He said that GEJ will beat Atiku hands down and it came to pass.
He also said that Buhari will be defeated by GEJ AND IT HAPPENED AS HE PREDICTED.
Envy him at your own peril.

I must confess, something is wrong here. Colonialism is long gone and we have to do away with colonialism. This idea of people in Riverine areas with double foreign names or foreign last names has to end. In Igboland, all this our first names that are foreign are shameful.
I feel ashamed of people caling me Andrew at work or when I was in school.
During my undergraduate years at Unibadan, about 12 of 15 of us of Igbo origin had English first names while the Yorubas, apart from one William, the rest had Yoruba surnames.
Even at the NATIONAL TEAM, check out those who come from Igboland
Christian Chukwu
Stephen Keshi.
Sunday Oliseh,Henry Nwosu, Alloy Agu, Alloy Atuegbu, David Adiele.
Ben Iroha
Emmanuel Amuneke
Augustine Okocha
Compare it to Segun Odegbami, Folorunsho Okenla, Tunde Bamidele, Ademola Adesina, Adeolu Adekola etc.
Even lately, we have Michael Obi, Victor Nsofor, Victor Anichebe, John Utaka compared to Taye Taiwo, Dele Adeleye, Sey Olofinjana, Ayo Makinwa, etc.
This nonsense really has to stop in Igboland as I thank God my son does not have any foreign name.

How many Igbos do we see with Christian first names? There are many, even though our names have religious meanings.[/quote]Well said Uchenna. I wish our Igbo brethren will emulate them in this aspect. My son has got no English or foreign name. His first name, middle and last names are in Igbo. I hope you and my other younger brothers who are not married will not make this mistake of handing our children foreign names.

I'd struggle to find an Igbo man named 'Alfonsus, Alloysius, Longinus, Donatus, Adolphus, Reginald', just like finding a Yoruba man by those names. Unlike Yoruba, I would struggle finding an Igbo man whose surname is Wellignton.
But you will not struggle to find Pini Jackson, Sandra Damasus, Teco Benson, Rita Dominic etc.
Ezeagu believe me, Yorubas are more at home with their native names.
While I was in classroom with the Yorubas in Yorubaland, almost all their first and last names where in Yoruba. Even at my work place at the moment, none of the Yoruba guys there are bearing foreign names.

Please reomve Yar'Adua's name. Not to insult him, but he wasn't exactly the center of attention in those meetings he attended with his pyjamas.

I still disagree with you on the Yoruba retaining their native names the most, at least among the middle class and up.
My secondary as well as university education were in Yorubaland. I also had my Youth service in Yorubaland. This afforded me with the opportunity know their name patterns.
In Igboland, we do retain our surnames but tot compared to the Yorubas. How about our Igbo first names as compared to Yoruba first names.
Have you ever seen a Yorubaman called Alfonsus, Alloysius, Longinus, Donatus, Adolphus, Reginald etc.
It is an established fact that Yorubas bear their cultural names more than any group in Nigeria.

Yea, only two percent of the Yorubas still retain those colonial names. They are found mostly in Lagos where the recaptives settled.
But believe me, amongst all the ethnic groups in Nigeria, Yorubas bear their cultural names more than any group. Hausas and Ijaws are the worst.

One of the reasons I like the Yoruba's is because they cherish their surnames so much. It will be rare to find a Yoruba man with a foreign surname.Perhaps only 2% of them.
But go to Bayelsa and Rivers states, it is voluminous.
PoliticsRe: Bill And Hillary Clinton On Why They Admire GEJ by AndreUweh(m): 11:25pm On Jun 10, 2011
This is why I have always clamoured for Nigerians to shun foreign surnames. All this foreign names are so rife in that region our president hails from.
Now whites are making fun of our president's name. What a shame.
PoliticsRe: Senate: ACN Back Akume For Minority Leader Seat by AndreUweh(m): 11:41pm On Jun 09, 2011
PStylish:
@All
All the Yorubas(Desola,Katsumoto,Ileke Idi, Eko Ile etc) supporting Tinubu and the ACN are fake. Very fake. They

are just consoling/deceiving themselves.

The loss of the speakership is a terrible loss to the average non-ACN SWesterner. Everyone in my family felt sad at

the emergence of Tambuwal but they were quick to console themselves with statements like "what did the SW gain

when they had the speakership position", "Tambuwal is ACN" e.t.c but the grief in their face was very visible.

For me, I was apprehensive and anxious to hear the news and when it finally came, I was cursing Tinubu and the

ACN from the bottom of my heart.I could not sleep overnight.I could see Tinubu's selfish interest written all over the

decision to support Tambuwal. Truth is, the average SWesterner is sad and very unhappy with Tinubu's

behaviour.Even some ACN members will be furious with him.

I dont know how a female PDP speaker would have affected the SW ACN.Didnt Dimeji Bankole, a sitting PDP

speaker lose his re-election bid to an unknown ACN candidate in a free and fair election despite the financial

resources at his disposal?

Abike Dabiri, ACN rep, tried to get to Tinubu's support for the PDP lady. This showed a Yoruba consensus to have a

representative at the centre especially as Obasanjo ensured the position was zoned to the SW despite the dismal

performance of the PDP in the region. But Tinubu's selfishness ruined it. Do you think if the vote had been thrown

to a general SW public they would not have voted Mulikat, PDP or no PDP?

Yorubas on this forum are just consoling themselves and overdoing it.The rest of Nigeria actually want us where we

are now - out of mainstream politics.

Some would say what did we gain in the mainstream?I say what did others gain from the mainstream? Its not a

matter of what you gain from the mainstream but being in the mainstream to represent your interests.Nigeria as a

country is very centre inclined as we are yet to practice true federalism. The FG remains the biggest spender in the

whole federation. How daft and senseless can it get for the SW not to have a representative at that level of

government just because of Tinubu.

