For a city on the brink of the Atlantic, Lagos is too congested and disorganized. Occurrences like these will definitely take place again and again until lagos is decongested and organised.
But that's almost impossible. Lagos is like the right city in the wrong place.
So New York City, Durban, Accra, etc, should also be flooded.

Can the lawyers in the house please spell out the functions of the president of a country? And what the constitutions says if such is fell short of.

If the activities of these "freedom fighters" or what they call them selves is tantamount to treason, and nothing is being done about it; what then happens to such people mandated to uphold the constitution and protection of such country?

Immediate impeachment I concur to at this juncture before it's too late! It's very obvious from all ramification, we elected a man who's afraid to go for what he believes in (no sentiment, even though I cast my last vote for him), because he's avoiding certain toes,

These men are fast gaining popularity and followers, which with time, even the NATO forces will find it difficult to crush.

This is a pure sign of failure which is unacceptable and unprecedented of a president!! I think it's high time the wind of pure change blow across Nigeria (After all, Libya, Egypt a few counties has done it); since our leaders only care for their pockets and the financial security of their unborn generations to the detriment of the poor masses which contributes 70 percent of the population.

You have just told us your agenda for all the bombings. Make the president look incompetent then impeach him.

Now my question is if late Yaradua can do it, can't GEJ also do it? During OBJ regime no such news, though MEND are for different mission. Really GEJ has nothing to offer to Nigeria simple, i never dream for the Man to become the president of Nigeria, because i have never seen any impact from him since he became acting president to president. BOKO HARAM please allow your fellow citizen to leave, for we all are one irrespective of religion, tribe, education etc. Our struggling for this earth ends up in a six feet, which no man know were he / she is going. Please lets reason and move forward than backward. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE.

U are fond of comments like this. No one is supporting babes to go after money. Why can't guys to go after abnormal or unusual babes.  Are u saying they were not made by God. If you are going to criticize women then we might as well trash out men too.

The money thingy, is not your same sex that started it? They used money to take their friends wife, they used money to date teenage girls young enough to be their grand daughters. Women only went looking for jobs and funds for their sick mom or dad. Men decided to exploit their vulnerability and started the exchange for exchange thingy. All those aristos, yahoo yahoo, 19 19, Transfer, armed robbers; politicians etc. are all to blame. Kill these oppressing classes or bourgeois or ruling class of men then no one would be available to issue money to women or expose them to luxury again.

How about the Nigerian soldiers that impregnated 250,000 Liberian women and left them to their fate. How do you expect these kind of women to feed and cater for their kids. How about Governor Yerima who wanted to acquire a 13 years old as a wife by paying the girls dad off.   The genesis of this problem is men. It’s their money isn’t it? Which gender is devious enough to start such…obviously men? Now u are complaining about what your same sex started.

Instead of you men to advice yourselves and make this world a better place. You would be saying rubbish about women and money. If men decide that NO MORE MONEY FOR BABES AGAIN then there won't be money because it’s a man's world and a woman can not live in isolation. So a collective effort on the men’s part can stop money from circulating to women illegally. YOU can orchestrate that movement rather than cry wolf because of the pain women have caused men in the past. Everyone has had their own fair share of pain but it’s meant to make u wiser not a sulker. Snap out of it!

This is a theoretical  analysis of the situation:

Most of the soldiers are from northern extraction, and will not kill their own people, they are only ready to deal with other tribes.
There are political heavy weights in the north, damn too heavy that they are untouchable by anybody, they dictate the direction of Aso rock!

Lets pretend it didnt happen, Thats what you get for putting a mumu as president, enjoy your fresh air
The president was taking his time to look for a viable solution you people called him weakling, now the army is taking action he's a mumu president.

People who have lived outside Nigeria almost all their lives don't really know what those of us (not in the privileged 10K People class) in Nigeria pass through daily.

If there is a problem in any place send mopol or military it's the same line of action. Kill one of theirs that village, town will be levelled.

