agaugust: I actually started my topic on page 229 with these 3 other sources NOT Wikipedia,

http://allafrica.com/stories/201209120083.html
http://data.worldbank.org/sites/default/files/gdf_2012.pdf
http://www.resbank.co.za/Pages/default.aspx

but I discovered that these 3 sources including south African government reserve bank website were all agreed in the same data and figures in Wikipedia, so I switched over to Wikipedia source because it is neutral and simple to read, the other world bank and south African bank data is too complex and loaded with details people don't have time to read.

I like making simple easy to understand and clear arguments for honest and sincere people to comment, not people who think their ego and pride is injured if Nigeria is better than south Africa in any thing..
i know i was respounding only to the nostion that wikpeadia is a good source. wikpeadis is a good template

that because they all get there infomastion from the same source.

that is a lie. and i diproved you littil piece of misinfomastion.

agaugust: @AwodwaGyanOniwe listen dunce, Wikipedia is the only neutral and freely accessible source of information for a forum like this. Many people have used it on this thread. Don't be a crook avoiding it because it does not favour your belief
..your outdated belief that if mathematically faulty.
And it a very poor choice. If I can I avoid useing it.

all4naija: The truth is that Nigeria economy is going to dwarf SA in some years to come. There is nothing SA can do about that. Whether they like it or not it will definitely overshadow their economy in few years to come.
Actually a richer nigeria is a rucher South Africa. Not to menstion they have found a number of new resources(oil and gase) in SA.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 2:07pm On May 07, 2013
agaugust: all my posts have quoted sources from Wikipedia which is a neutral source. most other people post their old time outdated layman beliefs with no source to prove and no figures or fomula calculation.

So far, nobody here has displayed any mathematics to challenge my own simple mathematics.

In an academic environment, my posts will defeat all of you because i have proved my point mathematically.....Nigeria is richer than south Africa in net-worth value of government cash wealth

what i just proved is too shocking for everybody to believe except @souldust. the rest of you cannot think outside a closed box that you are used to...old belief of many years that south Africa is richer than Nigeria, but today the economic figures of cash flow and net-worth has changed.

South Africa imports more than she exports and has negative balance of payment....bad sign of economic time bomb. Nigeria has surplus of more export revenue bigger than import bill....good sign of economic strength.

my economics is NOT bad, it is scientifically sound. Net-worth is the way banks judge who is richer and who is poorer. Banks avoid a debtor who spends more than he earns.

My valuation of Nigeria vs south Africa cash government net- worth is based on perfect accounting principles. If you try to fault it, you will fail. The texbook of financial management proves me right.

Any chartered accountant here to challenge me ? I am ready for you.

I challenge anyone to mathematically prove me wrong....you will fail .

.
wikpedia is not a source on it's own. It is a open source site, any body can say any thing on wikpedia. when useing wikpedia scroll done and check if there are sources on there. wikpedia is never ment to be braged about and is not neutrial.

maths was not not need since your entire logic was wrong.

no you would get laughed at because your logic is wrong

i have all ready explianed how you have yoused poor logic and misinfomastion to get to your cliam. no 3eal econmic group agrees with your poor piece of ilogical dribbel

that is a blanted lie and you know it. trade is SA largest source of income.

Your economics is not just bad it is utterly messed up bull.

I acctualy did accounting and uyou talking bull, and I explianed why.

You where proven wrong by me a long time ago, you failed to take in to account a number of othervarbils(populastion, unemployment, poverty, size of eccommy, extra extra) you took only the varbils to make nigeria to look good. Aka misinfomastion, in a sense you lied and only a fool would beilve the bull you wrote.

agaugust: nigeria has NEVER experienced famine or hunger despite all these published alarms. nigeria exports food too, and we have food/grain reserves in massive silos storage for emerygency. we import a lot of wheat for bread because it cannot grow in hot nigerian climate. we import rice a lot but government is changing that gradually. more local rice grown in nigeria.

we eat a lot of yam, beans, gari/cassava all grown in nigerian farms. we have our poultry farms and banned/stopped import of chicken. we have our fulani cows. nigeria is secure with food, no wahala.

south africa imports food a lot...real foodstuffs, confirm on weblink below

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_South_Africa
It is called a time bomb. Has in it will become a problem.

