PoliticsRe: 10 Positive Things That Would Quickly Happen If Nigeria Restructures... by Amah70: 9:19pm On Jul 12, 2017
Trill2b:
10 positive things that would quickly happen if Nigeria restructures...

I had never been a fan of the restructuring debate mainly because I had not really thought much about it. However, the more I ruminate on it the more excited I get (since I choose to see the good in every situation).

Going back to the national structure of 1960 before the military did their work might not be a bad idea o. Stay with me...

If Nigeria restructures into regions/provinces (i.e Northern, Middle Belt, Western, Eastern and South-South) and the FCT, I see (predict?) 10 positive things that would happen in quick succession (primarily due to inter-province competition)...

1. The first province to experience economic explosion would obviously be the Western Province. The Odudua Master plan will be revealed. There would be trans-regional 4g internet fiber connection/rail/subways/highways/power grids etc. Yoruba will become the 2nd official language. They are relatively united. They have oil. They own academia. They have mega corporations. The WP would be the first to have stable 24/7 power supply! Foreign money will flood the province. More Forbes recognised billionaires will arise. Some of them will be internet billionaires. Lagos will be relieved a little from overpopulation as railway lines from other states will make living elsewhere and working in Lagos a breeze.

2. The Northern Province will have stronger islamic laws. Sharia will be entrenched and this will make the NP become the least corrupt province. The middle east (Arab) nations will move in to partner with them, bringing major development. Jaiz bank and Unity Bank will become mega banks. Arabic and Hausa will compete with English for dominance in schools. This province will generate more solar power than any other province. After the west, this province will be the 2nd to have 24/7 electricity. They will start exporting food as a major revenue generator.

3. The Middle Belt Province will have a development conference. Focus will be given to solid minerals development/exports, tourism development and food production/exports. This will become a food hub in West Africa. They will export more food than any other province. Mega mining and food corporations will arise. This province will have foreign inflows through tourism development greater than any other province. It will host the most beautiful places to live in Nigeria.

4. The Eastern Province will transform into the Auto Industry Hub of Africa. Indigenous manufacturing of vehicles that will start competing with foreign vehicles will commence in earnest. This will grow to manufacturing of aeroplanes, helicopters, tractors, cranes, heavy duty construction equipment etc. Forbes recognised billionaires living in Anambra will arise. The Biafra agitation will fizzle out since formation of the EP will be seen as a Biafra success in another form. There would be so much development that villages (as we currently know them) will quickly cease to exist. This province will be the first to semi-urbanize all their rural areas as all the Igbos living abroad will rush back to take advantage of the changes.

5. The South-South Province will take the Uyo blueprint and run with it. An abundance of oil wealth and opening up of major sea ports at Rivers and Uyo will enable this region to revamp their infrastructure quickly. There will be more monorails here than anywhere else. This will be the 3rd province to achieve 24/7 electricity generation in Nigeria (mainly from gas turbine technology).

6. With provincial security forces in control, kidnapping, Armed robbery, Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and the Niger delta militancy attacks will all fizzle out. Nigeria will become the most secure and peaceful African nation; thus attracting more foreigners.

7. Each Province will have their own airline professionally managed. And with better roads/rail, air and land transport costs will crash.

8. With the rapid development occurring all over, Nigerias GDP will shoot up. Obtaining visas to travel out will become easy as more people will want to come in than go out. A worldwide immigration into Nigeria will commence, as Nigerians living abroad will be struggling with foreigners to enter the country. ''Nigeria will become the most desirable Nation to live in"

9. The central government at the FCT will become smaller and less powerful. There will be a mini-exodus from Abuja to the provinces as the action is now elsewhere. The outskirts of Abuja will no longer be heavily overpopulated. Abuja will become awesome again.

10. The 10th positive thing that would quickly happen is?...

Sharing/Comments are welcome... cool
What a beautiful and fore sighted analysis.
If this political restructuring is done, Boko Haram will disappear.

