You are not in the majority. The word racist doesn't fall from my lips readily. I have read many writers of African descent that generally choose to first marry another Nigerian of same tribe, secondly another African, if they go outside and don't marry African they would marry a white person over an African American. Nothing personal - that's why I didn't attack you because this isn't personal. This is what I have read from many, many, many writers. They associate AA with negative images especially those 30 years of age and up. The younger Africans tend to hold the images of African Americans on a more positive note because they associate that image of those AA who have succeeded in music, athletics, etc Now you have told us many bad things Africans do AAs , its time you told us how AAs view Africans. You keep talking about Africa as if you went to Sarah Palin's School of Geography. Africa is a continent that is ethnically diverse. So stopping lumping everyone together.Dont most AAs marry fellow AAs? OP wanted to know why she did not get enough attention from Nigerian men, now you have expanded it to include African men and you are depicting a narrow experience of yours as a holistic one. The OP lives in Ohio and visited ATL. I dont mean to sound vulgar, if she had been interested in a one night stand, she would have gotten it. Guys are not ready for out of state dating if they have a lot of options locally. You are out of state, you are out of their league, unless they will get laid quickly. This is how most guys think. |
He built structures for the state university and the lecturers went on strike over payment of salaries. |
And yes, you're right. I'm not from the Atlanta area. We just visit there every once in a while Guys are more about economics when out of state is involved. ie I dont want spend the rest of nite talking to someone who lives out of state. Talking to you prevents them from talking to someone who's readily available. Most Naija guys know that one night stand is out of the equation, so their love hunting skills are channeled toward those who reside locally. |
they sound more American than Russian to me! |
I need asnwers to the following questions though! 1. How close are u families, i mean does your parents and thiers act like sibblings. Its a possibility they see you as a sister and so your a no date zone. 2. How old are u, or better put, what is the age difference between u and these dudes! Cos if your much younger then worsens the issue in 1 above, if your older almost same but well, 3. Financial reasons might be a part of it, maybe your family being more affluent than thiers, or vice versa. What am saying is, it might be anytin but not your race, I like your answers! I'd like to add more. If it had something to do with your parentage, a Nigerian dude will be more inclined to date you because of your Naija connection. So your background is a great addition not a baggage if a guy is truly interested in a girl who has got Naija link. I dont know why people get this general assumption that Africans look down on AA's in the US. Africans are more likely to be made fun of fun than AA's. Africans have image deficit- sometimes u get to receive comments like U dont look African, U look good for an African, I didnt know you were African, when did you learn English etc. Also I dont think Nigerians behave the same way as East or southern Africans would, so lumping Africans together does not really answer our question. Maybe the guys did not find you datable not because of your parentage, but because of the relationships your parents have with their parents. Did you see those Naija guys hooking up with other girls at the party? If so, what was the ratio of girls to boys? How about location? Your profile gives an illusion of someone who does not live in ATL, so if most of the guys live in ATL, they might not be ready for out of state dating. Another thing is the age difference, age matters to most guys, they don't want to be put under pressure to do anything against their will. |
It doesn't matter whether he's working on something! A guy that is serious about you will have marriage in mind even though prevailing circumstances might prevent it from happening soon - AND he will voice his plans to you. It may take a few more years for him to get settled but he will let you know his mind and feelings for marriage. In my opinion, the guy doesn't want to commit but wants to keep the girl. Then you don't know about guys. Get yourself acquainted |
I meant Nigerians born in Nigeria. I think they are even worse |
I think it's because most Nigerians, particularly the ones born there, are gung-ho on marriag I thought Naija guys were opposite- being allergic to marriage? |
i really appreciate all the advice, but come to think of it,how will i ask him whats he take aspa the relationship and where its heading without sounding confrontational or rude, well if i give him some time and he doesn't come up with something,i wouldn't mind leaving him or better still let the relationship lie low, friends,i must say its not easy leaving a relationship after a long time, HEARTBREAK OO The point is that you assumed that this relationship would lead to a marital bliss? Wrong- you should have put that in his toasting contract, so as to arm you when you would like to discuss it. Having said, what are his goals in life? Is he financially fit to take care of a family? YES, money is heavily required in building a family. If he's currently working on something that is career related eg job, school and business- marriage may be on the back burner.Guys think career first, than marriage later. |