SA imports certain foods. But maize is the stapel crop and we don't import any. Only certain crops. All so a larger middel class means more luxury goods.

Reshearch is your freind.

@Spirit says:

@Henry,
Your country has been “secretly” building and testing long range rockets (missiles?) in Epe, Lagos state. I know guys living in the area that claim they sometimes see the missiles soaring into the night skies even before the MOD made it public some 3 years ago. I thought the projects has been scrapped until the minister mentioned it last month.

http://beegeagle./2012/07/21/nigeria-success-story-in-defence-industry/

quote from :

Dr. Robert Ajaiyi Boroffice granted, before separating officially from the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)— where he served as Director-General and Chief Executive Officer for eight years

"I once wrote a story in The Sunday Guardian about NASRDA’s testing of experimental rockets at Epe, Lagos State…That caused quite an up-roar, globally!

Yes. So you can see what I mean! (Laughing) It’s a very sensitive issue.

So, where does the space programme go from here?

We are at a very critical stage of the space programme in Nigeria. NASRDA is putting one of the most important infrastructures on ground."

south africa is NOT better than nigeria....proofs

nigeria's GDP growth rate is 3 times bigger than south africa.

nigerian economy is growing 3 times faster than south african economy

the above sources also say that oil is only 14% of nigerian GDP, agriculture is 40%.

south african GDP is 65% services, agriculture is only 2%. thats not a good sign. south africa imports food on large scale.

povery rate, nigeria 45%, and south africa 35%, very close to each other.

unemployment rate, nigeria 24%, and south africa 23%

south africa is highly over-rated

weblink sources
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_South_Africa
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Nigeria
Oil is still the biggest eraner of forighin reserve in nigeria.

Agriculter in nigeria is a primary employer.

But in SA with only 11% of the land farmaibil it not a big eraner. But that dose not mean we import food. We are a food exporter.

It is expected that nigeria agriculter industry both formal and informal will not keep up with it's populastion growth.

You did no real reshearch on that post at all.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:45am On May 07, 2013
agaugust: debt is a major signal of riches. if you have $1000 savings and debt $900, the man with $300 savings and $100 debt is richer than you are. debt reduces riches and it always hangs on your head like a dog chain.

NO, south african GDP per head is 3 times nigerian GDP per head, NOT 6 times ! NO WAY !

i used Adam Smith's definition of economics...an inquiry into the nature and causes of wealth of nations. i used that principle to prove that nigeria is richer than south africa. GDP is total market value of goods/services produced in a country, but when those goods are sold, does all the money go into government pocket ? NO. i am judging the wealth of the two nations nigeria and south africa....i figured out how rich each government is, and nigeria is richer than south africa because of much less external debt

GDP is NOT how much money each citizen of a country has, GDP is total value of goods/services produced in the country. it does NOT show real cash in peoples pocket because when some of the goods are produced the money goes into pockets of the business owners but employees only get salaries. also, all goods are not sold that same year, they become unsold inventory/stocks and they dont put money in anybody's pocket in that condition.

spain's GDP almost 3 times nigerian GDP but spain is in economic mess because of cash crisis.

a country cannot spend GDP, but it can spend cash to buy imports.

@souldust also mentioned nigeria has a huge informal economy of goods/services produced and not recorded because the people do not report it to government statistics agency just to avoid paying tax, and many people in rural agricultural areas dont report statistics to government....nigeria's published GDP is under-estimated, the real figure is higher.

in war, a country's net worth as i calculated for nigeria and south africa, determines how much weapons it can import without borrowing money.

i explained the budget issue. south african economy is different from nigeria, we use oil price to budget and we always under-estimate the value of our oil revenue every year, we make more money than we budget and we have surplus billions of dollars every year. thats why nigerian defense budget is not the limit of money we spend on defense in reality, we spend more by taking money from the surplus oil sales revenue.

it takes more than BSc degree in economics to figure out my analysis, it requires many years of practical understanding of how national wealth and personal wealth relate to each other.

people talk a lot about GDP because thats all they know.

there are people with money in nigeria, millions of cash in their houses hidden outside the bank system, no records.
That not how debt works.

