I ordered from jumia! Its yet to be delivered thou.

Our attempt at potty training was a disaster! Maybe I'm just too lazy to put more effort embarassed lipsrsealed .

Personallly I feel anytime before 2 yrs will be tricky of you are not 500% dedicated to it.

Our babies are just a couple of weeks apart. So we can share potty training tips... lol!

Alpha-baby is using the potty small and she is quite comfortable on it. we currently use it for 95% of poos. and for pee, it is currently when we wake up in the morning, at before or after her baths and just before bed. sometimes she pees, sometimes she will just sit there singing.

When i have some free time to sit at home with her i will attempt a no - nappy strategy and see how it works. the only thing i am sure of is that we will not change poo poo "pint"! as for wee wee, lemme go and look for tapoline to line my entire house first before me and Alpha hubby quarrel over why is the chair or rug wet! embarassed

Ok No problem. Hope it fits.

If you dont mind me asking, Where did you buy From?

Also I would say you should start potty trainip
g as well if you already havent. so that you can move on to training pants or normal pants quickly due to his weight.

Cloth diaper people how much is one with inserts sold for? And can I get one to fit 2 year old that weighs 18kg (or more sef cos he is just recovering lost weights)

Cc

18kg!!!! Mama you are right at the end of the size scale.

Most cloth nappies are sized to fit up to 40lbs or 18kg. As that is the size of a typical 3 -4 year old and most babies should have been potty trained by that age. (we understand there may be exceptions)

Although what we have at Mima Bear will fit up to 18kg. We usually say up 35+ lbs or 15+ kg As we want to provide you with a product that you get value and a significant amount of use from.

Also, Whilst the weight is one determinant, the shape of the baby matters a lot.
You can have a shorter and chubbier baby, the same weight with a taller , Lankier baby. So whilst you may struggle to get the nappy on the chubbier one, it will be absolutely fine on the slimmer one.

For toddlers
We will be having a small number of toddler sized prefolds and some bamboo flats that would fit a toddler. but we will need to check the covers to ensure the size first for him.
The is also one of our All-in-ones which is cut a bit more generously and would be ideal for a bigger baby.

Can you take a snug measurement of his waist, where his current nappy sits

and

also the rise, from the top line of his nappy from front to back - between his legs.

This will help me check if what we have will fit.

You can check our instagram and facebook pages for pictures.

Mama please please I beg you guys in the name of God, help me. My baby has been stooping since on Monday. Gave her zinc and ORS . It became worse on Tuesday so we took her to the hospital. Series of tests were done and all came back clean. The doctor said its viral and that it would stop. How she contacted a virus after we took Rota is what I cannot explain. We went to another hospital the following day, they said the same thing. No drug was given. Just to continue zinc and ORS. Stooling was so much yesterday with fever that it was at 11pm we rushed her to a govt hospital. Pediatrician on duty said the same thing. Keep giving zinc and ORS. I suggested giving her flagyl to stop the stooping but the doctor said No. I'm tired. What home remedies can I use to stop this? She hasn't eaten in 48hours,only zinc and ORS is in her tummy. On Monday she was weighing 7.6kg, yesterday she weighed 7kg. Mamas please help me, I'm losing my mind here.

Was the stooling immediately after the Rota immunisation?

That may be the cause. The Rota actually contains some live virus I was told so some diarrhoea may be experienced.

Other causes -

Is she bottle fed? Make sure everything is properly washed and sterilized. A culprit could also be her water flask, people never tend to wash them as often as we should so give it a good wash as well.

Has she suddenly started putting things on her mouth? Ensure you was everything and sterilize where possible if she is using teethers and pacifiers.

Keep giving her the ORS. She needs to keep hydrated. If she was admitted the drip version of the ORS is what they will give her intravenously.

Also keep offering her milk, either breast or Formular try bottle, and also with spoon or cup

Pele . It can be very frustrating.

If she seems to be getting worse, Please go back to the hospital.

