The law stand with the current Kwara State govt in this regard. Cases like this have been won against Lagos State govt when land that was originally acquired for public purposes was later allocated to private entity. A land can't be acquired for public purpose and then later turned over to private entities. In fact the previous owner of the land whom the govt acquired the land from can bring a case against the govt to request for the land since it's not used for the public purpose it was acquired by govt for. An example of such case is attached. (You may need to zoom in to read the text).

Kingsean:You are so right. This student is a typical religious zealot who is showing intolerance from a young age. Will God see him as a sinner for attending a church. Likewise, if the school is not allowing student to practice other religious faith then that's also not acceptable. The purpose of a university is for creating and spreading knowledge, religious knowledge inclusive. What pain the heart sometime is both African muslim and Christians have no clue what they are doing. Please before you "kill" yourself because of one religion, go pick a history book to know the origin of each religion. God is not religious. At the end of the day most of humanity will found out that virtually all the things and belief they hold onto are all a ruse. |
You always know zealots when you run into them. In their eyes they are doing good deeds trying to please God and their dead ancestors. But God see right into their hearts and can't be fooled. The same people that keep their less fortunate masses in lifetime of penury. Some even claim to want to fight in the name of God for the same God. I asked myself, is it the same God that created billions upon billions of galaxies with uncountable stars. A single natural event alone can wipe millions upon millions of humanity in a space of seconds, and yet you feel the need to want to fight for the same Being who is the author and finisher of man's fate on this fragile earth. Many of these zealots need to be kept in psychiatric centers. |
monfizzy:Stop that trash talk. Usual.sense of self-hate. I bet the western media do more of what you claim when their authorities or citizens do some good deeds for 3rd world countries. Their are millions of Nigerians that do uncountable good deeds that no one hear about. If you want me to relate my own personal experience I will do so here. You don't know me personally so I can't feel I am blowing my horn for the need of self gratification. As a Yoruba who lived/studied in Canada and worked in one of their institutions, I connected and partly funded (a non-yoruba) researcher from Nigeria. Today, the man is a professor and now collaborate with teams in Canada. I can go on and on. So stop demonizing your kind. In fact it is the western culture that have a system for self-gratification in place. Rather, on our side some stupid individuals do this but not in the way it is done in the west. You know nothing about what you are driving at. |
I can say Canada is probably one of the very few western countries I can say nice things about. I have lived there before and in couple of other countries and I can compare, most especially with their "demon" neighbour to the south and their "evil" aunty across the atlantic ocean to the east. Canada provided an haven of safety for some of the enslaved offsprings of our forebearers that were sold into slavery. And these days some of us choose Canada as a place to further our education or settledown to escape the "demon" politicians at home. Of course like every western countries, one still can't escape racism as a black African. But if I have to rate Canada and the US, Canada I will score 3 on a scale of 10 while I rate US 9 on same scale. While we note all these good things about another country, it is because most of the individuals from that country choose to be Citizens and not Idiotic Barbarians or Tribalists. Nigeria is where it is today because most of us choose to be Idiotic Barbarians and Tribalists rather being a citizen. As you enjoy the comfort offered by Canada, at the back of your mind remember you also have a country. If we all cut and run, in another few decades the Chinese and other foreigners would be happy to have the nation we refused to elevate or build with our soul and sweat. |
