GeneralShepherd:You see the problem you have is this. You are giving advise through your own context or experience. You said people as young as 25yrs. Here we are talking about someone who is probably in mid-20s or early 30s that is just coming from Nigeria. And you want to compare that same person with native Australians or someone from an immigrant family living in Australia or who moved there, already got an education there. Is permanent residency in Australia automatic if you school there? Will you get job right away after leaving school as a foreign student. Put context in your response. While you are more concerned about people back home not thinking you are living a tough life in Australia, I am more concerned about giving advise on all possibilities. |
GeneralShepherd:How much of that $70k remain in your bank account at the end of the year. And that $70k is the gross income before tax. What's the net income? Look beyond the immediate numbers. Australia has high income tax rate. |
GeneralShepherd:I can only laugh. Let us analyze your lie very well since you think I am based in Nigeria. I wish I can give you my name and do a search on Google with it. So, let us list typical monthly expenses and you list the amount you pay for each. What's your annual tax? Mortgage or rent, health insurance, auto loan, auto insurance, day care for kids, property tax (annual), Annual home community tax (for property owner, if any), life insurance, utilities, internet/phone; you can add or remove from the list based on Australia context. To clarify again, the comment you read gave one side of the possibility while a second comment I gave after also gave another (possibly rosy) side. Point is how many % of Nigerians get to that rosy side. You don't just give a one side rosy picture. Give both sides because not everyone would have your level of perseverance, hardwork or foresight. At a point in my life in West, I was at a six-figure income. It took over 15years of investment of time and hardwork after first-degree. And there are no guarantees. Please learn how to advice people the right way. There are lots of immigrant Nigerians living tough lives. |
GeneralShepherd:You are surely lieing. How many Australians can go to school to pay $60k AUD without student loan or family support. Did you go there as an immigrant with permanent residency or someone who just flew in with a visa and became an illegal immigrant. There is no lie in my comment. How many native Australians have $55k (AUD) in their bank accounts. I am not saying that it's not possible to attain high income in the West but what percentage of Nigerians have achieved that with genuine wealth and 100% assets belonging to them and not the system. I made another post where I said you can even make your to earning $200k per annum but it's not guaranteed. I know what I am saying because I've been there. Do you know how many years you need to invest to achieve that and what it comes with. At the end of the day the system will take back most of the money. Someone who have the same job in the oil industry in Nigeria will come in to buy a house cash down while you in Canada is still paying mortgage. Even the personal income tax rate in Australia could be up to 45% in Australia. So better give credible response. |
Young man. I won't lie to you. You can work your way to earning up to $200,000 Canadian per annum but it require a lot of work, sacrifice and it's not guaranteed. Been there before but you have to learn to kiss white man "asses" to keep your job. Moment you start showing you are the "man" they will frustrate you out of the system. Most Nigerians who are very successful in the white man system know how to do that. At least its money you want. Is it not? |
Godbpraised:Tell them. They never sabi anything. More than 90% Canadian dont have to $20,000 in their account not to talk of $55K (N15 M). |
KIDfurniture:Great comment. |
N15 million is approximately $55 000 (Canadian). You will be surprised that 90% of Canadian don't have that amount of cash in savings. Most don't own their homes until they are around 55-65 years because the houses belong to the banks until mortgage is paid off. In fact most dont have or own assets. They are just regular Joe with piles of debts on their head. But they do have better quality of life because of a working system. Though this does not guarantee happiness. So, if I were you, I will invest in a low risk business in Nigeria and be patient to grow that money. The only reason I can advise any youth to travel abroad is to get better education, get a little experience and work to become independent. Chances of being rich is very small. Only a very, very small fraction of immigrants have achieved that. You will just be okay with lots of debt until near old age. Be wise. |
Nigerians and the good things of life they cannot produce. They will want to drive this on their pot-hol filled roads. Lovers of poverty. Get off your ass and propose a product or service that provide solution to just one of thousands of problems facing that society. That's the way to create wealth that last. Not by Yahoo-Yahoo, stealing, or ritual. |
Hedonini:Then stay in your corner quietly and don't come online to flaunt material things from ill-gotten wealth. The fact that your actions influences our youths then we want to know your source of income because you could turn out to be a bad influence. I just read here where someone said "he only need 1/10 of the ill-gotten fund and it's okay he get life-time jail sentence". Imagine if that person saying this is your younger brother. |
