Bunch of woosies ,always crying about the Civil war.You folks are just cry babies,so what the war happened.Wars are fought everyday.Only Nairaland IGBOs want to keep opening old wounds. The ordinary IGBO man on the streets does not give a hoot about the war. This war has no bearing on the younger generation of Nigerians. You people should get over yourselves and let's move forward. This matter is becoming boring and pathetic.
No need twisting the issue here. No one is crying. Misinformation and lies are being challenged.

I do not advocate for Biafra but that does not give anyone any right to lie about the war. Of course, the Igbos have moved on and that is why they are doing well on their own even without FG support or the 20 pounds those who were lucky to have survived the war were given to start life afresh in spite of what they had in the bank before the war.

Just stop the lies as they will always be challenged with truths. Deliberately telling lies will only bring forgotten issues to the fore.

there is no misinformation here only if you can tell us your own version since i guesses you experienced the war.
Exactly what I have been stating all along! Do you homework yourself or ask questions when in doubt.

You don't just make ridiculous claims and state lies and misinformation as if they were facts and then expect people to correct or educate you on the facts.

I don't believe in such and you won't be getting any corrections from me. It is easier to seek the truth than to spread lies while hoping for others to clarify or correct them.

Name those Ironsi killed. This is a simple task. Get to work and see whether you can come up with just a single name not to talk about names.

Dude, i think first of all you need to attend anger management classes  undecided
Secondly, I can tell you are really an aggrieved victim of this thread. Too bad but want baffles me the most is how on earth people  like you get all so worked up on forums like this !Your aggression and name calling should be directed towards Gowon and not myself. huh Name calling will certainly not heal your so called wounds.

I still insist its time to move on dude, take it or leave it !  wink
Anger management class? Don't think so. I need not insult Gowon. I disagreed with his statement and queried how that statement reconciled with what happened to innocent Igbos under his watch.

Now, because you are an ethnic bigot you failed to even comprehend my post which was directed at bluetooth for stating the following

~Bluetooth:
i disagreed with you.Gen. Ironsi  promoted many Igbo in the Army at the expense of Yoruba and Hausa officers, and was accused of perpetuating the brutal killing of Yoruba and Hausa leaders. The Northerners in particular saw it as a deliberate plan to eliminate the political heavy weights in the North in order to pave way for the Easterners to take over the leadership role from them. Resentment grew in the North which led to the May 1966 riots throughout the North during which  Igbo residing in the North were attacked and killed.so the north were the least to ever had a dream of secession even though they had always be privileged by the british
Who and who did Ironsi kill?

When you find the right answer try to reconcile it with the post bluetooth made and see how stupid you have been all in the name of contributing on a forum.

You see the problem with some us is that we just love to make noise and bring unnecessary sentiments into issues that will not change irrespective the decibel of noise we make. Its funny that the our so called brave compatriots who rely on the anonymity of the internet to whine  and yell about a civil war crimes can not seem to let the past go and move on.

Any way, good luck to you on your quest to prove your bravery via noise making  undecided
What sentiment is this fool talking about? My post was clear and straight to the point.

Would you state that you don't know me, my name, what I do etc? Only a cursed coward like you would make the type of comment you made as my identity has always been known as I use my real name on every single forum I use unlike clowns like you and you have the guts to talk about anonymity.

Cowards like you will die a 1000 times before their actual deaths because you are spineless, silly thing. If you want to carry over the nonsense you started in the web masters section feel free to do so as I will help expose the fraud that you are.

my premise on this civil war and biafra ambition had always been neutral even though i dont support sececssion of any tribe from the current nigeria.economically, everyone agreed the igbo folks are doing fine but they have been politically sidelined over time which personally i believe is unhealthy if we are to canvass for a national unity.complaining about the past every time any igbo issue comes up will only continue to drag nigeria backward and the igbo tribe in particular
Stop confusing issues. This thread is about a statement credited to Gowon about the people he and his people killed and everyone that was affected has a right to comment on the statement.

