Tranquillity360: It was yoruba revolution.
But Sowore's brothers betrayed him.
Yoruba hate themselves. What is wrong with you folks that every issue to you all is seen through an ethnic mindset. Every people and culture are not like you. Ask yourself why some cultures have survived under systems of oppression over the centuries and millennia while others fall away into nothingness. You all need to reset your mindset to "factory" default. The world won't stop because of any individual or group of people. |

Stop playing politics with everything. If you keep on fighting Air Peace, Max air and Azman air will fold mark my words.
I am a core Yoruba and not Igbo, but it's unfair keeping quiet watching what HAUSA/FULANI'S are doing to Igbo's and anything that will move this country forward. It was Arik Air now Air Peace. I am Yoruba as well and was seriously rooting for and equally disappointed for this chap. Let us avoid sentiments without facts. It's simple, don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. A businessman moving funds around like this from Nigeria of all places to the West is red alert. Any transaction beyond a specific amount, they will open book for you to continously monitor you. The connection to govt ND agencies is also a red flag. |

so is that not money laundering too ?
me I know mopha is not into Yahoo , I know his company . like if Thomas Cook will collect 15% for a transfer , mopha can transfer with 3% , that's it !!! We know that its typical for criminals to go online to show off. So, why run a BDC when he is not registered for such. He has been aiding and abetting crimes. What does the law say? It's the answer to this that will free or jail him. Not what people say online. |

I read here about mallams on the streets changing funds not registered as BDC. You will be surprised that they are except the criminal ones among them. This is not like back in the days. The mallams you see on the streets are simply agents for the main "boss" with a registered business who simply stay in an air conditioned "office". |

Barrywilly: But why would the EFCC painted this Mompha guy so bad as an Internet fraudster while all he probably did going by the EFCC witnesses was running illegal bureau de change. What of those Mallams changing dollars in sabo? Were they registered with EFCC or cbn. This is a selective prosecution by the EFCC to save face for a wrongful arrest. No single allegation of defrauding anybody. Nobody came out to accuse him of scam. EFCC should also arrest all those Mallams if what Mompha did was wrong Do you know what laundering mean. An individual that launder fund is a criminal as the person who transferred funds into his account. Laundered funds are usually proceeds of crime or one form of corrupt practices. If you are familiar with the case of over 80 Nigerians arrested for online fraud in the USA, most of them helped the primary criminals to move funds around by providing their bank account for such and probably did it on a commission. You Nigerians like setting unacceptable standards. Why would you be defending a criminal. Even if you are mad at EFCC as a biased agency, it's not justified. |

Legendguru: why won't they close down in those lawful countries.the merchants will frustrate them and report them to the government.jumia has put a lot of merchants in nigeria in unrecoverable debts with their unfavorable bad policies and they continue to do this because we are in a lawless country and many nigerian merchants kept enduring because they have no choice.
jumia is the only company I know in the world that doesn't have arbitration department.in a society full of fraud and abuse of policies buyers will order clothes electronics wedding wears iphones and use them for few days then return whenever they want their money back not because such item is bad but because jumia kept encouraging them to return items within 7days no matter what. items will be returned used without contacting sellers and buyers refunded immediately even before the seller receive returned item! thats russian mob style!
nigerians who are ready to abuse such policies are happy shopping on the platform where merchants bares all the loss. they tell you to raise a claim which will never be validated !I have to advice a friend to path ways with them after expressing his ordeal on the platform and his loss! no one is in support of low quality items which can be returned if actually claims were validated by both suplier and jumia team after buyer has submitted evidence! About people returning products they already use after purchasing, it's not just an African thing. It's very common here in the USA. Both products bought online and offline. I remember when we came here, you can return unused products after months or years of buying such. So far you have receipts you will get back your money. But because a lot of people are also returning too many households items they already used, return policy here is usually fourteen days for offline products and maybe 30days for online products. For offline products, you must have your receipts. Most merchants won't refund you without receipts. It's only Walmart that will issue giftcards in place of your money if you return items anytime without receipts (1 day or after 4yrs). Back in the days I know Nigerian students who returned TVs to Walmart after completing graduate school (in Canada). Its not just a Nigerian thing, locals here do it a lot. I personally hate such and often discourage my spouse from returning items already used extensively because others are doing it. I am also an entrepreneur and I would want to be paid for products and services I offer for sale. |

