ifyalways: Nice to see such an occasion hosted @ Asaba.Asaba in 2004 Hosted the same event. Currently, The Asagba of Asagba is the leader of Ndieze in the entire Igboland. |
Asaba has always played an important role in the history, culture and politics of Ndigbo. It is interesting to note that Asaba hosted the first ever conference of Igbo language and literature in 1907. Asaba in 2004 hosted that years edition of Igbo day. The one this year is the second under the Ohanaeze. Asaba also hosted the peace-making between Col Joe Achuzia and Joe Irukwu-the then Ohanaeze sec-gen and pres-gen. One of the founding fathers of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is from Asaba-Chief Dennis Osadebe. Asaba, what a historic town of Ndigbo. |
OnlyTruth for EzeIGBO. |
Isinweke, Ihitte/Uboma LGA, Imo state, Eastern Nigeria. |
One of our worst matches in champions league. |
Abagworo: http://www.imostateblog.com/2012/10/01/progress-report-road-constructions-and-other-projects-in-orlu/Do you have any picture or sources about work in Okigwe by the Imo state govt? |
Abagworo: There is difference between "was" and "is". Arthur Nzeribe who happens to be my kinsman was once the richest man in Nigeria. Same as Fenandez but change is the only permanent thing on earth. What happened to Francis Arthur Nzeribe's wealth?. He was so rich and a crowd puller yesteryears. I can remember how every activity in Isinweke and Mbano closed down because Chief Nzeribe was coming to Etiti for a graduation ceremony of IMOSU then at Etiti. |
Jarus: Look, these guys have life outside Nairaland. If Mukina, who is the main homepage operator, is not around, then there is nothing you can do to it. And it is also possible that Seun and the the assistant Supermod have not come across the thread or not around sef. Also, getting a topic to the hp is entirely their discretion and not by number of pages. So it is not automatic that all recommended topics will eventually make it to the hp. BTW, I am just seeing that toipic for teh first time, so I dont know where the hp suggestions are being made. Has it been made here before?Jarus, with due respect to you, I only observed what wasn't right and I had to complain about it. That is why you created this thread in the first place. I have not lied or spoken ill of any person here. A thread that has hit 20 pages wasn't in the front page yet a thread that was created to make a mockery of Ndigbo was in the front page. I did not clamour for that thread to be removed. What I requested for was the Igbo nairaland election thread deserved to be in the front page instead of those silly ones that ridicules a group. Since the Nairaland Eze Igbo election was created, no one felt it is important enough to hit a home until it had gone after 20 pages. I DO KNOW THAT MODERATORS AND FORUMITES DO HAVE LIFE OUTSIDE NAIRALAND, but the world we are in today is the world where information is very easy to ascess. It may not just be with your desktop but with your lappy, Ipad, phones and other devices. Am very sure that those responsible for putting threads in the home page have ascess to all this modern day devices that can enable one see what is going on in this site of over 800,000 registered members. |
Katsumoto: Ndigbo did what it thought it best for it and so did the Nigerians. Loss of life on both sides is regrettable and not just loss of Igbo lives. Gowon failed to protect innocent civilians and also failed to try those who carried out the July coup just as Ironsi failed to try those who carried out the January coup. Injustice is injustice; it is wrong to complain just because you lost more soldiers than the Northerners. Moreso when their's was a reaction to the first blow thrown by Igbo sons. There is nothing to suggest that Ironsi did not try those involved in the January 15th coup. Ironsi kept them under lock and there was no intention to release them. But in the case of Gowon, what did he do to those who killed the head of state. Instead, he included them in his regime. Danjuma who killed Fajuyi and arrested the head of state is still with us today in Nigeria. What a shame. About Hausa lang test or whatever, is Hausa language the only language in the north?. Was the same test carried out in Yoruba and Igbo in the west and east?. On the unification decree, northerners in the same regime were not against it, if they were, they did not voice it out. Ironsi even travelled to the north to explain to them about the decree, yet they did nothing to him. Take it or not, those in the east were not to be blamed for their actions. |
coogar: absolutely.....Neither do those who killed a touring head of state and a governor in Ibadan know that their actions amounts for treason. |
Katsumoto: You miss the point. Ndigbo had every right to decide its own destiny. Those were descisions of wounded people. That is why I asked you the question that if you have a pregnant sister and then Abokis came and cut open her abdomen and kill the unborn child as well, your reasoning will be different. Apart from civilians, those in the military were killed with ease. about 185 Igbo military officers where killed within 3 months. Ndigbo were wounded, and as at that time, the only thing they wanted was to be on their own. Ndigbo did not long plan for this situation because, the last thing in the mind of an Igbo was to quit Nigeria. Even an Igbo who was marked for elimination fought so hard to foil the coup in Lagos and even arrested those who carried out the coup. If the governor of the north-Hassan Katsina had kept his words of safety of Ndigbo in the north, things would have been different. Secondly, what did Gowon do to those who carried out the pogrom in the north and those who systematically eliminated Ndigbo in the army?. There is an Eastern Nigerian saying that goes like this ''onye hu ka ebu ozu onyeozo, o na diya ka obu okporo osisi ka ebu''. When one sees the corpse of someone not related to that person, the person feels like it is just a wood that is being carried. |
