AtikuMeansJobs: Nigeria is not rich. What Nigeria really needs now is to expand its economic base, we need to have more than 10 solid sectors firing all cylinders, i mean sectors that can employ a lot of people, instead of oil being d mainstay of our economy, build infrastructures from revenues from oil while building other sectors, invest in technical education, cut senators wage.... and we'll be alright.
Will this ever be possible with our gluttonous executives and most especially lawmakers who want to do ordinary renovation of senate building for N37 billion ($105 million). Now that amount almost match what could be used to build a rail line few decades ago.
oluwasegun007: Can you please remove No2 from the list...
Its precious waste of time and resources.
No1 though is perfect for couple whle No3 is perfect for family.
You are right about this. I visited Lekki Conservation for the first time few months ago and it was generally disappointing aside from walking trails with couple of monkeys showing up and the canopy walk which cost extra. There were plastic bottles thrown around here and there.
madridsta007: France is part of the foriegn interest fueling and sustaining Boko Haram in Nigeria's Northern region. They have pursued an agressive anti-Nigeria colonialist stand since Nigeria was invited and succeded in dislodging terrorists from West African Mali under the previous government. It was rumoured that it shocked France to the marrows as they were expecting Mali to ask France to provide military support.
Unfortunately, Nigeria is saddled with a regime that does not understand geopolitics and is more focused on dividing its citizens across tribes. Else, dealing with France's influence in West Africa is easy as Nigeria. Just correctly demonise the French as white colonialists and remind West Africans of what they did to Sankara, etc. Win the battle of the heart and mind and others will follow.
Great point. We are often led by morons. A propaganda war across west africa by Nigeria is enough to make France pack their bags and leave for Paris. But I also sense that these Francophone countries leaders would willingly sell themselves to France rather than remain under the economic domination of another African country, Nigeria. The black man is weak minded. I suppose if the leaders in these Francophone countries are women, the story will be different.
gregyboy: You're the one mentally slaved because you're not talking about the slavering our black leaders are putting their own black people
I will rather deal with that. So you love being enslaved by a white man than one of your kind. It's your types that would choose to buy from a white-owned business even if there are better products offered by an African. Colonized mind. Your masters are waiting for you in Paris and London.
engrchykae: is our Nigeria not a pariah state of the UK and USA? The Asante man have always stood up to the British. That is why they all dread biafra. All Nigeria leaders have been serving British and American economic interests since 1914. Especially the northern hausas fulani low budget colonialists from futa jallon
C"mon! Which Biafra? Who did France support during the Biafra war? Was it not Biafra. There were french mercenaries on ground to train Biafra soldiers. And you think they did that for free. You all lack power of foresight. Well, get your Biafra and be the 15th French colony in west Africa.
Abass1Toheeb: what if France is d main cause of this havoc?? just think this way, where do d terrorists get their ammunitions, funding and feeding from? from d loots?? I dnt think so, cos it's not enough. the terrorist attacks are time specific and the places they pressurize seems political. if according 2 d believe that they have a motive to die 4 God, then they should b heading 4 China nw. bt No, Mayb it's nt yet time to crush China's economy by d masters behind the screen.
France is actually funding Boko Haram as a way to breakup Nigeria. And the "foreign" Fulani herdmen that enter through our borders with sophisticated weapons to kill farmers in the middlebelt and south, ask yourself who is arming them. France is behind all these. France need Africa to survive and would go to any length to retain control and breakup opposition from Nigeria.
gregyboy: Is that enslaving.....they are even helping this french speaking countries stand since dey can stand on thier own so i dont see any enslaving there.....
The ones our leaders are doing is what.... Would call it freedom
Another slave mentality. Be a man! You are created with all you need to stand on your own. Why not do that?
tstx: Do not blame Alassane Ouattara.. A slave has no option but to dance whenever his master plays the piper. If you were their president you would have done the same thing..
If he hadn't agreed the French would've looked for a way to kill him him and install a new stooge... That's how it has always been.
So long as money and power remains a thing, the entire black race will forever be slaves.
France assassinating an African president now does not look likely because France is currently unpopular among most citizens of these countries. Imagine an uprising among the citizen against France or its stooges in these countries. Do you think France will put soldiers on the ground to fight that. For me, these francophone countries would rather remain as slaves rather than do things on their own. They do not have the confidence and willpower to face the challenges. It's a shame.
