My first HIv test wasnt scary , but my 2nd one argghhhhhh. I had been feeling very weak , had some chest pains probably due to exposing my chest , anyway the doctor decided to run 1million tests (HIV) wasnt included oooo. They didnt find anything wrong but my blood count was low (chai low immunity ?) , I was called back to do the blood count again and then it was lower than the first time(now i started to wonder and ask google plenty questions ), Anyways my doctor referred me for further tests and this time my doctor casually said i should do an HIV test (I mean casually like trying to say "I think you might have a headache" . Ok now i was going crazy , emi HIV how come , from where (funny how the mind works ). Good news they phoned me back from the hospital and said I do not have HIV. Not a nice experience at all |
Ok so some people assume all graduates should know how to use computers ,may i ask the basis of your assumptions, because the last time i checked basic use of computer is not in the curriculum of primary/secondary schools and the only reason we have these much people that can use computers is because of "yahoo yahoo". That INEC expected corp members to use computers is rather dumb, you dont employ people based on your expectations , shouldnt it be based on what people know. I trust my people to blame someone else for their short comings, during the training exercise why did they not identify that these people couldnt use the computer. I believe a project like this should have been planned and the equipment should have been tested, expected response time and time to capture details of one voter , why do they need to capture 10 fingers"sebi 2 individuals cannot have the same print " bottom line its just a typical naija approach, but i dont think the corpers are dumb sha, even if they cannot operate computers. |
Hey poster , I understand your urge to go back to nigeria, i dont know if it is due to a sense of patriotism or because you have been outside 9ja for a long time. Even though the guy that said you shouldnt come home sounds very negative he definitely has a point. I am considering going back to 9ja too to start an IT consulting firm but i definitely do not think it is going to be easy. I know its a different ball game and ordinary things are sometimes impossible. I thinhk you should visit first and make sincere contacts before you decide |
Nice one , I am glad to hear this, patience and perseverance definitely does pay. Wish you all the best |
Nope it is not alright , even if they get it right(we all know they wont). |
Hmn Dear poster , It definitely is easy for anyone of us to tell you what we think of you or what we think we should do, It doesnt make it right. I'd assume you dated your husband for some time before you got married and as such there must be some things you like . If you say he hasnt changed that means he still has the same qualities you fell in love with and decided to marry him for or are you saying those things dont count anymore or , Is there something going on with you presently that might be affecting the way you feel. As some people have rightly said "this is it ", no one said it was going to easy all the way, it definitely takes a lot of effort and patience, there definitely is a way to get your husband to listen to you, you just need to find it "Everyone has his own button ". You said you dont want to leave him yet ? I take that as meaning you would work on your relationship "for better for worse" I could go on and on but the bottom line is dont give up unless you are sure it "cannot" get better I pray you find the happiness you seek |
Arrghhhh, the battle of the sexes begin again, we all know this is not going to end . I see some people are blaming the guy for thinking its best not to employ the girl and then you blame him for having self control or whatever you call it (what is self control sef ), remember that guys are wired differently. I think the poster is very responsible thats why he recognises that it makes more sense to stay away from temptation as compared to looking for trouble to prove self control. I dont know about explaining your reasons because this kind of explanation could be taken in different ways , although it seems fairly straight forward. Based on some of the posts i've seen here , we can assume that explaining to your wife would make her feel like you cannot control yourself, bringing another worry of what you do behind her back . I am sure you dont want to make your wife insecure cos , No you do not want to employ the house help , SIMPLES!!!!! |
ENEMIESSSSS!!!!! , I just had this conversation with my friends a couple of days ago, yep we definitely have enemies (OUR enemies are the greedy bastards that keep mismanaging our money and enriching themselves with public money). Sadly we are blaming some other person for it , yeah the attention and enery channeled to enemies could definitely be used to create a money making venture of a more constructive thing , but i do not blame my people for believing they have enemies. A human being needs an explanation for everything that happens, some people use science, some things we see with our eyes and the rest we just need a theory behind it. yes there definitely are evil people everywhere but if i am driving while drunk at night and have an accident (that no be enemy), if i dont read and i fail (no be enemy ), even if i read and fail sef no be enemy still. I think there is just a general misconception about the supernatural. |