That is actually the story line of a fictional book.

His mother was pregnant for 3 years and when she had him he had all his teeth and practically toddler size.

Thanks a lot.

I will work on the areas listed.

Recently, I was forced to query my wife and even compare her with my mom who will travel far to periodic village markets to get good bargain for food items.......and that discussion did not end well
embarassed embarassed

On comparing my self with my colleagues.....Sincerely, I don't want all they have but I want to build a decent home for my family like some other have done.

Do your colleauges also have 4 children? What do their wives earn? Is it also N30K?
Do you know if they were left an inheritance by their family that they are using to supplement their income?
Do you know all the side hustles they are into that they are not declaring to you? Do you know how much debt they may be in to keep up appearances . Never juge a book by its cover. Appearances can be decieving.

Nothing wrong in you wanting better, we all do. But do not base your target on the joneses.

Yeah... never compare your wife with your mother it never ends well, if you feel the village markets will be cheaper.... both of you go there one day to browse and compare the prices. Make a quarterly event of it. If you cannot do monthly.

There are some kind shopping i do not do alone, if my hubby does not take me... welll when he starts seeing half sardine in hisn soup rather than proper meat, he will find time.

77FOT:

Lemme talk my own small, a few things that you may want to think of during your planning.

your income is 400K pcm, wife is 30K PCM

you need to prioritise your spending in order of importance, if your children dont drink milo or buy designer items, they will not die!

Rent if you do not pay rent, you shall be kicked out!
This is 400K pa. that is about N34K if split into montly bills, Therefore you need to allocate at least N50K per month to a dedicated savings account. come hell or high water.... NOTHING touches this. separate this from your savings account . this way, when rent is due, you know the account it is coming out from. the extra on top is to allow for rent increases or you keep it as a savings if not used. that way you gradually build-up a buffer.

There is nothing on your list about utilities, water bill and electricity bills in addition to the fuel for gen and gas for cooking? i take the sachet water is for drinking.

How much is your nepa bill? are the appliances in your house energy efficient, if you have 100W bulbs in your house, you pay more in electricity than having low energy white light bulbs of say 20 W or even less - that is 5 times less energy, therefore your will pay less per KiloWatt/ hour.

Little habits like turning off the lights and appliances fromthe sockets also help. instill this in your kids and they will start getting used to it. if they are not in the room, turn everything off, including the fan.

how often do you use the gen? allocate a time slot for that preferably in the evening when you are home. a few hours per evening between 7 and midnight should be the ideal time, that will allow for any ironing or machine washing to be done and to allow the freezer keep cool.

baby needs - you say, N50K per month is this just for your 7 month old, abi the other children join? your largest baby outgoings will be diapers and feeding:

diapers - you can switch to reusable cloth nappies AND wipes. keep disposables for when you are on the move or at nights . whilst this will have an inital high outlay, it will slash your monthly bill significantly and in about 3 or so months it would have paid for it self. for every disposable you subtitute, it could save you at least N50 per nappy, substituting just 4 disposable nappies a day with cloth ones will save you at least N200 per day that is N73,000 a year. and that is if you are using the disposable diapers on the cheaper end of the scale. if you buy imported premium brands...... at least double that figure.

If you use disposables only at night time- one pack of 30 or so will last a month! - do the maths.
(you can find mima bear cloth nappies on facebook and instagram for more details - also have a thread on NL - detailed information on blogsite - naturalbabies.mimabear.com) yes i am plugging my product! Lol! grin

Food wise for your 7 month old - i see helovesme has posted link to my blog posts on what I did when i was weaning my baby, if your wife is breastfeeding as well , she can make 1 tin of formular last a month, incombination with a few cereal staples. yam and rice and other naija foods can be fed to a baby, it does not need to be cereal morning noon and night. for example i only gave cereals like cerelac, nutriben etc as breakfast! every other meal was a modification of what was on the household menu. that way you reduce the number of tins of baby cereal you need drastically which equals savings!

