page5: Reading through this thread,

All I can see with this generation is division, division and division.

I am indeed afraid for the future of my dear country.

I really don't care which part of Nigeria you come from, any suspected criminal, should be investigated and if found guilty, should be brought to book.

The 2 major reasons behind our backwardness and under-development is TRIBALISM AND RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS.

Every issue in this nation is now viewed and coloured by religious or tribal considerations.

Objectivity, logic and dispassionate analysis of issues is far becoming rare these days.

As a southwesterner, I have had far better and more trustworthy friends from east and north than some of my kinsmen and it could be vice-versa.

I am willing and ready to vote for any Nigerian from any part of this country that van demonstrate his capability to take nogeria away from this slippery-slope we have been in for decades now. I don't believe there is any difference between all the present political parties be it APC or PDP.

I will gladly be happy to see any corrupt general or politician who has been found to have amazed wealth illegally sent to jail whether he is from Yoruba, igbo etc.

Politicians have continuously use the religious and tribal sentiments to divide us because we refuse to learn.

When they share money and positions, they don't talk about religion tribes.

The future of Nigeria will continue to be bleak as long as we don't think and act like one nation.

We will not move forward, if all we consider is tribe or religion.

We should all remember that bad governance result in poverty, unemployment, etc . These vices do not have preference for any tribe or religion.
I wish I could lyk ur comment 200 times. Very well spoken sir.

Most of you shouting satire don't even know d meaning.

Satire - a literary technique of writing or art which principally ridicules its subject often as an intended means of provoking change. Humour is often used to aid this.

Now, the writer is trying to advocate a change in the treatment of females, with an underlying message of gender equality.

In asmuch as I believe that to some extent, women have had it really bad in Nigeria, particulary as regards rape, sexual harassments and some obnoxious cultural practices, this recent propaganda being advocated by some acclaimed 'feminists' isn't just right.
These ppl are practically clamouring for a total overhauling of gender roles. A man must cook, clean d house, take care of the children, go to d market etc. If they had their ways, they'd even want the man to somehow carry the child in his belly.
Its really saddening to see how these strange ideas are gaining acceptance.
My mum who wasn't infected with these ideas has been married to my dad for well over 32 years, and mind you, she was nd still is a working class lady in a top international agency. Somehow, she still managed to balance her work and her family.
But what do these feminists teach you? They make it look as if its almost impossible for a woman to balance both. No way, ur husband must come back early from work and take care of the children. He must go to the market. Why should I cook, doesn't he have hands? Why should I be submissive to my husband?
The result is dat divorce rates are rising daily. Women av chosen not to be women anymore, nd now want to be men. Somehow, dats wat gender equality means to them.

I'm saying dis unapologetically, but I would do evrything the Op wrote. I would wear my daughters pink clothes nd oda bright colours.
My wife would teach my daughters to be proper ladies. They would learn how to cook and learn how to take care of a home. They would learn how to sit properly, speak properly and eat properly as a proper lady would do.
Lastly and most importantly, they would learn how to be independent and strive towards achieving their careers.

And before u ppl crucify me, I'd teach my sons to also work hard, to assist their sisters in taking care of d house and most importantly, to respect females.

Enough of this madness.
