Please o mamas, help your girl. Our birthday is tomorrow but the party will be on Sunday, i'm trying hard to put a plan together but a few hitches here and there. Pardon me if some sound ridiculous like the first nw. We plan to go for our photoshoot tomorrow(shebi any good studio like studio 24 can do it, i'm in ph) as he will be exactly one tomorrow but tomorrow is also his 12 months immunization and we have to go in the morning. The question now is will he be in a good mood ans and smile well seeing that the 12months immunization plenty no be small? Or do i schedule it another way? Because we need to drop the pics with the printer to start work on the customized exercise books same tomorrow.
Second question : Please any ideas for things we can add to the gift pack apart from the exercise books, very very affordable things please.
Third question : Ideas on fun games they can play that day. Its a small party, with just few kids but i really want them to have a good time.

Please mamas don't jump and pass (especially if you've been down this road) as i'm planning this alone.
Tips on ways to save cost will be appreciated too

We did the lazy parent approach and had only a photo shoot at home.

For the photo shoot I will say wait till another day. Even on a normal day, babies are unpredictable with photos. Not to talk of a day that they have punctured every where with needles.
Check your phone for a good clear photo the printer can use, maybe one that you took him recently may be going to church or another party.

For the party packs - you can add a story book, packs of sweets and biscuits., small toys. Crayons or colour pencils and colouring books.

For an alternative to the colouring books you can go online and print out some colouring sheets. Download a few as a jpg format and print it out on A4 - back and front and staple together.

For games it depends on the age. If they are under 3, e go tough oh. you can have a little story time and song time with actions.
Games like musical chairs and musical statues are also good for older kids.
A fashion parade is also an option.

You could also do pass the parcel, where you wrap a gift inside like 10 different wrapping papers and you sing a song whilst passing the parcel from one person to the other. when the song ends the person with the parcel, opens a wraper. And on and on until the last person opens the last weaker and wins the gift.

If you have a crawling babies you could do a baby crawling contents where the babies "race" from a starting line to a finish line, one of their parents will usually be at the finish line to encourage the baby,

That's all I can think of for now.
Good luck

@Realtalk19
It is a difficult one to say go or stay and only you can ultimately make that decision. All we will give are different suggestions based on our own different perceptions.

However I am a firm believer that how one behaves when you have little is how one will behave when you have much..... whilst I agree that 40K is little especially when a family with any dependant children are involved. It is no excuse for nasty behaviour to one's spouse or children. If one cannot be gracious with a little, I am sorry, e no get as you wan argue am, that petson will NEVER be gracious with much. ....

What is your mum's interaction with him, as helovesme has said, if your family are constantly in his face with regards his lack of provision, sometimes it can make even a saint lash out. Though I am not excusing his actions, one needs to assess the situation with an objective mind.

Church itself is another matter... if you feel he is getting radicalized in one church,. You need to draw your own battle line spiritually as well, if you decide you want to remain in the marriage, then you have to be ready to defend your territory on all fronts. You can follow him to church no problem, you will just be praying about different things. you keep praying for your family, what you need is not financial breakthrough perse it's an attitude break through.

You feel unloved, if he treated you differently the financial burden will be easier to bear, when in a loving home, and when you feel the other party genuinely has your and the kids wellbeing at heart.

If you want to leave and you are presently the sole provider for you and the kids? Without any support from him. Take a walk now especially if abuse is still on going? Whether physical, verbal or emotional.

All this being said, abeg go for the next fasting session and ask God to grant you clear direction on which decision to make

Wish you all the best.

I want to rant!

I usually don't do this as I'm not a 'sharer'. However, I need to let out all the anger building up in me. Perhaps, I will feel better after venting.

Here goes!

There is a living room, he should sleep there. I believe one is not to share their matrimonial bed. Not with your family, his family or anyone in between. It is much more than the bed, it is your personal space, My bedroom is the only private place in the house I have. My sanctuary!

If I have more guest than room, the oldest gets rights to the bedroom. If you are all the same age and different sex or not close like that the guys usually takes the gentlemanly road and sleep on the couch or with mattress in the living room floor.

