She writes! I like that. It means she's no coward. She is ready to put her ideas forward and ready for the criticisms that will surely follow. Beautiful brainy lady. More wisdom and strength to you. |
cktheluckyman:He is trying to maneuver money laundering eyes. |
ChetaNwaeze:Are you the real at @Chxta? |
Saraki should just resign abeg. This embarrassment is getting too much. He should pls spare the office of the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from this embarrassment. |
This is a big lesson to serving officers. Always maintain your professionalism in the line of duty. The worst that can happen is for you to be sidelined at that particular time. And maybe tongue lashed. You can't even be fired/demoted sef. But you can be rest assured that you won't run into trouble waters in the future when power changes hands. |
Correct guy |
wiseoneking:Why the thing come pain u na ![]() |
SleekAboki:Stop misinforming the public. The CBN only sells dollars to banks and not to individuals and companies, this is not the regime of the ineffectual buffoon where everything goes. |
Smart guy wants to push himself into relevance. My guy don dey do special adviser already without qualms. He definitely wants more ![]() No be small task na, to take down a President daughter There must be returns on investment ![]() |
socialmediaman:States also earn in Nigeria through tenement charges to the Telcos. The Local govts also tax the Telcos thru different envt levies. Infact, Telcos are currently being overtaxed from multiple sources. |
obailala:You are so on point. I ignore them most of the time. They have a very thick skull, it's really not worth it engaging in intelligent discussions with them. All they want to do is wail. They started wailing right from when PMB was just sworn in, in fact it was this time that they were given the name sef. |
doctokwus:Those guys are so difficult to talk sense into. I really appreciate your efforts. Me I don leave them to dey fool themselves. They all behave like drug induced zombies. They are too dull to notice the gradual in roads APC is making in the SS states. APC is definitely making noticeable in roads. Most especially in Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa-Ibom. The inroads will give PMB a resounding victory in 2019 if his administration performs reasonably well. |
emrain:Where this one crawl from?? APC was also the problem during the presidential and gubernatorial election last year when they were killing APC members anyhow and disrupting their campaigns at every turn?? You better remove sentiments from your views. Those PDP goons are facing opposition for the first time in Rivers state. Everyone familiar with Rivers politics knows this. |
ice25:You have come again with warped reasoning without having facts of the incident. |
Chai, they have turned election to war. This is so sad and despicable. Let all the states in Nigeria get used to having opposition. From the North to the South. One of the reasons this war like situation is happening is because some SS states are not used to have any resemblance of opposition. No easy ride to governance anywhere again. Let every nook and cranny of the country get used to having some form of opposition or the other. And let all parties canvass for votes without resorting to mindless bloodshed. RIP to the Corps member, may God comfort your family. |
Rivers Rerun: Missing INEC Electoral Officer Found, Youth Corps INEC Ad Hoc staff killed INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak, has confirmed that the electoral officer for Ikwerre who was earlier declared missing during the Rivers rerun election has been found alive. Mr Osifo Osaze is reported to have been attacked by gunmen who opened fire on his vehicle but he managed to escape his assailants into the bush. The REC told Channels Television that Mr Osaze was found with bullet wounds and has been taken to hospital for treatment. In another incident, a Youth Corps ad hoc INEC official was killed during violence at a polling unit in Ahoada West Local Government area on Saturday. Mr Ikoiwak said that further announcements on the polls will be made in due course. INEC had suspended further activities in the Rivers State rerun elections following the violent incidents trailing the conduct of the polls. In a statement late on Sunday, INEC’s Director in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, regretted that “some of these elections witnessed the disruption of the process, including the barricading of some of the INEC Local Government offices and Registration Area Centres (RACs) used for the distribution of Electoral materials which led to the late commencement of the exercise in some places and consequently, its smooth take off”. He said that “the suspension does not affect constituencies where the exercise has been completed and the results declared by the returning officers”. INEC had earlier suspended election in eight local government areas of the state. Addressing reporters earlier on Sunday the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak, said that the cancelation was due to irregularities at the affected local government areas. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/03/21/rivers-rerun-missing-inec-electoral-officer-found/

