PoliticsRe: NBS' Poverty Metric For Nigeria Per State by Alba3:
EzeNri:
I will reply your long with just a few sentences.

A country is as wealthy as its citizens. There is no way Ekiti will have rich citizens and be poor.

SW have more vulnerable households than SE.

Stop making excuses for poverty.
You said you passed through Ekiti on your way from Abuja to Lagos; and you used that as your yardstick? Very poor! First of all, most SW cities and towns are not on the main express ways. Let's say you're traveling from Benin via Owo to Ibadan; you will never pass through the main cities and and towns of Owo, Akure, Ilésà, Ifẹ, Ede, etc till you get to Ibadan. You now sit down, judge the states based on where you passed in-between Benin and Ibadan... And you want people to believe your version; that's not common sense! Ede alone has about 4 universities, a polytechnic, nysc camp, 2 army barracks, cocoa processing firms and lots more; not to talk of Owo, Ilesa, ifẹ or Akure... but when you passed through, you only saw the periphery of each; likewise your journey through Ekiti.

Tell me a state in the East with pipe borne water and about 5 water cooperation dams? Maybe you've never witnessed water problems in Abakaliki, even Enugu town. Access to water, food, housing without stress, education and availability of land for use, etc, etc are used not because one man building 10 mansions in the midst of abject poverty, in the midst of millions of adolescent, youths hucking all sorts of stuff in the traffic... there isn't access road to his village and his lga has no bank and less than 5 public secondary schools whereas some lga in the SW have up to 40 secondary schools, and they never really depends on corp members as school teachers...ang there are even tap in school compound.

Let them just run the warm spring resort better... it's an awesome place for vacation and events particularly when one needs to connect with nature. It's not also far from Arinta Waterfalls at Iloro-Ekiti and Olumirin Waterfalls in Erin, Osun state.

Ekiti can make so much money from tourism but successive governments are so lame particularly its Town planning agency. How on earth did the government allow people to build houses in-between or on top those rocks between Yinka and Odo-Iro, Iyin-Ekiti? There're Esa, Abanijorin caves nearby, a great tourist centre but yet to be developed; the cave's main amphitheatre can sit about 1000 people when expanded. The myopic government should have paid compensation to land owners around the place. See pictures & video of the caves here:

I doubt if the resort has ever been handed over to private investor. Maybe you're confusing it with Gossy spring water bottling company at Ikogosi.

Lol.

Making excuses for their fraud NBS.

NBS data don't always reflect reality. Its biased to favour the SW.

There is no way Ekiti will have fewer percentage of poor people than Anambra and Rivers. I have been to the three states and I know what I saw in Ekiti.

You can't compare a purely civil service state to a state like Anambra that is commerce-driven.

How many Ekiti people are in the civil service and how much is even their salary?

Ekiti is not industrialized and the state is not even doing well in agriculture. The government is even owing salaries.

Yemi should tell us how placed Ekiti ahead of Anambra in the poverty index.
You may need to go back to school to be able to ague publicly without being considered as inferior. You hardly known the difference between state wealth, few in wealth and majority being comfortable.

You lay so much emphasis on Ekiti being poor. That they're not building 2 or 3 story buildings or not demolishing their old parents or grandparents buildings doesn't make them poor. How many ordinary people can afford to by land in Awka or Owerri? A teacher or bike man that built bungalow in Ado is better and comfortable than his colleagues living in unkept 3 story buildings without water in Onitsha. Ekiti people are known to be among the best and early educated people in the country and majority of Ekiti people live outside the state: in the cities and abroad because of their early exploits in education which didn't keep them in the state.

There is virtually no Ekiti family without cash crops' farm. You can verify how much cocoa or Kola nut farms fetch in a year: there are hundreds of thousands of people from other states, including your people working on these farms and many farm settlements on the roads you referred to as Ekiti villages.

See, there's no single Ekiti town without pipe borne water; there's also water reservoirs and about 10 large dams in Itapa, Ikun, Gogo, Ureje, Ogbese, Itapaji, Gbonyin, etc. The towns and villages are well served with modest roads networks and many of them have commercial Banks. You can't find all these in Enugu and many of your states. Enugu has just 2 towns and that's where you find banks, except one at Orji. The only dam in Ezeagu is only serving firms at 9th mile and government house.