I have 20,000 rand debt and 10,000 dirrect saviving. I eran 10,000 and take home 500. Of the other 5000 only 1.500 goes to debet repayment.

Has I said debt is only a issue if you can't repay it.

http://www.indexmundi.com/south_africa/gdp_per_capita_(ppp).html

Read and weep. 2000vs 11,000

It matters not why but what. Nigerias budget is smaller than south africas. That is a fact. You spend less money on your people. And what country fixes there economy to a commidty. It makes no sense.

It took 5 second to find your flaws.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:30am On May 07, 2013
souldust: @andrewza you are missing something here. GDP per capita cant be a true reflection of the purchasing power of a people of any country. What is GDP per capita? It is the value of your GDP divided by your population. But what if the money is in the hands of the few like it is the case with SA? Your economy is basically formal sector and the formal sector is controled by the white minority!

I know some people would say it is the same thing with Naija. But i would say no! The elite control our GDP. But the informal sector is not included in our GDP. The informal sector, which is so large, is controled by the people. The money the people make from the informal sector stays with them.

This is why despite how poor international figures on Nigeria look, we have so many neighbourhoods that used to be completely bushy, now at least 80percent covered with decent houses in about 5years. I hope you get what i am trying to pass across.
We have the fastes growing mideil class in africa, and a masive informal sectore. And 100million nigerians are in porverty. Yes they may be able to live. But can they send there kids to school(in SA they get goverment grants) pay transport to travel to look for jobs, pay medical extra extra.

Nigeria has arround 2/3 of there country in poverty. Yet you still believe what you saying.

We in SA know we have a wide rich poor gap. But more and more people are becoming middel class.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:22am On May 07, 2013
souldust: GDP per capita is not a good way of measuring standard of life in my opinion. A better way is to relate your GDP per capita to the COST OF LIVING of your locality. I dont know about SA, but in most parts of Nigeria, one dollar can buy you 3 square meals.
We where not talking about stardard of living.

And I think you wrong.

Since increasing petrol price from N65 to N97 in January, prices of goods and services have soared by as much as 50 per cent or more, leaving Nigerians to pay more while their earnings remained largely the same.
Four months into the new price regime, analysts have said the country’s poverty level has leapt forward while the gap between the poor and the rich has widened.

http://mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/nigerian-government-claims-living-standard-improving-despite-chronic-poverty-premium-times

http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2012/08/28/south-african-living-standards-improve-study

SA has only about 1% in the lowest level.

agaugust: I did NOT mean to insult you, if my statement sounds like personal insult on you, then i apologize. We may be punching each other in the nose, but i don't like insulting people about their education finance medical social status. I hate doing that.

I reacted strongly because i am very sure of what i wrote and it will take a Phd degree holder in Economics to find a fake 'error' in that post...Nigeria richer than south Africa by $40 billion as at today.

America is poor as at today, America is cash broke. America is living on heavy debt, though it's mostly internal debt. Almost all the dollar cash reserves that Clinton left for us was wasted by Bush on Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

GDP is high in America, one of the highest GDP in the world, but GDP is not real money in peoples pockets that you can spend, GDP is not cash inside your bank account.

America has super high GDP but little cash to spend so it has to borrow and make more debt.

GDP is a s.tupid but universally acceptable way of judging wealth of nations.

Can i buy bread and milk in the supermarket and pay for it with GDP ?

I don't want to argue this topic, the truth is so clear.
Here the problem. You the only one who thinks this. Debt is only a problem if you strugel with payments.

And we not strugling.

You all so failed to take in account any of the points I made.

You do know that most of americas debet is owed by america. That why I brought it up. Most people assume it is china but china is only americas biggest forghn debt owner.

Next GDP per capita is how much money is aviabil per persone. And SA has 6 times has much has nigerias.

Next. Budget. SA Budget is far highers than nigerias and we have a smaller popualstion.

I may not have a degree in economics. But not because I can't get it, but because I don't care for one.

