all4naija: The terrorists use rocket propelled grenades and anti-aircraft guns to try to overrun the barracks. You are underestimating the weapons use by Nigerian terrors, dude. If they are given the chance to fight SA soldier they will defeat them in a few period of time, maybe in 6 to 7 months time will be enough for them.200 light infantry could never take a battlion sized Base. The seleka had simlar wepaons and we killed 0ver 500 of them. I am not in the mood to repost stuff for you. Why most of the solders where all hit at that time, with proper training you can get out the killzone fast, that is what was done. |
all4naija: Go and reread that link again. This is part of the news. I quote:and i piont it out how they where wrong. It is impossible for the SANDF to hide deaths. every year a report is made public with every death and injure in the SANDF. Many civilian company’s and personal are all involved in dealing with deaths. it was a lie |
all4naija: We are saying the same thing, that prisoners are not kept in barracks - as your former South African was alluding to. Which just discredited his claim of the terrorists setting free prisoners by infiltrating the barracks. Thank you for that reasonable view.the attack on the barracks was ether a dumb move by poorly trained rebels or a means to tie down the force there. The SANDF did not launch any attack and the report on the battel covers the defens of the base. Not one person was killed in the base by the way. All where killed in a ambush when they got attacked by 23mm autocanons, 30mm AGL and heavy mortas. proof those claims |
all4naija: Here is a LINK coming from your country's news site. It states that your country lost about 36 soldiers than the 13 peddles around here by most South Africans in this forum. It also lays claim to good numbers of the rebels killed among many were children. It is a big shame on your soldiers reputation.it dose not say that. it says investigating reports that dozens of South African soldiers were missing or killedand then At the same time, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula denied in Parliament that more than 13 South Africans died in the fighting, which erupted when rebel leader Michel Djotodia led thousands of insurgents into the Central African Republic capital.this has all ready been covered, it is impossible for the SANDF to hide deaths She acknowledged there had been child soldiers among those killed by South African soldierswhere do you see it saying a goods number of the rebels where child solders pleas try again. |
all4naija: That 104 were prisoners set free from Bama prison not the barracks. Are prisoners even kept at barracks we fought, and got them to ask for a cease fire, and where able to hold the base and no training team where lost. mission was a success |
all4naija: CAR was massively fought by child rebels.provide source that it was "massively fought by child solders. most of the rebels where combat harden rebels acting has mercs from chad and sudan. In serri leon and Liberia most of the rebels where preteens. so glass houses and that. |
all4naija: They didn't succeed freeing any prisoner in the first place. That was a 202 Battalion Barracks, in Bama and they never succeeded. 21 of the terrorists were confirmed dead,6 police killed and 14 inmates losing their lives in the crossfire. 2 soldiers,3 children and a women also lost their lives. If this insurgents were to attack SA barracks I think they would have succeeded after seeing what happened in CAR of what happened at BAMA Barracks HEREsource say 104 prisoners got out. In car 3000 rebels attacked 200 sa solders. At one point 1500 rebels attacked the base directly, at that time only protected by a small SF team and base staff the para bat company and support platoon fighting out side the base. The base never fell and the rebels asked for a cease fire. |
all4naija: I shook my head while reading this your comment. That explains how I feel about it. You forgot so soon Nigeria fought a civil war in the past. The ones who fought in Liberia and Sierra Leon where not under UN by ECOMOG which Nigeria is the head. IF you have seen the videos of the war and battle that ensued those nation in the past you would know that CAR is a child's play.the civil war was some time ago, and though car was not a massive war, it was tough due to the numbers. 200 vs 3000. we entered CAR in 2007 to train CAR solders. We then sent a force to protected that team. So we had every right to be there. A recognized government asked us to be there. |