I have lived in every state of the SE. Don't be deceived by businessmen building mansions everywhere but they're still the minority when compared with the general population of the area. However, majority of Ekiti, Ondo, Osun are comfortable. They may not be building story buildings but most of the spacious bungalows are comfortable. My only issue is continuous use of Iron roofing sheets Zinc) being sold to them by your brothers. They're even buying at higher cost than cheapest aluminium sheet; just because of deception that the later will be condemned quicker. There's need to ban Zinc. Most that get money don't believe in show off; they are very modest and concern more about the education of their children. These are indices used in measuring poverty not because state is in debt or story buildings.
In the East, Anambra is a reference point. It competes with the the best in Nigeria, no doubt about that.

PoliticsRe: Food Blockade: The Impending Food Crises In The South Is Unnecessary by Alba3: 4:07pm On Mar 02, 2021
A decision has been made to starve a section of the country. To be forewarned is to forearmed; it's a great hope that governors in each region of the South will call meetings to preserve the lives of people that elected them. Although for decades, the Federal government supports agricultural development of the North through countless irrigation system, free and subsidized fertilizer and making sure there is available market for the produce by banning importation of these produce. The billions of dollars being used is mainly from the Southern oil, ports and customs' duties.

Most of the states in the South are self sufficient, they can grow whatever they need except places like Lagos and PH. The major staples in the South is from cassava, yam, plantain, rice and all sorts of cowpie which people are readily growing. The SW people eat more of Amala and Ewedu, Eba, rice, etc with vegetables everywhere. The SS and SE likewise the same except in place of Amala and Ewedu, they have Akpu and Ogbono. There are lots of food crops, fruits, chickens, eggs, fishes that readily available to eat.
However, because of the population of the people in the cities and our lack of good leadership that should have envisaged the plan of the North before now, the south would have to endure for some time to fill up the gaps. This is a blessing in disguise and God used this to reveal the deadly plans of the North.

To avoid eating poison in future, Northern foodstuffs and perishable should be banned in the South. Bad chemicals like sniper is being used to preserve their beans and the cows are a kind of curse to our spirituality... people are being killed for the meat you eat; humans are mating with what you eat! The other things the North brings can easily be planted if not lazy. Get a small place to grow your pepper, onion and tomatoes. For the wise, this is opportunity to make money. There are lots of countries in W/Africa that are looking for where to sell their stuff like beans which are being infested with weevils, also cows.

Open grazing should be thoroughly prohibited in the South. The government should do everything to block foodstuffs coming from the North. The southern governments should support mechanised farming in crops and animal husbandry. Benin Republic people's tomatoes are rotten away, they should be brought in; so also cows and chickens until we can produce what we consume fully. The Northerners should not be allowed to head ports and customs commands in the South again. Northerners readily bring cows mainly from Niger & Chad but Southerners can't do same through Benin borders. We should care less about where they are boasting to sell their produce to. All I know is that the whole world is eyeing Southern markets; We're over 100 million in population with lots of purchasing power than anywhere in Africa. The North wants to put an end to their father Christmas' market.

A wise people of the South should prevent mass killings through poison of food by avoiding northern cows and food, even if they decide to start bringing them. Most expecially, the leadership of the South should call for reform without wasting time again.

Foods and meats are cheaper in international markets and West Africa. Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, etc are looking for where to sell their beans and cows... the government is only forcing us to eat bloody cows and tomatoes that would have been wasted.

Very very good. I'm going into tomatoes farming and goat ranching myself. So, I should allow you continue killing people here so that I can buy and eat your produce?

Hope you people will stop using money generated from oil to prosecute your war against Boko Haram and giving bandits, all running into billions of dollars. That money would have turned Niger Delta into Dubai.

Civic better fuel economy good looking and easy to maintain.

Avensis bigger interior, the 2.4az may not be prone to oil burn, but cost of body parts.

I have always loved avensis because it's an affordable toyota and not a robbers magnet like other offering
Very close; the two seem to be ok, just to take any one, although Avensis seems to have more grand clearance. Thanks so much.
