PoliticsRe: Utomi Joins Presidential Race by AndreUweh(m): 11:09pm On Sep 24, 2010
Pat Utomi is a proud Igbo. Ndigbo are proud of him. His identity is not questionable. Last four years, The highest Igbo elite organisation-Aka Ikenga voted en-masse to support Utomi's presidential ambition.
Utomi is one of the most honoured and decorated man in Igboland.
Amongst all the presidential contestants so far, Utomi is the best candidate. But in Nigeria, there have never been any time that the best candidate won. What a shame.

Ohakim picks form for 2011 governorship race

EMMA OGU, Owerri

Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo state has picked a form for the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2011 Imo governorship race.
He has also submitted the form at the partys secretariat on Okigwe road, Owerri.
It could not be confirmed at press time if any other aspirant has purchased the form to challenge Ohakim in the poll.
However, unconfirmed reports said Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had also picked a form.
Ohakim was quoted in a statement by his chief press secretary, Mr. Henry Ekpe as saying that he was seeking to serve the people of the state for another term of four years, pointing out that he has nothing to do with the issue of waiver by the party.
I want to state here that I have come here to submit my form to run for a second term as the governor of Imo state. Waiver or no waiver has nothing to do with me.
The statement said Ohakim will formally declare on September 28, at Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri.
I will speak on September 28, 2010. That is the day I will tell Imo people I am running for a second term. Others have been speaking but that day I will speak, he said.
On the issue of PDP executive in the state, Ohakim said Imo PDP has only one executive led by Prince Marcon Nlemigbo.
There is no problem in Imo people. You can see everybody here happy and smiling. There are no bottles or stones flying about. Imo PDP is in peace. If some people stormed out of the party, they also have the right to storm back, he said.

It does not matter, what we are saying is that there should be balance of states in all the geo-political zones.

PoliticsRe: 2011: Is President Goodluck Taking The S.east Slot? by AndreUweh(m): 11:50pm On Sep 20, 2010
mens dept:
At first reading, I was going to just abuse you. But then, you do raise some interesting issues here.

1) The relationship between the "SS" and Igboland
2) The relationship between "SS" Igbo and "SE" Igbo
3) The relationship between Igbo and Nigeria
4) The true ethnicity of GEJ and its importance (if that matters)

If GEJ does win, he very well could "assume" the slot of the "EAST". Imagine if Fmr Gov Odili was Yar Adua's VP and took over, what would peeps say?

Or he could simply be the "SS" man, and then the "SE" will again fight for the slot.

When there was talk of creating another state in the SE, Anioma was proposed, but of course, YEYE politicians like Iwuanyanwu were looking at their pockets and said no-that it was a state for the "SS", so if and when GEJ runs and possibly wins, Naija will again have to examine some of these issues you raised.
Stop insulting Iwuanyanwu. He is entitled to his own opinion. Why not talk about the 1991 Ohanaeze demand of Anioma state that was led by Akanu Ibiam?. Ol boy, wetin do you?.

Can't hate the fulani's. They are a small efficient group that understand the art of domination and power. They have been conquering people for a long time, so they understand how to make a life for themselves in a foreign land. The Hausa's first need to shake them off so they can represent their own interests. As for Ilorin, the sins of the father(Afonja), has followed the generations.Let them wake up and sort themselves out.If they know what is good for them, they better crawl back to Oyo and beg.or else, na perpetual iya.

Cute500:
Andre dont be so naive. The names u listed out are muslim names, and ofcourse there are thousands of muslims in nigeria, so they are allowed to name their children according to the islamic rites.
You guys are the ones that are naive. Most of the names listed as funny names are christian names e.g Praise-What is funny to call someone praise God, shortened to praise. Success-God has brought success to my life, Josephat etc are all christian names and goes a long way to show ones christian belief and up-bringing. More funny names are:
Nurudeen.
Zubier or Zubaru
Maleek
Taofeek
Ahmed
Lukman
ETC.
CultureRe: Nigerian Names: How Funny Is Yours? by AndreUweh(m): 1:05am On Sep 19, 2010
You guys should also be worried about non-Nigerian names such as :
Hassan
Abdul.
Kasrim.
Kassim.
Yusuf.
Idris.
Waheed
Habiba.
Teslim.
Hakeem.
Mustapha
Jelili
And other useless mid-east names that means nothing in Nigerian culture.

I was going to say that they are delusional, but reading things like this,

it becomes clear that the real problem is that these people have extremely low standards and are not aware of the rapid pace at which the rest of developed and developing world is passing us by; they are not even deceiving themselves, they are just mediocre and ignorant, undecided
Growth rate may be sloppy, but that does not mean Nigeria has not made any progress since independence.
PoliticsRe: @50, Nigeria Has Not Done Too Badly. by AndreUweh(op): 10:17pm On Sep 18, 2010
In the early days of independence, Nigeria and South Korea were at per in Economic development, since then, the duo can not be weighed in the same scale.
Nevertheless, Nigeria has not done too badly.
Opinions please.
