Mikeansy,

Be careful so that this guy don't lead you into an endless question and answer session as his motive is far from genuine.

Sometimes it pays to ignore spin doctors and liars who masquerade as Nigerians wanting change for the better.

So, your point is that you are ready to teach others but you are not ready to apply what you teach to your own design?

SapeleGuy:
Afam - We are campaigning to stop this exploration. It doesn't benefit us. Money is not everything. My dream is for every region to be self sufficient so they can leave us in peace. I have to question your motivation if you are willing to sacrifice Anambra just to have a River Port.
Who are the we that are campaigning for them to stop exploration? I thought the problem was revenue sharing? I am glad you have a good dream for every region to be self sufficient, I also have a good dream for the South East for have a good international airport, sea port (through the dredging of River Niger), development of a steel industry and even oil and gas exploration and exploitation for the good of the people.

As regards your questioning my motivation if I am willing to sacrifice Anambra I have just one response for you - Your premise, assumption and conclusion about the dangers of the dredging are not only unfounded conspiracy theories but they are borne out of politics that we are not ready to place with those who are opposing this wonderful initiative.

As stated earlier, we have enough educated people in the South East that understand the issue of dredging and naturally we will listen to them when they raise any issues.

SapeleGuy:
As far as an international airport is concerned ndigbo deserve one, why can the Igbo states not come together build one. Delta & Akwa Ibom have done it why not you. Why do you people have to turn everything into ethnic war.
If you agree that Ndigbo deserve an international airport then there is no need for the long exchanges. Thanks for agreeing that it makes sense.

Imo state used tax payers money to build an airport so we are trying our best. Remember that we do not get the type of monthly allocation that some states in the ND are getting.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

The issue of OBJ being IBB's senior is not relevant. You mentioned that Abacha jailed OBJ, was Abacha senior to OBJ? Abacha was a Colonel when OBJ was a 4 star General!
Stop missing the point please.

I made statements to prove some times.

1. IBB can be arrested by the present president because he has powers to do so. An example was given that even OBJ was arrested by a head of state.

2. IBB is not the most senior head of state and that whatever power he may have tasted in the past OBJ did so before him.

While these two facts may not be mutually exclusive I would rather believe that you understand that they can live side by side as relevant points.

Or would you rather want me to believe your comments about being sure that impeachment proceedings will begin if anyone dared to arrest him even without any evidence to back up such statement? No, I won't.

Without any question, Ibori and others are nothing but enemies of Nigeria, but at least Ibori is showing an effort to face all the charges against him. He's not running from Nigeria or London, he's doing whatever he has to do to defend himself like a man and a citizen of Nigeria (regardless of the outcome of the cases).

Now, is Ribadu doing the same? Is Ribadu clean? Is Ribadu disobeying any law? Is Ribadu running? And what exactly is Ribadu is running from?
If security is Ribadu's concern, I do not think he would have had the balls to show up again in Nigeria just couple of weeks ago.
You or Ribadu may not see it, but the man is stepping on everyone of us.

And this is the only problem I personally have with Ribadu.
Ribadu may be stepping on you but he is certainly not stepping on me.
PoliticsRe: What Will Happen If IBB Is Arrested? by Afam(m): 1:04pm On Sep 29, 2009
You are sure that impeachment proceedings will start against the president? How come?

Nothing will happen if he is arrested today just as nothing happened when OBJ and the late Yar'adua were arrested and jailed by Abacha.

The president has too much powers and as such can do anything he likes if he really wants to.

In case you have forgotten, OBJ is IBB's senior both in age and rank and in fact became the head of state before IBB. Whatever rank IBB attained in the army OBJ wore that rank before so let us not make this sound as if IBB was the first to achieve things as a military man or head of state.

Any incumbent leader can do what he likes. Ask former governors or even god fathers of some politicians and you will know this.

one can use joolma and other open source scripts and still be credited as the DESIGNER his friend actualy designed the site, though may not be the script writter/developer. but sometimes the best code writers may not be the best designers.
Uncle gentysho,

Obviously you don't understand the meaning of a content management system because if you do you will realize that the only work that you do are

1. Download the script
2. Install the script
3. Choose a template and use it
4. Add content to the different parts of the website
5. Select modules or components to use

Now, tell me that part that makes the guy the designer. Even if you customize a template based on an original one the idea behind open source is that the work derived from open source software must be open source and the code should be freely available to anyone that may want to use the work while giving full credit to the original developer.