y not? So that she can take her skills to UFC |
She sounds like a desperado. Postpone the wedding cos he has lied her way to your heart. Once had a friend whose fiancee lied about her parents because she was born out of wedlock, so she presented her grand parents as her real parents. My friend later discovered and went ahead with the wedding. Years later, the marriage crashed and the woman dealt with my friend. Relationship could survive on a faulty premise, but marriage cannot. |
Good question. Nobody understands the value and beauty of green. Chime could have taken his mega project elswhere, and spared the lush greenary of the park Enough of this crap from all these treehuggers who shout for green space while there are a lot of green forests and wooded areas around Enugu city. What's green about polo park Drinking joints, prostitutes' convention centres ,gambling hang-outs, and suya spots? If you really want a green space, move to a village in Enugu and trade position with a villager who would like to live and work at the mall. Most people from Enugu would chose good economic effects of this mall over polo's "green" grass. |
What does Africa have to show for its large population? War, hunger, poverty, famine, starvation. It's time for population control. |
I may be the first to hold this position but N4.5bn is not a bad price for that building. Let us analyze it together: 1. I was privy to the price of a piece of land and building (a four corner piece) bought on Tinubu Street behind Post Office in 2008. The building on it was later demolished. I worked in the bank that finance the purchase and the property was sold for N1.5bn. From the valuation, the land, judging from the location was valued at N1.2bn and the structure itself (already carcass) was valued at N300m. That land is about the same size as the one housing NECOM House on Marina. A property on Marina would value higher than Tinubu Street so we can put the price of the NECOM land to N2bn. 2. We are left with N2.5bn for the structure and finishes. Let us assume an average of N100m for all floors, then we come to N3.7bn for the structure. Now factoring-in depreciation of finishes and fittings you can beat that down to a possible N2.5bn. 3. There are two common basis of valuation. The Open Market Malue (OMV) and the Forced Sale Value (FSV). The FSV is the least value for which a willing seller is ready to take for the building in an emergency or a compelling situation necessitating a sale. From the above the building could have been valued for say OMV of N6bn and FSV of N4.5bn. Usually for sales like the NECOM House, a government property, it will be released at the FSV. So, from the above, it is very possible that the NECOM building was sold fairly for N4.5bn. Let us face the facts and leave sentiment Thoughtful and analytical. Succinctly cleared the air! |
she's 28 and earns 120,000 p/m and her family are comfortable t 120,000 Naira p/m would not scare the hell out of many guys, unless she's been talking to pure water and CD/DVD hawkers. If she makes 120,000 pounds p/m, then that's a biggie; and would most likely intimidate most guys. I think there is a mismatch between what she earns and the image she projects or the lifestyle she has. |
the word which a lot of newspapers are keeping mum on is that the 10 billion loan was from UBA. just an interesting coincidence that he also bought a building in which that uba is a tenant could turn out to be a variant of the shenanigans between otedola and ovia otedola 'bought' stallion house on ajose adeogun with a zenith bank loan, defaulted, and now the building is the property of zenith bank. another step in ovia's bid to tur ajose adeogun to zenith boulevard Interesting connection! |
Kleptomania is a disease and its curable The best way to help a kleptomaniac is to make sure they seek treatment from a psychiatrist, this is what your friend should do Everything is supposed to be treated by a psychiatrist? Just take kleptomaniac to deserts in Northern Naija, Sudan and Afghanistan where there is nothing but dry hot air to steal and it will be cured instantly! |
This is why I have always clamoured for Nigerians to shun foreign surnames. All this foreign names are so rife in that region our president hails from. Now whites are making fun of our president's name. What a shame. Get a sense of HUMOR. Oh forgot, some of you were born tight-lipped and stiff at birth. |
Supporters of indiscipline are attacking Siasia. Could he have done this in his club? NO. We must fight this "mentality of indispensability" in our national team |
is this not another sign of inferiority complex? why do we get so excited when we see our artistes mingling with american artistes? are we not admitting indirectly that they (Americans are superior? ) Huh Sad Angry Angry Go find work do mr man. Until u produce one popular album, you are Inferior to Dbanj not to talk of JAHOVA! Get busy internet champion!! |
He cries and sobs and manipulates me and I end up feeling sorry for him and giving in to his sexual advances. it's really a difficult situation and I think only God can help me through this. Those who pray please remember me in your prayers. Would you open your bank accounts if he cries and sobs for financial help just like the way you open your legs when he cries for sex? |
