.

I dont want her to lose a good opportunity.

You are talking from the point of view of plenty ignorance.
A nurse can bring in consumables and stuff you can only use once like needles &syringes, gloves, gauze, medications,IV fluids etc. These are also mostly stuff you can sell.
But they rarely bring equipments like sphigs, thermometers cos those ones don't easily get spoilt and are not something that could be used to generate money even if you want to abi they'll charge you separately for checking your blood pressure or temperature?
2:You could contract infections from these type of equipment easily as they could easily be stained by blood and other body fluids so ppl rarely bring theirs to the hospital.
For stuff like sphig, they'll rather buy and donate if its slowing down their work than take it back and forth home after using it on hundreds of patients daily.
Imagine taking home d sphig you used at work in this era of lassa fever and maybe your father in law comes around and begs you to check his BP or your child starts playing with it and puts it in his mouth?
And these diseases are always flying around in hospitals, you never know what's gonna happen next.
Just about the bolded, have you not seen people going round the market with a weight scale and blood pressure equipment? How did you arrive at the conclusion where a thermometer cannot be used to make money?

Are you new to Nigeria?

This is the most fair comment on this post so far......
The writer is 99% likely to be a nurse. This is a cheap way of getting public sympathy. Bringing a personal sphygmomanometer to the ward is the least likely of event. The ACNO in question might have wanted using her position to stop the guy from using the sphygmomanometer or the guy may think it’s the Hospital’s property. The cuff of a sphygmomanometer is the last thing u will use if really one wants to inflict trauma on someone...... So it’s likely a lie.
There is likely a misunderstanding btw them and the dr might have overreacted. This, the writer exaggerated in his post.

If you've been in a hospital setting even as a patient relative, you'd know this story has 99% chances of being lies or extreme exaggeration.
How can the house officer get angry at som1 who tried to remind him about documentation, something that could save his license and life in case of litigation?Does that make sense?
Then, which health worker brings his/her personal equipments to work in a busy hospital like that?
Not that its totally impossible but we all know its very risky cos you could contract one of the numerous diseases flying around in the hospital and send home to your family and loved ones.
Now imagine bringing your personal sphig to d hospital and using it on suspected lassa fever patients, skin infections, etc and taking the same equipment home to your personal space?
Health workers rarely do that. They'd rather contribute money to buy and donate if the ward lacks such equipments than use their personal stuff.
A house officer has a lot to learn from the nurses as d house job is their first practical experience,so he typically defers to d nurses soo soo much especially as most of them are older in age
For eg,your seniors come to rounds,do their own parts, give instructions on the rest and leave.
If you cannot access a vein to collect that blood sample, it is a nurse that will save d day for you or maybe a fellow house officer though most times they are greenhorns like you.
If you can't set that IV line,it is d nurse.
If you can't pass that catheter,it is d nurse.
So typically,d house officer is very meek with the nurses, you don't even know who is married to your consultants or other seniors so you wouldn't even want to talk back for this reason alone.
If this incidence really was b/w a house officer and a senior nurse, I can wager my last dime this story is outright fabrication cos the senior nurses usu have this mentality of "how can this small boy I can give birth to be commanding me" meanwhile d issue in contention is part of the work govt pays them to do.
I stopped reading somewhere before the middle when most of the things you mentioned are ideal situations.

And the OP that posted this defamatory article, Are you aware that the said nurse slapped the doctor on 20th of December, 2019?.

Are you aware that this case has been settled by the hospital management?

Are you aware that the nurse in question has denied granting any interview or asked anybody to post such write-up on her behalf ?

The Nairaland mod that pushed this to front page without verification should do justice to push rebuttal statement once it is released.

I put it to you that you are a doctor, for this matter to get under your skin the way you sound pissed.

You are quick to say the Nurse also slapped the Dr., that means there is some truth to the story that a Dr. probably harrassed and abused a Nurse several times and the Nurse retaliated at least once.

Are you aware that Nairaland doesn't need someone's permission to tell a story?

Are you aware that despite the court trashing the cases were Buhari has been accused of not having an O'level certificate, the Buhari certificate saga has hit front page countless times.

By your last statement, Seun should have been in Jail long long long ago. Linda Ikeji would not have had a house in Banana Island.

This judgment is even worse than thought. Guardian obtained a copy of Uzodinma’s appeal. Read it below. This is the SOLE basis for prompt replacement of a sitting governor with a 4th-place finisher! This is the judgment some people are spending sleepless nights defending as great.
YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!

“The Guardian obtained a certified-true-copy of the record of the appeal filed at the Supreme Court by Uzodinma and APC... which shows that there were mathematical and factual inconsistencies which the apex court ignored.

In the records tendered at the tribunal, Uzodinma, from pages 9 to 27 of his petition, drew a table of votes allocation which he claimed were the figures obtained from the duplicate copies of Forms EC8A handed over to his party agents at the 388 polling units, the results of which were excluded in the overall result of the election.