@ajilekoThis is a old post but it is important to state that the number of pieces of block stated is wrong. One plot of land require 2160 blocks (https://www.propertypro.ng/blog/cost-of-fencing-a-plot-in-nigeria/). However 2 plots is either 120ft by 120ft or 240ft by 60ft. If its 120ft by 120ft, using all four side it gives total length of fence of 480ft. When you convert this to inches (480 x 12), it is 5760 inches. Using the dimension of a standard block of 18" by 9". So a single line or coach of block that will go round the entire fence is 5670"/18" = 320 blocks. For the first 4 coaches or rows of 9x9" (high) blocks stated, the total number of blocks for those 4 coaches will be 1,280 blocks (i.e. 4 x 320). The height of the 4 coach will be 36" or 3ft. That mean you need additional 4ft of fence to make it to the needed 7ft. For the 6x6" block which is to be used for remaining 4ft or 48" of the fence, divide 48" by 6" = 8. That mean you need 8 coaches of the 6x6"blocks for this section of the fence. This translate to a total of 2,560 of the 6x6 blocks. So you only need: -1,280 pieces of 9x9" blocks (for the base of 4 coaches) -2,560 piece of 6x6" blocks (for the remaining section of the fence above the 4 coaches base) The higher the number of plots of land to fence the lower the unit cost per plot. Even with the dimension of the See this link for estimation for a plot of land: https://www.nairaland.com/2095730/calculating-numbers-blocks-need-fence |
seunmsg:Ghana as a the leading pan-African nation will surely not align with France. It will severely dent their pan-African image. Ghana's letter on this issue is mere politics. A lot African-Americans are moving to Ghana simply because Ghana is the foremost pan-African nation. For example, total annual spending of African-Americans in the US is $1.2 trillion. Imagine the continuing trend if African-Americans moving to Ghana stops, so does the flow of dollars. France can't be of any good to any African country on the long term. France is a evil country. Ordinary fought and won a war against France but the evil that France perpetrated in Haiti left that country in penury. If not, Haiti should be doing very well now. These francophone African countries should use Haiti as an example of the evil of France and that nothing good can come out of their fraternizing with France. |
mrksquare:Madness! Like those citizens don't need a working country of their own. Only God knows the number of African youths that have died trying cross the Mediterranean. I guess you are hoping to migrate. You prefer that than have a country that work for you. Slavery of the 21st century. |
RisenPhoenix:Really? Didn't know Britain prints our dear Naira with 50% of our reserve in britain. Can you tell me the name of the Briton that seat on the board of Nigeria monetary agency or CBN. |
Can you all believe that until recently France was paying 60 cents per 1kg of Niger uranium used to power their nuclear power plants instead of the market rate of $200. France source 75% of its energy needs from nuclear sources. Macron came to Africa earlier in the year campaigning against Africa population growth. They want to ensure continuous supply of raw materials from Africa to help power their own economy. High population in Africa means high pressure on local demand on resources and less for France. When you see almost all France soccer players are black with most with background from Francophone African countries, do you think France is stupid. It's all PR gimmick to please the largely "dunce" local population of these francophone countries. |
obama30:Sorry, I am going to be hard on you. You need a lesson in critical thinking and logic. |
EzeIgbo1:Good luck, man. Its youth like you that we want to read about. |
Except the poster is stupid not to know that there is a "battle" going on between Nigeria and France for control of Ecowas. What else do you expect now. To state that we support it even when it's obvious that France is trying to isolate Nigeria in Ecowas with its overbearing influence on stooges like Ouattara. |
payne4real:I need 14" x 26" and 18"x 30" POLYPROPYLENE sacks. I will decide on which dimension based on pricing you give. I do not need any printing or branding on the sacks. They are needed in very high quantity. Give me pricing for 1000 bale and I will get back to you for quote for the exact amounts I need. |
NwaAmaikpe:Your analogy is all wrong. While I am not an ardent fan of Akon I am aware that the "Afrobeat" genre he helped support is booming in America and even Europe. I have heard American youths listening to Davido or Wizkid music on the streets. Akon understand America. Unlike a typical African-America he is connected to Africa and this adds to opportunities on his table. He said America was not created for black people. I felt he has more he want to do beyond music which he can never achieve in the USA. There is a story of a black man that invented a machine that create water from air (yes, air). He transported the machine to a neighbourhood that had water supply issue. Someone that was not happy with the man and his machine vandalized it overnight. In Anerica, for you to succeed and do really big thing you need a white person or a jew pulling the strings from behind. This apply to almost all the wealthy black Americans. If you dont want to play that game, then you need a different territory to conquer on your own. I'll rather have Akon running a company that install solar powered electricity across Africa than have a Chinese, Indian or a Caucasian do the same thing. |
