CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by AndreUweh(m): 1:07am On Dec 18, 2012
@One-Naira, you are right. Mr Okocha was going for the same position Uwechue was going for. At some point he stepped outside for Uwechue-who was vastly supported by almost all the Obis in Anioma.
On Anukwu, he was the head of the Biafran navy. If he wasn't Igbo, would he ever come to fight for Ndigbo.
Agbontaen has failed since his first post.
CultureRe: Yoruba In Anioma - A Revealed Truth! by AndreUweh(m): 11:12pm On Dec 17, 2012
Until now, he does not believe in anything ANIOMA OR Delta Igbo. If an Anioma son is made a governor of Delta state today, he will not rejoice unless the man is from Ika.
He belives that there is no need for Anioma, but Ikas should be on their own.
He always praises people who fought agains Biafra as well as his praises for those who carried out the massacre of western Igbo people during the war. This is where he differs from his mentor-Kunirum Ossia.
The man is a disgrace to Anioma people.
PoliticsRe: Alaafin Tackles Ooni On Yoruba History by AndreUweh(m): 10:53pm On Dec 17, 2012
Dudu_Negro: the Aare position is a political one and the appointment is madeby Alaafin.
It is the most superior Oba in Yorubaland confers this title to individuals. That Oba is the Alafin of Oyo.

PoliticsRe: Alaafin Tackles Ooni On Yoruba History by AndreUweh(m): 10:18pm On Dec 17, 2012
Which Yoruba Oba appoints the Are ona Kakanfo?. Surely not Ife. The one who appoints this great commander of the yoruba nation will give you a clue of who is more superior in Yorubaland.
As Shymex said earlier, all the Obas should stick to their domains. The Oyo monarch has always not been interested in intervening in other peoples' affairs. Yet it is the Ooni who goes about instigating troubles in Oyo state. Imagine the Ooni pushing the Ogbomosho monarch and the Olubadan to share powers with Alafin in Oyo state while in Osun state, no one shares powers with him.
It's high time Aregbesola suspends the Ooni or call him to order.
PoliticsRe: Alaafin Tackles Ooni On Yoruba History by AndreUweh(m): 10:11pm On Dec 17, 2012
shymexx: Hmmm.... Interesting read... However, I think this is a case of two people with big egos - they need to sort this out amicably... Ife is undeniably the spiritual home of Yoruba people but since the Ooni of Ife isn't from the direct lineage of Oduduwa and Yoruba kingship is hereditary - it can also be argued that the Ooni of Ife is an "illegitimate" King and he has no dominion whatsoever over the race(except for Ife)... And the Oyo's superiority died a long time ago...

All the Yoruba Kings should be allowed to rule over their respective kingdoms - without superiority and dyck waving contest IMO..

I'll like to hear what the Ife dialect sounds like - anyone with a youtube link can post it...

The Ijebu dialect sounds different as well... However, Egba and Ibadan dialects sound more like the general Yoruba albeit still different especially the way they enunciate certain words...
Well said.
CultureRe: Cultural places/events to visit/do during vacation by AndreUweh(m): 9:31pm On Dec 17, 2012
The war museum in Umuahia, Abia state should be your first port of call. The museum houses ancient Igbo relics as well as ancient Igbo war equipments.
The Ibinu Ukpabi at Arochukwu, the great oracle that was feared by all in the old east.
Palace of the Eze Nri, here you will found documents and ancient Igbo chronicles of the Nri Kingship since 1000 years ago.
No 7 Park avenue Enugu. The secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is situated here Here, there is an abundant information about Ndigbo during the slavery era, Ndigbo during the pre-colonial times as well as the colonial times. For more on the Aba women's riot, the coal miners demonstration, the names of all the Igbo involved in building the railway terminus in PH and Enugu.
There are also the great monuments at Nsugbe, Akwete weaving centre, the birth place of King Jaja, the palace of ASAGBA of Asaba, the source of Imo River near Okigwe (stone), Iwa Oji Mbaise, Anara festival Isiala Mbano, Okonko festival, Umuderim, Isinweke (my part of Igboland).
more to come soon.

Nice to see the South west moving forward. It's high time.
PoliticsRe: The "DAWN" Of A New Horizon For Yorubaland by AndreUweh(m): 1:30pm On Dec 15, 2012
PapaBrowne: I am happy that the south west is waking up and this should happen faster than it has.

If you remove Lagos, which I usually don't classify as South West(It is the Center of Nigeria), the rest of the south west hasn't moved an inch since the demise of Awolowo.

No Southwest state can be described as making real progress. The infrstructure is horrible. The cities are stuck in the 40s. There is virtually no industrial or commercial base. Absolutely nothing happening. Ibadan is a sad place. Abeokuta is the same forever. Osogbo & Ogbomosho- God have mercy on these places. Ado Ekiti- a sad example of Zero progress.
Ile Ife with all the academics should have been a center of yoruba civilization, but it is still a very rural town.
Its only Akure that has some semblance of progress.
You would have taught these state would take advantage of thier proximity to Lagos, but no its the other way round.

Compare these to the South South or even the South East. The south south we understand has oil but even places without oil have made progress. See what happened to Calabar. It leapfrogged from a sleepy place to one of the most attractivee Urbans in the country without oil revenues. South south cities like Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo, Benin City, Warri, Asaba have made a more remarkably better progress than all the South West cities. To put things in perspective, all the cities I mentioned have very functional Airports, the smallest of which(Uyo) has more passenger traffic than all the five states of the southwest combined.

The South East has an industrial and commercial base which is born naturally out of the entrepreneurial spirit of the South Easterners. Infact, Onitsha which is about 500km away trades with Lagos more than 5 times the volumes that Ibadan, a larger city and just 150km away does. Also more passengers fly out of Enugu than all the airports in the south west combined.

These statistics are not good. The south west has to wake up and go back to its glorious days. I'm happy with the new dawn. It has potential if it is implemented properly. But I think south westerners should harness the opportunities that come with their proximity to Lagos, Nigeria's center and power house. Other states are doing this excellently.

A good example is the media sector. South Southerners have taken advantage of the excellent business environment that Lagos provides and establiushed the best media houses the country has. A little rundown:
AIT- Raymond Dokpesi (Edo)
Channels- John Momoh (Edo)
SilverBird- Ben Bruce (Bayelsa)
Thisday - Nduka Obiagbena(Delta)
Guardian- Alex Ibru(Delta)
Vanguard- Sam Amuka(Delta)
Ovation- Dele Momodu(Edo)

The list is endless. And my point is simple. The south west states should take advantage of the benefit Lagos provides and develop a base for themselves as against the current situation where Lagoss virtually sucks life out of all these states.
Nice one.

No, just type the coordinates into Google directly or google maps on your phone,
Voila, you get the location - the street, the top of the house etc
The police can take it from there, armed with the pictures grin
Find iPhone app does a similar job. Anyway, thanks for the idea.