Can you guys leave OVATION and Olatilo alonehuh

Are they the Nigerian Banks where these money were withdrawn?

Are they the secretary to the state treasury who sign the money?

Are they the Political Godfather and God mothers who wants to collect profits from their investment!

Are they the populace who accepted 'bribes' to vote for the thieves?

To stamp away corruption is sadly TOP-DOWN approach for Nigeria; the leaders here have excutive powers!
I am sorry you are way too wrong on this.

Any talk about top down approach is nonsense.

The approach should be all encompassing.

The same way family members celebrate 419 people and even ritualists is the same way these people and their magazines and shows celebrate corrupt Nigerians who cannot even defend the source of the wealth they display.

I know decent families that disown even their own children just because they were dirty as regards making money while some others would even encourage them to do whatever it takes to make money including robbery and rituals.

So, if you work with any of them or if you are actually the wife of one of them I sympathize with you but do not even in your wildest imagination assume that you can guide the thought process of Nigerians.

I am sure a lot of corrupt Nigerians would not have been heavily involved in the looting if there was no way for them to flaunt their ill gotten wealth as most times they loot just to impress or intimidate the masses around them.

The interesting thing is that OVATION has been mentioned again and rightly too. Last time Dele Momodu was talking as if people were just jealous of his success not understanding the role such patronage plays in the ongoing looting.

And Bisi Olatilo is another one, a great footballer who is not making cool money be helping showcase stuff from the rich or super rich regardless of how the money came about.

These are facts and facts don't lie.

If the world does not need nuclear weapons then no country should be allowed to build and keep them especially those that have used them on civilians in the past.

McKren:
My dislike for IBB has always been that he knew the right thing but refused to do it.

I am still suspicious of this cunningness as we speak.

There is a part of me that wants to believe that the reason IBB wants to welcome devolution and decentralization of power at this time is because of the realization that Most of Nigeria's Uranium reserve are in the North and given that Nuclear Energy is the future os the world's energy source may be black gold in the delta may continue to be less and less important.

So I personally think this is far from being a sign of repentance, its just a very shrewd adjustment from a shrewd pragmatist! I am not very impressed.

While I welcome it because this country will be better off if all parts are self sufficient, I don't think I have any reason to celebrate what IBB says.
The irony of the whole thing is that the North has what it takes to become the energy hub of Africa considering the land mass and natural environment from wind to sun to natural mineral deposits.

But their greedy and myopic leaders would not see the great potential because they can't take their eyes off crude oil.

Sooner Nigerians would know how Ribadu purchased by proxy the shares that he owns in his friends’ companies. Ribadu would then have to tell the world whether he bought those shares with proceeds from his salary. No wonder he has failed to declare his assets - which is tantamount to a crime.
If failure to declare assets is tantamount to a crime then what is looting of government treasury tantamount to?

If the only case against Ribadu till date is the non declaration of assets then I can boldly state that those fighting corruption are grossly incompetent as we have a lot of corrupt government officials that declared their assets, stole government and public money and are still working around as free men.

Iran should end these accusations and counter accusations by doing the following

1. Pull out of the NPT

2. Continue with its nuclear program for peaceful use

3. Begin to develop nuclear weapons if it wants to do so.

What sort of hypocrisy is the West and Israel practicing? These people continue to develop nuclear weapons and yet have the guts to talk about other countries wanting to develop what they freely develop.
Foreign AffairsRe: Mugabe Calls Top Us Official 'an Idiot' by Afam(m): 10:38pm On Sep 28, 2009

‘Fight for economic uhuru’

From Caesar Zvayi on MARGARITA ISLAND, Venezuela

President Mugabe has urged the developing world to complete the fight for holistic independence by taking ownership of their resources, saying political freedom without economic power is not only hollow but is also fertile ground for future conflicts.

In his address to the Second Africa-South America Summit here, President Mugabe chronicled the history of Zimbabwe’s land question and how the West bought into the British government’s flagrant violation of the 1979 Lancaster House Agreement.

