because u gave the north the two most important instruments. of power the presidency and legislature neverdone in our history.
Majority of SW Senators never voted Bukola Saraki. His Senate Presidency was even championed by the SE and SS folks than others.

Same with Dogara. The SW Honourables never voted for him. They voted for Gbajabiamila. The SE and SS Honourables voted for Dogara just to spite Tinubu.

Dogara won by just 7 votes. Don't come and turn things around. A lot of us remember these events.

Assuming Ngige was elected Senator, he would have gotten the senate Presidency without qualms.

PoliticsRe: Anambra state is the least indebted (domestic debt) state in Nigeria - DMO by agabusta: 1:27am On Nov 13, 2016
It must be pointed out that being indebted is not entirely bad, if the debt was used to make the state more productive and viable. The United states is one of the most indebted countries in the world.

But their financial viability and productivity is 2nd to none.

I have visited the DMO website to extract the external (foreign) debts of each state.

Here is the reference:

PoliticsRe: Anambra state is the least indebted (domestic debt) state in Nigeria - DMO by agabusta: 1:06am On Nov 13, 2016
This is misleading. Why putting up only the domestic debt?

The DMO should have put up both the domestic and foreign segment of state debts so that the actual debt position of the states can be known.

Some states may be having high domestic debt and low foreign debt while some others may be having high foreign debt and low domestic debt.

I know Edo state is having high foreign debt. But here, they have a low domestic debt which is kind of misleading.

OP kindly upload the foreign debts.

Jegede did not wait.

The case was delivered on 14th october by abang. They approach abang to obtain leave of appeal which Abang refuse on the 27th of october. Several high court cases restrain INEC from substituting his name. But INEC acted on abang rule.

Hence the latest ruling of Appeal
You guys should stop with all these misinformation. Which several high court cases retrained INEC??

Why not cite the cases for us, to validate your assertions??

They only got an injunction from the State High court against INEC, which is nonsense. A state high court cannot give an injunction against the lawful execution of the ruling of a Federal High Court.

What were they doing all this while that they didn't go to the Appeal court to nullify Abang's ruling?

Even kids know that a state high court cannot tie the hand of the Judgment of a Federal High Court. Of course, it's only PDP guys accustomed to impunity that will expect INEC to be a part of their rascality.

So another court case gonna come up before we will know the authentic PDP flagbearer.
Yes of course. The substantive case is not what is been looked into.

agabusta:
The recent judgement by Justice Okon Abang was hinged on an earlier judgement he gave in June. That judgement he gave in June, Jegede was not a party to it. Which means he cannot appeal the judgement because he was not a party to it.

The implication of that is that he first, has to seek the consent of the court to be joined as a party to a case he was not part of ab initio.

Also, I think (not sure) an appeal is supposed to be filed within 90 days of a judgement. And it is already more that 90 days that the June judgement of Justice Okon Abang was given. He also needs the consent of the court to file an appeal against this Judgement because it is outside of the normal period within which an appeal can be filed.

Nigeria to dredge Calabar port to accommodate large vessels

The Chairman, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Emmanuel Adesoye, says the Federal Government plans to dredge the Calabar Port to enable large vessels berth and do business.

Mr. Adesoye made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Calabar on Wednesday.

“We have seen most of these facilities. They are excellent facilities. They are opportunities waiting to be tapped.

“We know that these are areas that can really help Nigeria in terms of incomes, especially foreign currencies, if properly developed.

“There are also challenges. For example, the one we see is the draft situation in this area; it’s a little bit shallow; we need to do a lot of dredging.

“We need to make it accessible for big ships that can come here and do business with us.

Mr. Adesoye expressed the hope that the dredging of the Calabar channel would begin as soon as possible.

“One of the greatest incentives is to make sure that the draft line is okay for ships to come in here.

“That is the greatest, because when is there, there are business people that are willing to trade with us.
“We want to trade with the others and we are going to have to do a lot of information sharing so that people will now know that this place is ready for ships to come on board here.

