As a newbie planning on entering the Nigerian used car dealership. I intend buying of Nigerian used cars and reselling within One month timeframe.

Please, lay emphasis on "One (1) month" timeframe, because that is how long I intend to keep the cars before selling them. Now that is where I need your advice, car gurus in the house;

Do I need to do a change/transfer of car ownership since I intend on reselling the cars as soon as possible?

Just so you know, I'm not financially handicapped. I have two RX, 330 and 350. I was lucky to use one of my friends car, corolla and I was surprised by the fuel consumption to mine. That's where the issue started from. From Abeokuta to Akure 7500 fuel while with RX 20k with fuel light on at the end of the journey. I'm keeping the RX for Sure, but with the advise so far, I will get a corolla for my hustle and keep the Lexus for luxury.

When doing business, you need to calculate the expenses. If one doesn't spend wisely, it won't take time before one runs broke.

On Es350,
2k fuel = 40 miles
Abeokuta to Akure = 177 miles
Total fuel = 8,850 Naira fuel for the Journey

I have a foreign used 2008 TOYOTA sienna AWD. The problem I have with it is that the engine goes off whenever I shift the gear from park to drive, something the tachometer will drop from 2 to below 1. I already changed the injector mouth, I tried a new brain box, but the problem still persists.


Is there anyone here that has experienced similar issues before? Please help a brother out.

NB. Apart from that, the car drives smoothly and the selection is excellent.

But I have reliable boys at the back of the prison yard who help me with the legs…

I have been using them for years because any mechanic you took your car to in Ibadan is still coming to gate to buy the part. That is why I love the prison yard right beside the market

We can agree that the most common brands to look at are the Toyota and Honda brands, perhaps nissan as well for the aspects of being maintainable.

However, i'd appreciate if some experts in the house can share more information about such.

If they are replacing with brand new OEM parts, the cost should be within that figure they quoted...Exchange rate is crazy these days

But a skilled ac technician should be able to find a way to cut down on the cost and give you an AC system that will last for years, brand new OEM parts or not..

One thing you should know is that OEM parts will also fail if not properly installed...what you need right now is an AC guy who knows what he is doing, not some nigga in an air conditioned office speaking "fonee", throwing parts anyhow at your expense, and billing you without conscience...

In any case, you need a second opinion as to whether all those things they stated needed replacing are actually bad, and so bad that they can't be fixed instead of replaced..

Contact Mosbus on this forum ...he is an AC technician based in Lagos I think..a very good one with many positive reviews here...maybe he can connect you with his guys in abj who can fix you up, that's if you guys can't come to an arrangement about how he can personally attend to your vehicle...

But still do your due diligence tho...I am not undertaking responsibility for whatever may go wrong if you transact with him...I just recommend am unto say many people here have testified of his good works..I have not had any transaction with him..heck, I don't even know what he looks like ...but no one has come out to complain here about his workings yet ...

Definitely not a brand new Oem parts. Compressor of that model is more than 400$. Rather than spending 395k with an irrelevant 29k vat fee, better to meet someone that can check the whole system for leaks, and order the faulty parts yourself....

Today I decided to take my 2012 Lexus RX 350 to an auto repair shop in Abuja to fix the compressor issue. After computer diagnosis, I was served this invoice. I've not bought any of these parts before, it's my first time. I would like to know what you think about the cost I was given in this quote.

Compressor is faulty, but they decided to replace the whole AC compartment, it will even be more shocking if realized they didn't bring down the dashboard to check for leaks...... Including Oxygen sensor replacement to that list is already a turn off for me ...

before you change parts in your car, consult 3 mechanics and scan the car.... If not, you will keep on doing trial and error till they remove all the factory parts of the car...

Only those around me knows I have a ride.... you can't see all those things on my social media account... And it's because of no other thing than to avoid creating enemies. Once you Drip on status, they bill you, you give them excuse, they will reserve a place for you in there heart patiently waiting for you to be broke and appear in there DM....

Before you Drip on social media, ensure you are not in this country and you are in a position where you can never go broke again.... Those 2 things are very important....

honestly, you're not alone. I have stopped Facebook for a long time. I turned off my read receipt and stopped posting on WhatsApp status. My Dp has been same for years. It's so bad that I can't even ask anybody how they are anymore without them bringing in money problems. When I see unusual calls, I think very hard before taking it. It's not thier fault tho, the country is hard. But These people don't understand that everybody is feeling it. Most of them now ask for little money like 1k-3k, they know you would be lieing when you say you don't have that kinda money but they don't know how many people you have given money that day, week or month. It's just so disheartening. This country hard for even the people earning.
