RCDIY: I understand this can start the vehicle. How do they now drive it away? The Fob has to remain in close proximity of the vehicle for it to continue running, no? I don't think there is need for the key fob to be present in the car at all times. I remember when my 2003 accord key broke, since it had an immobilizer chip in the key, the key blade will not start the car on its own until the key fob is attached. But once engine starts, you can even leave the key fob behind and drive a unlimited miles. It seems the system only depends on the key for authentication to start the engine but once engine is running, car doesn't require further key verification. I may be wrong but i guess it will drive. |
Car Talk › Thieves Stealing Toyota, Lexus Vehicles Using Key Fob 'Relay' by adanny01(op): 7:36pm On Dec 05, 2019 |
I came across this and it seemed very interesting. Dozens of newer Toyota and Lexus vehicles are being stolen across Ontario with a simple trick that allows the thieves to just drive the vehicle away, CBC News reports.
To steal the vehicles, the thieves use an amplifier to boost the signal of the car’s key fob, assuming it’s within range of the vehicle. The signal is then captured, and the car can be driven without the fob nearby. More than 100 vehicles from across Canada have been stolen so far.
While Toyota and Lexus vehicles seem to be targeted most often, it’s likely any vehicle with a key fob could be broken into using this system.
These were the most stolen vehicles in Canada last year U.S. car thieves target Hellcats, luxury cars versus Canadian truck-stealers Most of the stolen vehicles are destined for resale in Africa and the Middle East, explain authorities, which probably has more to do with why popular Toyota and Lexus vehicles are swiped most often.
Toyota has suggested owners put their key fob in a “Faraday pouch,” which shields the device from radio signals. Some owners have also resorted to putting their fobs in the microwave or the freezer.
Owners should also consider equipping more safeguards against the thefts, David Shum, Toyota spokesperson, said in an email to the CBC, such as an aftermarket alarm system, steering wheel lock and diagnostic-port lock.
Also, if it doesn’t go without saying, don’t leave your key fob near the front door where thieves can easily steal the signal https://driving-ca.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/driving.ca/toyota/auto-news/news/thieves-stealing-toyota-lexus-vehicles-using-key-fob-relay-technique-police-warn/amp?amp_js_v=a2&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQCKAE%3D#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fdriving.ca%2Ftoyota%2Fauto-news%2Fnews%2Fthieves-stealing-toyota-lexus-vehicles-using-key-fob-relay-technique-police-warn

sparko1: There is no impunity anywhere, the lawmaker have the right to pass a law, why the court check if there is any law backing an order.
Initially, there was no law backing the creation so the court did the needful, now the law have been passed, the court can't stand against the creation anymore. Whoever wrote the script did serious calculation and permutation. The emirate can still take the State assembly to court especially if the bill didn't follow the prescribed processes of the assembly or the bill contravenes a pre-existing law without prior repeal. For example, the law that created Kano emirate should have been amended or repealed if the law that created it prescribed the entire state as its boundary while creating new ones out of the same boundary. 2 laws cannot create emirates having the same rank and same or shared boundary. The conflict will make the new law unenforceable and the court can declare it null and void. In this case, am sure Sanusi's lawyers are waiting for the bill to land so that they will form a case. |

Yankiss: This is crazy. What about the subsisting court order? Impunity and clashes everywhere. Which one is superior now? The court order nullifying the emirates or the legislative order?? Actually, this is the right process and the court order cannot stay action the duty of the assembly. The court can only vet the process which the assembly used and can declare such process unlawful especially if due process was not follow or it contravenes a pre-existing law which needed to be repealed first. |