From the table he compiled from the 388 polling units, there were 252,452 registered voters, out of which 213,695 voted for APC, and 1,903 voted for Ihedioha.

But the table does not indicate either the total number of accredited voters or the number of invalid votes, if any, and the votes allocated to the remaining 68 candidates that contested the election, aside from Uzodinma and Ihedioha.

Also, the duplicate Forms EC8A tendered by the PW54, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rabiu Hussein, showed that there were no fewer than six polling units where more votes were recorded above the registered number of voters.

For instance, on figure number 69 which shows votes cast at Eziama/Okpala (Umualum Village Square, Eziama), the total number of registered voters was 492, whereas the table shows that the APC scored 819 votes and PDP scored 7 votes, meaning that 334 more votes than the registered voters were recorded, apart from the votes polled by the other candidates at the election that were not shown on the table.

Similarly, on page 22 of the petition referencing polling unit 282, the number of registered voters was put at 591, whereas the tabulation shows that APC polled 586 votes and PDP nine votes, indicating a total of four votes higher than the registered number of voters. This, again, excluded the votes scored by the other candidates.

On the same page 22 of the record, at the polling unit 285 (Obudi/Aro, Central Assembly Square, Unusable 11) with 449 registered voters, APC was credited with 780 votes and PDP with four votes, leaving a total of 335 votes higher than the actual number of registered voters.

Figures obtained from page 79 of the record of appeal under item 384 show that APC scored 526 votes, while PDP was credited with two votes, and the total votes cast was put at 526, indicating two votes higher than the total number registered voters in the area.”
I stopped reading at the bolded assuming what follows will be as u reasonable as the bolded.

When you are a party to an election, what you concern yourself is your votes. What concerns you is that your party's votes are entered correctly and transmitted intact to the Ward, LG and state collation centres.

Number of accredited voters is a data that belongs to INEC which is used to checkmate electoral fraud.

When the court asked INEC and Ihedioha's lawyers to prove that the result brought by Uzodinma was fake, they should have raised that point with facts. Bring card readers for such PU's to proof all you are trying to say. But the lawyers didn't provide anything. They didn't provide one single evidence.

You are bring this fact to Nairaland, are those lawyers fools that they didn't bring those facts to the court?

The truth is, what is most important is that fraud was committed with evidence, the defense had no proof that fraud was not committed.

Lastly, the court in judgement adopted the entire results Uzodinma brought since there was no evidence against it. Any inconsistencies with the result is INEC's responsibility. It was proven that a large part of votes were unaccounted for, that is ehat you should focus on.

All your issues are petty and misleading.

There is no free lunch anywhere.

Be rest assured that Nigeria will be paying back soon enough, one way or the other.

Chinese recolonization of Africa is real o.
I totally agree with you.

The Chinese are smart with this thing they do.

They give a country a loan, take it back as a contract for a project. While executing the project, they make a huge profit from it by charging the country construction profits plus loan profit at the same time. Say the construction profit is 25% of the contract and the loan profit is another 25%, that makes a 50% profit on the loan sum.

To make matters worst, they will not even have to disburse 100% of the loan, what they actually disburse is 37.5% while Nigeria brings 12.5% upfront for the project.

Say the dam cost $1billion, $750million is a loan with a 25% interest. Nigeria owes China $750+187.5million=$937.5m. But Nigeria needs counterpart funding of 25% so the actual cost to Nigeria for the dam is $937.5+250m=$1.187.5b. Meanwhile China will make 25% of $1b as construction profit as well as 187.5m as loan interest. Add the profit of $250m + loan interest $187.5m =$437.5m.

China makes $437.5m profit on $750m while the citizens get jobs and earn money outside the profit amount.

Also the only money they need to disburse in executing the project is $750-250m=$500m. They will recover over 100% when the loan is due.

Highway robbery indeed!

This is the 3rd dam on this "desert" River Kaduna all in Niger state. If you dont know, River Kaduna is the main tributary of River Niger all the way from the hills of Plateau state. Shiroro is upstream of this dam while Kainji is downstream of this dam on the same River Kaduna.

A dam location is chosen from a series of natural occuring geographical features which you will not easily find anywhere but where it is, Niger state. Take it elsewhere, and flood will consume the land and people. Dam River Niger in Enugu and see the disaster that will unfold. The Mambila dam is on the tributary of the River Benue.

5 main features of a dam location is high current River, a large upstream reservoir area, a high gradient between upstream and downstream, 2 adjacent hills to the river and a very good environmental impact assessment report.

Everytime you submit your WAEC certificate, it must be examined for authentication right.

Why do you think result sheets are clearly labeled and have security features?

And you think Ihedioha is a fool to forge a document and take to court. Do you know that act can put him to jail worsening his case.

If his documents are fake, the police witness documents that corroborated are also fake. Come to think of it, where is the original.

