souldust: whats the military doctrine of nigeria?Seems to be going for light infantry role. But that due to what they using. Nigeria has a larg tank force but there APC/IFV numbers are much lower than what SA has. If you look at south africas battlions only the Airborn and airassult are with out a patrol vechile. Every one else has some form of protected transport. Though it hard to get exeact numbers on nigeria based on there size and numbers of AFV mobilty is not there goal. But then nigeria dose not need to be has mobile. SA is a large country with fast areas of nothing and the rest of southern africa is the Same. Nigeria has not fought a war where they need to travel 1000kms. Depends. In the navy there lots to do on the ships. Pantting, cleaning, reparing conducting drills. Then there are duty watch who man the brow(the littel bridge from the shoar on to the ship) to inssure no unwanted people come on board. In land bases it much the same Then there are training you can do. We have regualer fire or fload exersizes to keep ready. The MRS(our marrines) will have been condacting traing on beach landings. Then there are people in the milltary who got all most reguler jobs. Store man have to do stock take and make sure every has ever thing they need (such has paint, clothis, wepaons, ammo extra). Chefs cook food. So it depenfs on your job and rank. Nigerias navy is going for a strong costal navy geard to fighting insurgents and pirats. Where SAN is going for a long rang navy geard towards long range patrols and geard towards deating any threat at sea. |
Capnd143: sorry my bad, the 97mm is 4 the NNS-Thunder warship. All other facts are correctI don't know. Any ASM would have to be of the smaller type allong with the torps. Has I siad it is Gun boat. A good gun boat but non the less a gun boat. More like our river class boats only faster. |
Capnd143: no am not saying we are the only ones bro. We ourselves(nigerian engineers) manufactured NNS-andoni 38meters prototype currently being deployed in the gulf of guninea. It fitted with advanced radar system, anti-ship missiles,torpedoes,97mm rapid fire guns, among others!97mm gun? You sure. NNS Andoni is IPV/Gun boat. |
souldust: @afroarab how did you get to know about this wesite?Doctrine is how a milltary uses what they have. And how they see and conduct war. Exampil SA is a mobilty focused milltary that focuse on range, speed, and relbilty. |
souldust: is it true we want to buy that plane? Which of the planes made by US or russia can you say the JF-17 is on the par with?many but for the price they good. the j7 are really bad air craft. you need a proper modern fighter. all so the j7 is a poor ground attack air craft. |
Capnd143: sorry some of this mods are really derranged! Anyway i wanted to ask what you knw about chinese built JF-17?I would get russian. Chinnes air craft are genraily ok but I still prever the russian stuff. Has for the answer some may want Both the SU27 and gripen are better than the JF-17. Of course you could buy a lot more JF17 than SU27 since the singel engine air craft are easyer to maintain. |
Project Biro is a plan to get up to 8 new OPVs(actualy corvets) and 6 IPVs(actauly OPVs) this plan has been going on for some time. Last year SAN asked for option this year they will give the short list a requast for a quote. Production will start 2014 and they should all be done 2018. All these ships will be build in SA hence the longer time frame Project saucepan is a SAAF project to replace there MPA this project has recied budget so is a actualy project and not a planded project. |
Why do nigerians think they the only one with hidden wepaons. SA builds many Wepaon sytems and has thousands of wepaons no longer used. Take the eland a south african modified AML scout car still in use by nigeria. SA had 1200 of these. Though many have been sold we still have 100s. Then there are the many wepaons produced in SA. |
Capnd143: Andrewza are u there?I am here. Got banded for some strang resone. |
Capnd143: your post is quite true bro, bt there are many other air facilities you dnt knw of! Nigerian air cheif aka cheif of air staff, air marshall alex sabundu baseh said The NAF had active bt undocumented air facilities across nigeria, if you have been to air bases in nigeria you would notice there are servicable choppers and jets in the bases (some of which the models i dnt knw). Even some high ranking officers dnt knw about some of them, this is because state govt which originaly is nt supposed to be involved in defense independently most times initiate policies and procure and repair weapons using ranking officers in the air force. ThanksBases are not the same has aircraft. More so since nigeria buys there's from other countries. |
Bazil: I think the person who came up with this idea, needs come and live in africa for an extended period of time , because its pretty obvious that he or she doesnt really know anything about Africa.Never mind africa. They don't know much about any thing. |
Bazil: From librebille ,They think you some other guy who made a second account now. |
While there actions are undeanbly wrong and they will face the law and jail time, witch is never fun for a cop. I would rather die than be a cop behind bars. The thing is how can Nigeria say South Africa has problems when in there own country both there milltary and poliece have done far worse things and unlike SA they don't get punished at all. People in glass houses should not throw rocks. |
4chi: South Africa is White boys land so you homeland living Zulus should shut the hell up.ten years down the line you'll be just another Zimbabwe or even worse.BE VERY AFRAIDYou don't know much do you The zulu people make up 22.7% and the Xhoas people 16% white people a 8.9% and tied for 4th place with the coloreds in terms of numbers based on culture, though there are 2 white groups English and Afrikaans i listed them together. |
Henry120: Nigeria has 4 super pumas in service, not 3i found out about only 3 Supper pumas still in serves. i did mention in serves now. using your new numbers i get this. 40 orxy carry 800 troops alone the entire SAAF helicopter fleet can carry 1026 troops. the entire NAF can carry 690 troops in there helicopters. 13 MI17 can carry 360 troops. |