It has always amazed me.I think it has to do with women projecting the desire to settle down for marriage or something meaningful before any meaning relationship is clearly established. Some have this " It Must Lead to Marriage" mentality which exposes them to be gullible and emotionally unrestrained. Most guys would tell me that if they talk to 10 women, 7 would like to be in a serious relationship; looking forward to marriage, while men on the other hand see themselves as not being ready for marriage. As a matter of fact, only 2 out of 10 men would most likely be committed to a relationship leading to marriage. So my question is why is it that those 7 women do not see that their chances of getting married to that guy is less than 30%? 1 man finds 2 out of 10 women to be wifey materials, while 7 out of 10 women find the same man to a husband material. So where is the balance? |
get a life! |
Does a Nigerian not own Gatwick Airport? Is this how you plan to make this thread an intellectualy stimulating one? I.e using highly subjective examples , IMO, aimed at denigrating Nigerians and Nigeria rather than using fair analogy that encourages stimulating and educative discussion? Must the Lebanese not run any business in Nigeria now ? What if the Lebanese proprietor won the concession legitimately? Do you know how 'connected' the Lebanese proprietor is? This is similar to an argument I had with a friend of mine with his MBA who said Coca Cola was owned by HRM Queen of England. Ogunlesi does not own Gatwick Airport. If your argument were true, then the entity which sold Gatwick to Ogunlesi and Co is mightier. |
nah!!! I wouldn't be quick to do that if I were you. El Rufai played a major part in designing and building of the Federal Capital territory you have today. Played which part in designing FCT? From your post it could be said that Jerry Useni funded Abuja then? Plus, he was not the VP at the time Obasanjo was President, and he served 4 of the 8 Obasanjo years, as MINISTER of Federal Capitcal Territory, not President/VP of Nigeria. And the $400 billion figure you cooked up there, that is a stretch considering the price of oil and Nigeria's production levels during those 8 years. Wink So a minister who served under OBJ had no responsibility or portfolio ? He was head of BPE which sold all the companies to government conies, and over 80% of the privatized companies are moribund according VP Sambo. Did he also cook up $200 billion that Yar'dua and Jonathan spent in 4 years? Nigerian BPD production was much more consistent in OBJ and revenue stream was almost the same with Yar'dua's tenure, so they generated the same amount of money. OBJ spent $16b on power without anything to show for it. Can we please stop all these useless attempts to attack the messenger, and focus instead on the truth of the message It does not negate the fact that he was part of the same charade that indulged in this senseless spending binge without anything to show for it. |
Nigeria is in a mess! If Yar'dua and GEJ spent $200 Billion in 4 years without nothing to show for it, then OBJ and Co including El Rufai spent $400 billion without nothing to show for it either. So the circle of nothing to show for it continues. |
See the most women here are giving her a soft landing! If it were a guy, the responses would have been different. |
Since we know that NASS members are going to make about $2.5billion in the next four years, let us turn the search light on the executive arm, which controls over 80% of the budget. How much do ministers, Special assistants and special advisers legally make? How much are they getting in housing, poverty alleviation, car and furniture allowances? Please I need credible information. |
I agree too, everything seems to add up logically on her CV. I checked, and her CV seems to flow authentically. If she is a fraud, she must be a pretty good fraud. MIT dean resigns in lying scandal The dean of admissions at one of America's most prestigious schools resigned on Thursday after the university discovered she had lied about her academic credentials. Marilee Jones, who joined the staff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1979 to lead the recruitment of women at the university, stepped down from her post after admitting that she had "misrepresented her academic degrees to the institute," according to a statement posted on MIT's Web site. "I misrepresented my academic degrees when I first applied to MIT 28 years ago and did not have the courage to correct my resume when I applied for my current job or at any time since," Jones said in a posting on the school's Web site http://articles.cnn.com/2007-04-27/world/mit.dean_1_mit-community-marilee-jones-mit-dean?_s=PM:WORLD |
And so fork what! What have the kids of Abacha, Babangida added to the economy of nigeria. Dangote toiled his way to the top and mind you, it took him 30years of hard work to emerge on forbes list of billionaires. The problem with nigerians is that they want to get rich quick. Like dagrin Dangot was given 500,000 in 1977 by his late uncle who was then treasurer of NEPU- Northern Elements Progressive Union. By that time, a brand new Mercedes was selling for N5000.So imagine if you would be given 1 Billion Naira today to start your own business |
Reading from Naija political fat cats who have plundered our resources! Are they expecting our sympathy? |
