Smoking Shisha—Hookah Pipe is Haram | The Permanent committee of scholars said: Shisha pipes, hookah pipes, and smoking are from the evil things, and they are haram due to the harms upon the body and the wealth. Allah the Exalted said in describing His Prophet Muhammad SallallahuAlaihi waSallam : ❝He makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil.❞ (Soorah Al ‘Araf 7:157) And it has been authenticated from the Prophet SallallahuAlaihi waSallam that he said: ❝There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.❞ (Sunan Ibn Majah 2341) Thus it is not permissible to use these things, sell them, or to promote them, just as it is not permissible to open these shops, or attend these shops, or gatherings were they are present; except for the one who has the strength to give advice and to change the evil. This is based upon the statement of Allah the Exalted: ❝And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Quran) that when you hear the Verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them.❞ (Soorah An Nisa 4:140) And the statement of the Exalted: ❝And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversion.❞ (Soorah An An’am 6:68) Included in the general meaning of these two verses are the sinful, evil gatherings in which the commands of Allah and His prohibitions are belittled. Therefore whoever is present at these gatherings and does not criticize them then his sin is the same as theirs. A lot of folks criticising this man's submission are blaming the substance abuse on lack of education but I have a contrary view to this. The issue is that of moral decadence and poor parentage not illiteracy per se , I know a lot of educated folks across different ethnicities who are drug addicts. So, the argument of illiteracy doesn't hold much water as drug addiction is not fuelled by illiteracy but by supply and absence of good parentage. |

*Specifying the Month of Rajab for Worship – Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen* *Q:* What is the ruling on specifying the Month of Rajab for Umrah, or Fasting or any other righteous actions? And does it have a distinction over the rest of the Sacred Months? *A:* There is no distinction for the Month of Rajab over the rest of the Sacred Months, and it is not to be specified: Not for umrah, nor fasting , nor prayer and it with reciting of the Quraan, rather it is like the rest of the Sacred Months. And all the reported narrations regarding the virtue of prayer in it (Rajab), or fasting in it, indeed they are weak, and legislated ruling is not founded on it. ⚠ *"What are the signs of radicalization that I can spot in others so I can avoid it and advise them?"* *1)* He will constantly focus upon the political situation of the Muslim regimes in the Middle-East, and make that the centrepoint of his discussion as if it is the most important affair in Islam. *2)* He will abuse the Muslim rulers declaring them to be unbelievers and apostates; and then justify violent revolution in Muslim countries under the banner of “judgement is for Allāh!” A phrase misappropriated by the extremists and misused. *3)* He will praise the leaders of extremist ideologies such as Sayyid Qutb (died 1966). Qutb is revered by extremists all around the world from Ibn Laden to Anwar Al-Awlaki. He was a prominent leader of the Egyptian group, The Muslim Brotherhood. His writings are widespread and translated into dozens of languages including English. The US-born Yemeni terrorist, Anwar Al-Awlaki once boasted that he was so immersed in the writings of Sayyid Qutb that he felt the presence of Qutb with him in his prison cell! *4)* He will declare all Muslims who contradict his political world-view as unbelievers. *5)* He will quite often glorify the acts of violence perpetrated by terrorists whether it be suicide bombings, beheading of hostages, killing of non-Muslims, kidnappings, etc. You will not hear condemnation of violent extremism or its figureheads from him." ✍ By Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Wahid |
Vladimir Putin has given his annual speech to the Federation Council, surprisingly arranging it not in the Kremlin but at Moscow’s Central Exhibition Hall. In his speech, he addressed numerous vital aspects of life in Russia, setting the goals and priorities for the upcoming years. Those principles included the strengthening of democratic institutions; development and investment in Russia’s far east and its infrastructure; improving work and life conditions to stop the brain drain and attract talent from abroad; and investing in and developing new technologies. The audience was made to wait for Putin’s take on Russia’s international agenda, with many surprised at how much was said regarding domestic affairs. The president then finally proceeded with his foreign agenda, and the reason why the event was arranged in the Central Exhibition Hall became obvious: Kremlin’s hall does not have the