He started crying saying i should please give him... To say the truth. 'i don't see any money'....

To cut the long story short... I ended up paying 37 thousand just because out of pity i gave the boy 3 thousand to find the rest... He insisted am the one who took the money... He went and report to his father who is a politician.... I ended up in police custody....

Oloriburuku boyfriend. His sex buddy was having an asthma attack and he did not know what to do? Up to the extent that he had to call you?

Ritzybeauty:
A friend called and was looking for a place to stay, I accepted because she was a lively and friendly person with a good personality but she never told me she had asthma, she invited her boyfriend when I wasn't around and in the process of their escapades, she was gasping for air and the guy had no idea what to do, he called me and I had to rush to get back home, it was hell that day because she nearly lost her life, we had to rush her to the hospital before she could be revived, I was so incensed but I thank God she survived if not It would have been a different story

We need more people to canvass for restructuring. Already Wike has started on the path to fiscal federalism, which is also restructuring. Thank God Lagos State has followed suit, hopefully more states especially SW started would follow too. States should have control over their resources, education, security, economy etc.

babaolofin:
The report is not fair to Bayelsa which is my adopted State. Until restructuring is done, Bayelsa cannot be fairly treated. Bayelsa is a State on the Ocean. I think only one Local government is on the mainland, the rest is on Island. Infrastructure is needed to link the local government together.

Norway's case is not applicable to Bayelsa. Norway population is less than Lagos Mainland but she makes more money from fishing than what Nigeria is making from crude oil. Norway has more oil than Nigeria, but not relying on oil. Bayelsa is not an independent State, rather, it is an exploited State in Nigeria.

even if Dangote was in a society that is "ruled by opinions and perceptions" eg USA, nothing would have happened. A divorced billionaire sleeping with one woman like that, and his buttocks is seen....... nobody would care.

So your Dangote example does not apply to what you were trying to say.

bukatyne:
Very true.

Dangote was just lucky that the Nigerian society is not yet ruled by opinions and perceptions else he might have been very hit negatively with his butt/orange towel saga.

I think young men need to be taught discipline, assertiveness, healthy self-esteem and self-control as a part of a compulsory coming of age rite.

1. i am not yet at that point where I can do that.
2. So, after reading my comment you came to that conclusion? Your reading comprehension must be very low.

omohayek:
1. What's stopping you from starting your own agritech company, since you believe there is a clear need there just waiting to be filled. Don't you want to get rich? Or is it that you lack the skills, and are simply ranting about things you know nothing about?

2. Your general argument makes absolutely no sense: it's like telling somebody to drop out of medical school to grow his own yams and rice on a subsistence plot, all in the name of "self-sufficiency". Nigeria is poor precisely because of your "self sufficiency" mindset, which leads its politicians to waste money on white elephant projects and braindead "empowerment" schemes that never lead anywhere, when they could have been concentrating on encouraging (or at least, getting out of the way of) the areas in which Nigeria has a genuine comparative advantage. "Self sufficiency" is the slogan of choice amongst those who are totally clueless about even the basics of economics, yet want to sound as if they're intelligent.

Mr man, please read what I typed to understand it.

The reason why I cancelled out everything you typed is because of the bolded.

That mentality would continue to make we southerners slaves to the northerners!

PeaceJoyLove:
[s]Oga, you made me laugh seriously. It's like you dont know the rapid development in Agriculture in Nigeria. Lol. Ndrip is not the first who provided drip. It is called drip irrigation system and I know the person who made it. If you want to buy drip in Nigeria, there are sellers. Do you hear me? And many other stuff used in Agric. If you want to be lectured and trained, I can. Lol.

Even there are guys using drones now. There are apps usef for detecting diseases. I know these people doing these things, and I know a lot sir.

But my point is this, use everything and anytning....the only place Agric makes sense is in the north. They are loyal. Will the tech guys be the ones to farm? Nope. But they always run into troubles dealing with farmers in south. They can still work with northern guys, but you know the political situation of the country at this moment. And if you look at all these tech founders, they are mostly southerners.

If you know you have faithful people, I can personally show you and teach you how to go about tomatoes, cucumbers, maize, and some other greens. And I will show you the market. I write a business plan also.

See, with tomatoes only, if you do it well with tech on 20 acres of land, do you know how much you can make? I am sound in it. Crates of tomatoes in major markets in Lagos (you will go there yourself and confirm...na open market and sell...no one will use magomago for you) is N10k. A good consultant or farmer knows when the prices are low and high. Average high price is N15k per crate. And if you use tech and manage it well, you willl 1,000 - 1600 crates per acre in 5 months plant cycle. A N10k, do you know what that is? Then, multiply that by 20 acres and see. Of course sales will run to 200million naira plus. Now, the question is that can you raise investment of N50 to N100 million naira to get started? And most of these agritech compromises. Let me not go into the details. Even individuals who have nice cash are doing it in the south. You must just know the problems and tackle them. That's all. And the most important issue is that you dont put anyone apart from yourself in charge. If you rely on any farm manager, you are in soup. Or you think you can sit down at home and send cash, you are playing with fire.