“That is one of the things we are going to do and then security wise, I think we are going to work on the security also to make people believe that this area is safe to transact business.

“If you read my acceptance speech during the inauguration, I think the passage of that bill is one of the cardinal points we mention in that thing.

“That this board will be willing to work with the National Assembly to make the passage of the bill as quickly as possible.
“We are going to work on it definitely.”

The NPA chair stressed the need to go back to the drawing board as quickly as possible to make the Calabar port more viable economically.

I will post this just the same way I posted it on the other thread

What's the confirmation that those are new artillery?

I have visited some artillery brigades and the arsenal I saw there are as good as new because they are not used regularly.

Just because they are mounted on transport vehicles does not make them new. That is how they are transported. And they may also be refurbished gear called new- Naija style. It's a 2-way thing.

Infact, looking at that last tank, that the video concentrated on towards the end of the video, that does not look like a brand new 21st century tank. It looks repainted. And it has some loose aluminium. That is definitely not a brand new tank. If one looks at inside of the rims, it looks recently painted and new, but if one inspects the chains that cannot be painted, it portrays that the tank is not new.

They are not wise. They are supposed to go back to the field and continue campaigning like nothing happened while they delegate another team to monitor their legal processes. By abandoning their campaign and running after court cases, they seem to be falling into the trap set for them.

The election is in less than 1 month. And the appeal they are chasing is not even the substantive appeal.

BusinessRe: Nigeria To Begin Rice Exportation - Prof. Bola Okuneye by agabusta: 4:27am On Nov 03, 2016
This is a welcome development. It's just sad that Nigerians are not ready for the 'seeding' period on any issue. They just want to have it available and cheap at every instant without making the necessary sacrifices needed for such.

The foreign rice that we have gotten accustomed to, they also paid the rice initially for investment.

They have now turned us into a 'consumer' nation for their products and in the process causing upheavals in our forex system.

We can produce enough rice for the country to eat here in Nigeria and as such reduce the forex spent on rice importation.

If the PMB govt succeeds in actual sense in reducing the importation of petroleum products, wheat, flour and rice by 2018, the naira will definitely be stronger and they would have done very well.

Fellow Nigerians hungry for cheap rice, kindly exercise patience. This is a critical time in our nation building, and we must persevere to grow the local industry.

Serious rice revolution is happening in Agriculture from Anambra to Kebbi to Ebonyi to Niger, we must not throw in the towel at this time.

China that achieved self-sustenance in everything, didn't achieve it cheaply. There was a cost to it. China has a thriving local production for everything. They even have their own version of Google. We must as much as possible reduce our crave for foreign products and services if we want to indeed assert ourselves as an independent nation.

Unserious peeps. The man has been trying his best and paying salaries.

Everybody knows that states are having financial issues and they are to show more understanding.

Imagine, so many states have been unable to pay pension for many years, and these workers are trying to blackmail the state govt to abandon the contributory pension scheme, which was a novel idea to reduce the weight of pensions on govt finances. They are not serious at all. Do they think it's only Ogun state workers that has been switched to the contributory pension scheme? Even Federal University workers are on same now and ASUU has accepted it's fate on that.

Their other demands about cooperative deductions, the govt should do quick and give them their money. I wonder why it is the govt that is helping them manage their cooperative money in the first instance.

Is it not supposed to be independently managed by the NLC themselves??

Why involve govt? Anyways, Amosun should pay them their money.

It's good the state govt has also agreed to start. Paying retiring workers' gratuities in phases. So many states in Nigeria has not paid gratuities for years, some running to 10 yrs. The FG is also guilty of owning gratuities.

It's not an Ogun state thing, I guess that was the reason Amosun was frustrated and blew his temper in an unbecoming manner of a leader.