Man you must be going through a serious phase in your life right now, guess its easier to say this and that , apparently we all have different views about cheating. Recently i decided that it would be better if people disregard sex as a measure of love, 2 different things. Although my dera friends say that all guys cheat but a woman would only cheat if she is in love with the other guy . Ah before i digress into another gist entirely I think you need to figure out if you can move on with whatever decision you make. If you decide to leave her, would be be a better person and happier person in the long run , If you decide not to leave , can you ever trust her again, can you deal with the crazy kind of suspicion that would be going through your mind , cos its a whole new game when you have caught someone in the act(whats to say she wont try it again and be more careful about it). Most of all take it eaasssy , i know its easier said than done but trust me you dont want to run yourself crazy because of someone else even though she's your wife or was. |
I say this without any intention to disrespect the poster "Nicca" , I mean who say that in 2010, Its sooo ignorant, even rappers have come to understand that the word is derrogatory. It seems like the poster lives in a different world, As pointed out by someone you need to have a Job to pay tax, when you say "u fail in your civic responsibilities ", you need to be more specific what do you call NYSC for one full year against you choice, even market women and drivers are forced to pay tax in lagos state and this is irrespective of their income. In Nigeria unemployed graduates have to buy scratch card to be fill in application form to work for the government (for tests written in the stadium under the sun - there is a photo of that on here ), A lot of people pay Nepa bills , i mean over 70% and people pay tenament rate and all that lot , even people in ajegunle pay TV license charges (Ask me how i know : I used to work in a bank and was in charge of Tax and things like that. ) Yeah they pay taxes in foreign countries , but thats the least of our problems, Its easier to stay somewhere and say you prefer to live in Nigeria ,why dont you come over (I wouldnt ) and these countries that you are comparing with nigeria has instilled pride and a sense of belonging in thier citizens, In 9ja 90% of its population are the suffering majority who just want basic things in life. |
My people i hail oooo ,I just want to point us a few things that i've seen in here that i think are wrong. I see a lot of this things in other posts on nairaland and other Nigerian forums , I dont know if i should say its a nigerian thing or not. 1, Why do people insult others just for stating opinions , I mean some serious curses are flying around just because someone decided to share a post, Oh well maybe he shouldnt have used the word disgrace, yeah some people believe that Olu was just living the life (But if olus actions have made other black people to be looked at with distrust and hence make them feel ashamed , then olu has disgraced them ). I believe the essence of this post was to inform people about the importance of our identity and how our actions could affect others . 2, Whats with this tribalism!!!!! haba I am yoruba, Ugo is one of my best friends so i hate to generalise but his family are lovely people . The poster said Osun state as a description, but because he is igbo it became a big deal abeg allow all that one or better still lets try to divide 9ja into the major tribes(A little tolerance is all we need o) ,I remember i met some 9ja people at uni and after i said i was nigerian they were pestering me for what part i was from - I told them i was nigerian and that was all that mattered. 3, Some one has said muslims are lazy and , , I respect your opinion. I am a muslim and am working hard to be a better person, MKO was a muslim(I am sure you havent heard of him, Mohammed Ali is a muslim) and because we believe in the Quran and we believe that Allah in his Infinite wisdom has laid down all the necessary rules for us to live by and chose not to revise anything , you call it primitive ?(You must think about the what your statement implies : Do you suggest that God is ancient ; Maybe we should appoint a new God ) Abeg lets respect one another and try to move 9ja forward instead of all this critisms and condemnation. In summary I fear for Nigeria because of its leaders and followers, because of the greed inside a lot of people , because of our diversity and our unwillingness to see ourselves as the same and fight towards a common goal. Nigeria would remain the same until we choose to make a difference and every little deed counts. |
Jealousy is a sign of jealousy period . Nigerian men are the m,ost jealous, its easy for someone who's been with only nigerian men to say dat , all dat na story . I also heard that nigerians are the happiest in the world . Everything boils down to the individual in question |
Hmn, I guess the poster doesnt understand it takes more than statistics and grammar to rule a state, Oh well majority have spoken their mind. Even the fact that the guy wants to come out under PDP is questionable. On the other hand Fashola seems to be doing us proud in lagos state , even though some of his actions are , but hey no one is perfect and at least we can see improvements. Let Gbadamosi take a chill pill for now |
