This just goes to show that Rochas has some good in him. He has been lying all along with the hope the government at the center will prove his words to Igbo people but unfortunately the man from Daura doesn't give a flying fvck about Igbo people and Rochas eye don clear and now we expect him to keep saying the truth instead of telling us the opposite of what we already know. I wonder what Abagworo will say about, seeing that he started supporting Buhari and APC because of Rochas. |

It's funny how you guys always bring up Biafra whenever there's an issue between Igbos as if every Igbos must agree on one thing to be seen as being united. Show me anywhere in the world where there isn't some form of disagreements. Are you aware that there are non indegenes who are bishops in different parts of Igbo land. The priest of our local church in my village in Awkunanaw is from Imo state. A lot of Anambra priest are scattrered all over Igboland likewise those from imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi. The anglican bishop of Enugu from a Delta Igbo man. So, i don't understand how you'll decide to use a particular event to hide your prejudice. I'm also not a supporter of Biafra, hut i'm not stupid enough to give these silly reasons that you guys always come up with to feed your obsession on how other people think life will be better for them. |

PapaBrowne: The apprentice system is in my opinion the most important ingredient of the IBO entrepreneurial success story I quite agree with you. The apprentice system has changed the lives of families and it seems likethe easiest way for some people to set themselves up. However, i think it has come a time when it needs to be more structured so that some people don't get cheated. @topic I think the Igbos have come a long way since they were almost annihilated physically, emotionally, socially and economically during the civil war. I've never met any group anywhere i the world that recovered from a civil war in such a short time. It's unheard of, atleast in this part of the world. I think what has kept Igbos afloat is their never say die spirit. They get rich or die trying. |

I really don't know the intent of the OP but from my own experience i'm inclined to agree with him/her. Ondo people behave more like the people eastwards of them. That is from Edo state. They tend to be lighter in complexion and are more liberal in their disposition. Though there's a saying that Ondo women are stubborn. Don't know how true that is sha. |
Culture › Re: Learn To Speak Ikwerre by Afam4eva(m): 9:31pm On Feb 11, 2017 |
bigfrancis21: From my understanding, the difference between an Igbo dialect and an Igboid language would depend on the level of mutual intelligibility between the said dialect under question and other dialects considered under the Igbo dialect continuum. In other words, an Igbo dialect is one which shows little divergence from other Igbo dialects and is mutually intelligible to others, on the other hand, an Igboid language is one that exhibits a high divergence from other 'Igbo dialects' but has a little relationship, such as words or sentence structure, with other dialects under the Igboid umbrella. In other words, Igboid language means 'looks like Igbo but is not Igbo'. Ogba speech form shares similarity to Ndokwa but with more southern influence compared to more 'anambra' influence on Ndokwa. Ordinarily, Ogba should be an Igbo dialect and Ekpeye (akpaohia) would be an Igboid language (it shares some level of mutuality with other Igbo dialects but has significant non-Igbo influence also that would make it stay on its own).
For example, while Onitsha would say, ife oma Nna melu m, Ekpeye would say, iyu uma Ida meni me. In terms of pronunciation, it is exactly alike as other Igbo dialect speakers pronounce the words with the usual inflections, however one could see a high divergence of the actual words of Ekpeye.
My issue with Robinson's classification of 'Igbo language' and 'Igboid language' is that such classification may have been made according to which bia-speaking clan accepts being Igbo or not. For example, while Eche dialect is not much different from Owerri dialect, Owerri dialect is classified as an Igbo dialect and Etche probably as an Igboid language.
To answer your question, Ogba should be an Igbo dialect (based on high degree of mutuality) and Ekpeye an Igboid language. No offence but i think all these definitions about the differences between Igbo and Igboid are nothing but balderdash. The reason i say so is that, if we were to go by your definition for example, you'll realize that not every part of the South East will fall into your definition of Igbo dialect. As for the term Igboid, it's just an attempt at political correctness. It's a way of linking the language spoken by Ikwerres or Ogba people to the Igbos of the south-east without calling them Igbo. It's a way of seperating ethnicity from language considering that ethnicity has become more of a political term than a cultural one. Have you heard people from the Ezza/Izzi axis speak their dialect of Igbo? I don't see how it's more intellegible to other Igbo dialect as compared to Ikwerre and co. |

TheGoodJoe: What is important is discovering if Pere threw a chance to Iheanacho to join his agency. If he did, I think Iheanacho should have signed the deal. Guardiola is talking of staying for a long time and that would have secured Iheanacho's place in the team. However, I do not think Pere would stoop that low to sign Iheanacho who is in court because two agencies claim ownership.
cc: lalasticlala, Mynd44 Just listen to yourself. Isn't this the same corruption that we're trying to fight in Nigeria? How can someone be told to register with a particular agency so that he will have more playing time. If it's true that Kelechi refused then i hail his bravery. I think it's high time he lokked elsewhere afterall, Man city hasn't really been good to him. |

christejames: Good day big bro...
like I promised during the beginning of last month that I will be returning to NSK in about two weeks time and if I had the time I will take some pictures... I actually did..
Sorry this update is coming a bit late. it was due to some unforeseen circumstances. I managed to go to some sites of the government's projects in the evening and was being disturbed with calls from relatives to comeback that it was getting darker... please manage these amateur shots from me.
The second and third pictures are from Ogurugu road; a very busy road in the town. the first and the last are from Odenigbo road. It can be seen that the govt marked these roads and have also erected streetlight posts in these major roads awaiting the fixing of the lamps. The roads also have pedestrian walkway...
Modified: I think I will stick with UC here.. . Nwanna, thanks for keeping to your words. From what i can see from the pictures, we have a second city in Enugu state on our hands.. It's just a matter of time before Nsukka explodes. With it being a university town and with these road, constructions, things will definitely change for the better. |

Fantastic win for MFM away from home.!
Ifeanyi Ubah FC needed two penalties (missed one, scored one) to beat Rangers! Oga, sorry oo. I thought as much. MFM is another team to watch out for. I think they should be second on the log after Plateau. Atleast if they can't win the league, they can escape relegation. I'm happy for Ifeanyi Uba against my team (rangers). This is not Ranger's season. They should sha escape relegation. |

Politics › Are Nigerians Afraid Of Buhari? by Afam4eva(op): 4:11pm On Feb 05, 2017 |
With the withdrawal of facebook with a protest that he helped organize and popularize leaves us with the question that a lot of people are too afraid to ask? Are Nigerians afraid of Buhari? if they're not then i don't understand how a protest can generate so much fear especially in the minds of the proponents.
I remember during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, people were protesting left, right and center without fear of intimidation (even though they were intimidated a few times) but since Buhari took office, the only groups that i've seen defy the odds are The IPOB groups and the SHITE group and they've had to pay for it dearly. in Buhari's barely two years as president, we have lost hundreds of youths in extra judicial circumstances, mostly from the army and the police.
Is there really a difference between the presidency of Muhammadu Buhari and the regime of General Sani Abacha because they seem the same to me. Buhari is just hiding under the cloak of a democracy to perpetuate fear and intimidation.
I ask, are Nigerian afraid of Buhari? |