all4naija: Nigerian army has been tested in Liberia, Sierra Leon, Sudan, etc and now in Mali. Our military has consistently be fighting for the rights of Africans as well as the world by engaging in reputable fights around the world in the past and present. So civil wars. Not one convensnail war. Nigeria has never had there all there radios been jamed(somthing SA can do) or have there C2 sytems target by pression strikes, fight mechnized forces extra extra. There mission was to protected a training team and the greater area around them. The regional peacekeeping force was there to keep the peace. SA did have a plan to defend the city, but it depended on both CAR and the peackeepers providing the core force. |
all4naija: Nigerian military has been put to test in some warring countries unlike SA without good war experiences. The CAR peace keeping force that is supposed to put things in perspective to better understand your country military prowess failed to do just that. They were chased out of the area by young rebel fighters. So, Nigeria is not overrated as SA.What war zone has nigeria been in, in the last 20 years. The mission in CAR was not peacekeeping. Nor where we chased out. We never left under fire and we remaind in country for some time after the battel. |
agaugust: south african army entered CAR, k.illed some Seleka rebels, ran away back to airport, then to south africa...does that make you win the battle ? does your brain work ?There mission was to protected thetraining team and equipment. That was completed. In a sense it was a succses. No not every raid is successfull. But it can not be messured in ground held. Even wining a battel can b seen has a losses if it leads to lossinh a war. It clear you don't know what you talking about. |
agaugust: @homerac7 posted 2 sources, and BOTH 2 sources say 2 nigerian army soldiers died, 13 b.oko h.aram fighters died.Where did I say more than 2 solders died? That just more proof you don't work in the defense industry. You only see one tracked though of what a victory is. In a raide, dissrubsion, interdicstion, harrasment, extra extra holding ground is not the objective. 200 solders would not have been able to hold the town, making it seem more like this was a raide. And since they where able to get in, inflicted losses and get out. BH won. Confirm they are armend and trained to use there firearms. And they part of the secruity servises same has the army. In war a armend cop is a legal target. They part of the sytem fighting BH has well and BH prisoners are held in jails. So yes they fall under the goverment forces that fought BH in this attack. Yes but not 104 all at the same time. Poliece have a roll to play in the rear area during war. And are all ways the leading branch to play during peace times. SANDF solders don't even have power of arrest. |
agaugust: are you blind ? i quoted the very same source @homerac7 posted ! you did NOT quote, you wrote out in your own words twisted and lied to change the story. shame on you white man boer fraudster liar ! a disgrace to your colour and raceThis is the source homerac7 posted http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/troops-lock-down-bama-after-boko-haram-attacks/ So don't call me a lie. I am not you. I don't misslead or lie. I don't care if the army base was over run or not. 2 other nastional key points where. A poliece stastion and prisson. What if the enter point was to spring some one from that prison. That means the goverment forces lost. |
agaugust: with the post above from a respectable neutral source REUTERS,Can you even read. I posted a dirrect word for word quote from a source homerac7 posted. I did not even give my opion on it. Just a direct quote. |
Donian007: @Andrewza, ure r nt talkn 2 sm1 wit litle millitary awareness, i'm very deep n knwledgeable in world millitary affairs. Jst check out d kitting of d Ghana Special Forces(laughable) kum 2 think of it d only action dey've seen is parading on independence day n election monitoring, probably trying 2 scare u ghanaians, no wonder wen dae showed up d opposition parties n ghana accused d government of tryin 2 use dm 2 intimidate d opposition during elections. Nigerian soldiers dnt monitor elections let aln spec forces. Besydx sm Nigerian n Senegalese army spec forces where battling rebels alng side Mali n Franch as announced by French Defense Ministry during d initial offensives, dey r also doin der CTCOIN stuff up Northern Nigeria, recently NNSBS Commandos took part in Excercise Obangame in Cameroun n 2 Nigerian Ships were deployed u nid 2 c d classic shw of professionalism exibited by NNSBS. Also d no1 partner of Africom in SubSaharan Africa is Nigeria. D NNSBS ave several uniforms 2 suit enviroment, dere original chinese navy type, all black kitting n d new Navy fatigue n d army fatigue der usd 4 Exc. Obangame. D Army also does same, in Jos Plateau der use a light desert sand+brown fatigue, doz in Mali also use a distinguishd desert fatigue whyl CTCOIN troops use a green+light desert sand fatigue. Most countries ave special kittn 4 forces, all we c wit d ghana spec forces r knee pads, chalks, no bdy armour/side arm, wrng kittn. I laf u Cux spec forces r designd for special ops, lyk CQC, infiltration, hostage rescue, house clearance, extraction, etc. Ghana cnt even rival Chad, Guinea, Senegal let aln Nigeria. Any1 tryin to cmpare or assume dat Ghana can equal Nigeria is an IGNORAMUS!I never menstion ghana or there milltary. Just genrial milltary affairs. |
