KwaraRat:
Why were they deploying AA guns to fight bokos in the first place who have zero air capabilities?

Whoever ordered the AA guns to be deployed in the first place must be held responsible.

This is confirmation that there are boko sympathisers in th army as these weapons are meant to counter air strikes by the airforce.
And who told you AA guns are only used to attack aircrafts?? Boko Haram is using AA guns to attack our troops and you dont want us to reciprocate?

AA guns have long distance capabilities. And they can be very effective in a desert terrain or even anywhere firepower is required. It can be used to effectively destroy gun-mounted trucks kilometres away.

Its a very important weapon.
PoliticsRe: Rotimi Akeredolu Emerges As APC Governorship Candidate In Ondo State by agabusta: 8:01am On Sep 04, 2016

That's not true.

Ondo North has the following local governments:
1. Akoko North-East
2. Akoko North-West
3. Akoko South-East
4. Akoko South-West
5. Owo
6. Ose

Ondo Central
1. Akure South
2. Akure North
3. Ondo East
4. Ondo West
5. Ifedore
6. Idanre

Ondo South
1. IleOluji/Oke Igbo
2. Odigbo
3. Irele
4. Ilaje
5. Okitipupa
6. Ese odo

Ondo has eighteen (18) local governments, three senatorial districts with each having six local governments.
My bad. You are correct.
PoliticsRe: Rotimi Akeredolu Emerges As APC Governorship Candidate In Ondo State by agabusta: 4:34am On Sep 04, 2016
bayooooooo:
Often, many confuse primary with general election. If Aketi doesn't manage well the fallout of his victory, he will lose the general election.

1. I don't see Aketi winning Ondo Central which has the chunks of the votes. Mimiko is from Ondo town and will do everything possible to win the town with a reasonable margin. With Eyitayo being from Akure, Mimiko will also win the capital city. Even recently, Akeredolu gave an interesting interview where he claimed Akure people are minority in Akure. Can you imagine? He is not even planning to win the town. In a free and fair election, I don't see APC winning Ondo central with the two key towns firmly in the hands of PDP.

2. Aketi is from Ondo North which is where the Akokos are. Infact, had Boroffice (471) and Abraham(635) worked together, they would have defeated Aketi(669). Even though he won, Aketi doesn't look, to me, as being in control of APC machinery in Ondo North. He still needs Boroffice and Abraham to work with him. Now that's where it gets interesting because all the three: Aketi, Abraham and Borrofice are in a way allies of Tinubu. I have a feeling that apart from Buhari, the only person who can actually bring the three together to work in harmony is Tinubu. The margin of Aketi's victory is so small that the machinery of his government can actually be controlled by the so called losers. And that's the nature of politics. If they work together, APC will win Ondo North in a landslide. Otherwise, it's all over for Aketi.

3. All things being equal, Ondo South is where the election will be won or lost. Since both Boroffice who is already a senator and Abraham are from Ondo North, the same senatorial district as Aketi, I don't see them being running mates. And it will be a monumental strategic mistake to choose a running mate from Ondo Central. Would Tinubu tie his support of rallying Abraham and Boroffice for the candidate to choosing the running mate? And would the running mate be Akintelure or Olusola Oke, both politically toxic picks for Aketi? If he doesn't grant enough concessions, he stands the risk of losing the election. If he grants too much, he will win but government machinery will not be in his hands.

I think APC needs to rewrite its primary rules such that top three candidates should advance until a candidate wins 50% of the entire delegates.
Owo where Aketi comes from is Central Senatorial District.

Why isn't operating black markets a crime that comes with stiff punishment?

Oh, wait scratch that. I forgot we're talking about Nigeria here.
So far the dollar is not readily available at the banks, there will always be a parallel market offering it for sale.

The parallel markets cannot be eradicated by wielding the big stick. It can only be eradicated when anybody that needs dollars can easily walk into any bank to get it.

For the banks to have a ready availability of dollars, then the supply of dollars to them must be higher than the demand.

For this to happen, we must considerably reduce our need of dollars for imports and at the same time, increase our capacity to earn more dollars.

The people whose currency are not free falling against the dollar are those who don't have much need of it for their economy to survive.

The opposite is the case in Nigeria where we need it to import virtually everything ranging from petroleum products, steel, rice, wheat, electronic gadgets, cars, heavy equipment, education, health services, aviation services, etc. This is in addition to the need to import other petty things.

Only in Nigeria you can see forex black market. Banks should be selling at same price with bureau de change. This will stop prices from going up and people doing business with it by buying at official price and go and sell black market.
Kindly give suggestions on how this can be effected. This is in view of the insatiable appetite of the country for dollars far beyond the capacity of the federal government.

