Career › Re: 10 African Countries With The Highest Minimum Wage by ambale(m): 11:30am On Mar 05, 2024
CharleyBright:
Nigeria's Minimum wage is far low compared to some of these African countries. Some people might want to argue that we should factor in the population of this countries as compared to Nigeria, that's a valid point too. But then, if we should fact in size of population then we can as well consider the size of the Civil service in each countries population. This will make a nonsense of the argument of population as the size of civil service in Nigeria is far lesser than other countries when compared to total population.
The total size of Nigeria's civil service is less than 2% of the entire population.
But in Nigeria, that less than 2% civil service population take up 65% of National budget. What that means is that 2% takes up 65% budget while 98% benefit from 35% indirectly in terms of infrastructures.

The problems associated with Nigeria's minimum wage are as followed:
1. Over bloated civil service ( a good percentage of the civil service are ghost workers). Right sizing of the civil service is what is obtainable in other countries.

2. Unproductive civil service. When a work force is productive it can generate funds to necessitate pay rise. Nigerian civil service is unproductive hence their low pay. In other climes, the civil service is highly productive and digitalized to ensure efficiency.

3. Highly skewed salary structure culminating in wage disparity or income gaps. The civil service structure is such that the huge chunk of the wages goes to a few at the top managerial positions while those at the bottom get peanuts. While members of Assembly as getting millions, the lower workers are paid less than 30k. In other countries wage disparity is almost minimal.
$20 to $400 in Seychelles, no argument here, we are not just didn't things the right way

fergie001:
Everything started from the day NLC publicly backed a Candidate.

In that interview last night, the TUC President boldly said they didn't attend any rally or back any Candidate. He also stressed that they sat with all political parties and that was how it ended.

Oshiomhole backed Tinubu for second term but it was subtle.

As long as those two are there, there will be no love lost, ironically, their (Ajaero & Tinubu) tenures end same year.

However, this FG is not sitting up, I will hope they reply with the part of agreement they have fulfilled.
So because they supported a candidate then they can't hold the president responsible?

Are you guys Nigerians or tinubu stooges?

Every Nigerian has the right to challenge the president, no be we put am dere

Now you see that these guys rig so heavily, so they don't see the people as employer, cos how can an employee openly abuse his employer repeatedly and stay on the job still

Hunger neva wipe them then, people are simply tired of government ni

djon78:
I disagree
Decentralization is a very big problem

Prof is very right

Look at electricity for example
States are not allowed to generate and distribute electricity

This has hampered electricity Development

Very many things need decentralization
Let each region cater to there needs

With small power at the centre
You will see massive Development of Nigeria

But if we continue with the present template
A point will reach the centre cannot hold again

Example look at the economy
It's getting out of hand
Things need to be addressed quickly
Do you really think an Average Nigerian politician is hoping to bring development to his people

They are all dere to chop money, if they really wanted decentralization it would have seen the light of the day for long
Politics › Re: "Let Nations Die That Humanity May Live": Soyinka Advocates Decentralisation by ambale(m): 10:00pm On Mar 01, 2024
Lerumo:
Decentralization is the starting point to solving the myriad of problems facing Nigeria. The current situation where most state governments do nothing to improve the economy of their states because they know that at the end of every month they will go to Abuja and collect money is the main source of corruption and ineptitude in the country today.
If true federalism is adopted by Nigeria, state governors will be more accountable as they will no longer be able to hide under the excuse of putting the blame of the lack of development on the federal govt.
They will find innovative ways to attract investment to there state or risk being left behind.
Until we start practicing true federalism, don’t expect any significant changes.
It will not change, we are a very corrupt people

We hate ourselves, so how does decentralization solve that
Politics › Re: FG Pays $120m From Gas Debts As Blackout Spreads by ambale(m): 9:57pm On Mar 01, 2024
OkutaNla:
No. Government is subsidizing power for Nigerians coz una no go wan pay the real cost of having stable power. Just like it was doing subsidizing fuel, government is also subsidizing power. That subsidy must go for us to enjoy stable electricity.
This is what you were told right?

Give us light, give us prepaid meter and block any channel for bypassing and see people pay their bills

It's that simple but here we are, after squandering monies, government go begin yarn dust

Imagine subsidizing 3 hours daily light

What foolery is that?
Politics › Re: "Let Nations Die That Humanity May Live": Soyinka Advocates Decentralisation by ambale(m): 6:36pm On Feb 29, 2024
Our problem is not decentralization, we have serious developmental issues, we can't even get the best hands to lead us

we have a jokers and corrupt individuals as a president, vice and senate president, and you think they would work for the best of the country

Dey play, majority of Nigerians can no longer hold reasonable conversations when it comes to politics, one part of you want the country to be great another part wants your tribesman there no matter how weak he might be

We need to tackle this fundamental issues, let's find a way Nigerians can believe in Nigeria, sport has proven to be a unifying factor but we are not even getting that right

Make God help the country ooo
