Yea Prado and Lexus GX470 share the same chasis and 90% of the drive train. However, the justification of Lexus being a luxury brand in the leagues of Benz is exactly what Benz does to their cars to make it luxury.

What are the things benz do, leather everywhere from seats to steering, dashboard to gear selector, expensive sound systems, new innovations, lane depart assist, infotainment screen, park assist, memory seats, you just continue to name it.

All these little things differentiate a luxury brand from an economy brand. That same difference is what puts a Prado and GX470 apart. The same thing that puts the GX 470 close to the ML class.

Sometimes the difference is as little as hand stitched leather!

If I kept visiting my Kareem with the substandard Honda I bought, am I not expected to ask questions why the Honda was the 2nd worst thing on earth after the devil? That is about that.
Secondly, the first time I had this experience with my ball joint was right in front of my church why I was trying to turn in and the embarrassment alone was haunting.
I spent above 30k just that day alone if not more. I only laid emphasis on ball joint because that is off course the only name I will never forget. No way I could remember all that he listed to buy but I spent above 30K just that Sunday and then he advised I should be replacing it periodically. And off course several other faults were developing along the line. That is that.
Thirdly, can a Nigerian file a law suit against a maker of a car? Nigerians would never, we haven't gotten to that level. And these white guys don't have bad roads like we Africans so they don't majorly experience it like we do. This doesn't change the fact that it is a universal problem. If we had a reasonable platform like the whites to tender our aggressions then Honda would have been a thing of the past. You yourself know that Honda products are known to always have this ball joints/suspension issues. I can swear with my life that you know.

Then again, do you know how many times Toyota has withdrawn a number of their vehicles from the market because people's complained about some mechanical faults?? That is what is expected from a company that is ready to give nothing but the best.

Lastly, No. It wasn't a 2008 accord, it was 2006.

So if your mechanic says to remove your thermostat, connect the cooling fans directly, tells you that US is cooler and always snowing, you will agree?

I have used the same generation of car with the DC, an older car for that matter, but the only time I spent over 30k on it was the day I bought 4 new tires.

What you should realise is what you've been told severally but you wont listen, a Kazeem can kill you, intentionally or otherwise or put a hole in your pocket. He only does that with your permission. Knowledge is key. The sooner you find a source of technical knowledge, the better for you. Not to say they are useless, infact some of their unorthodox methods work perfectly, but you have to keep them on a leash or live with the hole in your pocket for the lack of knowledge. When you know that you don't know, why the blame? There are cars with real problems, 2008 Accord V6 VCM issue rear brake pad excessive wear, 2003 Honda accord engine vibration and wearing of exhaust cam lobes etc.

I do a lot of DIY repairs, not because I cant afford to pay, but because I know that whatever I do myself, the results comes out 10 times better. Before I do, i read for days sometimes weeks. Whatever I don't have tools for, I rely on a young respectful Kazeem with the experience to do what I don't know and to obey my instructions when required. I teach him and he teaches me. He still insist that ambient temperature in the US is far lower to Nigeria. How can I make him understand?

By the way, buy a brand new car and you can have the chance to sue. Toyota is not aware you are a customer!

you are wrong, Mercedes are much richer however Toyota has larger production capacity due to mass production. There are more Mercedes in Europe than Toyota.We have cheap and smaller Mercedes as well ie the A-class.

Toyota had a revenue of $272billion 2019 selling over 10million units
Daimler Ag had a revenue of $186.85billion 2019 selling over 3million units

I could remember my Kazeem saying it is an error from the company, the weight of the tyres are resting on the ball joint or however he put it.
I am sure you understand what he meant with that.

I really may not understand the mechanical gimmicks he might have played on me as you suggested but Honda is a huge disaster. It would have made more sense if it happened to just me or a few people but it is a universal problem. The maker's error not ours.
I don't overcome challenges like this by proffering solutions, avoiding the defective and substandard make is my own solution.
Thanks for the good luck, but I ain't visiting Kazeem anytime soon. My baby is too perfect for that.

If you donot understand the mechanics, how can you be of an opinion which car is better?

If we talk about weave-ons, hand bags, pumps etc, you will properly give reasons for each choice you make other that its physical appearance.

Not discriminating you gender wise, but I think you should not be in the front of this kind of argument since the only appreciable contribution you will have is the face value.

Benz are cute, what more can you say about it if no one told you his/her opinion? You are giving a passionate opinion on Honda but that opinion in the real sense is not yours. Your Kazeem said this or that. You need an opinion of your own other than what someone who is not well grounded has giving you.