Children's clothing - how is this managed - do you always buy ready made imported items?? this could be more expensive than having a few items sewn, especially for housewears and play clothes. take a cue from sound of music - use your old curtains to make playclothes.... lol! just kidding lol! but seriously all those wads of unused aso-ebi ankara fabrics your wife may be hording - call aunti-Funke the tailor to arrange clothes for your kids. when we were growing up, our singlets and Chemise were always tailor made - if no one is going to see under your clothes why buy M&S for a child that wil out grow it in 2 months

Are your kids not going to school? what are their fees? how is this managed?

As for your giving - babythug has advised you cap this to N20K per month, i would say cap it to N20K every other month. Learn to Say No. the colleague that is asking for N80K, is surely a bad borrower as he is using peter to pay paul, YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK!

you cannot afford to give at this present time should be your standard motto. people will abuse your good nature if you are not careful. there is also nothing that says you MUST give the full amount that is requested, or do you think you are the only one they are asking? if they ask for 80 and you can offer to give only 10K, do just that, as they say every little helps. if they do not want it then they can decline, keep your money. never lend out an amount you cannot write off and alway cap the total monthly amount you lend out to be also something that you can manage financially.

Also I think you need to stop having kids, bro! you and your wife need to start shagging with protective measures and family planning in mind.

if your wife only earns 30K at the moment, she is really not contributing enough financially to the size of the household, as i am sure you do not see any of her earnings in the house hold bills. Not saying she has to, but it is either she is pulling her weight financially OR she is effiecient in using the resourses that you currently have.

Rather than handing out the 250K monthly to her, open a joint account with her and deposit the money in there, that way you have an eye on what is being spent and how much is left at the end of the month and it is easier to have a discussion, for instance if 50K is taken out of the account, sub-conciously either party knows they need to be able to account for that N50K.

Do you eat out at work? if so, calculate all the N500 a day you hand out to iya sikira for her her amala and ogufe, and realise what that adds up to in a month. if you only eat office lunch 3 times a week, in calandar month, that can easily amount to N7,000 a month. if you do 5 days a week .... that averages out to N11,000 a month.
you can easily do packed lunches to work and even packed breakfasts as well. if you keep a pack of cornflakes and milk and sugar in your desk at work, it means you are less likely to stop at mama ekaete's akara joint on your way to work. If your office has a micro wave it is even better as you, if not, you can lobby for them to have one. or use a good food flask.

Just a few suggestions,

But you need to discuss openly with your wife, a few people have said you should lie about your earnings.... if you start that where do you stop. also when she starts earning more and decised not to let you know you really cannot be upset then, because you laid the foundation. Your life is her life so she needs to be able to understand that. and you need to work together as a team. the spoils of this venture na the two of una go enjoy am. so all hands on deck!

Priceless200:

Mind sharing the vege sauce and fish recipe? Thank you

Lol! This was hubbys creation! But lemme try.

For the fish, he used teriyaki sauce to marinade the salmon and baked in the oven.
Teriyaki sauce was store bought. Check any asian food store or the asian food section of a well stocked supermarket.

For the vege sauce, it was chopped onions, carrots sweet peppers - green, red and yellow .

He basically stir- fried it. When the veges are cooked to your taste, mix some corn starch with some cold water and add to make it into a kind of thick gravy. ( for cornstarch - use a teaspoon at a time annd add more water or more cornstarch to reach the consistency you are happy with.

You can add a bit of chicken stock to the stir fry mix to introduce some liquid and extra flavour before adding the cornstarch mix

Ideally the finished sauce should evenly coat the back of your spoon and still drip off well.

Too thick and it will look like ogi.

Hope this helps

Take your leave, all of it, the full 6 weeks without remorse!

If they are unreasonable to move the deadline so you take it as a start to your maternity leave, take it now.

Some international companies may offer to buy some of your leave off you ( not sure naija companies will sha, they are too stingy) If they are unwilling to pay you in-lieu, take your leave and go and rest, relax, sleep well well.