same capacity for presentations. “They did not listen to us. So listen to us now,” he said, addressing the West. This phrase inaugurated Russia’s new way of acting: It is fed up with oppression and humiliation, and it will not repeat old mantras that the US threatens Russia’s security, violates existing bilateral agreements, spreads NATO troops to Russia’s borders and keeps nuclear arsenals in Europe. Those polite indications on the numerous violations have not worked, so Russia is changing the discourse. It does not care anymore what the West has and what it does, instead the West should care about what Russia has. It is a kind of diplomacy on the one hand, and the launch of arms race 2.0 on the other, taking into account who sits in the White House. Putin unveiled a range of ballistic missiles and weapons capable of carrying nuclear warheads that could reach anywhere in the world without being intercepted. However, more important was what the Russian president, who showed a video on a huge screen in the hall including a review of the missiles, said: That Russia would consider any nuclear attack on its allies an attack on Moscow and would respond without hesitation. This is the first time that Putin has appeared defiant, threatening and reinforcing his threats with modern weapons and long-range ballistic missiles, since taking power. In all my articles regarding the West’s approaches toward Russia, I have pointed out how they are generally counterproductive. You can beat a bear until a certain moment, then it stops feeling pain and becomes unstoppable. So here we go. “You’d better talk,” instead of beating. Meanwhile, the risks of a nuclear clash are extremely high — not because of a chance that Russia will use its new weapons (it will not, unless it is targeted), but because in Washington there are too many hawkish hotheads. Moreover, for the US, it is much cheaper to launch a pre-emptive strike than to build elaborate new defense systems. The option to launch talks and discuss new deals doesn’t seem to be on the table in the US these days. The key message of the speech — Russia is no longer afraid — was, despite all expectations, first addressed to the citizens. It was the most powerful message Putin could deliver just 18 days before the first round of presidential elections. But it is certain as well that this message was addressed to the US and to the West in general. The intelligence reports of last month’s Munich Scurity Confere nce painted a gloomy picture of the growing US-Russian conflict in three key theaters — North Korea, Iran and Syria — and the reckless Washington policies t hat are taking the world to the brink. The speech was given extra meaning as Russian Security Council official Gen. Alexander Venediktov revealed that there were 20 US military bases in areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces in north-west Syria. Russia fears attacks by armed extremist groups targeting its naval base in Tartus and air base in Hmeimim. The first warning in this regard was an attempted attack by an unmanned drone, which targeted the latter with advanced missiles in January. President Donald Trump is fuelling fires of tension around the world, and is expected to cancel the nuclear agreement with Iran in the next few months, just as the US cancelled the missile treaty with Russia in 2001. Russia has regained most of its strength and has become a superpower again. The world has to listen to Moscow. Putin’s strong, unprecedented speech reflects his self- confidence, which is built on a highly developed military capability. This constitutes the inauguration of a new stage of global leadership, proving that Russia is no longer the country that was ruled by Gorbachev, the Perestroika man. Neither is it the country of Yeltsin, who broke up the Soviet Union for the sake of the West. Russia today is not the same nation that approved the invasion of Iraq in 1991. This is a new Russia, and sanctions, international pressure and previous Western actions have made it what it is today. http://www.arabnews.com/node/1258941 |

Umar on interacting with others [trust, consultation and friendship] It is reported that ‘Umar b. Al-Khattâb – Allâh be pleased with him – said: Whoever exposes himself to suspicion, let him blame only himself for whoever suspects him. He who covers his secret is in a position to choose [to correct himself]. Assume the best about your brother until what comes to you from him overcomes you [and you have to change your opinion]. You can never pay back someone who disobeys Allâh in his dealings with you with anything better than obeying Allâh in your dealings with him. Take righteous brothers [as friends]; acquire them in plenty, for they are a beautification in prosperity and an aid during calamity. Do not ask about what has not yet happened until it actually happens, for what has happened is enough of an occupation to worry about what has