The SW can handle both regional and mainstream politics concurrently as displayed in the last election unlike other

regions.

Why should Tinubu stop us from eating our cakes and having it if not for his selfish interest?

And for those making du.m.b permutations about 2015 let me state some categorical facts here

1. Only the PDP can produce the president of Nigeria for decades to come if not centuries. The PDP is similar to the

ANC of South Africa

2. The north is not happy with the SW at all be it Obj group or Tinubu group. The way we backstabbed them by

supporting Jonathan is still fresh in their memory right from the days of Yaradua's absence. The are desperately anti

SW at the moment.

3. The ACN will forever remain a regional party that can only win a tiny sprinkle of seats( courtesy aggrieved

decampees from PDP) outside the SW.It can never win the presidential election.

4. Jonathan will seek a second term and get it and the SW will support him amid support from other regions

5. Power will return to the north in 2019. A detribalised trustworthy northerner will be carefuly handpicked for the

job.

6. A Yoruba man can only be president on the platform of the PDP.

7.No matter what Tinubu does, he can never kill the PDP in the SW.SW PDP will always be a formidable opposition

in the region to serve as check and balance.

I feel other southerners, even our dearest enemies, the Igbos, feel for the SW on the loss of the speakersip

position.Forget the bashing. They would have preferred to have a Yoruba speaker than a Hausa speaker who will

surely be a threat to Jonathan's govt. No thanks to selfish Tinubu.

What baffled me was the PDP's decision to field a woman. That kind of worsened the situation and forced the

testosterone-dominated house to further defy zoning and support a man.So it was a case of man vs woman.

Muraina Ajibola was already doing well pre-inauguration and was set to win until the lady came from nowhere. The

north just could not stick it hence they brought up Tambuwal.I would have voted Tambuwal if I were not

Yoruba,zoning or no zoning.

For that,PDP, Jonathan and his wife deserved to be heavily whipped.

Another consolation is that even if the 70 ACN votes were removed from tambuwals 252 and added to Mulikat's 90,

she still would have lost.

YORUBAS STOP CONSOLING YOURSELVES.WE ARE NOWHERE IN THE CURRENT POLITICAL DISPENSATION AND IT IS A BIG SETBACK POLITICALLY AND BEYOND.OBASANJO HAS TRIED HIS BEST FOR US.THE OLD MAN WILL BE CRYING WHEREVER HE IS NOW.
May your days be long. This is the best post I have read here so far.

for all those making noise about the legality of the sacked lga chairmen, let me point it out that those lga chairmen were not elected, they were appointed by ohakim, their was no lg election in imo state during ohakims tenure, ohakim appointed them, so therefore they could be rightly disposed off or sacked by the state gov.

Dede1:
I am fully committed to democracy based on Nigerian constitution. It is plainly stated in a certain section of the constitution that INEC should conduct elections for the three tiers of government in Nigeria. I am not bothered with Ohakim’s issue because his it should be handled by the appropriate quarters.

I know some councilors who contested and won the election under platform various political parties including APGA. There is not place in Nigeria constitution that vacated the function of sacking the LGA councilors to the governor of any state.

If Okorocha feels that certain LGA chairmen seats were inherited illegally, he could sponsor the contestant from his party to seek redress through due process of the law by appealing to electoral tribunal.

I guess GEJ should sack Okorocha because there was no gubernatorial election in Oguta LGA.
Which election?. All the 27 local govt areas were PDP members. Go and figure. As regards to Oguta, there were rerun elections last May but the number of votes cast was more than the number of registered voters. This was because PDP and APGA went into ballot snatching in that area. As a result INEC voided the results.

Please re-read the statement; I didn't state that there should have been a state of emergency declared in the East. I merely stated that there were far more violent actions in the East that didn't result in a state of emergency being declared. There were riots in Okrika that resulted in loss of lives and property; a state of emergency wasn't declared. Yet a state of emergency was declared for chair throwing in the western house of assembly which resulted in no lives being lost. I don't need to also remind you of the violence in Tiv land.
Was it declared for just chair throwing?.

In the first place, there were no local council and councillorship election in Imo state last August.None of them can prove how he emerged by the electorates. The chap appointed as the local govt chairman was here in the U.K with me until the last day he left to pick up that position.
It was just a mere compensation from Ohakim for the job the chap's brother was doing for Ohakim in South Africa.
The PDP primaries in Ihitte-Uboma LGA had earlier on raised one barrister Uhuegbu only for Ohakim to substitute Uhuegbu's name with this chap who was with me here in the Uk TILL THE LAST MINUTE.

Dumb and ignorant statements like this are part of the reasons Delta Igbos have been repeatedly pushed into a corner in their state. Make no mistake about it, a future governor from the north of the state wld owe his allegiance to the state and as much as possible DISTANCE himself from groups as Ohaneze not cos he doesnt think he's Igbo but becos it is the right thing to do in an ethnically diverse state as Delta. Being seen to be sucking up to the will of another regionally dominant tribe would spell doom for Delta northerners.
There is no reason whatsoever why anything Igbo will scare you guys away. Anioma participation in Ohanaeze is purely cultural and should not worry you. Anioma elected leaders do not play any active role in Ohanaeze so why worry.

I personally feel Tinubu should be made Asiwaju of Yorubaland because that will motivate him to do more for the Yorubas. I can remember that sometime in 1990, the Igbo council of traditional rulers made the then head of state-IBB ''ochi agha Ndigbo'. With this title bestowed on him, IBB responded by creating Abia, Enugu and Delta state with the capital at Asaba nine months later.
Am with those who support Tinubu on this matter based on my reason above.
