scipher: another slowpoke's opinion..SMH
It would be better if you said why you say that. For exampil. Your air foce is your weak link. Yes Ground based airdefese may be strong. But with can easly be knocked out. And will slow in attack down has the ground attack will be unwilling to adavance beyond the SAM unbrelare. A strong air force would be able to strike at your logist and break them. With out support any army will wither and die has it runs out of supplys, and gets suuronded. All so you will be unable to do the same. Since you would not last long in a air war.

The navy I would say has some strong points if it works allong side the army. But will strugel in independet operations. So it not weak. Just has a difrent role.

agaugust: badger vehicle is NOT on afficial south african army website and wikipedia also says it is not in service with you, not listed as an active service south african weapon so we cannot count what we cannot confirm on public information that the whole world can read, very simple. do you win court case without evidence that the judge can see ? you can confirm on internet wikipedia all the nigerian army force of almost 300 cobras and VBL, very simple to find.

nigerian army cobra and VBL force is not generally used as an APC force but rather as an IFV force. there is a difference between APC and IFV. nigerian army APC force is another separate powerful and large force of almost 600 armoured vehicles including made in nigeria Steyr 4K7FA-G127, MT-LB series, BTR-U series, MOWAG Piranha, and etc. see photo of MOWAG Piranha below.

APC is armoured personnel carrier, main use is to transport soldiers, nigerian army has about 600 APCs
IFV is infantry fighting vehicle, main use is for fire-power to destroy enemy weapons, nigerian army has about 300 IFVs

i have proved today from pages 34 to 35 of this thread/forum that the nigerian army is not the tiny and powerless black nation army that many people wrongly think, and south africa will not defeat us, swallow that fact msauza, you are not fighting a tiny weak country if you dare to fight nigeria. any person whose brain is not working properly can continue to argue about this fact and make a public fool of himself.
Trus me the badgers are here. They not all here and they still getting phased in. But the first badgers arrived some time in 2011. But I only saw them in early 2012. Rember they a new AFV so there is a lot of traing and doctrain that needs to be worked out.

Wether you use a APC in the IFV role dose not make it a IFV. They lack the fire power. Yes a Cobra with agm is power full but only vs tanks. A singe man with a hige powerd rifel will destroy collums of a AGM only force in any case. Most of your VAB, Cobras will be armed with Auto canons and MG's.
Rember the most common and some say best APC (still) the M113 has carried a lot more fire power than the VAB or COBRA. Such has Javlen fire and forget AGMS( even had one with a 105mm but that became a light tank progect). But no mater what they where called APC,s.

I never said you where a tiny black army. Only that we will defeat you. Not in an invasion but in a fight. The Ratel may be old but it is still the better IFV between a VAB and Cobra. It overs more protection from mines, can provide better suport for the grunts, is faster ober rough ground, and has a number of version for difrent roles. Eg a AGM version fireing Laser guided AGMs. A 90mm recon version. They have taken out T55 in Angola.
The motar carerir. 10km range fire suport.
Comand version. Can carry the entir comond team with all gear with his force.
The 20mm IFV. The 20 can destory light AFV (one even took out a T55 but that was a luck shot) and kill ifantry with easy.

All ratel have a number of adtional MG's and firing ports. This let's it put out a lot of fire while movieng at speed.

agaugust: the south african armoured vehiles you posted here are much older in age, older technology, slower in speed, and lack 100% amphibious deep river swim and float ability, compared to nigerian Cobra and VBL force, you cannot defeat nigerain missile firing european AFV with those. i have researched the whole south african army official website and you dont have any new technology AFV that can match nigeian army, we will blow up all your armour from a far away distance and you wont even see us aor know how we hit you with superior weapons.

and some of the vehicles you post here are not high- calibre AFV, more or less they are APC looking like some land-rover 4xd4 suv, maybe its the south african manufactured RG-31 MRAP that failed in afghanistan with ordinary home made explosive it was blown into pieces and 7 canadian soldiers died. you cannot challenge nigerian AFV with south african APC, your APC will be destroyed totally by seperior fire-power from the nigerian Cobras. i dont mean to offend but i want us to be honest here and not tell lies, the facts and truth is freely available to confirm on internet.
The badger is brad new and the most advance IFV out there with 100% amphibious ability.

Speed is not every thing. You can only go so fast before you can not shoot. I have post a number of AGM fited AFV in the past. It is not somthing alien to us and IFV all ways trump APC in straight out fire fight.

Home made bomb can be big

https://www.tiptoptens.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/The-Oklahoma-City-bombing.jpg

Tell you one thing i would rather drive over i mine in a RG31 than a vab or cobra.

The AFV of SA is the beter of the 2 and we have more experince in AFV v AFV battels.