The world has moved from just ordinary criticism to proffering solutions alongside any criticism.

Dangote. A wise and temperate man who saw opportunity in aligning with the two major political parties.

He is achieving results and reaping the fruits of his cool headedness.

He is unlike some people who erroneously think everything is by chest beating and noise making.

It is quite surprising that one man was wise enough to see the opportunity inherent in strategically aligning with these two parties while a whole tribe is still grappling with this simple wisdom key.

Wisdom is indeed crying in the street.

Read the article again. The valid reason is well stated there.

The man is smart, he knows that he can be embarrassed in the future. When one 'Pharaoh that doesn't know Joseph' comes on board and then decided to ask why he was given a car gift by the state govt, when the laws of the state has already been modified not to recognise him as a former governor.

The man is wise. If they want to reward him, let them first amend the state laws to recognise those who were former governors from the entity from which the state was created as also former governors of the created state.
PoliticsRe: Appeal Court To Decide Ikpeazu's Fate, Thursday August, 18th by agabusta:
cktheluckyman:
No matter what happens today, the status quo will remain until the Supreme Court rules
Not necessarily so. That can only happen when the supreme court grants a stay of execution. It is not automatic like that of an election petition tribunal judgement being appealed.

In a case decided by an election petition tribunal, when an appeal is filed at a higher court, you automatically have a stay of execution.

In this case, a High court has already given INEC certain orders which they are to comply with. And they have done so.

The holder of INEC certificate of return is supposed to be sworn in to the position of the certificate he/her is holding and in this case, Abia state governor.

Ikpeazu just cunningly used a another court to tie the hands of those expected to administer the oath of office on the holder of the certificate of return.

If the appeal court agrees with Justice Okon Abang's ruling, the order of Okon Abang's court can be carried out as the order of the state high court barring the Chief Judge from swearing in Ogah will become null and of no effect consequent upon the ruling of the higher court (in this case, the Appeal Court).

What can stop this is if an appeal is speedily filed at the supreme court, and the supreme court grants a stay of execution.

(Kindly take note of the highlighted part)

I can see you are really pained by something that's really far beyond my previous comment.

Announced that i work in the energy sector? Are you for real? If you are not proud of where you currently work Oga i do.

Oh, thanks for correcting me on the meaning and how to use the word 'innate', i do appreciate it SIR.

Cunning mind? sir its just my view and as far as i'm aware you dont have to go that far. 'IT IS MY VIEW'!!!

We never enjoyed such during GEJ tenure? You dont have conscience.
Alright, I apologise if I was unnecessarily harsh. But sincerely, announcing that you work in the power sector is irrelevant.

I make bold to say again, that the stability we enjoyed for some period (about 2-3 months) last year like a month or two after Buhari took over, and what we are also experiencing presently was not enjoyed throughout GEJ's tenure. Now dont get me wrong that there was no power supply during GEJ's tenure. I'm just saying that peak was never recorded.

I have conscience and I'm stating it categorically. The stability we enjoyed for about 2months last year is quite unprecedented. And it is about repeating itself again now. Its not a matter of talk, just tell us the period (months or year if you cannot pin a particular month) during GEJ's time, that such power supply and stability was recorded.

Mind you i work in the Energy sector and i know what each administration has contributed into the grown of the power sector so far.

NOTE: Stop generalizing, it's childish.
Foundation? Obj set the pace Oga.

If you indeed work in the energy sector you should know that by giving his cronies advantage in the bidding for those discos, GEJ drew that industry back.

Many of the challenges being faced by the discos is largely due to their lack of technical competence.

Hate? GEJ is not hated mind you. He has his own ups and downs. I have always been saying it, why do some of you always scream 'hate' whenever GEJ is criticised?

It seems you don't know the meaning of 'innate', kindly check the meaning and appropriate it's usage next time.

In your cunny mind, you saw it appropriate to give credit to GEJ, and didn't see any reason to commend those that have been saddled with the burden for more than 1 year now??

Those that are being abused day and night for the power issue, Oga quit hypocrisy and give honour to whom it is due as u stated.

And it is not only you that work in the energy sector, your announcement is irreverent.

We have never enjoyed such throughout GEJ tenure. If you dispute/doubt, bring out your facts.

It will be to the advantage of the country as a whole if substantial quantity of crude oil is discovered in the North. So please wish them well.

If commercial quantity is discovered over there, and investors build at least 3 refineries, I bet you Nigeria will be exporting petroleum products to the neighboring countries; earning foreign exchange in the process.

The will be massive job opportunities over there.