Which agility is this woman still looking for! Walk round your compound oh jareh or take walks around your area to excercise, abi do you do courier work, or is your day job not desk based; arrange baby's room, do your baby shopping, wash all clothes and packyour hospital bag.

These are things you would have had to to around your job anyways. But you get the luxury of doing at your own pace when you get tired you drop everyhing and sleep.

Also ensure your iron levels are up. This could be the reason for the tiredness. So eat iron rich foods and take supplements if necessary.

When you even resume sef, your bump will be very big, you will only have about 4 weeks to work so they are unlikely to give you major projects to work on... but make e no concine you..

if you are still tired when you resume, get doctors note and take another 2 weeks off that you need to be on bed rest! Or let the doctor sign you of sick till you give birth.

This life is only one! If you forfeit your leave and you go and collapse in the office from exhaustion, who are you benefiting The office? They will only tell you "Eya Sorry! But you should have taken better care of yourself!"

I believe in giving your best at work and going over and beyond what is expected but if one's health is on the line.... F*&k it! My health and sanity comes first!

Saabi mamas. Good morning o. This thought has been bugging me lately and need advise on how to go about it. NO JUDGING PLEASE IF YOU GOT NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY JUST WAKA PASS.
In this type of environment and with our culture is it possible to raise a child 'genderless' i.e the child won't be referred to as either a boy or a girl till the child is of age to decide what he/she wants to be. I know it's gonna be tough, the child will be dressed in unisex outfit initially afterwards as the mother deems fit, will do whatever you the child wants or as the spirit directs. Do we think it's possible and won't backfire?

And the reason for this is

Was the child born with indeterminate sex and you want to wait till they are old enough to decide which of the sexes to retain?

Are you in nigeria? if you are.... eeeeeee go hard oh!
We are not that advance in that kinda thinking.

You will need to register a sex on the birth certificate and other identification documents, to register in schools at any age and I do not think you can legally re-asign sexes in nigeria.

How do you intend for the child to associate in school. Basic things like which toilets or changing rooms to use can cause a big issue, if they are neither male nor female. You also cause an identity issue which may cause long term psychological issue.

Plus Nigeria is notoroious for bullying such, let him/her not be called names like sisi-brother, he-she, IT and other derogatory name.

Also, when is old enough? In my opinion a child is still a child till you are 18 at least. So any decisions can be argued that they are not mature and not informed enough. Plus if you going to wait till the child is 18, you run the risk of major psychological issues, teenage years are hard enough when youare either a boy or a girl, it probably is best not to complicate things.

If You are thinking of asking a 7 year old if he wants to be a boy or a girl, this is ridiculous as they are unable to understand the gravity of such a decision.

My only advise is to pray for guidance, pick one sex as early as possible in infancy and leave it in God's hands.

If you are out of nigeria, in North America, and Western Europe then you may stand a chance. As those cultures are more accommodating.

If you are considering this for any other reason....
( sorry i cant help oh.... you need Jesus, such wisdom is beyond me.)

ok lemme talk my own small about this double moniker issue.

You can have two monikers there is nothing wrong with it, as least i know a few of us here bear different names, one at home, and one in school or work or whatever. whilst some people do that to have different personality outside the home or may be "ashamed" of their background, it will be unfair to say that EVERYONE who bears 2 or more names at the same time in different circles is dubious.

for Oga-madam in question: her past misfortunes may have been genuine, Only God really knows.
Her only crime could have been to open a new moniker because she felt the need to defend herself, however i would say, if you do not want people's opinion, DO NOT ASK FOR IT! because everyone's views are different, even when you do not ask people can still voice thier opinions talkless of when you now go and invite them to put mouth in your matter. Deal with your $h!t, you are an adult.

When you were outed, the best thing was to just come out and apologize, , it was an error in your judgement, however you decided to continue with the rouse of in-laws hacking, and someone out to tannish your image.