Problem is you report to the police no action will be taken. in advance countries you can report a suspicious character/activity within you vicinity and see the police swing into action immediately. There was a time that police was threatening to arrest people for refusing to report being robbed. Well, you know what the people learned their lesson the hard way. Area boys robbed them, when they recognize any of them, they report to the police. The police will arrest the robbers, collect good amount of cash from them and tell them "my man you need to be careful of mr A at No 7 AZ road because he had the mind to report you." Guess what, the area boy will return and create hell for Mr A & family, it won't end there the police will tell Mr A to come and close (this involves some amount) the case file, because they found out that what he did was false allegation. Not one case but several instances, so any body that was robbed just licked his wounds and counted his losses. Life continues. But the police weren't finding it funny, why? dwindling income due to fewer robbery cases being reported. So they had to invest in public announcements cajoling people to report, when people didn't respond they resorted to threats. Announcements like this weren't uncommon "It has come to the notice of the police that people are refusing to report criminals and robberies to the police, this has made it difficult for the police to work effectively in curbing crimes. you should know that this is aiding and abetting and such people will be arrested if found."
Even children where well instructed by their parents that if anybody ask them whether armed robbers came to their house, they should reply no. So people kept quiet and if you ask anybody I heard noise around you end at night, what happened? He will swear to you that he didn't hear anything through the night. Meanwhile the occupants of the whole building or block of flats had been robbed.

so go figure. May be you want the president to go and start doing the work of people employed to police.

Getting people to steer clear off the railways and motorways is not a complex problem my brother. The only problem we have is the lack of political will. The people in charge don't know how. If they don't know, let them consult people who do.

Why do people always return? It's because they can. What do you do? Make the terrain unfriendly. Lay spikes, concrete stones on the surface. For instance, along Osodi - Bolade area, construct a concrete slab which begins 2 feet from the road kerb and spans the entire space up to the railway barrier. However with a sitting surface at 75 degrees across the entire space the people always return to. If you attempt to climb on it, you will slip and fall. If buyers cannot come to you, you won't sell there. Simple.

                                       ___12-foot Concrete Barrier
                                      /     l
                                     /      l
                                    /       l
                                   /        l
         Road                  /          l           Railway
------------------------/          l    _______________

The above figure resembles what I am thinking. How can people sell on this? You don't even need police presence to deter people. The terrain is unfriendly and it polices itself. And this is just off the top of my head. Without sitting to think about the problem. And I am not even a construction engineer. You have millions of people in the country who can think about even better ideas and you tell me the problems have been there since 1960 so they can't solve them . . . Bullsh.i.t.

If there is a will to work, it won't take more than two months to erect this along that road and drive people away. What complex solution. Do away with mediocrity man.
Thank you, this is what i meant by constructive criticism. In the advanced countries things like these are what people do and also the press will continue to highlight these problems until the government is forced to take action.

Not when one politician pays the press and they start to talk rubbish about the leadership put them there they will equally fail.

How many people have resigned their appointments in protest because of their disagreement with a government anti-people policy?

They all keep quiet and enjoy but once they are kicked out they automatically regain their voices and the mass are gullible to accept their utterances.

Their excuse is nobody can change Nigeria blah, blah. A woman Dora did it with NAFDAC fighting against fake drugs even though she later joined the camp.

----------------------------------

This is bad rep for Lagos, though the problem is caused by gripping poverty in the Hinterlands. At least from the video the guys acknowledged that they are better-off here than where they came from, they could eke out a living here, whereas in their hometown there was virtually little they could do

As per the people selling on the railway and expressway, when accidents happen and a mad trailer driver crushes people to death there, it is the government that gets the blame for allowing them. And when you arrange for some to leave maybe provide a place for them to sell, others promptly take over the space. Most times the government gives warning, but the warnings are not heeded.

Immediately the KAI officials leave, you see people setting up their kiosks again. There are several places where the government erected barricades (e.g oshodi) and barb wires to prevent people from crossing the highway, but people pull down these barriers and risk their lives.

Its a complex situation and the solution is not just straight-forward, it would take time, people would have to be educated and be re-oriented, the economy needs to grow, light has to be stable, and we wont solve all the same year.
For me since the mid-sixties, we have hardly had a government and now we are just learning how to vote, who to vote for, how to make a constitution, how to prosecute people etc. The finished product is still some decades away and in fact the product is never finished, there should always be a 'new improved ariel' in the way we do things, at least some state governments have started doing some things, eventually maybe later mediocres would even be scared to present themselves or forced to perform.
Thank you my brother

Hehehehe. You are saying a lot yet saying nothing. No one is playing with anyone's intelligence dude. If you think my insinuations are rubbish then it's only a valid explanation as to why Nigeria has a long way to go. Bros, I used to walk past Oshodi every single day for a long time in my life so cannot lecture on what is not.