Biafra agitation will disappear.

Militancy in the Niger delta will disappear.

Badoo in the SW will disappear.

Kidnapping and armed robbery and 419 shall be effectively policed.

But will the eaters from the present rotten political system from the east, west, north and south of Nigeria, with their international collaborators who also benefit from the chaos in Nigeria, agree to this restructuring?

.NB: I am a staunch believer in the agitation for restoration of Biafra.

PoliticsRe: Governor Okorocha Bans Igbo Traditional Leaders From Speaking English Language by Amah70: 6:18pm On Jul 11, 2017
Specialspesh:
Read below the press statement released by Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Governor Rochas Okorocha has banned traditional rulers in the State from speaking English at functions and in conducting affairs at their palaces and directed that they must talk in Igbo at functions and Conduct activities in their palaces in Igbo, adding that they Could employ the services of interpreters if the need arises.

Governor Okorocha gave the directive while handing over letters of recognition and staff of office to Nineteen (19) newly recognized traditional rulers in the State, adding that Igbo language must not be allowed to die as been predicted in some quarters.

The governor also told the traditional rulers in the State to be agents of peace, progress, and prosperity in their respective domain instead of being tools of disunity and destabilization, warning that any traditional ruler who could not show genuine leadership in his autonomous Community stands the risk of having his Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office withdrawn.

His words “Today, history is made that light has come and darkness would not comprehend at all. The truth has surfaced and the right people have finally become the Custodian of the traditional right of their people. You are not permitted to speak English at functions. This will help keep our Culture and Igbo language alive”.

He continued “For many years now, most of you have been looking for a day like this. Some of you were victims of injustice and never believed that this could be possible and most of you have been waiting without knowing your fate. But today, it is a manifest of truth that your people have chosen you, and the government of Imo State has approved”.

He further stated “I took the bold step of reconciling people, took the step to ensure that truth came to be and voided the rancour that has existed in our various communities over ezeship title. This has equally affected the Community Government Council (CGC) negatively because every community requires an Eze to function effectively as the head of the Community Government Council. Today, that responsibility has fallen on you, I urge you not to fail as failure is not an option. I encourage you to help the government in developing the resources of our land as posterity will only remember you for your positive contributions in the development of your community and not in how much wealth you enmassed as an eze”.

He added “Remember that to whom much is given much is expected. This whole exercise you must understand is not an election or appointment to enable you distinguish between those who love you and those who hate you. Today, you are an Eze, and you must be the Eze for everyone both those against you and those who were for you. I advise you to take all of them along and embrace peace. Your first assignment should be to invite those who were against you to make peace in your land as no Eze can function effectively if there is no peace in your land”.

He continued “Today, you join several Ezes in the Communities of Imo State. You are now addressed as royal fathers and members of Imo State Traditional Council which its right is given to you until death, unless you act in such a manner that you are found wanting before the members of this society”.

He explained that “The essence of Ezeship is not in the title of being called HRM or HRH, it’s in what you have been able to do to change your society for good. You have to understand that you have enormous responsibilities, Ezeship is not an easy job, it attracts enmity and takes all your time”.

In his vote of thanks, Eze Lucky Ajoku of Ihiagwa Autonomous Community, described the governor as an apostle of good conscience and equity and promised that they will embrace peace and help the government attain the lofty ideals of the Community Government Councils in their various communities.

The Ezes given their Staff of Office and letters of recognition are:
HRH D.E.C Onyebuagu - (Ibiasuegbe Autonomous (Oru West), HRH Ifeanyi Kenneth Aguneto - (Umueze/Abaza Ogwa (Mbaitolu), HRH Charles Anyakudo - (Ekwe (Isu LGA), HRH Ugo Ndubueze Donatus - (Umunokwu, Okwuato Aboh Mbaise), HRH Athanasius Ezekwe - (Enyiogugu), HRH James Nnamdi - (Ngurunweke Aboh Mbaise), HRH Francis Anukwu - (Avuvu Ancient Kingdom, Ikeduru), HRH J.C. In the last fours years, except during the 2015 elections, Okorocha has not stepped out from Owerri to any other local govt area in Imo state to perform any official development function.