Have you visited car complaints website before? Have you seen the Honda "universal problem" in the site or any other website.

US Toyota drivers filed a class action lawsuit over vehicles with 2AZ-FE that burn excessive amounts of oil but have forgotten to remember that Honda legs pull out. What about the Takata airbag issue that affects Honda, Toyota, Benz and a long list of manufacturers. If there was a universal suspension problem with Honda, am sure airbag will be of least concern and a class action lawsuit would have made Honda bankrupt.

Besides, you say you spent alot on your DC, how much is considered too much when the only problem you mentioned is ball joint. Even if you replaced ball joint with the chinko ones sold less than 5k, how many did you change to qualify your spending as a disaster.

If your complain was a 2008 Accord V6, I will not argue with you.

I love Benz, but I had nothing but pity on the my friends and family who have it.

I will get it, but not as a daily driver.

Trust me, its an issue. With a BMW, its even worst.

Nigerians are not very reasonable people. The fact that they price a certain car a certain way will stand no matter how good you keep yours because buyers would have been separated into 2 before they meet you. One part have been discouraged from buying anything Naija used so yours fall into it no matter the condition or care you put into it. The other part believe every Naija used car of the same brand has a certain devalued price, that is what they set their minds and that is what is affordable to them so you wont get a better bargain no matter how you push.

I know you will defend Honda regardless, same way I will defend Toyota. Ordinarily Dangote won't dash me a car as I have no business with him. Does this mean I didn't get your narrative? I did, but those that can get me a car will know my choice and they won't buy me what I won't appreciate.
When I bought my DC, it was out of desperation. I was eager to join league of car owners, my bf advised me to chill but i never listened. I bought it and for the first two-four months it was nice until later I started leaving the car with 'Baba KAzeem'. People will tell you to beware of Honda's and their steering ball joints and suspension issues, I didn't even listen until it happened to me hands down. Like how was that even predictable?? How comes everyone knows there is 90% probability of a honda user facing this ish. Do you know the funniest thing? I was blamed for lack of maintenance and then for plying rough roads. Imagine!! I asked some of them why my mom's toyota that I drove for years despite the very rough roads in Osun state didn't experience such ish. Las Las Honda loves using cheap and substandard parts.
And... Would I have opted for 2018 accord over my Camry '13? Nahh. I won't. This is my choice, I even saw some ridiculous offers that were too juicy to be ignored but nah I passed.

Secondly, I must have scarred myself with lack of knowledge and patience, my mechanic didn't contribute to it. He is a trusted person. The ugly thing about the abnormality of Honda cars is, Honda users will blame everyother person but the maker. You will blame the mechanic, the victim, the roads and all and all but you will never blame the maker for packaging a cheap trash as car.

There you have it. It is plausible that you bought a lemon out of desperation. The same way I told my evil spirited friend to chill but ended up with a lemon.

Please tell us the truth, you bought a lemon, period.

Trusted Kazeem? Do you even know what brand of parts he installs on you car? Do you even know whether your car had a CAT converter or not as at when you bought and sold it?

My neighbor's trusted mechanic collected 20k and poured 4k Forte Visco 2000 20w50 in his 4 months old toks 2008 Corolla gear box. He bought another gear box thereafter but his mechanic is still trustworthy till today.

You got ripped off by your car dealer and continued to get ripped off by your Kazeem. I guess he is still trust worthy, just go now and tell him your steering freezes intermittently if he will not ask you to buy a new steering rack. Try it. I bet you, he will not reject the offer to rip you off as usual.

The difference between me and you is that I overcome challenges with solutions while you are overcomed by challenges with blames.

At the current state of my Accord, if I get a pull out, believe me, I am 100% responsible. If I put a non OEM ball joint and decided to manage, and it pulls out, why shift blame? But a person like you who has no idea what was put in the car has no one to blame but the stereotypical way, Honda. Will you mechanic accept responsibility and lose a customer?

Hell, I used a badly kazeemed Mazda, we didnt enjoy the car right from day 1 which was toks. Do I blame Mazda when I know who kazeemed the car and what was actually done to it. A Mazda car with Mazda engine but Toyota ECU and Honda fuel injectors. I sold the car and will buy the same car again because the car is strong.

This is a rather broad and wrong way to compare individual vehicles. You don't just throw vehicles at each other and compare because they are both mid sized sedans. Some mid-sized sedans are tuned for performance, others towards luxury and comfort.

A more accurate means which is also FAIR is to compare cars with similar drivetrain specs, features, handling, fuel economy, and of course, MRSP.