Smalldick123:May heavens grant your wish. Continue to bring curses on yourself. Poverted mind. |
PotatoSalad:Madness! Go and check crime statistics for countries like US, or homicide deaths alone. |
Amuatulu:If you know how the rideshare system work you won't type this. Is the owner tracking his location, to the point of requesting a ride and then getting the same driver? Not likely. |
MelesZenawi:You are all sick in the head. Sharia ko, Sharia ni. It's that same religion that will send all you fanatics to where you claimed is preserved for the infidels. Imagine, foreign religion. |
SalamRushdie:Continue to lie to yourself. Just make sure you show your comment here to the consulate officer in order to secure your US visa. |
gypsey:It is his money they want to collect. You all do not know what the USA economic system is built on. They feel that because he is Nigerian he probably won't be able to justify those funds. The system is there to make money for their lawyers, judges, and others. We know this because we live it daily. Not sure how long he has been investigated but his recent move to transport Nigerians free of charge put him and his company under international spotlight. It's like "lets check out this nigger". You need to understand how these people work. If the system want to get you, you can't escape it except if you are a step ahead which require extreme diligence. |
plaindealer:Keep your mouth quiet man! Which US justice system are you talking about. Is it not the same system that unjustly convict thousands every year for crimes they did not commit. Wrongful convictions are a common thing in the USA and they are often driven by shady, overzealous or corrupt prosecution and biased jury. |
Xavi2019:Where do you practice Agriculture? Is it not in the field or farm! |
Coldie:Third time! |
bjt:Thor is for the Greeks. Ours is Sango. It existed before the Greek came along. And remember Greek culture was borrowed from ancient Egypt. And where was ancient Egypt located? And where did Yoruba claim to come from? The East! |
Deepfeel:Those forces if well used are very selective. I should say specific. Every being, human or animal as a "oriki" (pyrogenics) in Yoruba. You can call out the "being" as wished. |
oz4real83:Other way around. Yoruba places higher value on human lives. |
Lucky you. Your lucky that this happened before marriage. And she could not even fake it as most would do. Pick race like "Dauda the sexy guy". |
drskyfly007:Thanks for your post. It's obvious most Nigerians back home are very naive and do not understand how things work in the West. Simply because it's coming from the West, then it's TRUE or that charges are valid. Abi is it not the same "white-man" that enslaved and stole from you continously for multiple centuries. And now all of a sudden they have become so perfect. You folks need a slap on the face. Better wake up from your slumber. Let them come to Nigeria and pick him up. |
To you Nigerians back home, better open your eyes. Now, all of a sudden after Air Peace helped moved Nigerians free of charge from South Africa, and got good publicity they suddenly completed investigations on him. The US prison is filled with many innocent individuals, mostly blacks, that were wrongly convicted for crime they did not commit. The US justice system is filled with corruption as well. The difference with country like Nigeria is that there are system for individuals to seek redress. So, this Onyeama case is all trumped up charges by over zealous prosecutors. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/14/us/convict-exonerations-2017.html |
Richdad50:So, Dangote is someone that came out from no where and became a billionaire, gbam, just like that. He has been in business for more than 40 years. I suppose they are still investigating him. You people have been sold the idea by the West that none of you is trustworthy, and you are buying into that. Come sit down and watch crime stories on US TV or on YouTube. You will run away from an average Oyinbo man. Some say they have been investigating Onyeama since 2010, and few months after he help moved Nigerians from South Africa free of charge, they just suddenly completed investigations. You trust these people so much. See I have been living among them for close to 2 decades, and all the lies they sell you folks back home won't in the ears of individuals like us. |
How? From what? We know how condition before he became a governor. |
udemzyudex:There is a racial angle to it. Like how blacks in America are given bad publicity. Now it's the symbolic black nation on earth. You Nigerians need to wake up. |
Yankiss:That's how you Nigerians are brainwashed and fooled easily by the media. You thought "these countries are clean". The amount scammed by Nigerian scammers is child play to what's lost to fraud in the USA carried out US citizens and non-Nigerian scammers. The difference is Nigerian scammers make too much noise. |
Our pride shouldn't be whether a Nigerian or African artist win the Grammy or not. This is part of what the western world use to dominate other cultures. Elevate your mindset. Africans make better music than them. Africa is the home of rhythms. |
beresponsible:Really? Angela Kidjo, you really do not know music. You think it's that trash sang by most of Nigerian musicians. She is a veteran anyway. I am sure she would prefer Burna Boy to win this time. She is a true child of Africa with a lot of originality and African culture portrayed in her music/videos. |