Senseless article from people who claim they are religiously more tolerant. |
BADNEAT:Chai. And u claim u know legal issues?? With your loose choice of words, it is evident u are highly ignorant of legal matters. An accused cannot 'decide' to have his case transferred. An accused can only request to have his case transferred, which is dependent on the court and other judicial authorities. It is not automatic. |
falseman:You are the one that is dull. That news was released at about 1pm. In Nigerian elections, given the sloppy performance of INEC over the years, you cannot categorically come out at 1pm to state that there is no election. You can only protest that voting has not started! Or that materials has not arrived! What is the meaning of no election?? Do u even know the difference between election and voting? What u have written here, how does it relate to the issue. People who are claiming that the process has not started at all are also alleging fake result sheets. Is that not contradictory? How did they know the result sheets are fake? Why not show us a sample of it and let INEC provide explanations for that. Let me educate u a little, election is a process. And voting is part of the process. Distribution of materials is part of the process as well. |
For them to know the result sheet is fake means they have seen the original. The question is where are the picture of the fake and original result sheets that these crowd saw and are protesting against. I think some people are taking propaganda to a dangerous level. You can tell us election has not yet started in Bonny hence you are protesting. But for you to categorically state that there is no election in Bonny at this time is taking it to far. They are even contradicting themselves. Is it that election materials has not arrived at all OR the materials have arrived but the voters rejected them that they are fake? |
BADNEAT:Why not tell us what you know about 'Law' and how it relates to the issue?? |
Manslaughter: Ibinabo Fiberesima seeks bail on health grounds Embattled ex-beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has urged the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, which last Friday affirmed the five years’ imprisonment imposed on her by a Lagos State High Court. The actress is also asking the Court of Appeal to release her on bail pending when the Supreme Court would hear and determine her appeal against the appellate court’s judgment. In a six-paragraph affidavit of urgency filed in support of her bail application before the Court of Appeal, one Victor Eden said Fiberesima had just undergone a surgery for breast cancer and was still under the watch of her doctors. Eden said Fiberesima’s surgical wound had yet to properly heal, adding that the actress was afraid that her life might be endangered if kept in the prison custody. He said it would best serve the interest of justice to release Fiberesima on bail while the Supreme Court’s decision in her case was being awaited Eden said, “Her (Fiberesima) wound has not fully healed and as such she is afraid that her continued stay in the prison may endanger her life as she will not have access to special medical attention. “It will be in the interest of justice and for her health and safety for the appellant to be admitted to bail pending the hearing and determination of the appellant’s appeal before the Supreme Court.” But the bail application suffered a setback on Thursday as the Court of Appeal adjudged it as incompetent. Fiberesima’s lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, had told the appellate court panel comprising Justices U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu, Samuel Oseji and Tijani Abubakar that he had served the bail application on the Lagos State Government, which is the respondent in the appeal. But Justice Ndukwe-Anyanwu, who led the panel, observed that copies of the court judgments leading to Fiberesima’s conviction and sentence were not attached to the bail application. The judge said failure to attach the judgments had rendered the application incompetent, adding that the options left to the court in the circumstance were to either strike out the bail application or adjourn for the appellant to do the needful. Amaechina opted for an adjournment to enable him to “do the needful”. The panel consequently adjourned till April 7 to hear the application. Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of the state high court had in 2009 convicted Fiberesima of manslaughter, holding that her reckless driving was responsible for an auto crash, which claimed the life of one Dr. Giwa Suraj on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. While sentencing Fiberesima to five years imprisonment, Justice Oluwayemi overruled the decision of a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court which earlier ordered her to pay N100,000 for the offence. Last Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld Justice Oluwayemi’s judgment. But Fiberesima, through her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, approached the Supreme Court to challenge the appellate court judgment. Amaechina, in the grounds of the appeal, described the appellate court’s judgment as unreasonable and one that found no support in law in view of the evidence presented before it. He contended that the Appellate Court erred in law when it affirmed the judgment of the high court that set aside the N100,000 fine imposed on Fiberesima and sentenced her to five years imprisonment. The lawyer also contended that the Court of Appeal erred in law when it affirmed the inference by the high court that the magistrate’s court misused its discretion by giving Fiberesima N100,000 fine option for the manslaughter offence. http://www.punchng.com/41039-2/ lalasticlala http://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Ibinabo-Fiberesima-696x477.jpg |
believesama:To be a member of ISPON you must have completed their General HSE and their HSE Level 3 certificate course. Afterwards you'll pay for the membership form in the sum of 25k (as at Jan, not sure if price has changed). You'll write a project of not less than 30 pages in an area of Occupational health and safety. A membership examination is also conducted in addition to interview/screening of candidates to ascertain the authenticity of their qualifications. After successful completion of all the stages, induction is then carried out. As of now, they carry out 2 inductions per year. |
That Amaechi interview really pain Wike oh. Wike better cool down with his utterances and not isolate himself from all the security chiefs in the state. Well, maybe he has got his own plans on how to secure the state. Who knows |
Wike the tout This your cry "Amaechi is corrupt" is getting boring. We are still waiting for u to file your case in a court of competent jurisdiction. "Amaechi is corrupt, Amaechi is corrupt", u have still not taken the case to court. Your kangaroo judicial panel should have kick started the process which is supposed to ultimately lead to trying Amaechi in court. Please keep quiet if u can't take the case further. I'll advise u to concentrate on governance and stop unnecessary rancour with Amaechi. You are occupying a sensitive position and so should learn to ignore some things. |
LesbianBoy:If not for GEJ that turned himself into an ineffective bufffon in governance, PMB would not have gotten the Presidential seat. |
caleb404:Are u for real?? There should be a clear divide btw political partisanship and the interest of the larger populace. This country is filled with a lot of clowns who refers to people smarter than them as mumus and while ironically they are the greatest mumus. Does this look like a press release of the EFCC to u?? This is just a media organisation snooping around. Why not direct your demoralising criticism at Punch telling them to shut up instead of dragging our law enforcement agencies into your mumuish comment. Before, the hue and cry of pathetic folks like u is that they should go to court. Now the case is already in court and u are still whining "Get convictions". Don't worry, the approach is a systematic one. The current administration is taking a systematic approach to try these cases. There is nothing to rush about. Were all these guys picked at once immediately this Admin came on board?? No! They were even left alone at their duty post for a while, before they were strategically relieved and then also strategically picked up for their atrocities. A General that knows his onions does not do gra gra at the war front. PMB is currently waging a war at systemic and institutionalised corruption. Others before him has failed at this and has been appropriately referred to as an 'ineffectual buffoon' by posterity. The case has begun, but there is no need to rush, let all the pieces be put in place systematically, in order to get strategic convictions. I hope u can see the way systematic victory is being won against boko haram elements. At first when bombs were going off daily, myopic elements like u that lacks deep thinking capacity were all over the internet screaming. Now that no bomb has gone of in a long time, your hypocritical voice has not been heard in that perspective. Not too worry, when convictions start rolling in, you'll hear it with your own ears and see it with your own eyes. PMB will not manipulate the judicial process to get a conviction, as losers like u will not allow us hear word. This govt will play along and defeat the looters at the legal battles, and we the majority will support this war on corruption to the letter. There is also another dimension to this, when the crackdown on looters began, there was a massive surge in bombings, after the govt increased its pressure and further tightened it's hold on the looters, all of a sudden the govt began to be able to curtail such attacks. Nigerians are definitely seeing who the original boko harams are. Keep on giving them tacit support, mother nature is surely watching. |