First of all, put the cars in classes then use drive train specs, handling, economy, MRSP etc to compare and score points. The total gives you a better car.

A Camry is mid sized car, in same class with Accord, Kia optima, Nissan Altima, Mazda 6, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Fusion etc

A Mercedes Benz C class is a Compact Executive car. However, both the mid sized car and compact executive car are of the same large cars. The same class spread to BMW 3series, Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4, Peugeot 407 etc.

If you want to use fuel economy, would you compare a 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera S with a 2019 Toyota Camry XLE if both had a combined 23mpg?

Secondly, my evil spirited friend bought a scar when he made a good deal for his car. The price was alright, the car was fixable yes, but he did not have the patience, the knowledge, the experience and the will to see the car in good shape, this got him scarred. Did Honda scar him? When your mechanic says your crank shaft is shot and you must replace your 300k engine when actually you have a worn camshaft, how do you stop yourself from paying 400k? It is the knowledge that will save you not Honda. How am I sure you didn't scar yourself with a combination of lack of knowledge and a dubious mechanic?

Not trying to be overly defensive sha, a friend of mine recently moved from a 2002 Corolla to a DC and has all the praise for the latter. I know that Corolla is a good car but I wonder why DC seemed to be a good upgrade to him. Don't you think the Corolla is good too?

I want to think you are better than the comment "Honda is a disaster" but you know what you are better than. Your scars do not define who you are, they shape who you will be.

Are you sure you didn't buy the scar with your hard earned money thinking you bought a car? A lot of people have done exactly that, including my evil spirited friend.

Its is also laziness for a teacher to set exams just to test students and compare them.

Do employers just depend on choice when students graduate?

I love the Benz, its design is aesthetically better than Toyota almost everytime. It performs better most of the time. But when the it falls behind the Toyota in reliability and efficiency, the buck comes down to comparison score points. When you compare what majority of car owners want in a car and what a car brand offers, some Toyota will beat some Mercedes and vice versa.

This generalization that Mercedes or Toyota is a better car is actually a very terrible thing to say or think.

Every one knows that when you say Hybrid car the Prius comes to mind but is it the best Hybrid in town? I just read a comparison that the Honda Insight beats the Toyota Prius in so many ways, but the fact is that the Honda didn't beat the Prius in the mileage category nor the range category. It beat the Prius because it did consistently well in every category which summed up to be a better car in the overall.

For example, the Prius is a 53mpg city/52mpg hwy/52mpg avg while the Insight was 56mpg city/49mpg hwy/52mpg avg. Everone also knows that the wackiest Toyota design so far is the current Prius. The writer made a comment i burst into laughter, "the wacky Prius design makes the Pontiac Aztec look good".

I really do not like the way Nigerians compare cars, we do so without any fact or basis of comparison.

You are also missing the point.

A choice between a Mercedes and a Toyota is like students sitting for an exam. At the end, the students are graded according to their performance. Without the exam, how can you know which student has properly understood what they where taught?

How can you know Mercedes is a better car if you have no Toyota experience?

On the contrary, this thread needs more Japanese guys to see how big the Mercedes dick is?

Let me tell you why your mum told you you will grow to love him. That is an indirect way to say sex will bring you closer. For the fact that sex didn't do the trick means one or both of you has a sex problem or it might be even a case of one or both of you having full sexual satisfaction outside your marriage.

The funny thing about sex is that it allows you access to the personal space of your partner, you guys are keeping the personal space to yourselves which means there is something in between you both. Identify it and your problems go away.

The 2.0 engine is more expensive to replace. It has better fuel efficiency but low power.

2008 and 2009 models have no physical difference.

Hello dear nairalanders.

Please I'm going through a state of mental confusion.

Currently i have approximately 20 million and 300 thousand naira in my bank account.

I have two thoughts.

1) I am 25 years old but I'm not a university graduate, i only have ND (National deploma) from a polytechnic In Edo state, Auchi precisely.

I would have become a graduate years ago but after my "ND" years ago, i refused to go back to school and i decided to hustle for money.

Most of my classmates in school back then are all graduates but all the same, looking at my bank account now, i have no regrets.

So this is what i plan on doing.

1) Can i further my Education In any university in the United States with the money and plan on staying back after my degree, for the fact that I'm 25.
Will that be advisable?

2) should i stay back in Nigeria and use part of the money to build a house In my hometown in Benin and use the rest for business?

3) Is there a chance of going to USA and start all over again, look for job.
Will the money be enough to rent a house, foot some bills untill i see a job in the USA.