I don't know how this has translated into Igbos complaining.

Maybe it will be better for you to stop talking about neutrality and side anything, that would be easier to understand.

In my opinion Biafra remains a project that took place between 1967-1970 and you won't ever see me shouting about Biafra because a lot has changed since then but I will always object to lies and misinformation being peddled against my people (the Igbos) anytime any day even when such lies have been passed down from generation to generation by bad people.

Dude, why do you always like to take things on this forum personal ?   huh Why suddenly result to abuses  huh

While people like you would enjoy all sorts of insults directed at ethnic groups people like me will respond to them because I am not the coward that you are. Funny you only type when wrong things you support are challenged.

~Bluetooth:
i dont need anybody's idea before i make my posts.this igbo have been on this issue for over forty years;blaming, criticizing;bragging and threatening.its time igbo departed the path of isolation and move ahead.how long will the lamentation continue and least i forget i appreciate your insult.thanks anyway
So, the Igbos do not have a right to respond to comments made about them by the head of state when a war was waged on them? Stop seeing everything through a tribal prism and unless you are suffering from inferiority complex I see no reason why you will not comment on statements that tend to discredit your own people by those who should know better.

Civil war not against Ndigbo — Gowon

“Nigeria as a country would have been a failure if the Igbo race had been allowed to leave the country Nigeria because they have contributed immensely to the growth and development of this country,” he said.
Gowon said it was high time Nigerians believed in their country and supported its project.
According to Gowon the Igbos have contributed immensely to the growth and development of this country and yet he led a group that massacred Igbos from the barracks to the prisons while his people killed innocent Igbo civilians even when they chose to return to the East.

You guys can bury your heads in the sand for all I care but no one should come here and spread silly lies all in the name of using a public discussion forum.

Half education is indeed dangerous and when you add gross ignorance and extremely low level of reasoning things become too bad.

Don't be in a hurry to post anything. Take time to read and comprehend before typing. You are making a fool of yourself even though you think you are making sense.

And before you begin to say people should prove you wrong let me remind you that if every single nonsense people put down is corrected there won't be enough time in the world to address these things.

EzeUche:
How specific can we be? If the majority of the people who committed these atrocities were Hausa, then we should say they are Hausa. I will call a spade a spade. The actions of a 'few' do sometimes reflect the people as a whole.

It only takes a 'few' to paint a paper that is white, into a paper that is black. If I read my Bible, I see that God punished an entire group of people for the actions of a few.
You should be as specific as possible.

Now you are talking about the bible and expect to use that to justify a statement but when someone else uses the quran you state talking about islam and muslims.

I am not here to convince you about anything, just to point out very wrong positions you have taken that defy logic and common sense.
PoliticsRe: The Downfall Of Northern Supremacy by Afam(m): 6:45pm On Feb 12, 2010
EzeUche:
Of course religion is not the problem. It is the people who practice the religion that is the problem. Like I stated, I have no problems with Yoruba Muslims since the appear to be the moderates among the bunch. My problem is with the feudalistic Hausa-Fulani, who use Islam to declare war on their neighbors. This is what I abhor since the Prophet Mohammed did not preach violence against non-believers.
My point is that we should be specific when accusing anyone and stop generalizing as it is wrong. Accusing or insulting a tribe or religion based on the actions of a few is totally wrong and unacceptable.
PoliticsRe: The Downfall Of Northern Supremacy by Afam(m): 6:35pm On Feb 12, 2010
Comments that are insulting to a religion practiced by many Nigerians are not only wrong but leads to unnecessary hatred. We don't need this.

Islam cannot be the source of our problem just as Christianity cannot as we have quite a good number of good and bad people practicing these religions.

We should learn to base our discussions on facts, logic and common sense and do away with those things that create bad blood and spread hatred.

I insist on what makes the most sense for my paying clients as regards web projects.