I am wondering why everytime Nigeria is potrayed (just the way it is) in foreign media, we always hala , when BBC showed the slum , when they showed Olu omo of oshodi , when they showed Mr Amos agreeing to collect $800k . Are these things lies , NOPE ! , Its just the way nigeria is , i know it is sad but we could stop deluding ourselves. Do we need CSI to tell us what happens to a credit card when it gets into the hands of and average 9ja boy? Nobody should come here and act like Saint Goodluck ooo. I've seen one of the classic nigerian lines here again (Oyinbo people are not smart and they are jealous because we are better than them); Now what kind of line is that , for some reason we like to think of ourselves as very smart, intelligent , but are we really, have u been in class with oyinbo people, they are very smart people and yes maybe a few nigerians shine abroad, thats just a minute number out of 140 million (I mean if we are so smart and there are 140million of us why cant we do something as simple as choosing the right leaders, or a least saying enough to those misleading us .) Nigeria is what it is, either we work together to change it or we just dont, but lets not decieve ourselves |
Mac vs Apple , hmn i just had that debate with some colleagues at work last week , Did someone say mac does not have CD/DVD rom , i guess the person neva c Mac before (no offense ooo), if u look at the mac from a distance you'd probably think that cos you cant tell that the monitor and cpu be the same thing and there is a CDROM by the side . I used Mac in UNI although am not an expert ,it was the best computer i ever used although this one had 3 OS on it ( windows,Macosx , Ubuntu), but these machines dey perform, It still boils down to preference alot of people are used to windows , but if you are used to Mac you might think windows is too complicated , hence some people say Mac is more user friendly . |
ok lets hold on for just a second , 1million dollars how many people are we talking about here ? I am sure 1 lecture cannot get 1 million dollars a month haba !! na lie joo , or maybe the poster misconcieved wetin atiku talk . |
I usually dislike to comment when it seems like the poster is seeking attention but I'd make an exception here even though it seems thats what the poster is doing . This once i would contribute to making the status of this post a "hot topic ".Could be because i am bored or maybe its because i am tired of this blinded patriotism that some of us claim to have(a few weeks ago someone was crucified on NL because his post asked if people would like to come back to this world as a black man if given the chance; yes my fellow 9ja peeps tore the guy up saying different things ranging from his life must really suck and that he was a waste of semen and things [na una sabi oooo ; ocntinue fooling urseleves there] ) . Ok back to poster are you stating a fact (in your mind) or are you asking a question, seeing that you deemed it fit to butress your statement i'd assume for some reason you think this is a fact , i guess you know the wrong set of nigerians , but lets say you are right (just for a second) then that means 80 - 85% percent of nigerians are crooks because they make that subset of nigerians outside , unless you have some kind of anger towards them because they have been smart enough to identify that their lives would be way better if they lived outside nigeria. Yeah in your mind you would rather stay in nigeria and live a comfortable life and you have not applied for visa before (that means you are ignorant), whats the basis of your argument if you have never been outside nigeria. I've worked in both places and schooled in both places , different kinds of jobs mind you and i must say i was more comfortable working as a security man in the UK than i was while working in a bank in Nigeria. The only place i felt oppressed was in my own country. I admire your patriotism though , although it could be dangerous because it could also mean that you have lied to yourself to the pint where you cannot differentiate between truth and delusion. Nigerians outside nigeria are still nigerians , because they live outside doesnt mean the nigerianess in them has disappeared, but we all cannot be crooks na (haba! ) that is rather extreme , please have an open mind and just just post for the sake of it , give us facts . |
Erm the average nigerian is aggresive doesnt matter where you are , as long as u have lived in 9ja for a bit , the police thing is another matter. I wonder what part of europe the people that get treated badly are ? I mean obviously there would be a few police men that are crazy in all parts of the world but in 9ja its more like there are a few (negligible number)that are nice . its all part of the average 9ja story . |
