sheyguy: Scam thread! Scam thread!! Scam thread!!!
Give us source, a reference material, don't tell me it has been on the net or it suddenly jumped from no where in the public domain. Give us a source please.

Now forever keep calm.

sheyguy: Must you make every thread a Yoruba vs Igbo thread? You did not have to mention Yoruba at all, atleast for the avoidance of trouble. Btw, my original question still remains . . . Source?
I couldn't use Hausa because I do not know any Hausa socio cultural group nor any Hausa militant group.
I have to use a place I grew up and have familiarity than a place I don't know.
In this case, you will get a source first that Afenifere or Opc do not use yoruba as a means of deliberation.
PoliticsRe: The Ekumeku Resistance 1897-1914 by AndreUweh(m): 7:23pm On Oct 28, 2012
sheyguy: Why didn't u use the North were hausa is more of an official language or use another example? As i said before, Source please? I am waiting.
Before I use the north, tell me if a sane person will require a source to prove that OPC and Afenifere use yoruba language for deliberations.
PoliticsRe: The Ekumeku Resistance 1897-1914 by AndreUweh(m): 7:08pm On Oct 28, 2012
sheyguy: Yoruba is not the Opposite of Igbo.
Did I say Yoruba is the opposite of Igbo.
If OPC or Afenifere are having a meeting, only an insane person will ask what language they use in their deliberation.
I don't really understand your logic here. Quit the thread if you have nothing useful to say. Are you suggesting that am wrong by claiming that these Igbo warriors saw one another as Igbo, spoke Igbo to one another and Igbo language used in their plan and execution of the war.
Do you need to buy a brain to understand what I mean?.

It's so interesting seeing almost all the traditional rulers of Delta Igbo at the last Igbo day celebration in Asaba organised by Ohanaeze.
There is hope.

A group may initiate it but it has to be backed up by a country.
As it is now, if an individual or group takes the initiative, the F.G will be reluntact to back them up.
Surely, Gowon deserves to face criminal charges at the Hague.

What sort of source?. If I suggest that Afenifere or OPC members use yoruba language as a means of discussion, whould any sane person ask for a source?.
PoliticsRe: The Ekumeku Resistance 1897-1914 by AndreUweh(m): 2:38pm On Oct 28, 2012
Igbo language was used in the organisation of this war. The warriors all spoke Igbo and never saw each other as Ika or Ukwuani.
It's a pity some of the grand children of these warriors have brought division and denial into what held us together-Igbo.
TOO SAD.

Has he forgotten Ojukwu never wanted secession in the first place? Has he forgotten that the FG committed a collossal human rights violations against the Igbos? What about Ojukwu's repeated pleads regarding the pogrom in the North, did he do anything? This man is a lost soul, with no conscienceundecided
The main problem with ICJ in Hague is that individuals cannot drag someone to the court there. Nigerian govt has to do that but they will never do it. Gowon knows it that is why he is saying that he is ready to face ICJ. What a clown.

He obviously chickened out and preferred complaining about his handsomeness in the Romance Section. Check his profile you'll see the thread (he's the OP) grin

Anyways its nice to have you back. Look forward to seeing your debate one of these days.

Sometimes it doesn't worthy it replying a lot of fools here.
For those who do not know this yet as a lot of them here do not know, Azikiwe just like any other Igbo was affected by the pogrom in the north and Gov Katsina's inactivity to stop the pogrom. Based on what happened to Ndigbo, every Igbo then felt there was no hope in Nigeria. Azikiwe only changed his mind when he saw that the war was not winable and the starvention that had decimated the young population in Igboland. He wanted the war to stop.

Thanks for the correction, however a country with about 99.9% people sharing the same faith and a small minority as you have mentioned should have been better off a country like Nigeria with 50.4% Muslims, 48.2% Christians and 1.4% adherents of other religions and over 200 tribes.
As I wrote earlier on, amalgamation was bound to happen as a result of the inter group relations that existed in what is now Nigeria. It was a no surprise that Lugard will cease this advangage to almagamate Nigeria.

Emir of Ilorin urges religious leaders to preach peace

Posted by: Adekunle Jimoh, Ilorin Posted date: October 27, 2012 In: News |

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari yesterday urged religious leaders in the country to preach peace to their congregation.