GDP is a poor measure of wealth. Net-worth in terms of dollar/other forex cash reserves minus debts is a better measurement. Regular cash in-flow per month is also very important.

the above is the easiest way to determine which country is richer, other methods do not show real purchasing power and savings.

both countries have about the same dollar/other forex reserves, but south africa has external debt about 7 times that of nigeria !

south africa's external debt is about $47 Billion

nigeria's external debt is $7 billion

both countries have dollar/other forex cash reserves about $50 billion

cash net-worth south africa about $3 billion

cash net-worth nigeria about $43 billion

the above means each south african citizen is truly worth $57, while each nigerian citizen is truly worth $243.

GDP does not show a country's real financial power. you cannot buy goods from europe/america/china and pay with your GDP, but you can pay with your dollar cash reserves, or your monthly cash flow

as usual, south africa is over-rated. subtract their external debt from their dollar/other forex reserve and south africa is cleary in deficit/negative funds. do same for nigeria and we have a surplus of about $40 billion

Nigeria is actually richer than South Africa.....by about $40 billion !

GDP per captia of SA is 6 times greater than nigeria.

Our budget is masive compared to nigeria

Our forghine reserve are about the same only we have 1/3 nigerias populastion

The rand is the most traded african currency

We are a middel income country where nigeria is low income country.

You are now once again(like allways) resorting to miss infomastion.

You started being involved in africas issues just when thabo mbeki became president. Thats too short of a time to start maintaining a consistent and effective foreign policy on Africa's issues.

Truth is; SA is naive about political issues on the continent. This is the reason i hope you do not dare confront Nigeria in anyway that we feel threatened. Otherwise, you will come to see that you are still far off when it comes to Africas politics.

May be you would like to take a look at this thread i created.

souldust: @andrewza Nigeria is more pro Africas independence than anyone else.

have you nationalised any multinational company for anyother african country?

have you spent your hard earned money on other countries without getting anything in return?

Have you ever preserved africas culture and philosophy in any way? I bring this in becos, independence is not only political and economical, it is also philosophical and cultural. A people will continue being slaves no matter their economic advancement if their culture and philosophy is completely eroded.

Nigeria has done all of these for Africa.
We nationalised BP for you sake in SA, we spent our money in liberating other parts of africa without getting anything in return. We have judges and military chiefs serving and have served in other African countries.

Through our literary arts and entertainment, we helped preserve the continents culture and philosophy. We told our stories ourselves and we have proven to the world that we are a people and not just some animals existing some where in a famous map.
Then why the support of france rulling your region.

Why would we do that. What dose that achieve.

Yes we have. SA is the laargest donar nastion in africa.

Yes we have. In a number of countries. Including malil.

Well, how could one expect less from a xenophobic Afrikaan chef that said "I just don't like nigerians". undecided undecided undecided
How did I insinuate that nigerias did not partake in WW2 or any other war. I just pointed out that you where not independed. So had no choice.

And I am not a chef or afrikaans.

homerac7: can you now see why I beeen say you dey CRASE? undecided

again, you still think you can drag me into protracted fooolish argument by shifting "goal post" as you did to Augugust who thought he was "teaching" a normal person? ...again, YOU DEY CRASE! angry initially, you insinuated that Nigeria didn't participate in WW1&2 + Korean War, when I showed you otherwise, you are asking under whose banner they fought and if they were truly in Korea? MAKE THUNDER FIRE THAT YOUR HAND WEY YOU CARRY TYPE THAT RUBBISH! angry angry angry

So because I stated that Nigeria gets consulted by major powers on security in Africa, you want to die abi? weel, you had better hug a wet transformer because it it TRUE and FACTUAL, and there's nothing you or your country can do about it! cool cool cool

Hey! ...why again did your president time his "fence mending" visit to Nigeria right after your SELEKA whoozing? grin grin grin grin

On your opinion of Nigerians, who gives a rat arse about what a mumu xenophobic cook thinks, huh? undecided undecided undecided