ARRGH, I seriously feel like cursing out , but admin would delete the text so there is no point . Seriously where do we stop being cynical and pessimistic , yes i think a little bit of those could help us reason well . However what i see here is an overdose of it all . What do we make are decisions based on, I mean what are previous experiences there for if not for us to draw from them. Yeah ribadu is a northerner , he is this and that , so what , u all dont think its time we looked beyond where people are from . we've had idiots from everywhere do the same nonsense (MAYBE WE SHOULD GET A PRESIDENT FROM AMERICA OR KENYA). Who is yapping about nuhu ribadu being a puppet and , , what exactly are you looking for in a president, u want him to be from your home town and to give you some of his money so you can vote for him, thats the same way we wasted gani fawehinmi's precious time and money(at least i know i voted for him ), of course we should have known that he would have made a better president, yeah maybe not the best in the world but common doesnt someone's integrity count anymore. We would all still sit in our houses and complain and say different stories about how nigeria is this and that, but the sad truth is that we all contribute to it .Seriosly how many people do we need to change nigeria , my dear country that has 130 million people. If only 1 million youths came together to face the truth and not think like greedy monkeys , I am sure positive change would be seen in a short while. Nuhu ribadu is not perfect but at least we know what he did while he was EFCC chairman , yes there were a lot of things he did not do but hey we are all human beings . I FEAR THAT IN 2011 THE WRONG PERSON WOULD BECOME 9JA PRESIDENT AGAIN - THAT WOULD CONFIRM MY THEORY THAT 9JERIANS ARE NOT VERY SMART PEOPLE. JUST B4 YOU START TO CALL ME NAMES LETS THINK ABOUT IT ; IF 130 MILLION PEOPLE CANNOT CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRESIDENT, OH WELL MY DEAR PEOPLE THE TIME IS NOW OOOO, |
my friends girlfriend cheated on him and then my friend asks me if he should forgive her (WE ARE TALKING ABOUT MY BESTFRIEND HERE), In rellationships you have to be careful the kind of advice you give , that your friend is asking for what to do only means she still wants to be with the guy despite the fact that he has impregnated another lady . I have heard that women have a kinder heart and as such find it easier to forgive than guys , common where do you draw the line 1, The guy isnt your husband or fiance , he is ur BF; is this guy some super star or you are just so in love that you dont want to move on? 2, You dint catch this guy cheating , he has impregnated someone ( ok in my world if you have sex with someone without protection it has to be 2 things, either you are really stupid and randy or you really like this person ). 3, Are you also pregnant for the guy ? cos it doesnt seem to add up at all The thing about the future is that no soothe sayer knows it , but some things are obvious e.g the marriage is going to be very trying from the start and thats without the unknown problems that come with marriages . Babe the bottom line is that people can talk from now till tommorow, but na you know whats best for you . |
Ok now i see my people claiming patriotism and someone being ashamed because some of us think this guy made a mistake, oh well unless the guy doesnt have kids and a wife (then maybe he made a smart move )as he would be able to rough things on his own but if my guy has a family and has just blasted glo without an alternative source of income , yeah yeah , countries like ghana and america did blah, blah, blah ; my question is did nigeria start existing as a community of people after these countries? so why does it have to take us forever , we better open our eyes and see that it is not a matter of time or independence . Its simply how my people are wired (MAJORITY OF US A JUST GREEDY). I'd like to think about the consequences of my actions before i take any and by doing so i try to see if what i aim to achieve is actually feasible . If this guy was trying to make a change i repeat it wont work . Cos some greedy guy is writing another letter to glo management saying those things are not true and thinking in his mind (WHO SEND AM !!!). like i said earlier we have alot to learn from this thread although some people think its a waste of space or bandwidth(i donno who forced them to read it oooo). THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING A HERO AND A SCAPE GOAT, SIMPLES. |
It seems to me like the guy made a sacrifice in vain , glo is not going to make any changes, all the big boys in glo are happy; why bother about some guy that has only been in the company in a year. The sad thing about working anywhere in 9ja is that there is no regulatory body and as such u r on your own . There are over 100,000 people that would apply to take this guy's job, some people would do it better without complaining but it everyone did complain maybe there could be change. "The grass is always greener on the other side " according to my guy he heard bad gist about glo before he joined, my guess is he thought fidelity bank was worse than glo (sometimes we make big mistakes all in pursuit of more money). I think there are loads of lessons to be learnt from this. |