The only rubbish you see in my post is because I dare to say the problem is the President's. You are obviously a GEJ supporter. If you think I bending the truth, tell me what the truth is.

I honestly do care how long this decadence has lived, if you have someone in power who is willing to wipe it all out in a month, it will happen. See what Fashola did at Oshodi. Naysayers like you will say it's not Fashola's duty because it's been like that since 1960. It's Fashola's bleeping job because he is the Governor now and guess what, he did it.

You obviously do not have any ideas of how this should work and you dare tell me I am talking rubbish. Please highlight where I am wrong.

- Is it that it is not the President's job to appoint Federal Minister of Transport?
- Is it that it is not the Minister to  establish a frame work under which all modes of Transportation operate?
- Is is that it is not the Minister's job to ensure Safety along all Federal roads, rail and transport facilities?
- And by safety, is it that it is not the Ministry's job to barricade the Railways to prevent access to the train-lines?
- Is is that if people disregard the law, they should not be punished?
- And lastly is it that if the Minister cannot get this right, then the President has to appoint someone who can?

Why don't you answer all these questions and if you think I am wrong, point us to the solution wherever applicable. Replying with a load gibberish does not make your point any clearer.
Your points are very clear wink wink wink never mind me with my unclear points

There is a difference between criticizing somebody to take action and just plan saying he is stuopid.

What you people have been hammering is that things are not being done because the president is stuopid.  Anything that happens now is GEJ.

It all begins with the head. If the head is rotten, the people will in time inherit the rot. It is the job of the President to appoint the Minister of Transport whose job it is to work with professionals and build a framework under which all forms of transportation operate. Policies and procedures which govern the whole structure of transportation in the whole country is written down in a book. Buried in this book of guidelines will be one very important chapter. . . . .  SAFETY. Under this chapter, the book will state how safety in transportation can be attained. It will state somewhere in there that no one can come within 50ft of the train-line.

Because this minister already knows that there is no need just talking the talk and not walking the walk - people will go 2 ft to the railway and try to touch the speeding trains - the minister will instruct that a physical barrier is installed at 50ft to the railway and all the way. And because he knows people will still try to get through the barriers or scale the barriers, he will work in conjunction with a task force, to enforce this law.

However, because the Minister of Transport cannot think of things like this by himself, you cannot expect anything different. Everything will remain the same. Which brings us back to the very beginning of this post. Who appoints the Minister? If the person that appoints the minister does no know what needs to be implemented, how can he appoint the right Minister? Which is why whoever appoints the Minister takes the balme for a non-functioning system. Simple.

Now the question is - Who appoints the Minister?
All your insinuations is rubbis.h when did this start, with the present administration?

Stop dancing around issues. Nobody likes what is happening, but when people bend the truth just because they are against somebody then there is problem. Selling along rail tracks did not start in 2009.

I wont be surprised if you have never lived in Nigeria, or even if you have lived or lives in Nigeria, you have never seen a market along rail lines because you have been privileged to do you shopping in supermarkets, or no rails pass through where you are staying.

What I'm saying is if you want to discredit somebody do it wisely, not to play with peoples intelligence.

That is the kind of Rehabilitation PDP is doing on our railways. I tell you, Federal Government is led by a clueless dumbo.
People should not sound stewpid, just because they want the PDP out of government. It is common knowledge from PH(Mile-One Market) - Aba - Enugu when the railways was operating that people sold goods even displaying same right on the rail tracks. Even in Lagos Oshodi, etc, these sites where common.

So many have lost their lives through these unsafe acts.

When you want to criticize somebody always follow the truth otherwise, when you say the truth people wont believe you.

This is one of the reasons it's almost impossible to change the mindset of Nigerians. After you tell them lies, eat with the government. when you are out that is when you start seeing the evils and ills, which you didn't see all the time you where there.
