Only oil investors are pumping masive cash in to nigeria. And they rob that money from nigeria paying the guys on top to turn a blind eye.

200 SA solders held there ground even though they where heavly out numberd. Lowest estermats are 1000 highest are 3000 enemy rebels attacked the SA base. SA had no support or heavy wepaons just light infantry wepaons and company level support. The rebels actualy out gunned the SA.

Most losses to SA seem to have accord out side the base at a road block.

Total SA losses 13kIA 1MIA 27WIA. Enemy losses. Arround 500.

The rebels broke of the attack and there is now a cease fire. SA has evaced all the dead and wounded and bolsterd the force in CAR.

GreenandGold: We had a vehicle like this, we donated it to Swaziland and the rest were recycled, its called the Eland.
While the Eland was just a modified and upgraded AML and the saiger is the next version of the AML. Hence it looks so sinnlare to the AML/eland and has a simlare wepaons. The rooikat is the far better option. Has a better fire power, better protecstion and better mobilty.

(Yes the roikat 76 is better than the french 90mm in a AT role though the 90mm is better in a Anti personal role)

The thing is CAR army was a joke. If 200 SA solders could hold there ground how could the few thousand CAR army not. The fact is CAR was doomend to fall because her solders where cowards.

This will not happen in nigeria any time soon. Nigerias army actually has heavy wepaons(APC, IFV, tanks) and air support. One Hind attack chopper stopped the rebel advance untile it was suot down. Nigeria has a lot more than one Hind. This type of reblion will not happen. Though there are other types.

200 solders is not a heavy presence. And they still there. They never ran away like the CAR army and presdent. 13(14) men died for that man and for nothing.

agaugust: nigerian army sagaie armoured vehicle with 90mm gun, amphibious and all terrain vehicle with anti-tank shells, in mali for operations. most people dont remember the nigerian army sagaie force of 46 units purchased from france.
It may have anti tank rounds but I doubt they would carry man if any in malil. AT rounds are either HEAT or Sabot. HEAT has a very focuces blast and of littel use against dimount infantry. Sabot has ne exsplovis. If they in Maili they would use HE, HE-frag and canster.

Are they in malili. Or is it your opion they there.

While they are french.

You might want to find out what the details of the MOU on defence which junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viola Onwuliri signed with the Ukrainians during her visit to Kiev in August 2011.

you will also find in professor omo omoruyi's publication below that ex-president obasanjo has habit of signing anything he wanted without consulting nigerians, he signed a defence deal with ukarine about 2002 or so and never released details to the public, and he signed bakassi peninsula away to cameroun.

It would be good if you say what the pact intails because has far had I know Amrica is helping Nigeria train in counter terrosim
(because they don't want nigerias oil flow to be interupted)
And helping with the C130(making money for them in the procces)

PoliticsRe: Adamawa Prisons Attacked,127 Inmates Freed by andrewza: 8:48pm On Mar 24, 2013
BADNEAT: The Nigerian Prison Service has confirmed the killing of the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Ganye Prison, Adamawa state, Baba Musa.

This disclosure was made by the Prison Comptroller in the state, Mr. Andrew Barka.

He said that a total of 127 prison inmates were freed in Friday’s attack on the facility, adding that “We lost a deputy comptroller, Baba Musa, in the attack and some parts of the prison were also destroyed.’’

Also on Sunday, the Police confirmed that 25 persons, including a policeman were killed in the attack.

Heavily armed gunmen had attacked the town on Friday evening for over two hours, using explosives, rocket launchers and machine guns on residents.

The Adamawa state Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Ibrahim, on Sunday in Yola said men of the command were overpowered by the bandits who arrived the border town with more sophisticated weapons.

“Thirteen places were attacked, including the Divisional Police Station, DPO’s house, prison, beer palour, bank, library and courts,” he said.

In the meantime, none of the attackers have been arrested.RBH
Is this just crimnal or are rebel movents involved.

ganye1: Actually some of them went back to the prison and inform the prison officials that they are ready to come back whenever the prison officials are ready o take them back .
Are nigerian prisons that good.

By the way off topic. Check out the prisons in finnland and sweden. No wonder no one tries to break out. It like a 5 star hotel.

CAMEROONPRIDE: The rebels are not going to kill the civilians, there is nothing to fight for, SA and France should go flex their muscle somewhere else
France is not worried about the rebels. But evey battel is followed by looters. So france is just there to protected against looters and control the air port.

SA may withdraw. No real point in staying. The CAR ran away. Yes SA could easly drive the rebels out but the cost (both money, our lives and civlian lives) would not be worth it.

Some times the best action is inaction.

Henry120: Ok, I'm wrong on two counts, however I don't really see france doing any meaningful thing now.

The man has already fled his country, lmao, pathetic.
France is there to proteced 1200 civlians (the true rullers of CAR) they have 1 solder for every 2 civlians now.

Why should we fight for his land if he won't himself.

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 7:34pm On Mar 24, 2013
Henry120: To be honest, I think south africa, your army needs to ramp up troop numbers. Just 200 troops would definitely leave personnel vulnerable to attack.

2ndly, south africa's mandate in CAR is not defined. Are they(troops) supposed to engage rebels, are they nothuh UN missions end up causing more bloodshed, than stopping them. Look at DRC. This has always been the problem with UN missions. This is the same reason why GEJ refused to send troops to somalia.

The president, a coward, also came into power through a rebellion. He deliberately left his army ill-prepared, under payed and ill-equipped. Acting as if we are still stork in 1970's africa . This is giving the media in the west additional gun-powder to rain insults on the african continent, immediately after mali and DRC.