homerac7: You dey crase!"Disguised in army uniforms, the insurgents broke into a prison, killed 14 guards and set free 105 inmates. They attacked a police station, killing 22 officers. Also dead were 13 Islamists, four civilians and two soldiers." That was from your source. So 38 goverment forces dead and 13 rebels dead. No sandf base or saps poliece stastion has ever been over run. Not in or out side south africa. |
olire: that one abt america sending help to egypt is far fetched. How could they have being sending aid if egypt was being run by a dictator, and is being run by an islamist. So 3000 is a large percentage of your army. Lwkmd. Some of americas greatest freinds are dictators. Look at saudi arabia. A nastion led by roral famly, no elecstion, no womens rights extra extra. Egpty get the money due to a peace deal with isreal. Part of the deal is that egpty must spend the money in america. So america actually looses nothing and if egpty ever breaks the deal they stop supplying spare parts. Army is 37,000 permant 12,000 reserve and 6,500 civlians. |
olire: Hey nobody should mention egypt because israel defeated them IN SIX DAYS!!! You can google it if you want. I think its naija dat is the strongest:population. For crying out loud we are the mother of africa. U pple just don't know wats goin on. In any peace keeping misson we send the highest number of troops. How many are they in egypt comopared to nigeria. Even only thr omatse cult will def dem wit cutlass and knivesNo one menstions egypt since they get 5 billion usd from america every year just for defense. That the entire SA defense budget in forghine aid. You send about 6000 sa sends about 3000 so half your numbers. But when you look at the size of our millaries you see we send higher percentiage of our solders. |
all4naija: I still think SA military capability is overrated. It will be difficult for them to defeat a country like Angola when it comes to war, a conventional war for that matter. With no cuba(and more importantlu ussr montary support) around it will not be hard to beat angola. Any case angola is a close ally There is this littel problem though concerning the sandf. It set up for internal defense only. But this is not the case. The sandf is been stretched to thin. It has very littel room to move in. The sandf can only maintain 1 brigade(or 3000 troops) on forghin deployments. Any more and we can not do a proper rotastion, keep supplied, pay allwances for. We have around 3000 deployed. We can only maintain a max of 1 ship 90% of the year for anti piracy. The frigats where all so never ment to work that hard. We all ready had to replace one engine(not a easy task mind you). This is down to the 1998 white paper on defense and corrsponding 1999 defense review. Though the 2012 deffense review dose fix most of the problems. It was unfornatly delayied when a new defense minster took over, then by CAR and lastly DRC. Though it is now finaly before cabnet after Zuma sighend of on it. But even with all our problems I still rate us the most profisniol milltary in africa, best trained in africa, best equipent in africa and with the best support sytem in africa. Only in size are we beaten. |
http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201305030753.html/?maneref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3DSANDF%26hl%3Den%26gl%3Dus%26tbm%3Dnws%26ei%3D-zaNUeTHGOmW0AWApYDwCA%26start%3D20%26sa%3DN On 30 April 2013 members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) who were conducting standing patrolling duties at Poppalin Ranch next to Malala Drift on Zimbabwe and RSA border, saw a suspicious group of people carrying boxes. |