One BIL is trying to slay you, while one SIL is your Champion..... the whole storey get K-leg.

Please even if we are all small children here, for the fact that 99.9999999% of us have had a baby, or been pregnant, we are not idiots! So do not blame anyone if they are calling you scammer because it is you who have set the scene for that, do not blame anyone for not believing you. both past, present or in future as you have eroded that virtual trust most people here try to give one another, that we all have clean minds.

ok bye, its friday, lemme goan iron my dress for wedding tomorrow... groove mode activated..... oh i forgot, i am still at work! undecided

I want to rant right now..cos i'm so angry...

Petrol that I've been managing since..bought plenty fuel with my own hard earned money last week to fill the generator up on so it can last a while..

On my way out to work this morning (hubby had left the home earlier at 5:30), I just heard the familiar sound of our generator, I was wondering if its ours or our neighbours own, i decided to turn back and check the gen house. Lo and behold, a stupid neighbour of ours at the next flat, removed our gen wire and attached his own wire to our generator and switched it on. I mean, like what effontery is that.

I was so pissed and switched it off, and waited maybe he will come out to check. he did come out, looking like a fool, started apologising that his phone battery is dead and just wanted to power it on for some few minutes.. that he thought no one was at home, cos he wanted to ask us for permission. I've never been so angry in a long time..the guy just made me lose my cool. Me that was hot in the midnight and even my battery was low, we did not bother to switch on the gen.

To worsen the case, he was still begging me like a wretched beggar that he wanted to switch it on back just to power his phone back on for only few minutes cos its for something important. I'm at work just wondering if the idiot has switched it off yet or not.. I'd have waited for the few minutes, but I had someone waiting for me to take me to work.

How can people be so callous?? I'm hoping when i get back home the fuel is exhausted so he will see my red eye.. angry angry angry

Your neighbour is just a thief, do you leave the key in the gen? if it is in a public spot, always remove the key and keep inside the house. also even build a cabinet for your fuel jerrycans and lock it up. this neighbout can be removing one, one cup a day from your cans and you will not know.

I will suggest you call your electrician to coome and trace your electrical lines / wires in the entire hosue and make sure there is no additional hanky-pankyery, this type of neighbour can be tapping current from your house , both with nepa and gen .

It has happened to us before: one of our side neighbours that God is still punishing crawled into our adjoining roof space and was tapping light from ours!

Giddymama issa prophetess. The tornado landed today... cheesy and according to kelizosuy, we withstood it!

There are software that reveals page mentions anywhere on Internet if you have it installed not necessarily anyone sending a screenshot and in this age of social media and customers, you can expect her to have managers here since the business caters to nursing mothers.

Reading through those comments on IG really hurts sha knowing what transpired was not truthfully reported.

If you run a business here, endeavour to look at criticism as a means of feedback to understand what you may be missing out in serving your market.

I wish the owner of Nairaland (Seun) can do some modifications on this site so that similar issues under each topic can be grouped which makes searching easier for people to navigate.

In Hunniesuzie's voice Na wa! smiley

Lol! Plenty drama here today.

Rightly said!
Not every one will agree with you 100% of the time.
If any one is looking for total validation and acceptance, they will just kill themselves.
You cant please everyone, you are not Jesus, Even Jesus sef was crucified. So go figure!

Accepted, some criticism will be pure beef and unfounded, but others are constructive... one may not like the tone and expressions the some people use but it doesnt make it any less true.

We should all learn to look beyond the tone and sieve out the message.

pointless as she is going to end up deleting my questions, branding me a 'hater'/'ogi business rival' and blocking me. grin

lol! ha ha ha .... see me laughing in Chinese bad man voice!

Agreed there was at least 2 pages of discussion on that photcopying issue, the least she should have done is read in full rather than a tiny conversation snapshot that does not capture the full story.

In my opinion, it wasnt worth even posting on IG.... she has just given ideas to at least 10,000 of her xyz followers who had not even thought of photocopying the book before that it is an option! grin grin grin grin