One of the reasons why I do not support the breakup of Nigeria for now is because the outcome economically and politically for each new country does not look good. France will easily pounce on them because these new countries will not have the economic might to stand up to France just as Nigeria is currently doing. They will be railroaded into joining Francophone countries. The subtle war against black Africa is real. We are not free yet. That's why Nigeria need unity now. But these crazy and suicidal politicians are making that difficult.
fairfora: Our main problem is perpetual stooge we have subjected ourselves to in the hands of the so-called Great Britain, the world's renown parasite. Since the beginning of the insurgency, France has played major roles in curbing their activities with less efforts from the british people. Some of their doctors ( Doctore without Borders) were abducted and even killed by boko haram. The last time I checked, their court slammed a huge sum which could deplete our foreign reserves overnight as penalty or damages in the case of P and ID. France would never have allowed this injustice to be done to any of their colonies
I think our leaders, both past and present are selfish. Immediately after independence, we have failed to adopt french as a second official language, sticking only to english. In Europe, hardly would you find a country who doesn't speak English, including france though they have always preferred speaking their language. I was in Germany some years back and there I met a guy at the airport. I asked him for a direction to where I was going as a taxi guy but he pretended as if he didn't understand English. Later he came to meet me and began speaking fluently...and that's the way an average german behaves. They may not like speaking english but the majority of them understand and speak well.
Being bi-lingual as a nation brings about even and speedy development. If you speak my languages, I'd deal with you in all eagerness and fairness...its normal but the reverse is the case with British. They are haters and unwilling to help especially in an area where they feel they can't see anything to eat. Our politicians loaded their banks with looted money from and they're busy doing business with it. Whenever our country makes any move to bring the money back home, they come up with stiff conditions which would end our country parting away almost half of the money.
I hope the French language learned in most private schools is sustained. We need to break this jinx of one language which is english. Hardly would you visit a francophone country and see learned people who do not understand English and that's where they have an edge overseas over us...in football clubs, in schools, fashion or show biz and wherever they find themselves...they always thrive and adapt easily. Whereas, their anglophone counterparts would have to enrol in a french school to pick up. Amazingly, french and Spanish are very similar so anybody from a fanconphone country can easily understand Spanish when spoken. It brings about ease of doing business internationally without barriers.
The ECO issue wouldn't have been there in the first place, had our government adopted French a subject from day one in our public schools as a second official language for the sake of economic integration of our region . This is why I've always faulted the amalgamation of 1914, which we are not finding difficult to repeal even years after it's expiry. All the franco phone countries in west Africa put together, ate not up to the Nigerian population but are far better in development than we are as a nation. They are well-organised with less issues of insecurity and corruption. The amalgamation was put there by the British to keep enslaving us. I hope this is repealed someday.
Look at this fellow. What planet are you from? An African clamouring for a second foreign language. Do you people want to remain slaves all your life without a mind and identity of your own. Which french countries are better developed. I rather suffer in freedom that remain a slave. Please we do not want folks like you among us.
For that fact this coup brought in Babangida, the Grand Master of corruption in Nigeria, one shouldn't take any of these statements in the address serious. They were just empty words. It was some greedy Nigerian civilian elites that helped to make the coup a success. Most especially NKO Abiola. Story is that he connived with the Saudi Arabia govt to invite tough-man Idiagbon who was the second-in-command to Buhari, for the hajj in Mecca. The coup wouldn't have succeed if Idiagbon was in town. In fact, the Saudi govt was expecting him to seek refuge in their country. He choose to return home to be arrested on arrival.
Yes, Buhari made few mistakes then but things would have changed for the better because they were attacking the main problems then. That was corruption and indiscipline in every day life. Some merchants who were hoarding their products to sabotage the economy had their wares sold to the public. I was in my early teenage years then and knew what was going on. Many Nigerians then had got used to lawlessness and chaotic ways of doing things. That coup ought not to be celebrated because it was a "frying pan to fire" situation. Babangida, the smiling General finally wrecked the economy. He brought in IMF's Structural Adjustment Program and devalued the Naira. Many criminal bankers made a fortune from this, including a friend that used to work with Oceanic bank. They were diverting forex. How about failed banks with opening of so many crooked banks that made away with people's fund causing near collapse of the banking system in early 90s. I was in university days by this period and lost money to a wonder bank too. A lot of corrupt Nigerians had a field day.
Ask yourself why some of us that had high expectations for the second-coming of Buhari, where the expectations came from. It was purely due to his high-handed fight against corruption during his regime in the 80s. Because if someone had the boldness to attempt to smuggle a corrupt Dikko, a former Nigerian minister, out of Britain in a crate, then that suggest that he would go after corrupt people seriously on his second coming. But the expectations were misplaced because that was a military govt that operates with decrees and this new Buhari is not the same one. He already dined with the devils, Jagaban and Amaechi at al.
truthfulparrot: The DSS and the Cabal underestimate the International goodwill and connection of Sowore. By the time they realised that Sowore is like a choking bone in their throat it was almost too late.