MisterJeph: Hello Nairalanders.
I attended an interview yesterday, it wasn't my first interview but it was the first time a question caught me off guard. I was always prepared before interviews and do my research on the hiring company. But yesterday, when the interviewer asked me; "are you creative?, (I would have just answered yes, and he would have asked me what creative things I've done) my brain went blank for a second and I started looking for a suitable answer.
Don't get me wrong, I have creative ideas, but have I really done something creative? I can act, write plays, but my guess was the interviewer wanted my answer to be in line with the position I was applying for, so I started fumbling for the right answer, after a while uneasiness began to appear on the face my interviewer, apparently I was wasting too much time on this one question. So I let out only thing bouncing up and down in my mind; "I can act sir, if knowing how to act counts as being creative".
I was applying for a bank job for crying out loud, not auditioning for a movie role. How does acting correlate with banking?
Over to you guys. How should I have done justice to the question? Creativity in this context means problem solving. How to respond and solve the problems that might come during day-to-day operation. |

Sarang: What type of investments did you make sir? I am very interested. Advanced degrees to the top level followed by years of postdoctoral experience with a university research group. While your age groups are buying houses or life luxuries (which they really don't own) you are busy reading in the library or running experiments. Can you put another 7-9 years of your life after getting a BSc to something you are not even sure how it will end? Can you run experiments all night continously for 7days taking some "stupid' reading while everyone is sleeping? That's the kind of investment I meant. Just hardwork. It's no different from taking business risk. The fact that you spend all those years working hard to get all the degrees in this world does not guarantee you a job. Of course you can always end up somewhere. |

Sarang: What do I need to study to get such a job? You need to study to the PhD level. Choose a field in Engineering, Biomedical, Science (not all areas). But to achieve that you need to end up in the industry, not in the university. Only very few professors supported by big time funding make that kind of money. If you are privileged to do your PhD under the supervision of a top level professor known in the industry as a leading expert in that field, I could say you are made for life. Companies will run after you. But as in everything in life there are no guarantees, because you are just an employee. You could target being financially independent later in your career. That's also a different ball game in a white-man's world. |

Redman44: Let me make my own case on this matter. You do not have to agree with me on what I am going to say. This is just my take and opinion on this topic .
Most of the food in Canada is processed food. You have the opportunity of eating natural food in Nigeria 85% of the time. Most African meals are very natural and nutritious without any processing input. In Canada, most of the food will be in Cans,Tins and Packets. We don't value what we have in Africa. The western world is a business machine that keeps grinding on a 24 hours basis. This machine needs immigrants to keep it running. Immigrants are the fuel that makes Canada, USA, UK etc run well. There is no doubt about that. Everything in Canada is organized in such a way that the Country benefits from you more than you benefit from the Country. Yes, the system is not perfect in Nigeria and we have a lot of problems. If we can remove the GREED that dwells in a lot of Nigerians, the country will be better for it. Our Parents should take it easy in their quest to 'eat the fruits of their Labour'. They should stop using all sorts of tricks and lies to obtain money from their children sometimes. If we can sort out this problem of an 'Entitlement Mentality' from our society in Nigeria, Nigeria will become one of the best places to live in the world.
If you are in Nigeria, you have the luxury of eating very natural food from all parts of the country. Food prices are different all over the country. You can grow most crops in Nigeria in your home, I'm telling you. Why did people stop having gardens in their home in Nigeria? Western food is not that nutritious and this is why you find Asian Restaurants having a lot of patronage from white people. I have seen family members who are 60 years + in UK,USA etc and they have not achieved much. That plate of Eba and vegetable soup you will eat tonight, do you know how much you will pay for it in Canada? What about the mental illnesses and cancer among the whites and native populations of Canada, Australia etc? If you continue eating this Processed food for a long time, coupled with the weather, you might develop illnesses as time goes on. There are so many Positives and Negatives of living in Canada or in Nigeria . One thing I know is that Nigeria is a very virgin and untapped land which has a lot of opportunities. There is nothing wrong in emigrating to Canada though. Cheers. Its obvious you understand the western system. And you know what they do? They will place a dialysis company close to each neighbourhood to help make more money from you once their food has messed up your kidney. The West has its good side but you need to understand the system to be ahead. |