Amosun is trying, and i'm happy the workers have come to reason with the state govt. Everything is not by confrontation. Infact, a govt paying salaries regularly should first be commended before other demands are tabled.

Ex-Ondo Rep may lose property to bank over loan

By Abiodun Badejo on November 23, 2015

http://dailypost.ng/2015/11/23/ex-ondo-rep-may-lose-property-to-bank-over-loan/

A former lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Agboola Ajayi may any moment from now forfeit his property worth over N1b to the United Bank of Africa(UBA).

This according to a source followed his alleged inability to refund a N200m loan granted him by the first generation bank.

The property, sources said include a residential building, located at House No. 5, 69A, D Close, Gwarimpa II Estate, Abuja and construction company’s equipment used as collateral for the said loan.

DAILY POST gathered that the was granted to the former legislator’s company, Don Frat Jercess Construction Ltd in February, 2014.

Ajayi, a former chairman of Ese-Odo local government and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)Ondo state had approached the Okitipupa branch of UBA in January, 2014 for the said loan.

It was learnt that the sum of N142m was granted to him to enable him execute the asphalt laying Kiribo-Gada-Igbekebo road project, awarded to him by the ousted government of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

The loan, sources said accumulated to over N200m due to his inability to service it at the stipulated time.

An official of the Bank who spoke in confidence said, Ajayi defaulted in the payment and in an attempt to beat the bank to it, agreed to dispose some of the collateral which included his residential building at Gwarimpa II, Abuja and his construction company’s equipment.

Ajayi however sought an injunction at Abuja High Court to restrain the bank from selling his property in lieu of the said loan.

In a suit no: FCT/HC/CV/266/15, dated November 20,he prayed the court to grant him an injunction, retraining the bank from selling or taking over his property.

But Justice Bello Kawu ordered that status quo ante be maintained pending the determination of the substantive suit and adjourned the matter till December 1.

Sources said Ajayi’s current action was belated as the bank had already sold the property.

It was revealed that the house of the former legislator has been allegedly possessed by a senior military officer in Abuja through the UBA.

According to the agreement he made with the bank, the politician was expected to pay back the loan by February this year, but defaulted in doing so for undisclosed reasons.

The bank in its effort to retrieve the loan had petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to urgently intervene in the matter.

When contacted ,Ajayi admitted that his company approached the bank for the said loan which was eventually granted it.

He however maintained that nobody could take his property from him, saying” It is not Agboola Ajayi that is indebted to the bank but my company . I could not pay the money because federal government has not paid me for the road project executed at Kiribo-Gada-Igbekebo.

He described himself as a man of honour, who will never do anything to tarnish his reputation.

The former lawmaker promised to pay the money as soon as the federal government pays for the project executed.

EXCLUSIVE: How Agboola Ajayi emerged as APC Ondo Deputy Governorship candidate
By Wale Odunsi on October 20, 2016

Indications have emerged on how the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State selected Agboola Ajayi, as the deputy governorship candidate of the party ahead of the November 26 governorship election.

APC in a congratulatory message last week by the state publicity secretary Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, said the emergence was a result of thorough homework.

The development has put paid to speculations on who would be the running mate to APC candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

DAILY POST gathered that the race that led to the emergence was not without intrigues.

No fewer than eighteen individuals were invited to meet with a Search Committee set up by Akeredolu.

The committee was under the chairmanship of Barr. (Mrs.) Olajumoke Anifowoshe, daughter of first republic governor of the state, Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin.

Other members of the committee included Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, a former Finance Commissioner, Hon. Victor Olabintan, a former speaker; Mr. Bankole Oluwajana, who served as the secretary to the Committee and a former permanent secretary, Dr. O. Shebba.

Among those interviewed were Hon. Agboola Ajayi, a former House of Representatives member; Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa from Ilaje Local Government area; Boye Adegbemisoye a former Commissioner for Special Duties; Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, a former House of Representatives member from Akure South and two governorship aspirants who contested the primary with Akeredolu, Messrs Tunji Light Ariyomo and Odunayo Akinrisola.