AceOfRed: Please I need legal or customary advice from experienced people.
My dad built a house in the early 80s; a 5 bedroom bungalow, that's before he got married. As at the time he completed the building, he was about to get married, while his 2 brothers were still single then. Because my dad was not based in my town, he gave all his 2 brothers 1 room each to stay in, as they were bachelors. My family occupies 3 rooms ensuite, while my uncles occupy the other two rooms, with a detached kitchen and toilet.
As time went on, they later got married, but still kept living in the single rooms. Now they have families, with my oldest cousin being in his 20s.
The problem is that the relationship between my dad and his brothers has deteriorated terribly over the past years to the extent that my uncle's and their wives now threaten my parents with murder and diabolical acts. In fact, I can't put on text the many issues that have arose between my parents and my uncles.
Now, my dad wants them to vacate his house but they bluntly refused saying that they will live there for as long as they wish. As the first son, he has divided their ancestral lands amongst them, but they have refused to put up there.
Their continued stay in that house has become a huge source of worry and headache to my parents. There is no day that one issue or the other doesn't come up.
My dad has reported them severally to the 'umunna', but this hasn't yielded any benefit. As members of the umunna are people of questionable judgement. They keep telling my dad to wait till my uncle's build their own house, but they are not even interested in building anything, as they have made it clear that they will live with my parents, just to be monitoring them. To the wicked, peace is temporal. To the good hearted, a peace offering seem a solution but ends up futile. I say the only peace you can get is if there is no confrontation. The only way to provide for zero confrontation is to remove one party from the picture. As long as you people stay in the same house and your uncles donot want peace, there is nothing else to do. I don't suggest lawyers, court or the police as a peace measure when these people have diabolical plans. I suggest that your dad build say rooms like a hostel that will be affordable to him. These rooms will be seen as an upgrade to their single rooms. The trick is to get them out of the main flat. The hidden trick is that, your father should build to fence them out. The building should be place strategically as a sacrifice of the land it sits on. Drag them out peace fully then lock them out. Be carefull not to be out played by the wicked. If your dad builds for them, do not hand over the building without a commitment from them to move out (umunna's as witness and enforcers). If they refuse to move out, set up the place as a business place and temporary move out. Sell the property as last resort. Your father made a huge mistake from the on set while having very wicked siblings. From where I come from, building an apartment in the village means building extra rooms for siblings and old parents else your own house will be overtaken. My father build his village house and built 6 adjoining rooms in a hostel style. The main flat is 3 bedroom with a kitchen. The hostel rooms where allocated 1 for our grandma/daughters and 1 for step grandma/daughters and 2 for uncles. My dads cousin did a big 6 bedroom mansion in the village, he has 8 rooms hostel behind the big mansion. My father inlaw is a sibling to a retired military General. The General built is house and fence it detached from a 16 room hostel for his brothers. 3 brothers have their own flats now. And plenty empty rooms are available. Thats the way to go. |
Car Talk › Re: How To Tell If Your Car Tyres Are Expired by adanny01(m): 5:43am On Dec 04, 2019 |
NaijadrivaCars: It is a known fact that car tyres expire. Tyres are made of rubber and rubber degrades with age and temperature whether used or not.
Apparently, only few Nigerians were aware of the fact that vehicle tyres come with expiry dates. Some drivers, as Naijadriva observed, with years of driving experience do not know how to read the age of a tyre, thereby buying expired tires, whether new or fairly used ones. For the fairly used ones, even though you dont expect to buy one within four year life, you may see a driver buying a tire that expired since 2005!
According to Federal Road Safety Corps [FRSC], expired tyres account for a large number of road accidents nationwide.
So, how can one tell if one’s tyres have attained their expiry dates?
First, vehicle tyres have a 4-year validity period from their Date of Manufacture (DOM) (though some Safety groups in some countries recommends 6 years).
However, considering our peculiar rough driving terrains, and our temperate climate, it makes a whole lot of sense to agree with the FRSC recommended 4 years. After the period of validity, the tyres risk getting burst while in use, especially when running in hot weather.
So, to find out if your tyres are expired – first, look on the sidewall, or the surface of the tyre, you would find a stamp that looks thus: (*4708*). There is an asterisk at the beginning and at the end of this number (although some tyres don’t have asterisks).
The last four numbers identify the date of manufacture of the tyre to the nearest week. That is, the first two digits represent the week of manufacture, while the last two digits represents the year of manufacture.
So, in this case (*4708*), the tyre was manufactured on the 47th week in 2008. Thus, the expiry date would be the 47th week of 2012 ( that is, 4 years from date of manufacture) So with this knowledge, and for safety purpose, it is important for us to regularly check on our vehicle tyres.
Source: https://naijadriva./2019/12/03/how-to-tell-if-your-car-tyres-are-expired/
lalasticlala, Mynd44, marpol, mukina2, fynestboi No 1. The reason tires are not branded with expiry dates is because there is no scientific method to proof that a tire expires in 4years of any particular period. 2 tires made in the same day, same factory, same material, same process will experience degradation differently according to several factors. These factors are running temperature, pressure, weight and the mechanical factors of the car it is installed on to name a few. For this reason, only the production date is made available for the tire user to make an estimate depending on the conditions of use. Because of this reason tires donot expire in 4years. Several research puts it at 3-8years. FRSC is just putting up an advice to ignorant motorist. I have seen a Chinko tire expire in 2years. When tire expires, it starts breaking down, cracking, and when you wash the tire with a brush, it stains the tire black and the water will be stained black too. No 2. FRSC Offences & Penalties have nothing related to tire expiry because they cannot proof it either even in the court of law. The only infringement they have related to tires is "DRIVING WITH WORN-OUT TYRE OR WITHOUT SPARE TYRE". See below what a worn out tire is legally.