not happened. Let not your speech be given freely except to those who want to hear it and will value it. Do not seek help in fulfilling a need you have except from someone who wants success for you in that endeavor. Do not consult except people who fear Allâh, and do not accompany the sinner, [lest] you learn his sinfulness. And be humble at the graves. Delving into an issue which no Imam has preceded in Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah -Rahimahullaah- said: » وكل قول ينفرد به المتأخر عن المتقدمين ، ولم يسبقه إليه أحد ؛ فإنه يكون خطأ ، كما قال الإمام أحمد : إياك أن تتكلم في مسألة ليس لك فيها إمام« ‘Every opinion, which a person who comes later stands alone with and not with those who have preceded. And no one has preceded him in that opinion, then that opinion is wrong. As Imam Ahmad said: ‘Beware of entering into an issue in which you do not have an Imam who has preceded you in it.’ [Majmoo al-Fatawa 21/291] Shaykh Rabee bin Hadi al-Madkhali was asked: Question: Is it conditional that every issue has for it someone who has preceded❓ The Shaykh answered: ‘Yes, this is the foundation in matters of the Deen, that it is necessary that a person has someone who has preceded him. In the matters of Aqeedah and matters of Manhaj it is necessary that a person has someone who has preceded him. The speech of Imam Ahmad -Rahimahullaah- regarding this is well known: إيّاك أن تتكلم في مسألة ليس لك فيها إمام ‘Beware of entering into an issue in which you do not have an Imam who has preceded you in it.’ Therefore, the issues of the Deen are based upon following and not about innovating. They are based upon the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam and what the Companions of Muhammad alayhi as-Salat wa sallam were upon. When the Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned the doomed sects and the saved sect, the Companions asked which is the saved sect❓ He said, ( ما أنا عليه وأصحابي ) ‘What I am upon and my Companions.’ The Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam said, من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردّ ‘Whoever innovates into this matter [Deen] of ours, which is not from it, then it is rejected.’ Allaah Ta’ala said: أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاء شَرَعُوا لَهُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَن بِهِ اللَّهُ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ الْفَصْلِ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 《 Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed. And had it not been for a decisive Word (gone forth already), the matter would have been judged between them. And verily, for the wrong-doers, there is a painful torment. 》 [Shu’ara:21] So, from this starting point the Imams of the Salaf battled against all types Bida in worship, in beliefs and methodologies. Who were the Sabeans (As-Sābi’ah) mentioned in the Qur’ān: ﺇِﻥَّ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﺁﻣَﻨُﻮﺍ ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﻫَﺎﺩُﻭﺍ ﻭَﺍﻟﻨَّﺼَﺎﺭَﻯٰ ﻭَﺍﻟﺼَّﺎﺑِﺌِﻴﻦَ ﻣَﻦْ ﺁﻣَﻦَ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠَّﻪِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﻴَﻮْﻡِ ﺍﻟْﺂﺧِﺮِ ﻭَﻋَﻤِﻞَ ﺻَﺎﻟِﺤًﺎ ﻓَﻠَﻬُﻢْ ﺃَﺟْﺮُﻫُﻢْ ﻋِﻨﺪَ ﺭَﺑِّﻬِﻢْ ﻭَﻟَﺎ ﺧَﻮْﻑٌ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻬِﻢْ ﻭَﻟَﺎ ﻫُﻢْ ﻳَﺤْﺰَﻧُﻮﻥَ Al-Baqarah 2:62: “Those who believe in Muhammad, and also the Jews, Christians and Sabeans from previous times who believed in Allāh and the Last Day, and they worked righteous deeds, for all of them is reward from their Lord. They shall not fear what is to come once they die, and they shall not grieve over what they have left behind.” Regarding the Sabeans, Ibn Al-Qayyim stated, “The Sabeans are an ancient people who preceded the Jews and Christians… They were not Jews, Christians or Magians. They were two factions: The monotheistic Sabeans and the idolatrous Sabeans. So it is the monotheists who were the saved-ones among them. And between the two factions, there were disputes and refutations. They were the people of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) just as the Jews were the people of Moses (peace be upon him). And the monotheists of the Sabeans were Abraham’s followers.” (See Ahkām Ahludh-Dhimmah, 1/98) A word on the Magians (Al-Majoos ) Allah stated: ﺇِﻥَّ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﺁﻣَﻨُﻮﺍ ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﻫَﺎﺩُﻭﺍ ﻭَﺍﻟﺼَّﺎﺑِﺌِﻴﻦَ ﻭَﺍﻟﻨَّﺼَﺎﺭَﻯ ﻭَﺍﻟْﻤَﺠُﻮﺱَ ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﺃَﺷْﺮَﻛُﻮﺍ ﺇِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪَ ﻳَﻔْﺼِﻞُ ﺑَﻴْﻨَﻬُﻢْ ﻳَﻮْﻡَ ﺍﻟْﻘِﻴَﺎﻣَﺔِ ﺇِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪَ ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﻛُﻞِّ ﺷَﻲْﺀٍ ﺷَﻬِﻴﺪٌ “Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated partners with Allah in worship, then Allah will judge between them all