You obviously did not read the respondent attorney’s submission that the documents were not even properly signed and were smudgy and incomplete. A simple cursory EXAMINATION would have revealed all that.
Don’t you think that at least that should have been done before rushing ahead to replace a seating governor with the appellant based SOLEY on those same documents??!!
Intrigues of lawyers, that was all it was. You cant condemn something that the court found original without presenting counter evidence.

Isnt this the reason Buhari still has a certificate when the outcry wants to say different.

The court is not about what lawyers say, its about facts and evidence.

See, the way it goes in law and in court is this: you say a thing and provide evidence in support and it is taken as proved unless your opponent denies what you say and provides something to discredit your evidence. Neither INEC nor Ihedioha did so. The result in law is that Uzodinma has proved his case. In the law of evidence it is called the burden of proof.
To be specific, Uzodinma produced Duplicate original of the results, 28 witnesses and the police witness corroborated. Uzodinma's case was considered proven by the court.

The onus was on Ihedioha, PDP and INEC to provide proof that the documents were fake. They failed to do that.

The fact was that the lawyers to the defendants knew that the appellant's documents were original. If they submit any document that will contradict those original copies, they could be setting themselves up for committing a crime of electoral fraud. So they simply didnot produce any document. The lower courts played to the tune of the defendants lawyers intrigues.

The problem of this country is that someone or some people have escaped with the crime of electoral fraud. Ihedioha is free, INEC is free, PDP is free when one or all of them colluded to commit electoral fraud. In saner climes, that will be the focus at this moment. We need to find out how, when and who removed those votes, prosecute the culprits and amend the electoral process accordingly to forestall future occurance. The judgement means an electoral fraud was committed but its not relevant since justice was delivered, the justice is not enough, it ought to be pursued to the end.

Next elections, another person will do same thing and test it in court. When the fraud is not our concern, it will keep happening till we focus on it.

Mention another instance in Nigerian judicial history where the SC ruled against all lower courts AND INEC itself in other to immediately remove a seating governor - all based on clearly questionable, uncollaborated, and unauthenticated documents supplied solely by the plaintiff himself!!
Mention a case where an electoral body that oversaw elections but when asked in court to produce the original result sheet, they didn't! Mention a case where over 200k votes were missing but no evidence on why they are fake or missing.

"Uncollaborated"and unauthenticated documents you say, Uzodinma produced duplicate original copies, they dont need authentication. He produced 28 witnesses and the police were subpoenaed which they collaborated more than 80% of the results Uzodinma brought.

The lower courts made serious errors in judgement and the Supreme court clearly gave reasons why the lower courts where wrong and even cited cases as precedencial evidence.

Pls find the judgement, read and absolve yourself of ignorance. Ignorance is a choice on this case.

Any sane mind will know 7 supreme court Justices can never be compromised at the same time. Agreed those results might have been forged but the onus of proof lies on the respondents. Like its said; He who allege must prove. The supreme court only worked with facts presented before her. Supreme court judges don't dwell on sentiments and emotions.
I think it is the other way round.

INEC, PDP and the Ihedioha lawyers all could not produce one single result sheet. It tells me they colluded to manipulate the result and were afraid to present it to the supreme court so that they will not be found guilty of tampering with the results.

I just read the 45pages of the judgement.

You need to read it and stop sharing ignorance on Nairaland.

INEC called Uzodinma's Duplicate original copies fake but didn't even bring the originals. The police were subpoenaed to provide their own Duplicate original and they did while INEC didn't provide even one original nor called a single witness.

To me ihedioha should hold his lawyers for deliberate sabotage ,his legal team and inec's legal teams are the biggest criminals in this case.
Hope was smart
The supreme court was factual they played by the book
Ihedioha's and inec's legal teams are either dumb or corrupt but my instincts said the later is the right option here.
Fine.

so Uzodimma who introduced teh new documents have no burden to proof it is realhuh huh huh huh
Buhari has no certificate, who has burden of proof, Buhari or the person who says Buhari has no certificate?

Uzodinma says his votes were not counted he gave his reasons, the burden of proof that his reasons are fake are on the person who says they are fake, thats INEC.

did Uzodimma provide witneses to prove the elections held in 388 polling units? how many witneeses did he call? Did he sufficiently prove that elections held in those units!!!!
Was that in contention? Uzodinma's case was simple, my results were not counted, court count them, these my evidence. INEC said the evidence is fake but didn't provide proof. At what point do you want Uzodinma to proof election held. Uzodinma is the appellant, his case wasn't based on whether election held or not. His case, is based on the fact that duly counted votes were excluded. To proof that, he just had to provide the polling unit result sheet, police provide theirs and even if INEC calls it forged, it doesn't matter.

Come to think of it, do you think Uzodinma will forge result sheets and take to the supreme court? That could put him behind bars and keys thrown in the sea.