Note i choose USA only because it's my dream country, I'm not scared of the traveling ban because I'm 100% confident that it will be taken away few months from now.

Please i won't be replying any mention or questions.

All i want is to take note of good advice.

I already know a reliable traveling agent.

Please other suggestions are welcomed apart from mine.

Your 20m is nothing in the US. Visa without a degree is difficult, you will end up an illegal immigrant. That means you risk every kobo spent going there to be illegal. Before you properly settle in the US, you would have spent close to 15m. How long will 5m keep you there if nothing comes that soon.

Besides the opportunities for siblings, you will hardly be able to make the same 20m to bring back to Nigeria when you are retiring or finally returning to Nigeria. Your 20m investment in the US will only get you a good life but not more money.

Invest rightly in Nigeria, and you have a shot of being a Billionaire.

My advice is split the money into 4

1. A business
2. An investment/savings
3. School fees/pocket money
4. A small house

If business fails, you have a house without paying rent.

Don't put all your eggs in one bag.

With the attitude, i am very surprised he actually built the house.

Am sure the money sent to him would have built a small duplex.

I have this step brother who came back from Libya. He started staying with me in December 2018. Initially, he said he would stay a month and sort himself to move to another country. 1 month has turned to 1 year and 3 months.

My wife wants him to leave immediately. She has being hammering it because we have 3 daughters. The eldest is 12. My wife is scared that one day the guy might molest the girls. The house is not big. It is a 2 bedroom bungalow. This guy has being sleeping in the sitting room all this while. We are very uncomfortable with this.

How can we send him away as soon as possible? The thing here is that this guy travellered to Libya in 2009 with the intention to cross to Europe. But he could not. He stayed backed in Libya and started working. He is an electrician. As he was working and making money, he called me and said he just wants to build a small house to show for his efforts in Libya. He sent money and I bought a small land. Over a space of 4 years, in 2015, we completed a 2 bedroom bungalow. He then asked me to move there with my family. I was previously staying in a room and parlor self contain. He said he has no intention of coming back to Nigeria. So I moved in with my family and we have being living here since.

In December 2018, Arabs attacked him in Libya and robbed him. He had to run back to Nigeria. He said he will stay a month and move to another Africa country. Now he has stayed over a year. He is inconveniencing my family and he is a threat to my daughters' safety. Please how do I send him away?

The only soft words i will say is to commend you for buying the land and building the house. I think that is the only reason you have to earn my sympathy but your wife saying what she is saying is capable of making you guys homeless. Put you wife in check before she ruins your relationship with you brother.

Remove the negative thought your wife implanted into your head for your own good.

Done that still same, the mechanic says I should change the front disk, that its worn, want to be sure before I change. Don't like guess work

Note that there 3 types of vibration sources.

1. Vibration during acceleration (40-60kmph)
2. Vibration during braking (slowing down from speed above 60kmph)
3. Constant vibration at higher speed (80kmph and above)

The first one is usually a problem due to inner CVT joint.
The second is a bad rotor (brake disc).
The third, can be bad wheel balance, tire or rim. This can easily determined during rotary wheel balancing.

Madam, you are a rich woman. You are going to be very happy in your old age. You better don't worry yourself.

The only benefit of a man having a boy is his name and bloodline. Boys don't take care of their parents like girls do, so you are in good hands.

If your husband still wants a boy and you feel you cannot continue, it is not out of the ordinary to ask him to try somewhere. Its just your mindset that needs to adjust. Be contented and help him to be contented with God's gifts. It is not a right for him to have a boy.

Trust me, even if he gets a boy, those girls will make him more proud. Talk, encourage him and focus on giving the girls your best.

Did you really see that result? With your line of argument, that is only possible with 7 to 9 sadistic lecturers in that department.

You do not have an idea how difficult a dept can be in ABU. It takes 1 wicked Prof to make the entire dept hell. All others will fear him and do worst than him..

Sometimes, a lecturer is wicked because he has godfathers.

My own wicked lecturer was jointly taking the course with his senior a Dr but he dictated over test and exams while he had nothing to teach and doesn't entertain questions in lectures.

Certainly you didn't go to the university, from what you are saying.

A 400l student wrote math 102 a 100l course as a carry over. How dumb are you? Its a carry over he didn't rewrite since 100l and will never graduate till he passes the course because it is core course for all science based students.

I did the same math 102 in ABU and my classmate who failed it carried over the course in 200l. In this 400l summary, one 400l student must have left it behind till now.

Must it be spelled for you like a primary school comprehension competition. A graduate should be able to understand results but not you. Its obvious you are still a secondary school boy.