all4naija: These weapons weakness is the precision problem. Even at the point of them being under the radar guide they are still not in a position to hit targets with accurate precision. Before hitting target the object might have move some distance away from there thereby destroying what it is not meant for. When have seen this happened in Iraq war and other where innocent people were murdered for the large of the these weapons precision. If you are going to purchased a weapons for your fighters go for Small Diameter bombs with a good precision. They accuret enough for the job. Guided rounds are very expensive. They not main stream even in america. Any case it there are pression in sandf. But the opv don't need any. Not for there role |
Donian007: Dis thread realy mks me laf, GHANA ARMY? d joke of W. Africa. Nd u even go as much comparing NIGERIAN ARMY to dat of ghana? Damn! U guys cnt even transport 120 army carpenters n bricklayers to Mali. As we write here, ghana army does nt ave a single BATTLE TANK, ND u r showing us humvees dat were blasted apart wit AKs in Somalia? Take note. NIGERIA have a defense industry DICON, producing APCs, automatic rifles i.e AKs, G3s, FNFALs. HMGs, MMGs, GPMG, helmets, ballistic vests, mortars, RPGs, NVGs(night vision googles) grenades, etc. Every kittn nd weapons u c any nigerian soldier wit is home made including doz n Mali. D Nigerian Navy has made its first War Ship, NNS ANDONI n its on sea doing so well, it waz celebratd internationally, Nigerian Airforce has also made 3 drones(UAVs) Amebo1,2 n 3, Amebo 3 s undergoin more research n improvements as dey all did successful test-flights. Nw to Ghana Special Forces, its so ridiculous, funny, unheard-of nd unprofessional, spec forces world wide dnt carry abt or use heavy weapons i.e Machine guns, RPGs, even rubbing chalks, wit no NVGs, correct bodyarmour(wrng kitting) cux it will hinder flexibility, NNSBS in Nigeria are well kitted, ave several uniforms to suite environment n armed wit Tavor rifles. U Ghanaians shd stp fooling urselves. Bt since u import ur RPGs, Aks, kitts y dnt u gv Nigeria d contract to supply u. Nigeria s 2 far powerful 2 b cmpared 2 u Ghana, its nt new dat Nigerian Millitary Might s mr dan all d W. African countries+ Cameroun n Chad. Do sm research n stp decieving urselves @Ghanaians.i take it you not actualy in the milltary engerners are not carpenters or brick layers. they perfom a number of highly skilled jobs. acctually SF unitis do use all those things you menstioned. heavy wepaons used by SF units 105mm reciols rifels 107mm MRLS 60mm through to 120mm auto canons anti matrial rifels most SF units have there own line of vechls and boats. All of them heavly armend A real SF unit uses what ever is needed. SA SF use what ever rifel is needed. if it is a AK47 then it is a AK47 if it is a M16 then it is a M16. though typicaly they use R4 or R5 since that way they dont stand out. |
all4naija: Good for the fighters upgrade. But, those weapons have no good precision. They are dropped in areas thought to be infiltrated and can cause high collateral damages. I would opt for any nation to upgrade such weapons in this modern time than rely on them for use. What do you mean they not accurate? Has long has you fire in your effectv range you good to go. And when used against other ship or boats it is radar guided. |
http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-30430/ SAN is recomisiong and upgrading all 4(from 2) of her warroi strike craft. They will be in servis for at least 5 years. The upgrade will remove the aft 76mm at place 2 quike launch boats there. And repia/replace all elctroincs and mechnical parts. Along with hull maintaince. Sa operated 9 strike craft 3 built in isreal and 6 built in SA. Only 4 remian. The rest sunk has targets. They no long carrir missiels since the skerpion have all been used up (missile have a expire date) and the excocsent has not been intrgrated. Though there current role has OPV makes it not needed. Removing the aft 76mm frees up space for boarding boats and teams. Current wepaons are. 1 76mm 2 20mm 2 12.7mm A number of 7.62mm moutings. They have a low profile(they small basicaly) and high top speed. All so pack more than enough fire power with that 76mm. |
all4naija: In Mozambique, trying to take over all the economy affairs with punitive measures of overshadowing that country will huge investment and thereby taking over indirect country of the certain part of the policies and politic. Also in Zimbabwe, the reason why Mugabe remained in position is due to SA support and that has had a terrible impact on the people who later flood SA with illegal immigrants who are being attacked on daily bases. Few were burnt alive in the xenophobic incidence of the past. In the recent CAR situation, it is very clear the reason why SA was in CAR was more of economy interest than to create peace which they accused France of. I can go on and on.Mozimbique is a close ally of SA. And they enjoy a lot more from the deal than SA. Mugaby may be