agabaI23:The presidency said its a lie. That PMB only received 2 SUVs and no cash. It is now left for the accuser, Dansuki to provide the evidence that indeed he gave him 5 cars and $300k, until he does that it will be foolishness to keep supporting his accusation. At least the accusation of the FGN against same Dansuki has been tabled before the court, and we even saw some of the evidences of such movements of cash being posted to the social media. |
ewigmee:Common sense should dictate that to you! The vehicles are not meant for decoration, they are meant to facilitate security and ease the movement of an erstwhile leader of the country. If there is an attempted assination of GEJ, and his vehicles gets damaged, it would be very senseless and callous of the present govt to tell him he has to wait for 4 years before the damaged cars has to be replaced. And the govt would also be liable to anything that happens to the person throughout that period. And as you can see from the submission of the legal mind, the vehicles are still the property of the FGN. Even if damaged, they would be taken by the FGN while a replacement is effected. |
Tequilah:Those Eko disco guys are bloody rogues. Ikeja Electricity is performing far better than them. |
Geniro:You are obviously a lunatic. Get off my mentions, animal. |
nduchucks:I agree with you, but all the others before them have been escaping judgement, and as such this is a good start. It will send a signal to others out there that things have changed. |
Nice one! But someone pls talk to me. Where are their Nigerian collaborators?? They definitely must have Nigerian collaborators. How come not even 1 person was identified and tried alongside these foreigners. Our security agencies seriously need to upgrade their investigative capabilities. These foreigners are not ghosts, they can't just come into Nigeria on their own, extract the crude on their own, load the crude on their own into their ship and then sail off. They definitely have Nigerian collaborators. |
Lagos—Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced nine foreign citizens to five years imprisonment each after convicting them for stealing 3,423,097 metric tons of crude oil from Nigeria. Five of the convicts are Filipinos while the other four are from Bangladesh. The convicts were intercepted by the Nigerian Navy on March 27, 2015 while they were trying to take the stolen product loaded in their vessel, MT Asteris, out of the country. Delivering his judgment, Justice Buba convicted them on four counts in relation to the crime and sentenced each of them to a jail term of five years with an option of N20 million. Handing down the sentence, the judge said he was satisfied that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which prosecuted the convicts, proved its case beyond reasonable doubts. “The case of the prosecution is as clear as the daylight,” the judge held, adding that the failure of the convicts to supply the evidence that they had lawful permit to deal in crude oil further strengthened the prosecution’s case. The judge said the evidence of the prosecution witnesses were not controverted. He agreed with the PW5 who stated that the product was illegally sourced in Nigeria as “the Department of Petroleum Resources confirmed to the EFCC that MT Asteris was not lincensed to deal with crude oil in Nigeria.” The judge further stated that it was the likes of the convicts that had made Nigeria a laughing stock in the eye of the world. He said it was not right for anyone to deprive the country the enjoyment of its natural resources through illegal means. Duty to send strong signal Justice Buba said the court has the duty to send a strong signal to Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike that the country has laws and the laws are enforceable. “It is people like the convicts that have made Nigeria a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. The court must send a strong signal that Nigeria is a nation; not a nation of booty. It is not right for either Nigerians or foreign nationals to deny this country its God-given natural resources through illegal use.” According to him, “this court hereby sentence each of the convicts to five years term of imprisonment on count one with effect from March 27, 2015 with an option of N5 million fine.” He also sentenced them to five years each on counts two, three and four or a fine of N5m for each count. He held that,”All the sentences are to run concurrently but not the option of fine. In addition, the vessel, MT Asteris, and the cargo on board are forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria. “For purposes of clarity, each convict is to serve five years term of imprisonment with effect from 27 of March, 2015 or a fine of N20 million for all the four counts.” The convicts who were convicted and jailed are Axel Joseph Gibo Jabone; MD Zahirul Islam; Juanito Camireno Infantado; Suarin Fernando Alave and Gatila Jaypee Gadayan. Others are Islam Shahinul; Islam Rafiqul; Shaikh Shibli Nomany and Rolando Jose Comendador. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/9-foreigners-jailed-5-years-for-oil-theft/ @Punch also featured same story: http://www.punchng.com/nine-foreign-oil-thieves-bag-five-years-jail/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Obinoscopy, OAM4J pls come here asap, the Nigerian justice system has caught the change mantra! No more hiding place for thieves! I also like the fact that the judgement include forfeiture of that their big ship! God forgive me, I was just greedily eyeing that their big ship when Channels TV showed it yesterday. . Will the FG auction it? Or give it to either the Navy or Nimasa. |
Why was such an amount released for constitutional amendments in the first place? |
Geniro:Keep quiet. Useless animal! You better find your way back to the hole u crawled out from. Nonsense. Idiotic thing that cannot utilize the brain given u for free. Every dissenting opinion to foolish dolts like u guys are being paid. |
sapiosexual1:Bros if u resist the directives of law enforcement in those called civilised countries, u'll be tackled to the ground and handcuffed, and taken forcefully. Fine, the court has granted him bail. But has he submitted the conditions to law enforcement officers? Or does he think he can just walk away free immediately the court pronounced bail? He still has to be in custody until he meets the bail conditions. And as such, he has no right to resist going with the officers. Even if it is the US, he'll be handcuffed & bundled. He is even lucky he was not handcuffed be the police. |
Duru1:Good! You can lead the protest against this gross violation of the appropriation Act. Only monies appropriately can be legally expended. |