The British and their American allies, the President said, proceeded to impose economic sanctions on Zimbabwe for embarking on the land reform programme as agreed on at Lancaster House.

"Political freedom or political power is absolutely hollow without the input of economic power, and economic power derives naturally from your natural resources. And these resources have got to be exploited and it is here that our liberation struggle, perhaps, did not go to fruition.

"It did not get to fruition because we left the very (colonising) countries with their very paraphernalia in control of our countries. So we had the economy still in the hands of Britain, in our country, and this was also the phenomenon in other countries, although the powers might not have been British all the time.

"And once you have that imbalance of power, political power in your hand and economic power in someone else’s hands, then you have seeds or a seed for real dispute and conflict in the future.

"In our case we had negotiated, we thought we had done our best, negotiated with the British so that the land reform programme could be undertaken in a manner which would see land being moved, ownership being moved from white settlers to blacks."

Despite this agreement, the President said, the Labour government of former British premier Tony Blair proceeded to renege with impunity and mobilised its allies to impose illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe.

"So we still have sanctions imposed by the European Union, asked for by Britain and the United States of America. That withstanding, we are going ahead, we continue to argue against the sanctions and to ask you to support us in that regard.

"We continue to look at ways and means of associating with our neighbours in the economic field, trying to get their help.

"And so when Africa associates with Latin America, and we are part of that association, we do hope that, that association will yield benefits on a reciprocal basis."

The President said South America, which had a head-start on Africa on the economic front, should come in with investments.

"We have had agricultural machinery from Brazil, and we also have definite cultural ties. There are areas where we can work together on a reciprocally beneficial basis. Our countries are still largely agricultural in Africa.

"The qualitative transformation through industrialisation has been very difficult, difficult because there has been greater reliance on the very powers that colonised us yesterday, and they have not wanted to see us really become self-reliant otherwise we will cease to be their source of raw materials.

"But we can’t continue to be sources of raw materials for others forever," he said.

Africa, the President said, should move from the primary to the secondary stage of economic production.

"We have to qualitatively improve our economies, and it means we have got to beneficiate some of the products we get from agriculture, and it is in that area of beneficiation where we are finding lots of problems.

"Africa produces lots of coffee, lots of cocoa, lots of tea, tobacco. In Zimbabwe, we are only number two to Brazil in producing tobacco, and there are other countries that have taken to producing tobacco, our neighbours, Zambia and Malawi.

"But it’s raw tobacco all the time, our cigarettes for domestic consumption only, but we export the raw tobacco to countries even to America where they make cigarettes.

"So we appreciate the efforts we are doing and the result is that we establish ways and means of how we can improve our economies.

"And improving our economies means, as I have said, is naturally industrialising them from the primary levels where they are to secondary levels of production. It requires money, it requires capital and it is in this area of capital and technology that we fall short . . . We are happy, happy that there is the proposal to establish an investment bank (of South America), and I am sure Africa will support it."

The President urged African countries to ensure that existing institutions like the African Development Bank and the African Export-Import Bank buy into efforts to set up the investment bank.

Africa and South America, the Zimbabwean leader said, should build on the existing cultural, economic and social ties to ensure that ASA becomes a success.

The integration, he said, could be at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

To this end he proposed integration — even in the sporting arena — through the setting up of an ASA soccer tournament instead of having the two continents look only at meeting in the Fifa World Cup.

The President yesterday held talks with Bolivian President Evo Morales, whose country is facing problems in trying to get affluent land owners of colonial extraction to share land with the historically disadvantaged indigenous Bolivians.

SapeleGuy:
Afam - I'm glad you have such faith in the relevant authorities.

Have your river port but don't endanger the lives of your people because of money.

Please read.

"Despite the fact that site of the twenty-one LGAs of Anambra State shall be directly affected by the dredging project, there was an obvious neglect or omission by the Consultants in appraising the effects of the environments Anambra, Idemili and Orashi River. Heavy loads of sediments are trucked down by gully erosion into the River Niger yearly from uplands by these rivers, particularly, the Anambra River. The catchment areas of these rivers are heavily-built up; the soil and geologic units have easily-erodible components; average annual rainfall is over 2000mm; intense agricultural activities and fertilizer applications are carries urban and rural areas. Floods, soil and gully erosion, and environmental denudation transport sands, clays, pollutants and contaminant into the River Niger through these tributaries.