Msauza: Aguagust- is that a joke or what? You ridicule our more advanced home grown technology as if you have something better. Bwahahaha!!! You are a clawn indeed. Admit it your armies are nothing compared to us in terms of both equipment and technology. How I wish you visit SA to come and see yourself.
wrong persone. It is just not modern. Never said it was bad. The chalnger 2, lepaord, M1, extra are from the 1980s. Just poiting it out.

scipher: we are talking about al qaeda linked groups not some small racists groups that "found bombs"
Hence we will not get BH. no crazy arabs
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 3:22pm On Jan 28, 2013
souldust: you cant deal with BH better if you were in our shoes. You think it is only a military solution that is required? I did an essay on it last semester and i can tell you, it is way more complicated than you think.

There is no time for me to start taking you through the history (which dates back into pre independence), causes and dimensions to terrorism in nigeria. Considering our demographics, history and prospects, the government is so careful dealing with all these problems so much so that its hands are tied behind it. This is the reason people like msauza think our military is incompetent.

All of our problems from the civil war in the east in the 60s to the kidnaping and armed robbery that followed also in the east, to the post election anullment violence 93 and OPC insurgency all in the west and in the 90s, to the ND militancy in the 90s to 2009 and BH in the north, all of these problems have only one root.....1914!
problem is we will never have a BH problem. Has i siad it is hard to hid a orginstion of that scal in a country like SA. Yes they could attack but they would be based out side our country. And we have had a number of major terrorist groups. The boermag where the last. They got one boming done before bieing shut down.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 3:16pm On Jan 28, 2013
souldust: @andrewza. We have a track record of moving quickly into conflicts. We did it in Dafur. We were the first to go there. But that was during OBJ's time. After he left, the next two presidents were more concerned with external matters +they are not ex-service.

At the time yar'adua took over, more nigerians were begining to become more aware of bad situations of things back home. So there was so much pressure that yar'adua almost didnt have a foreign policy. And Jonathan's policy is geared more at reciprocals. We have to benefit from every mission abroad.
i under stand not deployingf your full force. But you have units that are ment to be deployed fast. A single airborn battlion with a few light AFV may not sound like much. But it is.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 1:00pm On Jan 28, 2013
souldust: dis msauza na real ODE! If you were in our shoes, do you think you would do better? Do you think the BH issue is a military thing only? Even if it requires only the military, do you think it will be so easy for you to flush them out with the way they (BH) operate? So you will drop a nuke in that masanzi or what did you call it if BH were operating there? What about the Zulus holding spear and wooden shield and scantily dressed? Are you going to blow them up with BH? What crime have they commited? Becos they spread HIV and take so many wives?

To know that a lawyer is thinking like this is disturbing. That school you attended should be closed down.
A orginsation like BH will not last long in SA. They will fast become nothing more than a simply crimnal gang, be based out side and lauvh the attack from anoth country(aka ANC,PAC extra) or get destroyed.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 12:50pm On Jan 28, 2013
souldust: talking about mali mission. The french went there with the help of the british and canada. These two countries provided transport and logistics to the french troops. When NAIJA went there, it was with our own transport and logistics. No help from anyone. We have our c-130 and it took our boys there. We also have our fighters deployed there already which means, not only france will be in air. I know you dont know this becos there hasnt been any one motivating you to do research. I know you dont know the 130 becos e never land for ya village before
Problem is speed and numbers. The entier region is at fault but since Nigeria is all ways on about being the giant of Africa we hound you on it.

French troops where rushed in to mali in force. Larger numbers where deployed with all there gear. The only resone the french even deployed was because the local force was taking so long. You should have had at least a small force in mali months ago. Don't you guys have airborn/paratroopers.

Now let's compair that to SANDF with centrail africa. First sighn of troubel started the last week of 2012. By the first week of 2013 South Africa had boot on the ground. Excluding the troops there all ready. This show a big weakness in Nigeria Milltary. Your stragic speed.

7 soldiers killed as south african manufactured, canadian army RG-31 MRAP armoured vehicle Fail to Stop an ordinary home made explosive in Afghanistan.

Six Canadian soldiers and an Afghan interpreter were killed Wednesday as their RG-31 armored vehicle was hit by a Road Side Improvised Explosive device (RSIED) as they were returning form a mission, about 20 km south west of Kandahar in Southern Afghanistan. According to the Edmontonsun.com, Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan have long regarded the four-wheeled armored truck as the ultimate protection against such attacks. Until the latest attack, troops riding in the vehicle had often survived gunfire and roadside blasts with minor or no injuries. However, experts are questioning its ability to withstand more substantial threats. Until this fatal incident RG-31s demonstrated a high level of survivability against typical threats encountered in Iraq and Afghanistan. The vehicle is operated by US and Canadian forces. Four Canadian soldiers credited the Nyala RG-31 with saving their lives in a suicide attack in September 06. The vehicle was damaged, but the soldiers inside it were unscathed. However, a month later, the Canadians suffered the first fatality when one of the vehicles was penetrated killing the gunner.

i have said before that all these fancy looking 'fine face' weapons manufactured in south africa have not been well tested in real war battlefield, so all the photos south africans are posting here are for un-tested and over-rated so called new weapons that will disappoint them in the day of battle and they will then blame the devil or satan for their defeat like in the bush war with cuba !