First of all you were not consulted which is very wrong of your husband. If it was an impromptu need to stay for night or a weekend, I can understand but for a year how did he forget to mention it to you.....that needed to have been tabled and discussed at length. At least give you heads up.

Tomorrow morning collect money to go and buy spare mattress, pillow and beddings.

End of discussion

Also Sit him down and give him house rules. What you intend not to accept, lay it out.

Not saying that you should be confrontational but it is good everyone starts the long year how they intend to finish.

Besides he can always find alternative accommodation he is not the only corper in the town. How are the others managing?

Call me harsh but you need to put the reality in perspective to appreciate when one is going out of their way for you or when one is taking the pi$$ on someone who is helping them.

Do not save cost at my own expense and still be maximising my inconvenience.

Perhaps after this, you and your hubby need to have an agreement that ALL house guests are discussed with the other spouse before their requests are agreed. If one person gets a call, you do NOT give an answer UNTIL you have discussed it with the other half. That is my own unspoken rule in my house.

If you call my hubby, he will say ah my wife is not at home yet when she gets back we will let you know

Same thing for me. If the other party arch eyebrow wankind you will just know that is either a no- no or a very brief visit.

opella:

recipe please?

Whole chicken - spatchcocked -I.e. cut down the backbone only and spread it out. I cut it down the breastbone as i find breastmeat boring so this helps open up the meat to absorb tbe juices.
You can use pieces as well as other poultry or meat. Guinea fowl or duck. Whole leg of goat or ram as will work well too ( yes i am a carnivore! Don't judge!)
season and leave to marinade for a while - overnight if possible.

Onions - chopped
Carrots - sliced
Bell peppers - mixed colours - chopped
Atarodo - finely chopped
Tomatoes - chopped ( If using the canned fresh ones it has enough juice) if using fresh, you can add a bit of tin tomatoes mixed with a bit of water.
Usual spices and bay leaves.

Get a large casserole pot or pan, that can go from hob to oven If you do not have one use a large pot with metal handles or a deep oven pan with foil covering.

Put some oil in the pot/ pan. Let it heat up and then add the chicken skin-side down and fry for a bit, then turn over to the other side and fry for a bit. 3 -5 mins on each side.

If your pot is big enough you can add the other ingredients in with the chicken. If not take the chicken out and keep aside.

Add your onions, carrots, peppers and tomatoes with bay leaves and season. Let cook for about 2 minutes then add the chicken back in. Ensure you coat it well with the sauce.
Cover it with foil or an oven proof cover, and whack into the oven till the meat is cooked through. For soft chicken this is like 45 mins. Guinea fowl or other meats will take longer.

If you want a browned skin on the chicken you can then open it and increase the oven temperature and leave for like 10 mins.

If adding broccoli steam seperately and add to the casserole just before you serve.

Serve with rice, mash potatoes, chips or as a soup with some bread.

Enjoy!

Any one o jare! They all have sugar. What I usually do is do a full cup of milk and use the tiniest spoon possible of chocolate. Just enough to colour it and change the taste of the milk.

I not give it often enough for the sugar to be an issue though. Like once in 2 weeks.

MumJJJ:

Finally, well done mama.
please I have checked it up but I need some clarifications base on the sizes . My babies will be 5 months on the 16th and they are around 9kg, so I need something that will last for them in terms of size.
Am in the east, hope you deliver to the east?

Yes we offer nation wide delivery - the options will come up as you progress your check out.

For prefolds - get the baby sized ones with green edging. this is for weight range of 9kg to 15+Kg. that will be your best bet as you are likely to use this till they are potty trained.

For the bamboo inserts get the one that comes as a 2 pack as these are designed to be used together for older babies. they can o snap into the covers or you can used the separatley as boosters for addeed absorption or for younger babies

For the hemp, i would suggest either the medium or Large. the small is mainly for younger babies and to be used with other nappies if you need some extra absorbency in older babies as they do not add so much bulk.

For nappy covers please get the One-Size (OS) . the other is for newborns and preemies.

Any of the All-in-Ones are one-size as well so they should fit with some adjustment of the rise.

Any other questions please let me know.
