Me I know deep inside of you, you can't resist Toyota's awesomeness.tongue
Yeah, Honda is cheaper to maintain that is why I labelled it a poor man's car. grin
And ohh.. Pontiac vibe is nice, but I don't like the shape. Any thing compact sedan is a turn off and I didn't even know it's hard to maintain.
Let me tell you who I am.

I won't buy a Nissan, except for Frontier. If I would buy a Benz, it would be nothing less than 2008, specifically C, E or M class. I dont know jack about BMW. For Toyota, I wont buy a 2003-6 Corolla or Camry for obvious reasons, I prefer the Hilander against the Pilot. I prefer 2008 Corolla and above against Civic.

What I am saying is that I am not a brand specific guy. I go with what catches my eye and what rocks my boat.

I like the 2003-6 Vibe against the Matrix and I like the 2007-9 Matrix against the Vibe.

I like a Venza against Crosstour.

I am not a die hard fan of anything.

I prefer Buhari to Jonathan but am not an APC fan even though PDP irritates me.

I am not there nor here.

I love Benz but I agree its overrated.

Hi bro. I did the same over here in d south.
From 4k to 9k bill, phed now increase to 35k.
I wrote to phed and copied Nerc. Nerc responded and told phed to follow up within 10days.

After few days the phed rep called for a face to face chat. The rep said that the PPM is not free anymore but now sold and supplied by MAP (private). The ppm one phase meter is 40k (for 3phase, its 72k). At d end, the rep gave me a load form to write down the load we use at home.

What do u suggest?
I think the formalities is acceptable. Fill the form and submit. Even though this NERC should squash the load estimate but you to want to miss any opportunity.

Yes, Single phase is about 40k and 3phase is above 60k.

I am driving a Toyota this moment. Should I spit on it? grin

Meanwhile, I excurted a friend to pick a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. Sweet car, but as normal with Toyota, we are coughing out almost 50k to change shocks.

My opinion is still that Honda is cheaper to maintain especially for the poor and civil servants. You may not agree but this is what I know, as far as experience has shown me.
Family › Re: What I Learnt From A Wedding Anniversary That Could Help Save Marriages Today by adanny01(m): 6:55am On Feb 27, 2020
Mzflexydeeva:
Over the weekend I had the privilege to attend a couple’s wedding anniversary. It was over 40 years of marriage. While the couple and kids danced and had merry I kept an observant eye trying to figure out within me how 2 strangers managed to live that long together looking all happy and equally having their kids all around them looking like this one big family.

Then something happened. This in itself helped me conclude that indeed for a marriage to be successful a woman had 99% of the hard work to do and this is also guiding my conclusion in this write up.

It was time for dance, dance, dance and lots of people came out to spray the couple just to appreciate them. Since I was close to the family, I was part of the money picking committee. In fact I was the coordinator. At the end of it all I counted the total money realized and was about to hand over to the daughter of the celebrant when she whispered.

“Who do I hand over the money to? My mum or my dad”?

I quickly answered your mum of course. The men don’t know how to manage money more so women are better at financial matters. She laughed and looked at me saying “I would have given my mum but I know she will give it to my dad who may just keep it all to himself so I have decided to share it into 2 half and give them both their share. I was amazed at such wisdom as I walked away to my seat thinking how fair that decision their daughter had made was. Later that day I called my friend to congratulate her again and praise her for being so wise but to my surprise she had something else to say.

Just as I finished praising her she said, I did as I thought was just for my parents but to my greatest surprise as I handed over the money to my mum and explained to her she rejected it. I heard myself shout “what” over the phone. Just then my friend said, my mum refused half the money and asked me to hand everything over to my dad at this point my voice could be heard by others around me. See me see wahala, what’s my own? Na me get money?

Then my friend continued, my mum said she wasn’t going to be a part if that sharing. Give it to your dad she said, what ever he gives me I would take and if he gives me nothing so be it. He is my husband after all. On hearing this I told my girl I would call her back as I need to check on somethings.