My hope is that south african, gabonese, camerounian and ugandan troops on the ground can get a hold of the situation without international help. South africa and uganda should have at least a battalion of troops in CAR, then gabon and cameroun should contribute 400 and 550 troops respectively.
South africas numbers are 400 plus. But they where never ment to hold the line against 2000 rebels has CAR army ran away.

They notb there under UN/AU or any mandate. They a indpendent force.

He all ways had france to bail him.

Don't see a point now.

all4naija: That first paragraph is actually meant for Synergy. So, stop acting foolish by calling me a fool!

Food shortage is all over Africa. Nigeria as well sustain the neighboring countries with food. Even China sometimes have problem of food production and that doesn't mean it is not progressing.

Then stop being foolish

And nigeria has been repoted of haveing a major looming food crisis
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:41pm On Mar 24, 2013
Henry120: There is no prove to show that nigerian troops are idle in mali. 966 men cannot be sitting idly in mali.

I know that the airforce alpha jets have been carrying out recce missions in mali.

We know that some nigerian troops are stationed along the mali-mauritania border. Other than that their has been a media black out in mali, so we cannot say for sure whether the troops in mali are idle or doing something.

Some news outlets have been reporting that, as high as 12 south african soldiers might have been killed in CAR( may their souls rest in peace), the presidential palace has been surrounded by seleka rebels and the president has fled. The rebels also shot down a CAR attack helicopter.

Back to mali, when french troops leave the country this APRIL, operations would be handed over to AFISMA troops. Nigeria recently purchased 35 MRAPS to help provide heavy suppressing firepower and to help transport troops. Nigerian panhard Sagie's are already on ground. Since nigeria never leaves anywhere without our pick-up trucks, the pick up trucks are currently been up armoured by PROFORCE ( the nigerian company that I had earlier posted photos of their red up armoured trucks).

Again back to the operation in mali, french and chadian forces liberated some towns without even firing a single shot( however troops from france, chad and mali have been experiencing heavy fighting in the mountainous areas of mali). Most of the rebels disappeared into the deserts, from their, they regrouped and launched surprise attacks, including 7 suicide bomb attacks( by my last count) on troops.

For me the overriding problem is that, we havn't been getting any images lately or even prints to gauge how nigerian troops are doing in mali.

There is no doubt in my mind that afisma troops would face the greater challenges, as the operation in mali is gradually turning into a deadly insurgency.
I never siad inactive. I siad not on the front line. So far all reports are of france

Yes I bielf NAF has been active

Full numbers are yet to reported. Reports are from 2 to 12. Still waiting for full detials. Yes they shot down CAR hind with HMG fire. All though there is still SAAF helicopters in the area.

Mali will become a big mess for Ecomog and bleed them for a long time.

Foreign AffairsRe: Where Would South Africa Be Without White People? by andrewza: 9:13am On Mar 24, 2013
all4naija: The most annoying things about your comment is you as Zulu that has nothing to contribute to the development of SA is claiming everything and forget the world highest inequality in your society. Black South Africans are still suffering like Nigerians, even, so worst off than Nigerians in many cases.

Nigeria is rich in natural resources which have been mismanaged by the leaders not by outsiders. We don't blame outsiders for our problems like South Africans do. There is no country that doesn't import Agricultural products. Even, your over-exaggerated country do import Agricultural products. We export to places in Asian Agricultural products, that explains what trade is all about, buying and selling of goods and service. I am beginning to feel perturbed about your claim of making SA looks as a nation that doesn't import any Agricultural product.

Whatever you think about Nigerian economy is based on your little knowledge about Nigeria. There is no need to start arguing with somebody who is very ignorant of the Nigerian economy potentials. It is a gradual process to make it works. When the people finally get it right the country will be another China in the making. So being pessimistic about Nigerian economy future by you is based on mere sentimentality. That doesn't say anything about what is reality on ground.

SA is a country developed by the white and own by whites. You are just another slave who is trying to act up. You are just another wannabee who is serving his white masters interest and be given peanut for return at the end. There is Marakina waiting for you to fight for. I would advise you to do it with civility because white people don't like primitive human beings going about like rabid dogs.
What is with you and the zulu. Did a zulu rape you or somthing.

We don't blame people for our problems. Just one of our problems is the massive amount of forghners in our country. Nigeria has masive food problems. SA buys out of sessieon food.

This is nigeria economy

You still have yet to anserw the qustion. Other than a big popultsion what has MODERN Nigeria achieved.

75% or more of you work force works in agriculter. Yet you import food not export. Some report clam Nigeria may have a food crisis.

80% of your oil wealth is controlled by out siders (so who anserws to the white man SA or Nigeria)

Your econmic groth is fragil and miss leading. Your seinctest have achieved nothing in nigeria. Actually all the smart people in Nigeria are running away.

Capnd143: well to me! NIGERIA ALREADY HAS MORE POLITICAL,ECONOMIC AND MILITARY influence than any ecowas nation, so it wouldnt be a big deal if we gave other ecowas nation a sense of leadership and more participation in the decision making process. Imagine . . If nigeria should oppose a motion. That means the motion is automaticaly no go area! As much as it makes us feel powerful but the others should have more powers too . . . .

NIGERIA OVER THE YEARs has shown no interest in leadership on AU bt rather, its more interested in influence . . . I guess that should be applied in the ecowas situation since it already ganers garguantuos influence. . . .just my opinion though.
Thing is even if nigeria gives up power it will mean nothing. Do you think Nigeria will let let's say Ghana order her troops around.