Katsumoto: The thought process some of you exhibit sometimes indicates why some conflicts are unnecessary. You ask this sort of question because you were not directly involved in the pogrom. The descisions were made by those affected by the pogrom. Assuming you had a pregnant sister then she was killed in a cold blood by rippen open her stomach, am sure you would have agreed that easterners do not have to be in the same country with this sort of people. Descisions arrived at during that period may or may not be the best but under those circumstances, no blaming Ojukwu and co for what they did. |
coogar: what's satanic about awolowo's side? biafra was at war with nigeria, isn't it? doughnuts are not handed out during wars - had awolowo not cut the supply of food and medicals, the needless war would have continued and more igbo children would have starved to death! ojukwu should blame himself for leading multitudes to their deaths and not having a plan b.............what was he thinking? why did he go to war he wasn't adequately prepared for in the first place?Did he actually declare war. No to the best of my records. Gowon went to war. Anyone in Ojukwu's position will act likewise. Ojukwu had series of meetings with Hassan Katsina over the killings of Ndigbo in the north. He reassured Ojukwu that the killings of easterners has stopped and that Ndigbo should return to the east. Yet the pogrom continued, and easterners were not safe in their own country, so there was the need for a safe country. Ojukwu never wanted war and did everything to prevent war, remember Aburi and OAU summit in Kampala. |
If any actor during the Nigerian/Biafran civil war should publish his/her memoir will not miss out the role Awo playeed during the war. In Achebe's memoir, he has captured it as it happened. He did not only write about Awo's satanic side but offered us his references. Prof Achebe has no ill feelings towards the yorubas, in his memoirs, he paid glowing tributes to Soyinka, Hubert Ogunde etc. It is no sin for anyone to say things as it happened irrespective of who is involved. Prof Achebe, it shall be well with you. |
FreeGlobe: Mukina2. Anti igbo. You are very smart. |
Seun: That's misleading. I'm not aware of most threads on Nairaland. Moderators are required to suggest topics for the home page from their sections. Mukina2 is required to check every topic suggested by moderators, and give reasons if they don't make the home page. So if your thread doesn't make the home page, it has a lot to do with Jarus. Then Mukina2 has to come and give reasons why that thread was not considered for the front page and the one below and other laughable ones made it to the front page. https://www.nairaland.com/1080467/okorocha-punches-governor-obi-aide |
geeez: I see this statistics being brandished all over Nairaland by a few illusioned people. The Lagos State Government is a very transparent one and you can check through the records at the Lands Bureau. To even say they own or control 20% of Lagos will be a generous overstatement. It's high time you guys quit creating useless threads that brings bigotry to this site. Must one start a thread if you are not intelligent enough to start a responsible thread. Nonsensical. |
ilugunboy: Lolzzzzzz..@ 1/3 of the forum members. These folks and their funny statistics. You may be new to this forum and may not know it. Census has been held in this forum in the past. One of them Ndigbo were by miles the largest forumites and the last one were at par with the Yorubas and the two groups constituted about 70% of nairaland. The threads are there, check it out. But that is not the in thing. What worths doing worths doing well. Silly threads to mock Igbo people are put in the front pages while a thread meant for about 35% of nairalanders is not even giving a look. Is that not a shame to he or she responsible for that role?. |

Mz nAirA: Independent Electoral Commission, INEC has Sunday, declared Dr Olusegun Mimiko, the Labour Party as the winner of the Ondo State governorship election held yesterday. We saw it coming. Ondo state people would have made a mistake not to vote Mimiko in. Congrats, Labour Party. |
Who ever is responsible for putting threads in the from page should be ashamed of this thread below. Yet a thread that has hit 20 pages and likely to hit 50 pages will not be in the front page despite pleas from forumites. Ndigbo nairaland that constitute 1/3 of this famous forum needs to beg a moderator to do what is just. This is shameful, and that particular mod responsible for this delay or lack of should swallow pride and apologise to forumites here. This is very disgraceful. https://www.nairaland.com/1080467/okorocha-punches-governor-obi-aide |
Ibime: Can't wait to watch the highlights on MOTD. Been on the train this whole wild. You better watch it on skysports multi-choice from 10pm. BBC match of the day can be very biased. |
dayokanu: Any opinion on Torres in this game?He ensured Sturridge scored the last goal. He could have been off side in an attempt to position himself in an agle to score. Good descision from Fernando. |
alj harem: lol I told you tinubu was a waste of timeAlh Uche, don't let Eko ile see this your post lest you not be in trouble. |
ekt_bear: Anyway, from this snippet, it probably isn't far off the mark to say that Abubakar has blood on his hands.May be, but that was to move Nigeria forward IMO. |
Truckpusher: Apparently you only read the last paragraph and the rest u covered with your natural hatred for the ikwerres....IKWERRES ARE NOT IGBOS AND WILL NOT BE.How can I hate the Ikwerres when my wife is one of them. I do not hate my wife, nor Ikwerre people nor any Igbo group. |
How come no one here has mentioned Kevin De Bruyne's brilliance last week against Serbia. Two good goals from our lad on loan in Western Germany. |
Abagworo: Ransom was paid and the kidnappers were caught.Interesting. |
dayokanu: Ashebe is senile. The man you call a senile cripple went through a ghastly motor accident and survived it, but believe me, when yours shall come, you will not survive it. |