This really got me thinking... what is happening to marriages today?

Now I am summarizing some of the things destroying our marriages inspired by the woman in this encounter.

Love is not enough to take that life decision called marriage. Marriage should be a decision carefully thought out. Not something rushed into out of peer pressure or social intimidation. Not a decision made by friends or family but one for which one has carefully sat down to weigh the cons and pros. Having said that, it is still scary to see the level of broken homes arising each day.
Divorce is not a solution to marital problems but in itself can cause more harm than good. Although I am not a fan of divorce but when sanity and safety is at stake I fully Stan.

1. Finance: most times the issues caused by finances in a home is out of greed, social validation and peer pressure. A woman should understand her husband’s financial capability and live within such. Do not be tempted to live like your mates are living resulting in unhealthy pressure of your spouse. Men should be hard working and proactive. Do not be the type that believes I own my wife and all she owns. The easiest way to loose a woman’s respect is to misuse her finances.

2. Patience: This is by far the life one of marriages. Patience from either man or woman. Patience is what will keep you when she is nagging, what will keep you when he starts keeping late nights

3. Understanding: To be able to live together, there has to be a certain level of understanding of which once the understanding is compromised the marriage can as well be over.

4. Love: what exactly is Ione? Love isn’t what keeps 2 people together. Love is what brings them together

5. Forgiveness: once you have the spirit of forgiveness, your marriage is bound to sail with less friction. Forgiveness is so important in marriage that if partners can’t forgive each other they can not be cohabiting. Infidelity, disrespect, lack of control and all what may become irrelevant once the spirit of forgiveness visits you.

6. Interpersonal relationships : this involves the level of friendship. Once you consider your partner a friend you will never feel cheated rather you will see you both as equals not also neglecting the place of each one.

7. Sensitivity to the feelings of your partner: the ability to tell what your partner is feeling is a special gift. A gift that allows you to leave in harmony with everyone. The feelings of your partner should never be taken for granted. Women like it when you can tell at every point how emotionally stable they are. Men love to be seen and treated like babies. Do it and when it’s time to be happy, your home will know no bounds for love and happiness.

Let’s help save marriages and teach people to remain married unless in cases of domestic violence by either party.
Thank God you learnt all that. If it were my parents, my father may not collect it. He will direct you to my mother. She manages the home front and everything else so what ever he needs, he will get it from her. She will also give him an account of what she did with the money.

Just like you listed, understanding is key. Every thing in a marriage depends on the understanding of each spouse.

You cant go to them straight. You have to write your complain to the disco and after 15days if no reply, you write to the state NERC office, if no result, then proceed to NERC HQ.

There is a procedure for that. Alot of people passed through the procedure and got the attention of NERC thats why they took this step.

This headline is misleading. The 1800 naira is for customers who consume less than 50kwh and are on the R1 tariff. The R1 tariff is for very low income households.

Now to the issue of capping power use, it means that, for instance a residential customer in Shomolu Business Undertaking will be billed 321Kwh at the end of the month of he uses a 3phase 4 wire connection. The bill will this be 321*21.80 = 6997.80 +7.5% VAT = 7522.64.
NB. Cost of tariff in Ikeja Electric for R2T is 21.80 and it differs from one Disco to another.

I think NERC is trying to force the hands of the disco to meter asap. Newsflash, one Disco conducted a POC to meter all customers on its 11KV feeder and the Substation DTRs. At the end of the day, revenue did not improve owing to technical losses which would require heavy investments over a long time.

Discos are in for it.
R1 are to pay N4/kwh and capped at N200 per customer.

What do you mean by innocent consumers.....your likes that carry cutlass to chase away the disco technicians when they come to disconnect you for default.

I have made my point...the discos should be left alone to make their profits the way they deem fit...if you don't like it switch to renewable energy or gaan buy yourself a lister.
Your suggestion is the height of irresponsibility.

If I as a customer didn't bypass meter, should I pay 3 times my power consumption because my neighbor bypassed his meter and didn't pay.