PROUDLY NAIJA ALWAYS cool cool cool

South Africans can go eat shiit and die for all we care! grin grin grin
When did I say nigerians never took part. I just point out that nigeria was not a independed country.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 8:41am On May 05, 2013
homerac7: you dey crase! angry Do you really want us to go down that back? You insult the honour and blessed memory of our WW1&2 + Korean War vets and ask not to be called an idiota? Have you heard Dodan Barracks before? ...oh, sorry I forgot that you are a low level cook confined to galley all year long. Well, our vets won the battle of Dodan in the Asia theatre of WW2. Burma theatre was fought by our vets alongside Indians and Pakis. We have the war memories all over here in Nigeria and Asia. Unknown soldier cenotaphs, Barracks and cantonements named in their honour and memory of battles won. Korea war bequeated us vets who fought in Nigerian civil war, one of the names still alive is Col. Joe Achuzie who faught as an officer there. Then Congo vets too. Calling up Lebanon vets will be under peace keeping missions which happened while you were in darkness of apartheid.

Now, who is the learner if not South Africa? For you not to know that NA fought in all those wars buttresses my earlier statement that you are obstinately fooooolish and ignorant. So when the major power consult Nigeria on military matters in Africa, you think na joke? of course, your xenophobic brains can't take it, so to become overnight superstar you guys JUMPED into CAR...GBOSA!...GBOSA!!...GBOSA!!!...you were b1tchslapped by SELEKA and next, you skunked off with your tails between your legs like the true cowards that you are.

you can but the fanciest weapons, but never institution operation experience. Egypt and Syria had much better weapons both in number and fancifulness, but they were pile of scraps after 6 days war with Israel. what does that teach your military planners? Ozhuo! angry

Then, you denying your military failed in CAR is stupeeed. much earlier in the thread, I, my very own self, showed you a link which shows minutes of your South African parliament's sitting on the very matter with your minister of defence in attendance. All parliamentarians were visibly angry and agreed that your military was soundly defeated by SELEKA and your government lied about it to the public. Your honourable (?) minister was cornered after she started with same lies you, Andrewza, has been peddling here. She started playing hide and seek with them and finally refused to talk further after hiding behind "issues of national security". I referred you to it but you refused to read and was coming back with other propaganda sites reports.

Now, can you see how silly you are? undecided
What vets. What did you really achieve in those 3 wars. Where you even in korea. In actuall fact you where a collony so fell under britsh comoand. Your solders where in a sense grunts. Any case I never siade nigeria did not take part in WW2 I know full while they where there.

I am not a chef. But even if I was that dose not mean I would feel insulted. Chefs don't just cook food they have a number of combat ornated jobs in the navy. And by the way my post is that of a combat operatore and my mustring seamanship.

When has amy one consolted nigeria on any thing. Your country is a joke. You seas full of pirats. So please. Your entire country is a sad joke. That is why people are runing away from thete to come to SA.

And I am not xenophibic. I just don't like nigerians. Your argonat, boastfull, ignorant and fools.

agaugust: first proof: the videos we posted proved south african army was defeated.

second proof: the Seleka rebels are in control of CAR zone where south africa was once deployed, driving around in south african army vehicles captured, and south african army is on the way back home after France (same france you hate and ran to for help) saved the lives of your remaining cowards.

south africa has NO divine military destiny of greatness, you will never be great, its NOT written in your destiny. stop day dreaming.

see photo of the AK-47 carrying rag tag bush boy local rebel that defeated south african army masters of photgraphy display with modern rifles and beautiful weapons on internet. this kid will K.ill @andrewza ! believe !

They don't show that.

Yes we left and seeleka took over. We left because in order to stay we need a mandate. And there was no mandate.

I explianded the car issue. And unarmord landcruisers are not much to bother over. All so no french forces helped us. We fought seelka to a stand still and then left after a cease fire. Not even seelka denia this.

What dose god have to do with this.

There is no proof that solder took part in any fighting. All thoe that took part where in uniforms.

You just makeing your self look like a bigger and bigger fool.

little boys defeat south african army in combat

these are some of the untrained little boys Seleka rebels that uprooted the whole modern south african army in CAR war zone, and took over the uniforms and combat vehicles of the most over-rated cowardly army in African history....South African National Defense Forces (army of south africa)

agaugust: how strong is south africa ? see your president zuma crying after Seleka child soldiers defeated south african army. how strong is south africa as a nation ?

That pic is from july 2011. And even if zuma did cry it shows he is sorry for loss. Is good luck a cold hearted man then.