One individual could do this and Nigerian senate want to use N37 billion ($105 million) to renovate a single senate complex. That's an automatic curse on these senators. |
iamclime:Actually, any individual or entity can employ anybody even as an NGO. It depends on regulations set by the government. They may be taking advantage of loopholes in regulation. The moment you offer a service or products for money (e.g. education) you have to pay tax. So, if govt is not collecting tax from Covenant university, then there is something wrong because students pay to attend the institution. And the moment a church pastor start telling you that the amount of prayer you will receive depend on how much you donate, then that seem to be a service with revenue that need to be taxed. We Nigerians like lieing to ourselves. |
Collect from Peter to pay Paul. Aside from those working in your schools or university, none is adding value to the lives of Nigerians. |
amc:When you throw numbers around without presenting the details people get confused. Often when one talk of Nigeria debt stock they often think of only total external debt, not both external and domestic. It's good you showed the table that states each debt category. The question is what was Nigeria debt profile before Jonathan became president (April 2011). One can the compare to the debt stock at June 2015 and the current number. I actually have thr numbers but will have look for the Excel file. I use to download the data from website of the debt mgt office. I will look for it and the chart, and will post here. |
Back to square one. Obasanjo help pay back Nigeria debt in 2004 by getting 60% discount to pay $12 Billion instead if $30 billion which was actual amount. Fifteen years later debt now stand at $28 billion. Asked yourself what did they use the money for. The debt also include amount Jonathan govt collected even though he had massive oil price windfall. I am familiar with this numbers because I use to track the data and also remember I posted a chart on this on Nairaland during Jonathan years. Obviously Buhari govt collected much more. |
Why is the local, state and federal governments not doing massive public campaign against ritual killings in order to discourage culprits? Is it because some of our politicians are also into ritual killings? |
CaptainMeks:US news media like CNN will hide the news from international viewers. There have been over 400 hundred mass shootings incidents in this year 2019 alone. Read it here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/mass-shootings-2019-more-mass-shootings-than-days-so-far-this-year/ Other news site will try to use numbers to fool you and claim less number of killings like this one here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/12/28/us-mass-shootings-killings-2019-41-record-high/2748794001/ The number in the first link claimed 401 mass shooting incidents between January 1 and Dec. 25. Which is now 402 incidents by including this new Texas incident. I believe this number because its obtained from an NGO called Gun Violence Archive that track the data. The story in the second link give 41 mass shooting incidents in 2019 and the data is provided by Associated Press, USA Today and a university. I know news media and university professors lie sometimes about their research data. I dont trust this number. The truth is most of the killings does not even make it into the local news not to talk of international news. I live here and know what's going on. One day, my daughter told me about a rumour that someone was planning an attack on the Walmart close to our neighbourhood (somewhere in Texas). Just imagine the number of people with guns in a church. |
Alvin212:And you are not already in hell already? |
You want oyinbo-man to admit there is something wrong with a part of his tourist business. That mean you want to scare their customers away. There is no way they will do that. At least not now. Maybe until when the victim has enough evidence and after the war of words and press statements have died down. Imagine you merely went on holiday with your family and you got this. I remember a tragedy at Disney world in Florida that occurred in one of their ponds. An alligator came out of the water to grab a child to her death. |
The Chinese invasion is real. Don't be surprised this chinese guy is a common criminal sent down by China to come work for money in Africa. Most of the chinese workers brought to Africa are prisoners in China. |