It is disco's responsibility to catch my neighbor not pass his bill to me.

Dont forget, when my house was built, I had to buy 5 poles, wires and accessories to bring electricity to my house. A year later, our transformer got burnt, after spending 6months without electricity, we finally contributed money in millions to buy a new one and had to pay their staff 300k to come and install it.

Then you come here and say this rubbish.

This is interesting. First of all, the N1,800 written there is false. It depends on your disco and your Business Unit. The N1,800 is for rural customers (those on R1 tariff).

Will NERC also ask the transmission company to cap the power provided? Or the discos will do it arbitrarily and cap the power they recieve under so called load shedding? Time will tell. What of the fraudulent meters that some Nigerians are manufacturing? Who will bear the loss?
You are right, not everyone gets to pay N1,800.

That was the reason I followed up with the order of NERC for each specific business district.

Those on R1 are to pay N4/kwh to a cap of N200.

Answer to the bolded, NO.

There is a reason to why NERC did that and as a disgruntled customer myself, I am very very happy about the order. Before NERC made this order, there were thousands of complaints on unrealistic estimation by Discos and also their complete lack of interest to meter their customers. Dateline for metering was shift several times but no progress from discos.

The meter distribution failure have been intentionally frustrated by the Discos because they know overestimation of customers covers energy theft and several other factors affecting their revenue.

Overestimation is transferring the burden of Discos to the loyal customer which is very wrong. Among some excuses of the Discos is inaccessible compounds with dogs and locked gates. This order settles that part. The order specifically says they should install meters in those compounds and if they are prevented access to such compounds in any way, they should disconnect the customer until a meter is installed. In the mean time, over billing is prohibited.

They also spelled out the method they used in finding the average which they used in getting the rates for the fixed unmetered rates. Mind you, there are enough meters on ground but Discos have been holding the up for the benefit if estimated billing.

Am not a lawyer but they always say, "ignorance of the law is not an excuse". The fact that there is a case on the house and you didn't know about it before or after buying it means that what ever agreement you had with the seller depends on the outcome of the judgement. I believe you can approach the court with your lawyer and ask to join the case as a party.

Nonsense!...NERC just want to finally kill off the discos, even those with the metering units still shunt the lines, leaving just the lighting units hooked to the meter while connecting the heavy appliances to the bypassed loop.....how do they want these guys to remain solvent for heaven's sake.

Power theft is a serious problem unless that is fixed by all stakeholders, estimated billings should be left alone cos that's how the discos break even.
Does that justify unrealistic estimated billing.

In 2 months, by bill moved from 90kwh to 450kwh. Can you justify it? From N2500 to almost N12,000. Now my bill averages N8,500.

The bills was just robbery. Meanwhile, if you apply and pay for meter, it will take months. You even have to pay bribe to get meter. My friend in Lagos complained he paid 12k monthly but when he got prepaid meter and loaded 10k, it took him 8months to finish.

Now they will be eager to install meter if not, they will lose.

when i was in Ghana upon thunderstorm and rain fall the light did not blink.
Just like i said before, our distribution infrastructures are bad.

Since discos leave customers with the responsibility of buying transformers and distributing light to their locations, alot of substation and sharp practices have been employed by customers to cheaply get electricity to their domain. Wire bridging during storms is one of the main problems with low tension wires.

If wires are underground, I assure you even lightening will not cause electricity failures.

Na wa oh! does thunderstorm or lightening trip off power in your area during rainy season or the light remains stable throughout?
It remains depending on a lot of factors.

A substation always has sophisticated equipment to trip off automatically when there is lightening. Secondly, substation operators have operating manuals and instruments that guide them in deciding when to switch off due to wind, temperature and other things if the system doesn't.

Most times, we see light trips off a miliseconds before lightening strikes or when rain turns to a windstorm.

Windstorm usually causes overhead wires to short circuit leading to failures.

In general, we get more electriicity during rain season. I assume due to lower transformer and cable temperatures.