Tech or no tech, the first thing is proper monitoring and management. If I am going to farm, I put aside every other activities and focus only on it. I know that 5 months are for it. I fo us. I make my cash, and I go rest or travel abroad. Shikena!

You are right about the security of some states. But the states you mentioned apart from Ogun are all northern states. In my first comment on this thread, I lamented that southerners are jumping on the fintech bandwagon and ignoring agriculture(agritech).
That is wrong!

Another thing again that is wrong is how you framed your statement, "predominantly agrarian states - Plateau, Benue, Nasarrawa, Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Kogi, Ogun "

From that statement, are you trying to say that southern states don't have the capacity for agriculture?

Even if that was not your intention, the manner in which you framed it continues to feed into southern youths' mindset that agriculture is something for the north only, that agriculture is something for only illiterates and villagers.

That is wrong!

Gerrard59:
I've gone through NDrip's technology and it's revolutionary. However, unlike Fintech, Agritech needs physical presence in solving their problems. Currently, predominantly agrarian states - Plateau, Benue, Nasarrawa, Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Kogi, Ogun etc., - are plagued with incessant attacks by marauding Fulani Islamic terrorists who ransack farmlands and slaughter people within the area. No investor will want to put the VC's money (which isn't even theirs in the first place) into such unpredictable ventures.

The bolded,
please tell me where I said such in my comments.

SmartyPants:
So without agritech companies,we won't have agribusiness?

Agriculture is vastly different from finance in that, while there is a strong push towards paperless money and electronic transaction, agriculture always requires a physical product.

Thus, an expanding fintech industry shoukd not ever been seen to be a threat to agritech.

Besides, you have hands and a Brian of your own. Go and start your own agritech firm.
Business › Re: Prospa Raises $3.8 Million In Pre-Seed Round by angelfallz(m): 10:25am On Sep 09, 2021
Agritech is the use of technology and technological innovation to improve the efficiency and output of agricultural processes.

You are looking at agritech as two seperate things ie. tech guys and farmers(other forms of agriculture included) where the tech guy needs to approach the farmer to know what the problem is before he can produce a tech that can solve the farmer's problem.

Many of the guys that are doing fintech, that is Financial technology, how many of them know about banking, how many of them know about finance?
But they saw some of the problems of the banks and financial institutions and came up with solutions.

Lets assume you are a tech guy, you hear about some old women in a village somewhere in Benue who have to travel very long distances to sell their perishable food stuff eg tomatoes. if they don't sell it immediately it spoils and the women lose money.

As a tech guy you should be able to come up with a tech that can help these women safely store their perishable food stuff and still retain its freshness.
As a tech guy you should be able to come up with an innovation that can link these women to buyers directly.

Have you heard of N drip?
Its an Israeli innovation that is an alternative to flood irrigation. What is flood irrigation? Simply put, flood irrigation is the practice of flooding land with amazing amounts of water to grow crops.
You know that Israel is located in a place where water is a premium. So what happened? they developed an irrigation tech that uses less water and is cheaper than micro irrigation. Micro irrigation is another alternative to flood irrigation, but it is very expensive.

The man that developed this tech N-Drip is a professor. He is not a farmer. But he saw a problem in agriculture and provided a solution.

https://ndrip.com/

https://www.israel21c.org/8-israeli-inventions-for-greener-farming/

And finally some of the agritech in Nigeria that I have read about don't seem to really be providing tech solutions or innovations, unlike their Fintech counterparts, they are more like crowd funding enterprises.

PeaceJoyLove:
I didnt read your comment before I made mine. God bless you. Until dem knock down fintech and regulations start getting tougher and they start shouting government is when they will have sense.

My thing with Agritech is that it is not straight forward. The tech guys dont know anything about it. They have to depend on illiterates in the villages and scammers.

Agritech is no go area for now also cos the system is not so ok. Until there exist solutions for the problems. Solutions are what Agritech should produce, but they arent. Sorry bro. They are making their clients cry.

I would advise you go to Kaduna.

kingsolium:
Good morning house, pls I need your views and opinions on this subject matter.

Ok, I currently work with an FMCG Coy in Ibadan as an inventory officer where I earn N175k net on a monthly basis. It’s important to state here that I was living in Lagos prior to my getting this FMCG job.

So, I moved to Ibadan 2 months ago and currently put up with a friend in his apartment while I try to figure out how to move my stuffs to Ibadan on relocation basis. But along the line, I got a job with a big agricultural establishment affiliated to a multinational agricultural firm and I’m being offered N259k for a start excluding other benefits such as airtime(15k) which is different from my main salary.

Also note that the N259k is gross so my take home could be around N230k or thereabouts.

Now here’s the challenge. This new job is in Kaduna(the state capital) and I’ve not been to kaduna before. So, house what do you think about this. I need your candid, sincere and factual advice on this matter.

Thank you