The Anambra Basin supplies quite a load of sediments and waste products into the Niger Delta yearly The dredging of the River Niger shall obviously exacerbate incidences of soil and gully erosion and sediment deposition in Anambra and Kogi State unless something is positively done to check them upstream of the Anambra Basin. As at now, the dredging project Report is silent over these issue. What shall be their fate then? There is a great need to evaluate the effects of the dredging on the dams upstream of the River Niger, particularly, the Kanji Dam areas. The new higher water flows that may result after dredging may cause drastic falls in reservoir-water levels and increased siltation of the hydroelectric dam. These may adversely eventually affect the energy-generation capacity of the dam. Hence, there may be need to dredge the Kanji dam as well, probably, later to avoid future problems. The dredging of the Kanji Lake is, even, long overdue, and should be recognised as such engineers, environmentalists, etc."
Considering the impact of oil exploration and exploitation in the Niger Delta coupled with the many spills that have destroyed aquatic life and farm land not to talk about gas flaring why don't you advocate for the stoppage of all crude oil related activities in the Niger Delta?

Or are you only concerned when it has to do with do what ought to have been done long ago in regions other than your own?

When you answer the 2 questions above then we can discuss or debate the issues you raised based on the merits and demerits of the arguments put forward.

There is need for a sea port (thank God they are already dredging the River Niger) and an International airport even in Enugu.

Some are talking about economic viability but have conveniently forgotten that the people from the Eastern region travel the most whether for business or for pleasure and the minimum of 7 hrs journey with the attendant armed robberies along the expressway coupled with the poor state of the roads simply don't make sense for someone who may have just come from the US to get to his home in Enugu.

Movement of both goods and personnel will be a lot easier, cheaper and even safer if the distances that must be covered on the road are shorter rather than longer.

When every sensible nigerian is joyful for democracy and the death of abacha- who was a dictator, a murderer and a theif who nearly looted this country to bankrupcy and had no regard for human rights and freedom- A SENSELESS man declares he wished the murdering criminal were alive.

You shamelessly and stupidly agreed 100% that mobutu was a bad man and bad for africa only to declare your undying love for Abacha.

Tell me, what is the difference between the crimes comitted by mobutu and those by abacha?. . . . Oh, I Know, Abacha hated the west like Afam while mobutu did not.

In Afams world of stupidity and ignorance the ONLY measure of a good leader is his ability to hate America like Afam. . . I laugh in swahili!
Is your visa tied to a condition that you must defend the West even when issues are crystal clear and obvious?

Will they kill you the moment you use your brain to think instead of your left hand?

TUDOR is a perfect example of the type of African the WEST wants to see in power!! They will use high sounding words like DEMOCRASY RULE of LAW to get such ignorant ass kissing african puppets into power.

Self-hating with a dibilating inferiority complex completely brainwashed who religiously repeats and believes all the nonsense spouted by his masters! He is in the same league as the Savimbis' Mobutus and Dlakamas of this world!

These are the type of africans we must ensure never get any where near to power
100% correct especially the content in bold.

cap28:
very true, however its really difficult, becaue the CIA are allocated billions of dollars by the US govt specifically for destabilising governments that are perceived as a threat to the US's "interests" so what you have is huge sums of money being offered to africans who are more than willing to jump at the chance to make money and sell their own people out.

i  watched a documentary the other day about an ex CIA agent who talked about how he "groomed" Savimbi and prepared him for his role, you could see from his analysis of africa that he didnt see africans as equals and he referred to african countries with puppet leaders as "client states"  they were trained, and financed by the whites and then put into power by way of military coups.  he also talked about mobutu and how "invaluable" his services were to the CIA.  he said that the CIA preferred using people of questionable moral character eg Idi Amin, Noriega of Panama (drug dealer and CIA agent), Saddam Hussein, the Shah of Iran, Marcos of the Phillipines, Suharto of Indonesia and so many others too numerous to mention.
Each time I see an African leader stand up to these murderers and thieves that effortlessly destroy other countries for their own selfish interests I believe that all hope is not lost. Only if Abacha had not died by now Nigeria would have made serious progress through self actualization as he never bothered with the hypocritical West.