I do my best to understand the underlying technologies out there and in doing so I dismiss certain things no matter the hype and stick with others that are not only robust but very reliable.

Tables are not useless as they make sense in certain areas where CSS would not perform well and that was my point.

Facts will always favor him based on what he did regardless of his short comings.

@Afam,

As per injecting the Chinese into the discussion, I believe that was in response to earlier comments that Nigeria need to handover its
oil to the Chinese as supposed to the likes of Chevron. My point was no matter who we are dealing with, they will always exploit the
foolishness of our leaders. For all we knock the Americans and for all their faults, they do have a better track record on human rights
than the Russians or the Chinese. US companies do try to reflect some of those values even outside the US (maybe not all the time).
Ok, I needed to understand why because the rate at which issues are compounded and diversions introduced is getting out of hand.

All we require is a leader whether civilian or military man that will put the interests of Nigerians and Nigeria first and every other thing will fall into place.

Basically, there is no requirement that is too complex for me to turn into a software solution in days or weeks.

As long as you can foot the bill based on professional appropriate pricing whatever you want to develop can and will be done within any agreed time frame and cost.

If you have it state it. At least we are sure the agenda is not to extradite him to the US or jail him.

Why bring in the Chinese? This has nothing to do with the thread at all because no one has stated anything about the country that is preferred as a super power.

We need to be clear on what local software development entails. Agents or marketers of foreign software cannot claim to be local software developers.

Just tell us the facts.

Science/TechnologyRe: How Good And Reliable Are Inverters by Afam(m): 6:46pm On Feb 10, 2010
We build inverters, in fact we have been doing so for over 6 years now and my office has been without a generator for 6 good years.

However, compared to most of the inverters out there whether locally built or imported our prices seem to be high but in reality we are working towards increasing the prices to reflect the cost of components as we have maintained a steady pricing scheme for over 4 years.

We offer 1 year full warranty where repairs or outright replacements are carried out at no cost. This does not include any end user abuse.

You may read real life articles based on real experiences from real people concerning inverter backup solutions at www.justalternativepower.com

Having maintained a consistent position on the double standards and hypocrisy of the West this news is no surprise at all.

The US, Australia and Britain will gladly dine with the devil once the price is right.

It is a shame that Nigerians just because of the unconditional love they have for anything foreign are ready to defend these countries even till death regardless of their atrocities and mistakes.

My God is not a God of MAY but WILL.

I can even do better -

This year will not be a leap year.
There will be 28 days in February
OBJ will remain an Ogun State citizen
Jonathan will remain acting president until either Yar'adua returns or something else happens.

Just for the records the reason given by Seun as regards Yawatide's issue remains completely false as I was copied by the email Yawatide sent to Seun and Seun's subsequent reply so the facts are far from what Seun said. Seun writes to his moderators as if he is talking to his house helps some idiots and that is totally unacceptable and would amount to a shame for any moderator who may have been addressed as such not to complain as Yawatide did.

Yawatide resigned based on principles and that is commendable.

About setting up another forum I personally told Yawatide that as web developers setting up a forum is ok but certainly not on a ning platform and for the records anyone reserves the right to setup a forum for whatever reasons.

@ Afam, in lagos trafic is much more serious than abuja and perhaps okada is restricted only in the main town not in the satelite towns. if u live in abuja, or ever lived there, u cannot support this kind of idea. ITS PURELY RETROGRESSIVE and by no means economical as claimed. Senator Aliero should give it another thought instead of taking us two steps backward.
Thanks for your comments.

Which is cheaper as a mode of transportation? Okada or taxis?

If Okada then the ripple effect on the vast majority of the residents that would save money while using them to attend to other important issues would be massive.

Unless of course it is an established fact that taxis are indeed cheaper when compared to okada that I see as both a cheaper and faster means of transportation.

My position does not in any way support the recklessness by some okada riders, right now I am focusing on the cost effectiveness.