a racit anglo phobe but he dose enjoy a lot of real support from zibweans. Harsh acstions will not remove hime from power only cause suffring among the poor in zimbawe. And thuse problems for sa. The xenophibic acstion by people in SA was not goverment poliece. We where asked by the leadship of CAR to set up those economic deals. They wanted it. Most bussines in SA where not intristed in CAR. Hence a lot of goverment contoled or freindly companys where in CAR. Again show one country. That foolish. SA wants a strong nigeria. We have far more to gain from a strong nigeria than a weak one. Remember over 100 companys from SA do bussnies in nigeria. Though that was before the new deals we have just sighed. |
all4naija: I hope Nigeria purchase some modern ballistic missiles and warheads as South Africa is trying to threaten other smaller nations in Africa with their economy and meager military might.Unless they nucklear they a waist of money. Any case what country have we threanted. Name just one country. Nucklear wepaons are banded from africa. Chemical and bilogcal are only a threat to civlians. And most are banded. In short not going to happen. |
agaugust: dafur and south sudan are joined by a long common border. i meant nigeria was involved in both dafur war and south sudan peace negotiations. nigerian army landed in dafur and stopped the k.illing and r.aping of blacks by north sudan arabs. And they 2 diffrent areas. Darfu is not at peace. Far from it even south sudan still has troubil. He was a leading member of the peace team and credited for much of the work. Once again you spread your lies and missinfomastion. Seleka had only a few child solders. The vast majorty of them where merc from chad and sudan. Not farmers. Runaway. The guy was deployed to entebe. And proble had no access or was following opsec rulls. Aka no leaking info. Nor where the AK's old. Any all of the SA parabats killed wher killed at the Y juncstion when they cam under fire from the rear from 23mm auto canons, 30mm AGLs, mortas(source is in afrikanse. Still want it) not AK47's. Where do you see any request of training for SANDF by nigerians. Post a source. I mean I know you a fool but that a out right lie. You should be banned for that. I explianed how they got hold of that gear. And landcruisers are not combat 4x4. There was a caspir ambulance. That was the only vechile close to being a combat vechile in CAR. It was not captured. Nor where the SF hornets. agaugust stope spreading lies and missinfomastion. |
agaugust: ...one million whites left south africa because they know the future is no longer bright...$40 billion external debt,South africa is richer know than it ws during aparthied. All so I doubt it all external debt. Most is internal loans. Not to menstion we can aford our payments. Debt is not a bad thing. |
agaugust please knock it of with this CAR thing. You have no proof to back up your cliams. Yet still spread your lies. Another qustion. This time for nigeria. Nigeria is supposed to have 2 mechnised infantry brigads. But other than the BTR-3(only 47 not all are IFV even basicaly it one battlion worth) I don't see any other IFV in nigerias orbit. So are you useing one of the APC has a IFV |
Back to milltary. For Cameroonpride. Has cameroon heard replaced there LAV150s. I heard they had a order to do so but have not heard if it was complet. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: nice , i hope it will b reduced to "0" soonNot going to happen any time soon. Most white south african leave for the same resone black leave. High paying jobs. It a myth they runing away. Many still keep there SA ciztenship and spend a lot of there time in SA Either way whites have less children. It not hard to get a work permit in SA it can be done. And up to 15% of our poplastion could be forghiners. There are 250,000 leagaly regersted nigerians alone. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: you have not point and more sutpid than i thot, Cameroon is not an Ecowas member yet 20% of our trades are done with Nigeria..so your point about rwanda and the rest not being in SADC is nul ..i repeat RWANDA ,UGANDA,RDC are in the east-south Africa sphere......Uganda ,Rwanda,RDC are not members of the CEMAC so according to your dumb posts they are not in central Africa sphere right? idiat and since they are not in Cemac and SADC cvan we conclude they are on their own? you slowpoke...dont you share a border with nigeria. and no where dose it say you cnt trade out of of your ecomnic block. SA's biggest trade partner is not even africa. all of africa trades more with us. We a major idustrial power. the largest market for our cars in africa is algeria. |