Alex will surely have his day in court and definitely have his days in Kuje prison. These guys were so daring during the last administration to the extent that they helped themselves to whatever they can get without fear of repercussions. That shows they didn't have any regard at all for the Commander in Chief at that time. They were just deceiving him. From the foregoings, it is very obvious that Nigeria needs a very strong and firm leader to clean the stables. PMB is surely the right choice at this time. Though he is not an orator, nor exceptional in economic matters, his stance against corruption and his boldness is what Nigeria needs now. If we can achieve just 60% victory against corruption, the impact will be felt positively and most especially by people that do not have connection to the elite and high ranking govt officials. PMB's own words is very apt viz "If Nigeria do not kill corruption, corruption will definitely kill Nigeria". All this looters have almost taken life out of this country. Thank God for the timely intervention of PMB. It would have been only a while before the entire structure collapse on GEJ. |
Jona tried by not engaging in any unintelligent rough play with the handover. That is quite unlike desperate African leaders. But in governance he was an ineffectual buffoon who allowed some mofos to have a free run with public funds. |
nifdem:I will advise you to go for ISPON's courses most especially if you will like to pursue a career in safety. As a safety practitioner, you are expected to be member of ISPON. Those Ispon's courses are a prerequisite for their membership. Which means even if you don't do them now, whenever you are considering being a member of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), you'll still have to do them. |
INDIA'S MENSTRUATION MAN By Dirk GIlson It all began in 1998, when Arunachalam Muruganantham, the son of poor handloom weavers in South India, realised that his wife was using old rags to deal with menstruation because she couldn’t afford sanitary pads. Muruga was shocked. But he also saw a chance to impress her. He decided to produce her sanitary pads himself. At first it seemed a simple task: he bought a roll of cotton wool and cut it into pieces, the same size as the pads sold in the shops, and then wrapped a thin layer of cotton around it. He presented this homemade prototype pad to his wife and asked her to test it. The feedback she gave him was devastating: his pad was useless and she would rather continue using old rags. 300 million The number of women in India without access to safe menstrual hygiene products Where did he go wrong? What was the difference between his sanitary pads and those available at the shop? Muruga started experimenting with different materials, but was faced with another problem: he always had to wait a month before his wife could test each new prototype. Muruga needed volunteers and had an idea where he might find them. He askedmedical students at a university close to his village. Some of them actually tested his pads but they were too shy to give him detailed feedback. Left with no alternative, he decided to test the sanitary pads himself. He built a uterus using a rubber bladder, filled it with animal blood and fixed it to his hip. A tube led from the artificial uterus to the sanitary pad in his underpants. By pressing the bladder he simulated the menstrual flow. 1 in 5: The number of girls in India who drop out of school due to menstruation. Unfortunately he began to smell foul and his clothes were often stained with blood. His neighbours soon noticed this. It was clear to them that Muruga was either ill or perverted. After a while his wife couldn’t stand the constant gossip. She left him and went to live with her mother. But Muruga didn’t give up. He knew why he was going through all this. During his research he had learned that only ten totwenty percent of all girls and women in India have access to proper menstrual hygiene products. This was no longer just about helping his wife. Muruga was on mission: to produce low-cost sanitary pads for all the girls and women in his country. It was two years before he finally found the right material and another four years before he developed a way to process it. The result was an easy-to-use machine for producing low-cost sanitary pads.Imported machines cost over US$500,000. Muruga’s machine, by contrast, is priced at US$950. Now women’s groups or schools can buy his machine, produce their own sanitary pads and sell the surplus. In this way, Muruga’s machine has created jobs for women in rural India. He has started a revolution in his own country, selling 1,300 machines to 27 states, and has recently begun exporting them to developing countries all over the world. Today he is one of India’s most well-known social entrepreneurs and TIME magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2014. http://interactive.aljazeera.com/aje/shorts/india-menstruation-man/ INDIA'S MENSTRUATION MAN Filmmaker: Dirk Gilson Executive Producer: Yasir Khan Camera: Henryk Ditze & Dirk Gilson Article & Photos: Dirk Gilson Assistant Producer: Ziad Ramley Supported by a European Journalism Centre (ECJ)’s Innovation in Development Reporting Grant (IDR) |