The list also featured prominent women such as Engr. (Mrs.) Janet Adeyemi, a former House of Representatives member and Special Assistant to the President; Mrs. Oladunni Odu, a former SUBEB Chairperson in the state.

Our correspondent learnt that another woman, a former House of Assembly member from Lagos State was alleged to have been frantically promoted by the State Party Chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke.

Prominent Muslim leaders in Ondo also pushed to have one of theirs take up the position in the predominantly Christian state. Muslim party members who showed interest in deputy slot enlisted the support of their Imams.

An insider who saw the committee report told our correspondent that three names were eventually shortlisted on merit after the screening exercise.

Their names are Lucky Ayedatiwa (Ilaje), Tunji Ariyomo (Akure) and Ifedayo Abegunde (Akure).

Ifedayo Abegunde: Popularly known as Abena, is probably only rivalled by Senator Tayo Alasodura as the leading figure in the APC in his local government. Widely respected by party members who see him as a rallying point, he is considered a loyal member of the Aketi team who stood by him throughout the primary. As a grassroots politician, his simple nature would endear him to many and positively rob off on the ticket.

Tunji Ariyomo: Hails from the same local government as Abegunde but new to the Akeredolu team. He is a technocrat whose youthful demeanor could enhance APC appeal to the general public. One of the aspirants for the gubernatorial ticket, Ariyomo was expected to act as a bridge with the youth demography to generate momentum and neutralize the impact of Eyitayo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the Central Senatorial district.

Lucky Ayedatiwa: He made the shortlist in recognition of his huge grassroots clout and popularity among the Ilaje people. If selected, the Committee members had hoped that he would be able to rally the Ilaje nation and allied communities in the Southern Senatorial district as an electorate mobilizer as well as check the growing influence of Olusola Oke, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) candidate in the region.

However, penultimate Wednesday, it became clear that none of those shortlisted was eventually picked as the party retained the name of Agboola Ajayi from Ese Odo which had earlier been submitted as a surrogate.

DAILY POST sources say Agboola Ajayi emerged, having played a very crucial role that boosted the chances of Akeredolu. He was said to have committed heavy financial resources to the project during the primary election.

He is also a powerful grassroots mobilizer and well rooted politician in his Ese-Odo local government. Furthermore, his political influence cuts across the entire Southern senatorial district which has Okitipupa, Ilaje, Irele, Odigbo and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local governments.

What the choice implies is that the APC candidate has joined his counterpart in the AD in leaving the Central Senatorial district for the PDP.

The district has the highest voters’ registration in Ondo state.

However, if INEC obeys a recent Federal High Court ruling which affirms Jimoh Ibrahim as the authentic candidate of the PDP thereby nullifying the famed candidature of Eyitayo Jegede, then political calculations in the Central district would change.

In the meantime, the PDP has forwarded the name of Prince John Ola Mafo to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the running mate to Eyitayo Jegede.

Why are you so particular about Lagos loosing it's economy? It seems to give you some delight which I find strange.

I hope this is not a result of envy.

What's the big deal with Lagos that you are even still wishing it to go down economically? Are all the roads motorable? Is there superb housing and transportation? Is there good housing and stable electricity? Is there no poverty, lack and anguish in Lagos just like other states?

It's only in Africa people living in poverty and struggle still envy themselves and try to bring each other down.

Go to the US and see successful states! That the economy of one is on the rise does not bring down the economy of the other.

The success of US is as a result of the conglomeration of highly successful and viable states.

That Alabama/Colorado/Indiana hopes to rise to be more viable economically does not mean they should be hoping for the downfall of California/New York/Texas.

You need to change your mentality. That the economy of Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Anambra blossoms massively will not mean the economy of Lagos and Kano will go down.

Infact it's a plus to the country if we have so many states with blossoming economy.