dairykidd:I saw that on a visit few months ago. I was like "what da hell is this?". Who even thought of that. Ideally if the road and the area is orderly and not chaotic, it will fit in. But it just look out of place. Corruption surely kills the mind. If they tell you how much it cost to put that "fish" there, you will scream. |
This is all window dressing. You use numbers to determine what type of highways to build. Millions live in that area. The current lanes on that highway should be feeder lanes with a separate 4x4 lanes bridge that run its entire length. |
Kokoebapluse:Don't pastors or cleric participate in ritual killings these days? You have to know that for every religion there are bad eggs. Ritual killing is done by evil priest (pastors and clerics) as well. You are saying all these because you do not have understanding of what you are demonizing. In fact not all of the traditional religion require idols. And if you understand symbolism, you will know why these people adopt idols. An Ifa priest call on Eledumare (the all overbearing God) every morning. Is that not the same Allah you are talking about. Or is there another God elsewhere? For all His creations, God know the nature of each and for each he gave knowledge to live and prosper on earth based on their nature. God know the black man as a difficult and stubborn people, so he gave us these traditional knowledge. Read this story, it tell you of the nature of a black man and what is needed to bring order in a black man society. Remember, are we not the first human on earth? So, how could races that just evolve come and teach us how to worship God. You folks are not reasoning logically at all. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/12/24/thieves-return-looted-goods-to-benin-market-after-curse/amp/ And you know what? Most of your pastors and muslim clerics visit traditional shrines under the cover of darkness. They are mostly fooling their followers. And both christianity and islam are used to kill people in the name of God. Have you ever seen a traditionalist going on a killing spree because he wants you to convert to his religion or because he hate you and regard you as a sinner. |
Kokoebapluse:Go back to your own religion. People going back to their ancestral spiritual root is the only way to have order in our society. No christian or Muslim take the bible and quoran serious. They all steal, lie, fornicate and do all sorts of evil. But our own ancestral spiritual way of life instil order among us. It's because the Europeans and Arabs know the power of our own spiritual way of life that they use religion to confuse and disarm our minds. Both Christians and Muslims are as well idolaters. The Christian's pray before a "white" jesus and statue of Mary or some holy fathers/mothers. The Muslim circle a black building in Kaaba that has a black stone in it. Are these not the very things you all criticized about African traditional religion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Stone |
You all want to kill yourself over some "foreign" religions. You all should go read some history of ancient Egypt and understand that all these religions were adopted from there. In fact, the first Christian's were ancient Ethiopians and the Roman's adopted the Christian records from there with some re-branding using ancient Egypt stories. |
Blindersoff:Now I see where your error came from. You should have shown how you estimated this. For comparison, a USA home consume 10,972 KW/hr while a Nigerian home consume only 70 KW/hr. That one USA home use 156.74 fold of energy that one Nigerian home use. The 1MW would power 330 USA homes for one hour. So, 40MW would power 40MW x 330 homes = 13,200 USA homes for 1 hr. Since a Nigerian home use 156.74 fold less energy than a typical USA home, then: 13200 ÷ 156.74 = 2,056,005 Meaning that 40MW would power 2,056,005 Nigerian homes for just 1 hr. I criticized your number earlier but rechecked. I obtained number for USA home energy use online and from this site. https://www.cleanenergyauthority.com/solar-energy-resources/what-is-a-megawatt-and-a-megawatt-hour |
Blindersoff:Stop misleading people. That's very incorrect. 40 MW is equivalent to energy produced by 400 car engines. Using USA average home consumption which is much higher than Nigeria, 40MW will only power 13200 homes for just 1 hour. You can go online to find average energy consumption by a Nigerian home to estimate how many homes this would power in Nigeria for 1 hour or a day. "A megawatt is a unit for measuring power that is equivalent to one million watts. One megawatt is equivalent to the energy produced by 10 automobile engines. A megawatt hour (Mwh) is equal to 1,000 Kilowatt hours (Kwh). It is equal to 1,000 kilowatts of electricity used continuously for one hour. It is about equivalent to the amount of electricity used by about 330 homes (USA) during one hour." https://www.cleanenergyauthority.com/solar-energy-resources/what-is-a-megawatt-and-a-megawatt-hour |