bookface: You CAN'T sink a US carrier for many reasons!many air craft carriers where lost in war games. the missels are decinded to get through that defensive unbrealer. Witch they would. You don't need to sink the carrier to stop it. Give it a strong enough list and all flight operations are canceled. Basically it then becomes useless. WW2 battel ships where better armoured than carriers and they where sunk through brute force methods. if you hit it enough times it will sink. nothing is unsinkable Though America could deaft Iran in a war it will not a Iraq. Iran has a far more advance war machine than Iraq. Though most of america losses will be from a ground war, air and navel will see few losses. In the navel arean Irans biggest wepaon are her Subs and sea mines. If the USN comes to close it could come under attack from swarms of fast small boats. In the Air most losses will be from air defense with litel or none from the irans air force |
CAMEROONPRIDE: oo gawd they brought there military talk hereYes we have. |
A look at SA and Nigeria helicopter fleet. Sa operates 40 Oryx with a 3 man crew it can carry 20 fully loaded troops and has a take of weight of 8000 KGs. A combat range of 303km and a 2000km maxw range. armend with 2 7.62mm door guns. 4 BK 117 1 crew and 7 troops it has a take of weight of 3350kgs a 660km range 27 A109 LUH 2 crew and 6 troops it has a range of 935km max take of weight 3175kg 4 lynx super 300 2 crew plus 9 troops range is 685km max take of weight is 3530kg 12 rooivalk attack chopper Nigeria 13 A109 LUH same has SAAF 1 Augast 139 VIP transport 3 supper puma 2 crew 19 troops range 841km max take off weight 8600kg 3 MI7 3 crew and 30 troops range of 465km and a max take of weight of 13 000kg 5 puma 3 crew 16 troops range 580km max take off weight 7000km 12 MI34 1 or 2 crew and 2 passengers range 356km and max take of weight of 1450kg 9 hinds assault chopper 2 crew(plus 1 tech if needed) 8 troops range of 450km max take of weight of 12000kg This was only looking at each nations helicopter lift capabilities not combat capabilities. This was only for current in severs not to be purches or repaired. |
Capnd143: i cant get ur point exatcly.no point. I do not see a need to argue who is better. We have different needs from our militarises. I just want to show those what Nigeria's armour looks like. |
Henry120: Screw the thunder, it's a good multi-role jet though, but if we can get 24 SU-27's instead, then, this would be the best news I've heard all year. You can try |
Henry120: Even if we get 1 of the two, say, 24 SU-27's, that would be a massive boost for the airforce. Then throw in 12 YAK-130 light attack. Damn, we would surely be good to go.that would be a good buy. The yak 130 would be a good alpha jet replacement. |
Henry120: It was never going to be a nigeria only mission, remember we got 2 alpha jets, 2 MI-35p and 1 MI-24hind deployed to mali.while not every thing. They left the Heavy armour at home. |
Henry120: Now you are wrong, nigeria spends 3billion usd or 3.5 billion a year on defence, with last year been an exception where the FG spent 6 billion USD on security, minus the police. This is my source "Education took the lion share of the budget with an allocation of N426.53bn; Defence was allocated N348.91bn, while Nigeria Police got N319.65bn. Others include Health which was allocated N279.23bn, Works got N183.5bn, Agriculture and rural development got N81.41bn, while Power was allocated N74.26bn." http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/editorial/editorial/8741-nigeria-and-budget-2013. i rounded down to so my answer may be off |
Henry120: Andrewza, that is not a chinese rifle. I must first apologise for the poor quality of the photos, not my fault. They are TAVOR-21's. As you know, they are very popular in nigeria. The navy, secret service and the airforce use them.i am on my c ell phone. Was a small screen The AK used in Nigeria is a simple transition no retraining would be needed. Seems strange it has not been done |
last pic. Why is the air force getting the Chinese Bullpup assault rifles when the army is using the AK47/AKM. Not saying they good. I don't like bullpup rifles personal taste |
Henry120: Nigerian airforce personnel 300 of them in number have since began their mission in mali. Our alpha jets, looking like f-22's I must say have since began operations in mali.Lol at the F22 part Over all 2 alpha jet are to few if this was a Nigerian only mission. But they good Light attack aircraft and any Insurgent would not want to go up against one |
Henry120: Definitely, if we can get 18units of SU-27, another 12units of JF-17 thunder, our 13units of F-7 and our upgraded alpha jets, we would definitely rule african skies. The SU-30mki would not have been a bad choice though. All in all great news, if it's true. We have already placed orders for 9 MI-171sh terminator attack helos from russia, we have another 6 of a different variant on order. Our 3 up graded C-130's H stretch variant would come in later this month. 3 c-130's of which 2 are in mali and one is on permanent presidential duties ( flying the president's car and other logistics) are in service. So in total 6 C-130's in service by the end of this month.why would you get both SU27 and JF17 they in the same role. Is your deffense budget going to be increased because both the SU and JF are heavy on maintenance. |
solomon111: I heard a rumour from a fairly authoritative source that Nigeria is about to purchase 18 units of 97%brand-new SU-27 from russia at a price of $180million.18 su 27 will be a big boost to your air force. i wont say rule but be a big force. |
sweetcheecks: Stop beatting your own drum and get with the programme you can f***** off or using your language "VOETSEK" for all weAll so i am English not a boer Who said we want to rule the country again. how do we make SA look bad and try to get those who left to come bake Really how are we sabotaging the government. Millions of jobs while yes there are millions of white people in SA and we need jobs. Really never heard or seen that. |
sweetcheecks: Andrew you are talking crapppp. How many of your boeres or whities left SA after 1994 to europe and australia thinking SA will crumble into a pile of hot mass like Nigeria? When thatAround 3 million What you talking about PAC failed in every thing. They only a memory Zim under whit rules had sanction, people seem to forget that. Why don"t all you non South Africans Stay out of our airfares. |
