Normally police won't stop you on the road to ask for insurance except if you have done something wrong, like jump red light or stop sign, have non-functioning light, overspending, etc. First they ask for your driver's license and then your insurance paper. Don't believe that everyone you see on the road has insurance, white or black. There are a lot of them here in the US. When accident occur such drivers simply abscond.

Most of the funds will end up in the pocket of APC politicians because most of the contractors are politicians or allies of politicians. Every year you see the huge sum they budget for drainage but go out there most drainages are filled with plastic bottles, weeds, and soil.

Yes, okay to check sub-standard products but he did a poor journalism job. You dont present a single low quality product as if all rice are like that. He should have at least compared 2 to 3 different quality rice and also state the price. Then with a statement to indicate more need to be done to ensure only quality rice get to the market. That is good journalism. For example, his tweet can be picked up by foreigners wanting to import Nigeria rice for example .... you never know.. just saying... branding is important... that's what is killing Africa, especially Nigeria. Come to America, there is a lot of bad things happening here but they have branded their country as "heaven" on earth until you get there.

"Patience" is the way to go because as long as it is Nigeria we must have the worst experience of these things (such as stony rice) before they can improve. I guess Nigeria is truly a banana Republic like some say, hence no rules, no quality checks or controls. Where there is no standard anything goes.
As usual the government is failing to play one of its major function, regulating and overseeing that products with minimum level of standard enter the market. Corruption won't let them. I heard a Ghanaian minister say on online tv show that only Nigerian market will accept Ghana's sub-standard mango juice, which they dare not attempt to export to Asia or Europe.

Mumu country. Rice that u're getting at less than N10k, you prefer subsidizing for farmers to produce above N20k for inferior quality...
Instead of focusing on cassava, cocoa, oil palm, yam, etc that u have more than other countries

Common crude oil you have, you can't refine.
# CursedLeaders!
What stop you too from focusing on farming by growing cassava, cocoa, palm oil and otheras.. Or have you loaned out your hands to manual dry cleaners?

Aboki man with his iliteracy and mediocrity since indpendence. You make lowgrade rice fit for cows and goats and you expect humans to start eating them. The last one i ate was exactly this colour. i still have tooth ache. let me give you clear example of what should have been done. back then we used to listen to alot of foriegn songs like Naughty by nature,2 pac, biggie, etc. most Nigerian songs were not even ive a chance. but when a new generation came, the songs improved. In most parties, what we play are 100 percent Nigerian songs. why? because in as much as our songs might not be the best in the world, we IMPROVED. now we have singers who collaborate with Amercan artiste there was no law by PMAN to stop the sale of oyinbo music in Nigeria, it died a natural death because they improved. no one listens to foriegn music that much. in this case, ask yourself why Nigerians refuse to eat local rice? This is one of the reason. you DONT FORCE QUALITY. You improve the compitetion and make thse farmers work harder to improve their stock and Nigerians would buy theirs without even complaining. but NO the Northern president thinks we are like them. everyting has to be done by force. the most uneducated and unexposed president we have ever had. Abacha was a bad man but light years better than this clueless man called Buhari. it would only make the famers feel that they are doing us a favour and will not improve one bit. if what they have is the best then i am sorry for this country.
Your analogy may seem appropriate but Nigeria was not spending billions of dollar to "import" foreign music. I got your point because I belong to that generation too. We rather listen to Shalamar or Cool and the Gang than listen to own Dizzy K. But food issue is a security and economic issue. If you know the "war" been targeted at Nigeria for it to break up by external forces, not to talk of internal self-imposed challenges, your patriotism will skyrocket. Fourteen countries with most in west Africa are under the control of France. Nigeria is an hindrance to French total control of the Ecowas region. We should all learn to persevere and recommend suggestions for local production to get better. Nothing good come easy.

The problem I have with this post is the so-called "investigative journalist" just using one example of a local rice to castigate all locally produced rice. You call yourself an investigative journalist? You should have at least present a minimum of three local rice of different quality, not the worst of them all. Sorry to say this, your journalist career has a question mark because I dont see you getting employed by a serious organisation. Its people like you that allow this irresponsible government to want to regulate social media.

To docile, ethnic bigot, and petty-minded Nigerians. May your shame continue. I suppose you all prefer darkness instead of the light. When someone came out to fight for you and against issues like this, you called him names. He was illegally detained and many of you clapped. Don't worry, BBNaija will soon be back on the screen, something to distract your shallow minds once again. You ain't seen anything yet. Another 30 years from now, you would probably be feeding on each other with your projected 400 million population. Don't change your ways. There will be nowhere to run.