I am not saying i don't like sex, i don't regret being sexually active. I am not in a relationship, and do not see the point sleeping around. People are different. Sex is a high risk low reward at the same time is a no risk no reward at same time high risk high reward. This means sex is risky. What am saying is, since you ain't the religious type, sex shouldn't be important. Sex is not a priority. It is not an issue. Be liberal about it. What did you lose by being sexuality active? If your answer is nothing then you'll not lose anything from having sex with your future partners. As long as your sexual life is discrete and safe, you can't lose. So why are you afraid of sex? Am not saying you should have sex indiscriminately, am saying, the conditions of having sex shouldn't be the same as for your life partner. The requirements for sex should be far lesser. |
Romance › Re: I Don't Know What My Problem Is With Men And Dating by adanny01(m): 11:04am On Dec 03, 2019 |
Harlequeen: I opened this account because my main one is pretty popular.
I've had this issue and don't know what's wrong. I can't seem to get into a new relationship. I am now 25, about serving, working a normal job
My dating history is not too rich. I dated just one guy for 2 years, i became sexually active with him, we enjoyed each other, but things didn't work out. I tried to be better, have moved on, and he has too. This was mid last year. I have been celibate since then not because i don't like sex, but because i had time to think, i read a lot of books, listened to a lot of relationship counselors on YouTube, reddit, Nairaland and so on. I decided to approach dating differently, with my head and not my heart . i would vet men out who were not in line with some basic standards, to avoid fuckboys and meet high quality men. He should be well spoken, either with a career or into trade, accomplished, way older by at least 10 yrs(no i don't have daddy issues, i just like mature guys because i think like a mature person) he could also have plans to leave the country, because i plan to do that also.
Here's the issue, the men that express interest in me do not fit this criteria. They seem to have no plan for their lives. I get this impression that they are broke, they recycle the same lines all the time, i usually see their bull sh1t tactics a mile away. some are in the army(i can't date men in the armed forces, they lifestyle is not what i want for myself, cannot date doctors either for the same reason)others are artisans, some are plain hustlers who just do whatever to eat. I have a soft spot for ambitious men, and i have not seen a lot in the area that i am in. I have been advised by my friends to try highbrow areas like lekki or VI or go to church, but i don't believe in religion.
But whenever i see these men, i am not attracted to them. I have even tried online dating with some male nairalanders, but i get disinterested easily. I get turned off when someone asks for my normal pics, it is quite frustrating. There's that fear that some of these men could use my pics to masturbate or one other creepy purpose. I block them if they ask for nudes. But the issue is, it is quite exhausting to keep chatting with someone without seeing them in person and some of these guys just want to smash and run which i won't allow. No man will have access to my vagina and womb without investment and commitment. Eventually it becomes hard to keep up communication and we just fizzle out like that.
I am not under pressure to marry from my parents, infact my dad says he won't allow his daughters marry until they clock 28 and i am the first. He wants us to have a career and a life before moving with a man. I just want to know if what i am doing is right?
To be honest, i just want some words of advice and encouragement, you can ask me questions if you want. This approach of mine? Is it the right thing? Am i being too smart for my own good? Am i afraid of commitment? When a brand becomes too expensive than its alternatives, the brand spends more time on the shelf. Even though an iPhone is the best phone maker, Samsung beats it in several ways by being more affordable and less restricted. You are not the only girl with a virgina. Others are less restricted, less pricey and will get more dicks. When 2 people decide to get married, it is not the number of dicks she had or virgina he bleeped that determines anything. What am saying is that sex is not a reward for your partner, it is a desire you want to satisfy yourself first and your partner second. Someone like me will refuse sex from you because of the strings attached. Its even worst if you want the conditions met before sex. I think you are trying to force destiny in your favour and you are trying too hard. I think looking for a particular type of man is a bad idea. The way to go is determining if the guy you are dating is the particular type of man. If the guy you are dating is half the man you expect, compromise should be considered. If along the way, you had sex with all the guys you dated, its not a crime. |