A former minister of communication (one Mr Shittu) referred to Sowore as inconsequential during a joint interview at a radio station before last election. Later, nemesis caught up with Mr Shittu killing his political career and ambition to contest for a governorship position. He had skipped the compulsory NYSC. I wonder what Mr Shittu think of Sowore now.
DigitalLogic: for me, I never visit these public places on special days such as Christmas, easter, black Friday etc. Most Nigerians are odoriferous in crowded places and that alone is enough to cause me a traumatic experience. I rather do my shopping days before the event, visit an open air park or better still stay at home.
Your mouth stinks. And you are one of the odoriferous Nigerians.
Blakewilli: Same Birthday as Jesus. HAPPY BIRTHDAY & A MERRY CHRISTMAS...
This got me laughing. Who fooled you that Jesus Christ was born on December 25th. Better go read some history, most especially about ancient Egypt. Start with this video here. Here is a history written in stone.
Can't forget the day she made that jump. Watched it live on TV. Great achievement, to be sole individual gold medalist in the Olympic for a country of 200 million largely "docile" masses.
They are probably still singing "I believe I can Fly" in their head rather than take the leap of faith as Chioma did that glorious day.
The level of evil in Nigeria is enough to make satan envious. Keeping a man in his 60s in jail without trial with his son until he turned 75yrs. Ah! Kabiyesi Eledumare.
He could have been innocent after all. Any society where the innocent suffer cannot have peace. It's a curse on itself. That's why we need to be screaming against injustice in Nigeria because the outcome of injustice against one or few will still come back to hurt all if we keep quiet.
NLevents: We the Young and Happy nairalanders are having fun.
Waiting for the Old and Jealous ones to start hating. They probably wish they had so much joy when they were our age
Why do you expect people to feel that way. Personally I wish to see young Nigerians have fun with their lives cause living in the West each time I see their young people having fun time of their lives my mind goes back to young people in Nigeria. But as you are all having fun don't you all sit back and be lame ducks in issues in Nigeria that affect your lives. People deserve to be happy no matter where on earth they live but if you stand aside when a privileged few do things that will "snatch" happiness of the larger masses away, and the youngs ones with the energy to do something stand aside and do nothing. Then, they do not deserve the happiness in the first place.
IAmStrange: No matter how many years that falsehood thrives, the truth will always meet up with it one day.
No matter how many years the people of falsehood reign, Imes will eventually meet up with them some day in Shaa Allaah.
Imes, the end of days, the beginning of New ones.. The one who is not a king or ruler but to whom many kings and rulers will "bow"... I'm very fascinated by your personality... telling the world about you alone gives me joy...
Temple1288: Have you heard of using a country as a battlefield or poisoning citizens just to take off a Leader of Third World countries?
If they discuss your matter in DC, you'd know how wicked America is.. I won't say much! Enjoy your Christmas Eve
What they had been doing already since Buhari refused IMF advise to devalue Naira. Where do you think the "Nigeria is the world poverty capital" come from".
dochenaj: Actually the charges against Sowore exceed that of Dasuki by light years.
While your narrative is that Sowore was clamoring for good governance. His accusers has charged him for treason and that is a weightier crime that Fraud any day any time.
Notwithstanding the aforementioned, is it not the same fraud for which Orji Uzor Kalu was convicted for, yet all the while the trial was going on he had opportunity to travel outside the country, contest an election and win just because "he is innocent until proven guilty", that Dasuki is being prosecuted for?
If the court deems you not a flight risk, and not at danger to yourself and others during the course of your trial, they would almost always grant you a bail. And a bail has been granted Dasuki, and he has met the requirements of bail but DSS always find one convoluted reason to keep him in jail, just like they had to rearrest Sowore on fictitious "new charges".
Here is the difference between Dasuki and Kalu.
-Dasuki was a national security adviser, meaning he is a high risk suspect who could be a threat to the government if he choose to be.
-Buhari is probably vengeful because Dasuki led the security forces that arrested him during the 1985 Babangida coup.
For those who think Omoyele Sowore is inconsequential, the outcome of his activities even got Dasuki released. Imagine if Sowore had not embarked on RevolutionNow# campaign, Dasuki will still be in detention. You see why it's not good to be self-centered and do things that will benefit all. Good things will come out of it inspite of the challenges on the way.