That's why we are blacks. In Europe if u capture such animal alive and hand it over to zoologists u become a hero with reward but here the 1st thing that comes to mind is asun. After eating it what next? See the way they are even happy carrying it to slaughter. Chai. Even keeping it as a pet and feeding it is better off than slaughtering it to eat. No animal is wild when managed properly. The moment u feed them well they become ur best friend and they ease out stress thats why the whites are always happy. Damn.
Continue to fool yourself with the false image of themselves they sold to you. The same Europeans and Americans go to Africa on hunting expedition, hunting down lions and other animals. This type of tour business is dominated by the same white people not locals. Did anyone say that crocodiles are in danger of extinction in Nigeria?

It's a mental thing. Because you are born into a country that adopted their system, in government or politics, economy, education, etc. Or does Nigeria have any home-grown system in place? Even culture itself, Nigerians are losing that.

U see d tin about hate is that it makes u blind
Eh! See this one. Yoruba movies existed before anyone even dreamt of Nollywood. How old are you. I watched a Yoruba movies twice at cinema houses in the early 80s. An Ogunde movie at the National Theater and Adelove movie (with Papiluwe as main character) at the Glover Memorial Hall on Lagos Island. It used to be on a road off-Marina Street back in the days. Those were original Yoruba movies with great storylines with great quality than what we have now. Do you even know Ogunde, Adelove? Or is it Feyikogbon series we used to watch every Sunday.

There was also a very popular cinema house on Broad Street back then, not far from Shell building. I think it was called Sheila Cinema. I remember watching a Chinese movie there with an uncle.

Point is there used to be a Cinema culture back in the days especially in Lagos and Yoruba movies were part of the attractions. Those movie houses simply disappeared one after another.

Lesson 1- Stay true to yourself and culture.

Lessin 2- Oscar is not setup for your kind.

Lesson 3- You don't need external validation if the quality of your work or movie is good.

Stupid Africans all these things (award, etc) are there to maintain their domination over you. Worse part is you can't even come up with a quality movie in your own language. Too many Koons in Nigeria.

THIS IS ECONOMICS NOT POLITICS, PLEASE!
In May 2015 PMB was inaugurated
In Dec 2015 Argentina President Macri was inaugurated
1. International monetary fund (IMF) offered Nigeria & Argentina a loan
Argentina received $50bn from IMF
PMB declined.
2. IMF ask Nigeria & Argentina to devalue their currency.
Argentina devalued their currency by 566%.
PMB resist devaluation of Naira.
3. IMF ask Nigeria & Argentina to stop defending their currency.
Argentina stop defending their currency through their central bank.
CBN defend our currency & put dollar withdrawal limit to $1000 monthly. That was when some foreign students rain curses on PMB.
LET'S COMPARE ARGENTINA & NIGERIA TODAY.
Argentina can't pay the $50bn they borrowed from IMF.
Nigeria has 0.0000 debt from IMF.
Today inflation (cost of goods) in Argentina is 54.3%
Inflation in Nigeria is 11.24%
Argentina now put monthly dollar withdrawal limit to $200.
Nigeria now lift it's dollar withdrawal limit.
Had PMB not hold his ground & reject IMF offer we may end up like Argentina.
Nigeria is heading towards the right direction and am proud to be part of this Evolution.
Though your comment is not directly related to the topic, I am responding because I sensed all along international donors are mad at Buhari. I was once a Buharist but changed my mind about him after the middle-belt killings. Nonetheless I still support him on two issues. For refusing to ignore IMF advice to devalue Naira and for temporarily closing land borders. The noise about Nigeria becoming poverty capital of the world is IMF and World Bank agenda after Buhari refused to yield to their advice. They are colonialists mercenaries and use the media pretty well to bring governments down. And sometimes they may come in directly to topple governments that act too stubborn. Sadly most Nigerians are deep in slumber because they do not understand how the world work.

Keep your mouth quiet ethnic "animal". Majority of your people make their decisions based on ethnicity, most Yoruba people don't make decisions based on that. Sowore issue is a Nigerian issue, not an ethnic one. Go work on your mental shortcoming. I am Yoruba. I once linked and funded an Igbo professor to a foreign R & D group I used to work with. At least he should have money somewhere to use to bail himself. Nigerians, you are your own enemy no. 1.

Olodo, at least try to make more sense. Gas, gasoline, and diesel are all different petroleum products, with increasing density in that order. Gas in Europe is used mostly in heating homes during winter, and for electric power generation. Gasoline is for vehicles while diesel is for heavy duty vehicles.
And it's also a shame that your "shitty" country as you claimed has one of the best grades of oil in the world that is light and low in sulphur which is highly desired by refineries than "shitty" sulphur containing heavier oil from Saudi, Canada, or Venezuela for example.