on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allah is, over all things, a witness.” (22:17) Ibn al-Qayyim makes the point in Ahkām Ahludh-Dhimmah (1/99) that in general, the Sabeans were better than the Magians. The Magians or Zoroastrians (Arabic: Al-Majoos ), in terms of religion, are worse than the Jews, Christians and Sabeans – indeed they are the worst of cultures in terms of religion. They have no adherence to any revealed book nor affiliation to a revealed religion. For this reason, when the Persians defeated the Romans (i.e. the Christian Byzantines) at the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the idolators of Makkah rejoiced at the victory of the Persian Magians, because they were similar to them. The Makkans also were not people of any revealed scripture (just like the Persian-Magians), and so they behaved wickedly towards the Muslims of Makkah. Later, when the Romans defeated the Persians, the Muslims rejoiced because the Christians are closer to the Muslims than the Magians due to the fact that the Christians have a revealed book. The Magians believe in the concept of dual deities (gods) or supreme forces which oppose each other. Their god, Ahura Mazda, “existed in light and goodness above, while the god of evil, Angra Mainyu, “existed in darkness and ignorance below.” They have existed independently of each other for all time, and make themselves manifest in opposing materials. Zoroastrianism appeared in Iran (Persia) at around the 6th Century BCE, and Zoroastrians (Magians) worship in the presence of some form of fire because they consider it a medium through which spiritual insight and wisdom are attained – and water is treated in much the same way. For this reason, they are often referred to as ‘fire-worshippers” and they were renowned for their building of temples of fire. They have survived until this time and live mostly in India and Iran. Note : So long as the people from previous times worshipped Allāh alone without falling into polytheistic practices, and they submitted to the Revelation sent to them and they believed in the Last Day, then Allāh counts them as believers and rewards them on that basis. After the sending of the Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Allāh revealed without ambiguity, “Whoever desires a religion other than Islām, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter, he will be among the losers.” (Qur’an 3:85) http://www.abukhadeejah.com/who-were-the-sabeans-as-sabiah-mentioned-in-the-quran-along-with-the-jews-and-christians/ |
Committing Shirk is the Greatest Sin Translated & Compiled by Abbas Abu Yahya A Definition of Shirk: From Abdullaah bin Mas’ood who said: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺَ :أَيُّ الذَّنْبِ أَعْظَمُ ؟ ‘I asked the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ which is the greatest sin?’ He said: أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ ‘That you place a partner with Allaah while He is the One who created you.’ [Collected by Bukhari & Muslim] 1 – Shirk is the greatest Oppression Allaah Ta’ala said: إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ 《 Verily! Joining others in worship with Allaah is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed.》[Luqman:13] 2 – Allaah does not forgive the one who does not repent from Committing Shirk Allaah Ta’ala said: {إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا} Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allaah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.》[Nisa:48] 3 – Paradise is forbidden for the one who dies upon Shirk Allaah Ta’ala said: إِنَّهُ مَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّة وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنْصَارٍ 《 Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) there are no helpers.》 [Maidah: 72] 4 – Committing Shirk negates all Good Actions Allaah Ta’ala said : {وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ} 《 But if they had joined in worship others with Allaah, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them.》 [An’aam:88] Allaah Ta’ala said: {وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ} 《 And indeed it has been revealed to you, as it was to those (Allaah’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with Allaah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.’》 [Zumar:65] 5 – The Worst of the Major Sins From Abu Bakr -RadhiAllaahu anhu- who said that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ ؟ ‘Shall I not inform you of the worst of the major sins?’ – three times. We said yes of course O Messenger of Allaah. The Messenger ﷺ said: ‘الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاَللَّهِ ، وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ. . . ‘ ‘Associating partners with Allaah and disobedience to parents. . .’ [Collected by Bukhari and Muslim] http://www.miraathpubs.net/en/committing-shirk-is-the-greatest-sin/ |