AlexDeedat: Please I want you to judge me but, while you do that, please be sincere. I will make it brief. Please dont mind the typo errors or any errors as we have many English teachers on board.
It all started about 3moths now, I works with an FMCG Multinational Company as a Field Sales Manager and I was newly transferred to one of the northern state from Lagos.
I arrived this state as a Johny Just Come (JJC) and I can barely speak ordinary 'Wa kin pa o' (come make I kill You), I am a Yoruba Man. I met an existing Sales team which I inherited from the previous manager. One of the Sales people is Mr X. Oh my God! This guy is just so exceptionally intelligent, smart, hardworking, dexterous and has the qualities to be a great Manager. He is still an Open Market Sales Rep despite the years he has put in the Business.
Mr X took me round the Territory, helped introduced me to existing distributors and we were able to recruited more. My line manager was so surprised that i was able to fit into the new environment easily and met 72% of my target for the first month within that shortest time. This particular Mr X has so much channels he can singlehandedly do 50% of the entire secondary sales while the remaining sales rep struggled with the rest.
Now this where I'll need your advise. There is a new vacant slots for the post of TSM, three (3)northern states and one(1) south eastern state. I have opportunity to sloth Mr X's CV so he can be called for exams and possibly interviews. I am more than sure this guy will get the job with my help and his effort.
The problem is "I CAN'T LET MR X GO NOW" I decided to work out ridiculous incentives for him to increase his pay and he was so happy about it this month. He received 2x of what he always received monthly for the last few years...but yet, my conscience wont let me rest till now as it is about 48 hours to the close of submission for CVs.
I need this guy on board so badly atleast for like 4 to 5 months when I'll find my feet on this ground..I have looked around the remaining sales team atleast for a replacement but the rest are just.......This environment still looks like I am being pushed here to suffer..If you have been to core north, you will understand.
**I know God pushed him to me and I am very grateful. I'm I being wivked or self centered by holding on from sending his CV?
**I'm I going to be so stupid for allowing him Go now.
Pls advise me on what to do.. He rubbed your back, its high time you rubbed his. |

Dear gurus, can i appeal this? Cos i didn't withhold anybinfo except i didnt include d Estate acct d first time. I cant bear that refusal nor d 5 years. Not divulging an estate acct that you are signatory to seems to me like withholding information. |

