dsunmade: Is it possible to connect a dc power supply source to a charge controller instead of a solar panel?Yes its possible if the dc supply is in the operating range of the charge controller. But the dc supply should be well filtered to reduce harmonics. A desktop pc power pack would make an excellent dc supply. You should not try this experiment with an MPPT charge controller though. |
uj_sizzle: Oh they do....just not when they expect itNo, Cersei should be n02. Her inbred, Geoffrey needs a horrible death asap. I wish he could die from Arya's sword. |
fikfik: EMERGENCYUnfortunately yes. My friend's Morning star MPPT had similar scenario right before my eyes. |

naijababe: The guy is just too buttery jare.I concur. That role needs a Johnny Depp- like character. |
See each FC as a manufacturing company producing a consumer product that is widely acceptable. See each player as factory of this company each in strategic locations. Budget is allocated to each factory based on output. |
Depends on the brand of your inverter and charge controllers. The more sophisticated brands can sense other charging sources and adjust accordingly. Read your user manual. |
Why BJT instead of MOSFET. Heat loss is too much from bjt transistors. Good point on the tantalum though. |
Saib4Jesus: Pls, can anybody in the house help me out, I have a UPS 650va I just converted to serve as an inverter with a battery of 12v 200 amp. I presume the ups cannot charge the battery so I need an external charger in line with the discussion so far. I don't know how it looks and where to possibly get it. The Buzz sound of the ups is disturbing I don't know how to disable it, I am also considering putting à cooling fan, don't know how to go about all these. Pls I need help. For the charger, look for a switch mode charger. You may need to search well, cos the linear charger is more common. The switch mode charger is generally transformerless, lighter and less bulky than the linear type. Also the linear charger sold in Nigerian market has no a.c line regulation, I.e if your nepa is not 220v you need a stabilizer otherwise you get erratic d.c output. The linear charger in Nigerian market usually has no charge regulation I.e it may overcharge your battery if you don't off it manually. Lastly your beeper can be desoldered. Just get a soldering iron and a little lead. The beeper is cylindrical and black about 1cm diameter. |
George_D: feasy1,I am very sure your harvest will shoot up if you adjust the inclination of your panels. I suggest you make aluminium frames to prop up the panels. I noticed this difference in my last installation where I strictly aligned in E-W with just a slight tilt to south. The 5250watts polycrystalline harvests averagely double what the 3360watts monocrystalline array produces. The only reason I can find is just the non-optimal inclination of the 3360watts array which is tilted towards SE. |
hunter2,1:You'be seen too many episodes of Fringe. ![]() |
How come threads like this make front page. 99% Nigerians don't know where Thaiti is. |
It will harvest more if both are tilted south. |
TotalGreen: this controller can handle 5 x 12volts battery, in the past when we needed to charge a 120volt battery for inverter like sukam and others, using 24volts charge controller was a lot, we needed to use like 5 x 24volts controller to do that, then the 24 volts controllers are like 30amps each, if we needed 60amps we needed to do like 10 x 24volt charge controller. But that is like connecting 2 fm60 in series? Their tech support didn't like the idea when I asked them 3yrs ago. |
@feasy1 The 68.7 is max battery reading during one of the charging modes(may just be a brief spike). I didn't adjust much on the flexmax 80. Adjusting may not necessarily give better harvest. I just used default setting for 48v. NB: check the stat or log on your fm80 |
feasy1: Many thanks bro, only following your footstep. I taught you were completely off grid, but reading your post now guess I can take it slowly and use the grid whenever it is available. I'd probably use less than 50kWh per month which should qualify for the lifeline R1 residential at NGN4 /kWh and zero fixed charge right? anyone in this category for PHCN billing??. Not sure if that work with the prepaid meter billing though.Yes it's 48v. The second installation actually out-performs the first. The main reason is the almost perfect alignment of the arrays in the east- west axis, tilt towards south. That alignment was not possible in the first installation due to aesthetics reasons. @All Timer switch helps manage your power. Recently my wife insisted on adding a freezer to her kitchen collection. With a timer switch on existing fridge, and another on the freezer, I was able to accommodate the new load.
|
Have been doing hybrid since. Whenever nepa is available I use it. Weather has been cloudy recently. I thought of increasing my array size, but I may move home soon. My other installation is doing well though. It's not possible for me to monitor in details, cos I don't live there. I just took a shot of peak power.

@ all women having fibroid, please do not listen to all these natural remedy touts. They waste your time and money. Consult a gyneacologist. |

Re enacting such piece of history does not come cheap. Old Benin empire is very rich in traditional practices and artifacts. Much of the artifacts has been carted away by the british- some in private collections. So far all the nollywood epics done so far are based on cheap improvisations. |
Could the muslim apologists kindly address the point raised in original article about african slave population thriving in the americas after abolution in contrast to middle east where there is no significant black population. I am appalled by the possibilty it was due to routine castration of black men. If indeed islam was anti slavery, were there no voice of reason like xtainity had in William Wilberforce. |
Nollywoods budget cannot do justice to such historical epic. |
frosbel: Hmm, not really, Joseph's ancestry was clearly traced in this instance or we could ,make the same deduction from Matthew 1. Besides , ancestry Nathan rom the seed of David and had to come from his Male offspring starting with Solomon. You are saying the same thing. Mary and Joseph were both descendants of David. Joseph was a descendant of David via Solomon. Mary was a descendant of David via Nathan (nathan was David's son too). Jewish tradition required Joseph's name be substituted for Mary in luke's genealogy. Why are you seeking a complex solution? |
Some bible commentators, assume the Luke geneology was thru Mary's lineage up to heli joseph's father inlaw. Since females were not quoted in geneologies, Joseph's name was substituted in the geneology. |
adonisgold: There is really no basis for comparism, African writers series was advanced reading, ever tried reading petals of blood by Ngugi wathiongo? Enid Blyton was when we were much younger, Goblins, fairies and Gnomes. Her vivid imagination appealed to kids.I disagree with you.some African writers wrote for young minds: adventures of Souza, juju rock, chike and the river, ifeanyi and obi etc. |
SimonAndal: I have a confession to make, God forgive me: when I was in primary 2, I "pinched" all the Enid Blyton books in our library. I totally had the intention of returning them, but when I was through with one, I had to read it over and over again because it was too damn enchanting. God forgive me.You can yet make amends. Visit CSS bookshop and buy as many children's book as you can and donate to your school. |
@Jon.bee Thanks for this post. This is the first time I see the symptoms laid down just the way it affects me. Like u said the culprits are sweat , heat and dirt. A combination of the three is diabolical. I have grown to manage it over the years. I avoid group programs retreats etc. A more comfortable lifestyle and work environment has made the symptoms now occasional for me. My wife doesnt know. She only questions why I don't dab myself dry in the bath before coming into the bedroom I just ignore her. |
Sitex: I suffer from this too but mine isnt this severe.I use a 100% cotton soft face towel as my sponge. This condition is quite a challenge. It's more torturing when you are amidst a group and you just finished taking your bath, and the questions keep coming. I suffered those years back in school. |