It isn't awesome. The discos would now supply more power to areas that generate huge revenue at the expense of the masses.
I don't think so. The challenges of power distribution still exist. Those areas you think will now get more light may not have efficient power supply facilities such as transformers and proper network cables. They are still limited to their network capacity so cannot improve even if they want to.

For example, my area is close to a 132kV substation so we get power directly from the 33kV network which is far more stable and only control from the main substation. But the main town has an injection substation which converts the 33kV from the substation to 11kV which 95% of the town uses. That 33/11kV transformer is overloaded so the entire town operates on a ration even when enough power comes via the 132kV.

So even if all the areas using 33kV have faulty transformers, the main 33/11kV transformer will not take more load so the town cannot see more light.

Its the same problem all over the country.

I felt relieved with this news.

Disco's have since realized that electricity consumers are smart especially with new power saving electric equipment allowing consumers to pay far less when metered than when arbitrary estimate are made.

Disco's resort to giving their agents target just like banks do, in other to meet up, agents use bureaucratic means to hinder delivery of meters then over estimate bills of consumers who have the will to keep up with payments.

Read the news

Amidst sustained outrages on over billing, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has barred the 11 Distribution Companies (DisCos) from charging residential customers above an average of N1,800 monthly until they are metered.

In an Order 197 signed by the Chairman, Prof. James Momoh and the Commissioner, Legal, Licencing & Compliance, Dafe Akpeneye, NERC said the new order repeals the 2012 estimated billing regulation effective since last Thursday.

It also said electricity consumers have grown from five million in 2012 to over 10m by December 2019. But about 52 percent of them are not metered and are placed on estimated billing by the DisCos.

It said the Meter Assets Provider (MAP) was initiated to increase the metering of consumers within three years. “The Estimated Billing Methodology Regulation is hereby repealed and shall cease to have effect as a basis for computing the consumption of unmetered customers in NESI,” it noted. NERC said all unmetered residential and commercial customers shall not be invoiced for the consumption of energy if they are not metered by April.

Presently, it said R2 customers cannot be billed for more than the worth of 78 kilowatt hour (kwh) of energy monthly which is about N1,800. Residents that consume less than 50kwh will be billed at N4 per kwh and a maximum of N200 monthly. All other customers on higher tariff classes must be metered by DisCos by 30 April 2020. “Failing which these customers are not liable to pay any estimated bill issued by the DisCo.” Any customer that rejects the installation of a meter on their premises by a DisCo shall not be entitled to supply and must be disconnected, it noted.

Now you are discriminating yourself.

You can't say your mechanic didn't cheat you. Even I whom you think understand mechanical issues more have fallen prey to Kazeems.

When I was driving my office Toyota Prado, on a fateful Sunday after dedicating my first son in church, the car just died in the middle of the road. I was leading a convoy of friends and family to my house for refreshments, so imagine the embarrassment and the pressure. I locked the car there, called my Kazeem to come collect keys.

He later brought the car, I asked him what was wrong, he refused to tell me specifically, he just told me I owe him 10k. I had guests so I didn't have time to bargain or get to the root of the matter, so I paid him and gave him refreshments.

A year later he confessed that he made a lot of money out of me that particular day. My guess is he didn't even buy any part but charged me 10k for a road side Kazeem who at the time was an apprentice.

It happens, don't be ashamed.

It dissipates after a while but I'm worried for my baby. Someone said its because I don't drive it often but I can't risk putting my baby's life at risk on these Nigerian roads.
Its actually mould.

Because the evaporator of your car gets wet due to condensation, wen dust settles on the evaporator or the evaporator does not dry out after use, this creates a good condition for the growth of moulds. Mould has a smell. This is the same mould that causes smell in a damp house.

To stop it, you will need a can of anti mildew or something of sort. You will remove your cabin filter, put ac fan to highest and spray the anti mould through the air box. This is like spaying the evaporator the anti mould which should stop the growth of the mould.