There will be a reduction of the tankers coming all the way to Lagos to lift fuel, and as such preserve the roads and reduce accidents.

It will provide the Northern governors with more money, which they can use to improve the standard of education and poverty over there.

The benefits are just too much!

Ugosample:
These SW guys like over estimating their importance in Nigerian politics.....
So in the last elections, you think Buhari would have won without winning Kwara, Kogi, Benue and Plateau; D cheesy

With the way Fulani herdsmen have dealt a deadly blow to the middle belt, they would never vote a herdsmen for second term.
And if course, the SE/SS would never vote a herdsman too, even if they have to vote another northerner over him.
And that is 11 states against SW 6.
The core north will be split because PDP will adopt a northern candidate too; At least that candidate will win his state, and the States around him.
With all these happening, you think the SW has the way alone grin

Anyways, all these ones are speculation, let God keep us alive till 2019.
Nobody is overestimating anything, just postulating based on past occurrences. It is you guys that are even overestimating PMB's support in the SW. SW elections is never an easy ride for anybody. All the SW states gubernatorial election have been won and lost by both PDP and APC progenitor asides Lagos.

Of course the North Central also paid a key role in Buhari's victory. Without their votes the election would have been a stalemate and will not have been in Buhari's favour.

The North Central just like the SW will be divided but PMB may still edge out a slight victory as it happened in 2015.

Even before the 2015 election, there have always been herdsmen/farmers clash and I can vividly remember also that even here on Nairaland, PDP supports said this was going to work against PMB in the 2015 election but the opposite was the case. They shouted it to the high heavens here on nairaland that the middlebelt would never vote for a Fulani. People like us who told them then, that it was not as rigid as they were saying it were shouted down and insulted.

The only thing that can work against PMB in 2019 in those states is if the APC governors over there continues on a woeful performance till 2019.

Saying a simple "sorry" is an abomination.
Let's tell ourselves the bitter truth, yorubas voted out the last administration cos they didn't like the face of the man in power, they couldn't just fathom any other than a SW or Northerner in power. But just like in the case of Mandela, whose greatness shone brighter after he left power, the same now applies to the immediate past president. Whom God has blessed, no man can cause.
We know you guys made a mistake by preferring a dullard to be ur leader and we're seeing the obvious effect, buh stop with the justification of your inadequacies and errors of judgment, Nigeria has moved on long ago.
And if you still feel haunted by your past action (esp as the hunger is biting harder [boy! no one eats like the yorubas], and you can't reconcile urself with the realities of today) , then knock urself out with this.......
You guys entertain yourselves a lot with deception. All what you wrote there is balderdash.

The SW still gave GEJ about 45% or more of their votes.

How come you people find it difficult to understand that, disagreeing with GEJ's style of leadership and administration does not mean he is hated in the SW??

Please don't equate your hatred for Buhari to generalize that the SW also hate GEJ.

And the peeps opposed to Buhari are still yet to attain political maturity. They think it's by abuses and half truths. Despite all the abuses and half truths of pre 2015 elections, Buhari still won.

Exactly same mistake PDP made by focusing on abuses instead of showing better alternatives.

If it continues this way, Buhari may still win 2nd term with the help of the south west. The SW voters are less emotional and sentimental. People opposed to Buhari are just too emotional emphatically refusing to acknowledge the foundation of the economic problems we are having now.

PoliticsRe: Ize-iyamu: I Have Details Of Apc’s Plans To Make Poll Inconclusive by agabusta:
Why is this man talking like an illiterate??

He erroneously thinks appeal to emotions and sentiments can save him??

What is the meaning of inconclusive election? He doesn't even seem to know.

An election is declared inconclusive simply to protect the interest of those contesting in cases where overvoting is recorded or where there is incontrovertible evidence of wide scale violence.

Cancellation of some polling unit results where there is evidence of magomago can even be to his own advantage!

The simple reason there seem to be an upsurge of inconclusive elections now is simple because INEC has now decided to be doing the right thing by reconducting elections in polling units where elections were cancelled. This is especially when the margin between the leading candidate and the runner-up is less than the registered voters in the units cancelled.

Most of the re-runs conducted consequent to declaring an election inconclusive has even shown that the leading candidate always still wins the election.

I am yet to see where a runner-up was able to upturn the seeming 'victory' of a leading candidate in all the re-runs done so far following declaring an election inconclusive.

Declaring the election inconclusive most times is just for INEC to satisfy all 'righteousness' and not leave legal loopholes that may be used in court to nullify the election.

When will PDP change from this their penchant for sentimental campaigns??

They did it last election and were handed a defeat. One would have thought their defeat last year will lead to abandonment of such unhealthy campaign strategy.