Has any incident or event put fire under General Buhari govt seat before now since he took power.
How can an ordinary state governor that will only be on the scene for a temporary period be attacking and destroying an institution that has existed for hundreds of years. Are Kano residents not supposed to protect the emirate's ancient symbol of authority and history.
These wannabe Nigeria ladies who want to be light-skin at all cost with fake straight hair. I imagine what a caucasian woman will think of them. Even our Nigerian forefathers will be confused when they see many present day Nigerian women.
ubee: Do we even have an ounce of hope to ever get out from the mediocrity associated with us as a country? Leaders criminal and phoney, but unfortunately the masses are no different. What type of shameless OP had the effrontery to name Alaba as a Nigerian? Where did they get such information from. The phoney reporter is behaving like our incompitent government that doesn't have the will or capacity to develop human resource back at home but anytime they just hear of someone abroad whose name even remotely sounds Nigerian, they will jump up with tails wagging and claim the person. THEIVES!!!!!
Yes, he is Austrian by birth but one of his parents is Nigerian. Technically he is also Nigerian and would easily get a Nigerian passport if he apply for one. What make you think he does not have a Nigerian passport. At least he came down to attempt to join a Nigerian youth team before but for the corrupt coach. But all the same the title is a bit misleading. Many of the foreign born kids take a lot of pride in their roots. They don't need to display it on their forehead.
This David Alaba guy suddenly changed the name on his Jersey from "Alaba" to "David". I saw this in a very recent Bayern match and was confused I kept hearing David. Or he doesn't have pride in his family name or Nigerian roots anymore? There are a lot of pressure on kids with African roots in the West. Just last week my son was telling me his friends at school make a lot of jokes about Nigeria. He surely doesn't like that and I always need to strengthen his self-confidence in his root. African parents in the West have a lot of work to do.
Aystarz: He and Keshi were the first Nigerian head coaches to be paid over 5million as salary. The Paul Hamilton and Oniigbindes of this world didn't even earn close to that, and here's this entitled mumu who thinks, having played for Nigeria, it's his right to use taxpayers' money to clear his own name!!! Arrant Rubbish!
Olodo, who can't think deeply. The fact that NFF was is former employer and that he was a national coach means a dent on his name is also a dent on the reputation of Nigeria. Except if NFF and other Nigerian authorities feel that Nigeria has no reputation to protect. Ideal NFF should have called Siasia to come and explain himself and his role in the alleged scandal. Its after that internal investigation that NFF may decide to support him to defend himself. You all cant reason objectively anymore. I wonder what his previous earnings have to do with this. Obviously you have issues with the fact that he earned good salary which I know did not come easy because NFF was always owing them (Siasia and Keshi) salaries while foreign coaches are paid easily.
spafu: Please I don't like engaging in a baseless argument. I am telling you that a coach who fixes a match can do so with none of his players involved, and you are telling me about Mourinho. Abeg leave matter for Matthias.
When did you become an expert? Please explain to us how a coach can fix a match without a player or set of players as accomplices.
rusher14: Thanks for thinking about your associate.
But the problem is this:
In Nigeria, corruption is rife and that's no exaggeration.
When a matter bordering on corruption comes up, the actors are often pronounced guilty in the court of public opinion because of its preponderance.
Siasia himself was often accused of selling out super eagles positions when he was manager of the team.
This could be mere rumour or even have some basis behind it. Either way, his tenure was tainted by this belief.
Lastly, he has been found guilty by a FIFA panel of investigation into match fixing.
This is away from dabbling of our local politics.
Even football great Platini has been given the same treatment, so the suggestion of racism is not particularly a good kite to fly.
All in all, 2019 has been a terrible year for Siasia.
He can pick himself up and do other things with his life.
You can help him too but don't expect much from the Nigerian populace or FIFA.
Did you read the entire post before blabbing. I suppose you know him more than Segun Odegbami. Do you even know the person behind that post? He asked few questions, if Siason did what they accused him for, was he given the chance to defend himself. What team or players were involved. Someone sent an email to an old email address which he did not see and gbam that is the end of his career. Did they tried to reach him through the NFF. This is a former national coach, and contacting through all means is essential. If you don't live in a white-man's you would probably can't understand how certain things work and the level of bias against people of color especially Africans. Even FIFA itself is a corrupt organisation. All they are doing now is looking for scapegoats to use to raise their public profile so countries like USA and others will think they are dealing with corruption. And it's easy to imagine who the easy scapegoats will be.