Ok poster , I am not going to call you a fool because i dont think you are not . I guess you speak the mind of the common 9ja person . I guess i should answer you question : Yes i would come back as a black person , i dont think the black person is inferior in anyway to the white person (Although some of us black people feel that way.), Being a nigerian is another story entirely , weighing the pros and cons of that i think i'd rather not be , I know alot of people are going to say nigerians are very smart and one of the happiest people in the world and things (are we really? or do we just love to decieve ourselves as we are being decieved ?) The average nigerian would probably think the solution to his problem is being white , but being white doesnt solve anything , just means you look different , although it could give you more opportunities in this present times but at the end of the day its whats inside you that matters . Maybe the poster has got it really going bad for him, lets face it the average nigerian does and if we have the highest population in africa maybe the average african does too, there is nothing wrong with wishing things could be better and wondering what if, but since we all know thats not going to happen and the colour of our skin is not going to change I SUGGEST WE CONCENTRATE OF HOW TO CHANGE THE CONCEPTION THAT BLACK IS BAD AND HOW TO MAKE LIKE BETTER FOR OURSELVES . |
hmmn i cant help but laugh , i remember an asian guy at the phone store trying to speak pidgin english to me , that was d first time but after that alot of them in london try to speak yoruba to me and stuff , even my asian friend speaks pidgin and its catching on in my class at uni . I guess because it sounds like english and they cant understand it , they find it fascinating and want to learn . I hope u know other african countries have thier versions of pidgin english , so they might just be speaking their own kind. |
Hi i am trying to use perl to analyse BGP update data , to proffer solutions to route flap damping . I would appreciate any assistance with the codes . Here is one i have written below but the counter doesnt work as it should , #!/usr/local/bin/perl print "hello world.\n"; $file = </home/adedayo/Downloads/one27>; open(INFO,$file)or die(print "FILE NOT FOUND" ); while (my $line = <INFO> {@dayo =split(/\|/,$line); %hash = ('col1' => "$dayo[3] $dayo[5]" ;while(($key,$value) = each(%hash)){ $timeout==300; $coun=0 ; if( defined $last_time{"$dayo[5]|$dayo[3]"} <= $last_timestamp["$dayo[5]|$dayo[3]"]+"$timeout" {foreach ($value){ $coun ++; print "$value $coun\n ";}} else{ print "mala"; } $last_timestamp{ "$dayo[5]|$dayo[3]" } = $dayo[1]; };} close (INFO)or die (print "cannot close" ; |
This is just soooo funny . How come we cant seek to end our own crisis . I see someone has identified another avenue to embezzle money . Plenty nonsense |
yeah its nice to forgive and its easier said than done but shes slept with a couple of guys + your best friend and u r cool with it . Honest question "Do you think she is the best thing that has ever happened to you ? " Allow the gist of her friends wanting to crucify you cos it just sounds like you are trying to make xcuses for a decision you know u shouldnt be making . I think things like this just mess up your self esteem and your mind . |
I think you shouldnt , yes the probability of you having a kid that is SS is 1/4, thats just mathematics man , this is real life and sometimes its just not what you expect . Love conquers all ? I am sure you love your unborn children so dont put them through the pain . |
I beg to differ , i would say some individuals are more forgiving than others .I doubt it has anything to do with the 'sexist society'. |
Erm it seems like everybody thinks we should kill sanusi ? For identifying that banks were paying their workers more than they could afford Were giving out loans outside CBN regulations For pointing out the fact that banks were misinforming their customers and giving them a false sense of security , Common whatelse do you want him to do , lets remove sentiments NIGERIAN banking sector was pants before he came in and Soludo just turned a blind eye cos the guy just wanted to make enough money to run for governor . Yeah FBN had 50bn bad debt, did they make provision for the bad debt from their profit (YES) and am they also followed due diligence when giving out these loans . Ok maybe the equating to casino seemed a bit overbearing, but honestly how do you classify me waking and realising my stock value is how a third of what it was yesterday. PS : Foreign nationals come to nigeria not because its stable but because things can easily manipulated and they can get away with just about anything just my tots |
Its very true nigeria doesnt make provision for disabled people , dats not a new thing . I mean we used to carry my friend on the wheel chair to have lectures on the third floor in uni .Till date i havent seen any building that has disabled access and the closest to that being enacted was minorly talked about in the Lagos house . I feel for the customer but then we cant over overlook the safety of the bank officials , the reason the person wasnt allowed in wasnt because he/she was disabled but rather because the crutches had metal in it and could not go through the metal detector door. yes they could make exceptions and just turn off the metal detector and allow the person in, but again that would mean that anyone with crutches could enter d bank with guns , its a two way thing really depending on what side u r looking from . |

. Ok now i was going crazy , emi HIV how come , from where (funny how the mind works ). Good news they phoned me back from the hospital and said I do not have HIV. Not a nice experience at all