Google it.
Imagine Okorocha talking about speaking Igbo, when he does not even care for the Igbos entrusted to his care, except the ones living in Owerri.

Last week, Okorocha told the heads of his Owerri City Schools to use cut-off marks to admit students..
Does that not mean that those students who can't make the cut-off marks be sent back to rest of Imo state which Okorocha officially declared as rural villages?

Okorocha works as Mayor of Owerri, not as governor of Imo state, since 2013.

Sudan and Ethiopia are not black Africans. That's where after a fight with little casualties, a referendum was agreed upon to settle.

But in black Nigeria, two million people have been killed over what could have been settled with simple referendum. Blackened Minds in Nigeria seem to be willing to kill more, instead of referendum.

It is people like her that have not left their villages and visited places that make mouth and just talk rubbish. Nothing even warranted such statement. I have been to nothing less than 24 states in Nigeria and aside Prolly Enugu, some parts of Onitsha, Owerri before you get to those FUTO side. Most parts of the east are just localised areas with poverty ravaged streets and undevelopment. Pass theough Orlu and see poverty with adjoining villages looking like ghost towns with old women on bicycles tying their kids legs to the spoke so they don't fall off while returning from the farm or is it market. I had a fellow corper also make mouth back then about their place being like London and i passed through the village once on my way to Calabar and the best building there was a market square built by Maryam Babaginda' Family support programme some 2 decades back. Umuahia with keke overrunning everywhere even the narrow roads leading to the Governor house is not spared with overlooking slums and whatnot.

So what point is she exactly trying to make?
U said pass through Orlu and see poverty with adjoining villages abandoned, old people tying children.....

That's is APC legacy in Imo State.

Before 2011, Orlu used to be a highly populated city with new banks opening nearly every six months since 2004.

APC came and built three dual carriage roads in Orlu totaling about 4km and said Orlu is now like a state capital. APC demolished existing infrastructure in Orlu, including , stadium, roads, etc. Large population emigrated to the state capital.

No more development infrastructure. No new banks, some banks even closed shop in Orlu since APC.

Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja

The President-General of Ndigbo apex organisation, Ohanaeze, Chief John Nwodo, on Friday, said despite the relentless agitation of youths from the South-East, the Igbo preferred restructuring of the country to total break-up.

A statement made available to journalists in Abuja quoted Nwodo as saying this while addressing a cross-section of Ndigbo leaders in Abuja on Thursday.

Nwodo reportedly told them that no ethnic group had more stakes in the Nigerian project than the Igbo and as such could not consider disintegration as a viable option.

The Ohanaeze leader said there was no part of the country where Ndigbo had not invested their resources, even without corresponding investment in Igboland.

He said while Ohanaeze understood and appreciated the circumstances that prompted the agitations for secession by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra, Igbo leaders did not consider secession as a reasonable option.

The statement read, “He (Nwodo) said that restructuring will bring Nigeria to a level where every person of any tribe, religion or class, would have a sense of belonging and in return, give their best for the development of the country.”

According to the statement, Nwodo was in Abuja to meet with critical stakeholders in the Igbo project to have their understanding and be on the same page with them.

Nwodo also announced that steps were being taken by the body to carry the youth of the region along and ensure that Igbo people have a common and unified position on the way forward.

He insisted that equal partnership, ownership and a level playing ground for all was the right way to go to getting the best out of people and setting the country on the path of growth and development.

Nwodo prefers restructuring to break-up of Nigeria.

......the above should have been the title of the story.

Nwodo needs to wait for another 100 years before Nigeria is politically restructured.

Truth is that millions of Igbos don't know Nwodo and his Ohaneze group.