I have done same thing on a sienna 2000 auto though at 70km on 3rd mainland bridge and deceleration set in but not as astronomical as the manual transmission My old 1986 Honda Accord would never shift into gear one at 80km/h. It wont shift into reverse either. The 2007 Toyota prado i used will not do it either. At that speed, gear 1 will definitely rev the engine beyond red zone. That should damage the engine. Am sure gear 2 will enter but the risk is high if speed is higher. |

nakotee: Car is a mechanical and electrical system which can fail at anytime, so whenever you loose your brakes during driving just see it as a mechanical malfunction likely to occur , dont think its spiritual or strange just put your mind together. Five steps to follow when you loose your brakes
1. Don't panic , be strong and concentrate on your driving.
2. Pull up your hand brake.
3. Put your gear on Neutral (N)
4. Off your engine while you leave the ignition on. ( all this four steps while automatically slow down the car)
5. Look for a safe place to stop the car . The last thing anyone should do is turn your engine off in such an emergency. Turning off the engine will cause the driver to lose power steering and engine braking and even risk locking the steering. Pulling the hand brake will lock up the rear wheels and could cause skidding of the car uncontrollably. You cannot even down shift to gear 1 on a speed that is high. Even if the car allows you to, it will be dangerous and cam result to drive wheel lock up then skidding. The best is to progressively down shift. It is a complete complicated process but a manual, its best to downshift 2 gears at a time. On auto transmission, engine braking is by default. But you will gain more engine braking by manually shifting to 3-2-1. At the same time pulling the hand brake with the button depressed so that it doesn't cause a wheel lock. Any thing that causes a wheel lock is bad news. |

2buffagain: Disgusting human trash twisting scripture to suit your laziness and evil. You are no different from a lot of so-called nigerian pastors.
HouseHOLD means children, spouse and parents....in that order. Helping siblings is from the jara after these things (and after sensible savings)....and that is if you want to.
Your wellfare is NOT your sibling's responsibility, you lazy Bleep. With such bile, little wonder the concept is hard for you to grasp. Besides, i dont even have a brother, to have passed my responsibility to. All I have are 2 lovely sisters and 1 adopted sister who are dear to me. Meanwhile, where did I or the Bible said a sibling is responsible for other siblings? You dumb mess cannot read and comprehend simple English and you have the effrontery to spew trash onto my face. You dumb mess even had to talk about jara but cannot comprehend your own words nor accept you are the bloody infidel the Bible is actually talking about. Just say you will never help your sibling instead of insulting me. If you cannot help your own brother, what more a stranger who could even be Jesus himself. IF YOU CANNOT HELP YOUR OWN SIBLING, I'M SURE YOU WILL USE YOUR FOOT TO KICK OUT JESUS IF HE DRESSED LIKE A DIRTY STRANGER AND KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR. May you truly find Jesus and some wisdom. If you dumb mess will not share with your brother, what makes you think your lazy assss brother gives a mess if you are wealthy or not. Some stark village illitrates are fully contented with their lives and will even reject a mansion in Banana Island from their wealthy siblings.. Dont you know that laziness is a choice and some people chose it and find happiness? What do you know? Are you a child? Are we all meant to be rich?

Car Talk › Re: Honda And Toyota Cars: Which Is More Reliable? by adanny01(m): 8:09am On Nov 25, 2019 |
lonelydora: The truth is this....Toyota cars are too bland and not sophisticated, that's why people think it's strong.
In terms of engine and gearbox, you can't compare Toyota with Honda. Honda is stronger both in engine and gearbox.
Newbies go for Toyota but those who wants to enjoy their ride go for Honda.
Why do you think engines like water pumping machine, Generators, boat engines, etc. made by Honda are too expensive? There is a mark of quality in that name.
For those saying bow joints issue......you have it in 4 Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia, etc. Always buy OEM parts and you won't experience it. Infact, Honda is the biggest engine manufacturer in the world. |