south africa manufactures beautiful looking weapons with only average performance in battle ! we cannot even trust your so called rooivak helicopter gunship, i will rather fly my russian made battle tested Mi-35 Hind helicopter gunship, south african weapons can disappoint in real war, they have never been used to win any battle in history, so let every buyer beware, they are over-rated.
Only the West think MRAP(along with all the wepaons) are Mine or Bomb proof. Enough exsplosive will vaporise it. The thing is that it more liclky to surivie the blast. Same has Exsplosve reactive Aromre. There are RPG rounds that will go through ERA and the Ahbram tank armor behind it. I blame western media, western milltary propergander and ignorant public. Like the myth that the M1 is the best tank. Ignoraing that more of them where lost in the Iraq invasion than any other AVF and that it has no real Anti personl wepains for it's 120mm gun.

agaugust: south africa's biggest weapons manufacturer in heavy financial debt , DENEL in trouble

south africa is not so great as other africans are made to believe, i have always said that, it is a generally over-rated country and it has an over-rated military force and over-rated weapons manufacturing industry which can collapse as i predicted using soviet union as example of how government owned defence industry eventually crash.

my research is beginning to expose how the south africans on this forum overrate their country beyond what it really is, not so great. i was never deceived because i live and work in the USA and i know what makes a country great. south africa is a good country but not so great, read this....

Though Denel has comparable quality products, at lower prices, it has a continuous net loss on income and transition to democracy since 1994 is worrisome to buyers if the state will continue funding this loss. This might be the reason for Denel's most worrisome challenge, being the sale of the Rooivalk attack helicopter, which was developed at a cost of R1billion and after the losing of a contract from Turkey for $2 billion and other countries only mentioning interest, but no contract coming forth. The sale of the Rooivalk, which could be Denel's most profitable project, also threatens to be its largest loss ever.

Denl is in troubel. Bt like SASOL, Eskom, SAA, Banks it is part of our stargegic asserts. AKA protectd by goverment. The plan is to make it full under SANDF.

agaugust: for the ignorant and poorly informed south africans who say nigerian military have no rifles to match south african military rifles, i have listed the rifles and pistols nigerian army has in their armoury including american M-16 rifes.

i also want to prove wrong those who say nigeria does not manufacture great assault rifles, we manufacture the respected FN FAL assault rife in nigeria and i post the photos here. i listed here some fancy rifles nigerian army has but we dont want to use regularly becasue we are not if the business of fancy video and hollywood style movie making like south african miliatry, we are in the business of fighting wars and not acting or entertainment rambo style film making.

we have tested all those fancy rifles made in USA and europe, then we have chosen the one we want to use for continous firing and reliability in dusty and harsh battlefield environment with no risk of jamming after long hours of firing in comabt, and that choice is our own nigerian made AK-47 version called 0BJ-006 which has been modified with help from china to have better performance than the ordinary version. the better version is what you see in nigerian military photos, tested and tried and found very reliable, we chose AK-47 and we keep our fancy American M-16 rifles and Israeli TRAVOR rifles in the armoury, if we want them anytime we will use them.

Nigerian generals, admirals, and air marshals dont need assault rifle advice from south african army sergeants that post senseless comments on this forum. Fancy rifles are like Mercedes Benz cars needing too much maintenance, AK-47 is like Toyota cars most reliable in the world and respected.

all the above information can be found free on army recognition website or wikipedia to confirm, google it.
You use the travour for your speclio units. That is normal. SA SF can use what ever wepaon they want. Normal AK when operating alone or R4 when with other SANDF. This is to help them blend in. Even US SF use AK's for this resone.

FN is a good battel rifel. A tad heavy and useless on full auto but for long rang high rate of accuriat fire it is a great wepaon. SANDF use one in each squade on border patrol in case of Anaimal attack.

You have a lot of difrent side arms. I assum some are for SF styl units.

Is that the UZI from Israrel or the FN copy. Either way iy not that good for army use in Africa. It was faced out of genrail use in SA.

FN mag is one of the best LMG's out there. We used them till very recently. The SS77 is based on it. But is lighter and more compact.

MP5. It is germain and cost a lot but any compotent SF or swat styl unit will find it's size, weight, and high rate of fire a great tool in CQB.

Some intristing SANDF weapons.

Both 12.7mm 14.45mm and 20mm anti matrial rifels. Great for knocking out light AFV(basical any thing lighter than a T55. Though a 20mm has knocked one out. It was due to luck and from a auto cannon o a ratel. The gunner died when another T55 shot him) and high value targets eg Radar, C3 sytems, officers, extra. Not a genrail use wepaon. More a SF wepaon.

60mm patrol motar. Ammo is not common in the patrol due to size of the 60mm ammo but it a great force multplier.

40MGL(6 shot) same has the 40mm. Ammo is not falling from trees. But when you have to kill every body in a house. Nothing beats it. It has saved SA solders on peace keeping missions.

40MGL. Like a machine gun. Only better(less range though). A crew servis wepaon.