The Emir spoke at the Ilorin Eid praying ground during the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir, saying religious leaders are duty bound to preach and propagate peace.

The state government in collaboration with security agencies in the state ensured adequate security measures in and around the Ilorin Eid praying ground, where Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed and his predecessor, Senator Bukola Saraki joined other worshipers to offer the two-rakah naflah.

He said the much desired growth and development would continue to be elusive unless the country is able to tackle headlong the security challenges facing it.

Sulu-Gambari enjoined his subjects to continue to live in peace and harmony with other members of the society while seeking God’s guidance for political office holders at all level.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir Salihu admonished Muslims to imbibe the virtue of perseverance.

He said if Nigerians imbibe virtues of perseverance, patience and love, the nation would be a good place for all to live in.

Let's hope religious leaders will listen to the Emir of Ilorin. The relative peace that exists in Ilorin should also serve as a sample to religious leaders in other town and cities in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: 1914 Amalgamation - A Historical Mistake? : Nairaland Political Debate by AndreUweh(m): 12:08am On Oct 28, 2012
What an interesting debate.
In my opinion, the almagamation wasn't a mistake at all. Reason; there were already inter-group relations in Nigeria and Lugard capitalised on it to almagamate the north and south.
There were inter-group relation between the Yoruba groups and Nupes, as well as Nupes and Hausa Fulanis.
There were also inter-group relation s between the Igbo groups and Tiv, Idoma and Igalas north of them, also there were inter-group relations between the Igbo groups and Ijaw groups south of them.
These inter-group relations had prepared the soil for Lugard's almagamation. The only mistake of the almagamation was Lugard's idea of building separate quarters for Non Hausa non muslim groups (Sabon Garis).
This his idea led to tribalism in Nigeria.

Ogoni militant: I am an Ijaw man. I love Igbos so much for their hard working spirit. Never say die attitude and strong will.

Yoruba for their spirit of protecting their own people no matter how bad.

Hausa for being very straight in their dealings

I love all the tribes in Nigeria except Ikwerres. I don't know why they are in rivers state. Their Igbo brothers disown them too.
Please do not any more hate Ndi Ikwerre. A lot of them are coming back to their senses. A mother does not throw away a child and soappy water. The Igbo have welcomed most Ndikwerre who went astray but have found their way back to Igboland.
God bless you.

In some Western Igbo areas, there are titles reserved for great women. These women title holders break kola nut, wear red hats and sits with Obis in their cabinet. It is very common in Ubulu Ukwu and Iselu Ukwu areas.
@Nri Priest, it is allowed.

ChinenyeN: After reading Odumchi and Mbatuku's posts, I believe we may need to take a step back and agree on how we're using the terms [un]related. For me, it's face value. I can, for instance, say that Ngwa and Nike are really unrelated. Ngwa doesn't recognize Nike and vice versa. There is no relationship between Ngwa and communities in Anambra. I could go on, but I'm sure you all get my point. That is my understanding and use of the terms [un]related.
Probably, all these groups are related but for the fact we do not have a written culture, so it is difficult now to know how related we all are.
Nevertherless, we must not let unity elude us. United we stand and divided we fall.

The next thing I know the r3tard carrying him head enter shouting "obese swine blah blah" or whatever the f2k he said. He think he's the only guy on here who carry mouth. I can't stand annoyance and really can't stand people desperately wanting attention and desperately jumping into conversation in which isn't there concern and in no way address him. mschewwww. People know I can't stand okija juju and probably any opinion about him is influenced by that but the man and his followers need to grow up. The same annoyance last election, the same annoyance now. A perfectly Good thread destroyed just because some people don't like losing. Seriously, I never in a million years thought I would inform anyone to imitate chino but in this case, he should learn from Chino and imitate him. Like everyone advice him, address what they said about you, change your ways, and try next election but for his followers na this year e go be by force.

I will listen to the advice since another person told me to ignore the monkey.
May the peace of our Lord be with you as you ignore all.

I wish when the presidential election comes up in 2015, it will be decided not on politcal platforms but brilliance of individuals.