Its no big deal to purchase Bullet proof jeeps for all Former Head of states. When the one they are using gets old and due for replacements. By law, they deserve to be properly protected, and that responsibility falls squarely on the FGN. But if it is the cash earmarked for Arms purchase that was diverted and used for that purpose, then Dansuki is guilty of misappropriation. Why didn't he make a request to purchase bullet proof cars for Ex Head of States in the 2015 budget? He is just forming smart, and trying to use that as justification for other illegal purposes he used the arms money for. The bullet proof jeep, GEJ went with now, when it gets old, it is the responsibility of the FGN to change it for him. But it should be properly appropriated in the budget. Not that they will take money meant to buy arms and use for another purpose. It is called stealing while using good intention as an alibi. |
Geniro:It is u that is demonstrating ignorance and stupidity. You got a news and u are not willing to stretch/exercise ur reasoning faculty before swallowing the information hook, line and sinker. I repeat that the Lag govt cannot definitely be so stupid as to carry out a fraud and then still retain the registration of the helicopters. Moreover it can also be a buy back. If I sell my property, at times of economic meltdown, nothing stops me from buying it back when I have more pressing need of it or when i'm in a better financial position and the stuff is put out for sale by the new owner. An intelligent person stretches the limits of possibilities in an issue before running to conclusions and making silly remarks. From your responses so far, you are obviously a very emotional and unintelligent person. What if LASG govt now releases verifiable information which counters your position? Won't u and ur cohorts turn out to be silly? |
Geniro: you sound pained |
himkers:Why not counter it valid points? |
The helicopters looks different. But is it not possible that LAG govt swapped the registration of the old helicopters for the new ones. Just like what we now have for cars, where u can trade your old car but register your new car on the number of that old car. You guys are just making unnecessary noise. Having same registration number of the old aircrafts on the new ones is not enough evidence of fraud. Infact, that fraudster must be very very dull, to even imagine retaining the old registration on the new aircrafts. |
PhonePlanet:Oh, really. Didnt know that was how that one works. The way I use it is just to hit the Print Scrn key, I then paste in MS Word to use directly or in MS Office Picture manager if I need the actual file. *** I just tried the Start + PrintScn but couldnt find the picture file anywhere on pictures folder. I searched other places on the system as well, no avail. |
PhonePlanet:That is surprising. I have never used the start button with the PrintScreen button and I have successfully used it alone on countless systems. Both desktop and notebooks. ...and u tried to paste it in MS word document after capturing and still didn't paste? |
PhonePlanet:if you just hit the Printsc key alone, it takes a screenshot. Why do one need to add the start button again? it is no longer short cut then. |
dokunbam:its not so different from just using ordinary PrtSc key. |
A no nonsense trim man. God will give you the wisdom, temerity and legal support to jail a lot of them looters. We are seriously in need of convictions. Pls pls pls. Give us some pretty convictions. Like Dansuki bagging 21 yrs. |
shollynoob: nice one. I first fear, as if the world turned upside down ![]() |
crazysaint:Pls free the man. This president of Benin has shown so much love for Nigeria. He is our neighbor why cant we reciprocate his hand of friendship. He recently sent about 900 of his soldiers, to come and help us fight Boko haram. Soldiers of Benin to come and die at the battle front for a war that does not concern them. |
kel4soft:Pls update ur postwith with a valid source so it will hit front page. http://www.punchng.com/acourt-sacks-sekibo-from-senate-two-rivers-pdp-reps/ |
Rikidony:When Tribunal sacks APC senator in Kogi and Benue. The judiciary was not manipulated then abi?? When Tribunal upheld Buruji Kashamu's election, Judiciary was not manipulated. When Tribunal nullified APC house of Rep member from Kogi's victory and further banned him from contesting again, PMB did not manipulate the judiciary then. How come it's only when judgements does not favour PDP that u mofos roll out lamentations? |
Interesting. I hope the wailers won't blame PMB for this one again. |
opalu:Loan to be repaid from where?? Let her continue running her mouth. She'll soon shoot herself in the foot. When these revelations eventually lead to the arrest of Okonjo Iweala I just seriously hope our Brothers from the East will take it in good fate and not shout hate and mess up the entire investigation, prosecution and recovery of funds. We can see now that Dansuki has been facing his own, in conjuction with Bafarawa and the Northerners are not giving it an ethnic colouration. In fact they are very happy sef, if PMB can make them scapegoats. We also see how the kinsmen of Dokpesi have been quiet and silently studying his level of culpability before running their mouth in defence of the thief that cannot even pay his workers regularly. Pls and pls, when additional revelations eventually lead to the arrest of Okonjo Iweala, do not bring any mundane sentiments into the issue. Do not bring any boring story about 'hate' into the picture. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. All the people involved in this fraud will have their day in court. All the people spending money anyhow without the appropriation of the National Assembly. It is very obvious now, that the economic challenges we are experiencing now, emanated from the bad leadership of Jonathan and Okonjo Iweala. These two are a big disappointment. Oshiomole is right afterall. Despite all the abuses we heaped on him for having the courage to speak out. GEJ is no hero, he messed this country up and every deep thinking Nigerian will be happy he was kicked out during the last election. If not, he would have totally crippled this country. |
Imagine! And some mofos are still calling Jonathan a Hero. |
JingoOAU: |
tuborme:Oga keep quiet. GEJ is no hero. He was just a figure-head that was used by some people to steal from the nation in a preposterous way. |
Dhugal:So APC had lost 2 senate seats earlier sef, and you guys will still be wailing that the judiciary is being manipulated when Tribunal results does not favour you guys. |
Dhugal:I doubt that. The party was not barred from the election. |

None of them will spend a single day in jail and they shouldn't have been given the option of a fine. nansense
