Monmarri: IELTS A1 and B1 Asstiance with Test of English
Please any that have done the IELTS exam for spouse visa should kindly put me through. My partner wants to process for the exam. Naric rejected her application bc she studied French language. Please dear house kindly put me through the process. Thank you. I also want to confirm if the exam is difficult or easy so that she prepares well. Thank you I’m sorry, please no vex. I just have a question: If the exam is hard, will you now tell her not to write it?I’m just curious o, no vex. Anyway, all the answers you need as to whether hard or easy or the needful process can be found on google and YouTube. You can easily google past questions or watch videos where people discuss the exams. Most people here have UK degrees or did courses that Naric could convert, so it will be hard for you to find answers. |

LagosismyHome: Really you were able to check in Heathrow with an expired passport ? Manchester. I showed the guy at the airline desk, he was asking me why I needed it I explained it was my ETC cos my passport was expired, then he said I didn’t need it as I was going to Nigeria and that he had even checked me in with the expired passport but since I had given him that document, to wait till he got clearance from his superior. He got up and left me there to go and ask his Oga whether he could use the doc. Lol No one asked me at Manchester or Istanbul. Just in Nigeria, and they asked me jokingly. |

EmmyKing86: So the Nigerian High Commission London is closed to the public indefinitely due to the lockdown in England.
This does not make any sense as people are still allowed to work. Moreover, embassy/consular services are still under essential services. Airports are still functioning. Closing services to the public will only increase the backlog of passport renewal which the commission is still struggling to rectify. One can even argue that the renewal of passports can be under legal responsibility as immigrants are obliged to maintain a valid international passport. Performing legal responsibilities is also permitted during the lockdown. I made my application on August 24th and it is evident that I might not renew before the end of the year.
Nigeria always finds a way to make things more complicated than it should be. Sorry sir. When you calm down, buy ticket and go to Nigeria to renew. That’s what I did. Nobody even asked me for my ETC sef until I got to Nigeria (and if I didn’t have it, I would have just asked them for plug to do my passport, then case settled). No vex too much- you suppose dey use to naija wahala. |

deebaby05: Yes, you are right cos i read on an immigration site that for ILR application, you need to present both B1 test of English and the Life in the UK test.
You are funny about donations ooo, me with my batallion need more than donations ooo, we need humanitarian aid abi na gofundme sef go good? Lord help us all! We'll get there. Immediately after i applied for the FLR, i started saving monthly using Loqbox and moneybox, don't want to start panicking close to that time and i need discipline else one thing or the other will keep taking the money out of my account. I like that idea of saving towards it. Before we reach that time and you hear that the fee is now 4K per person Shame is no longer catching them, they have seen desperate cows to milk |

It is shockingly low in UK for the effort needed As in! I think salaries are generally lower in the UK. I see what my colleagues are collecting in the US and Can. I personally would advise teaching over nursing unless it’s the persons passion. |

Chukwuka16: Actually remove ENG courses from that list. I think only medical based courses are that strict now and maybe law practice. I've seen non engineers with unusual first degrees jump into an engineering masters programme and then an engineering role and do some qualifications and achieve CENg status! The reverse is also the same and ongoing. Some even get into engineering roles with basic science qualifications and voila they become chartered. In fact someone (a Nigerian and working in Nigeria) I know achieved his CENg status here in the UK and doesn't have a first degree! He's a PhD holder but followed other means.
For the reverse, it's just having skill set in qualitative and quantitative analysis a well as theoretical understanding of key themes. The work environment is really crazy. I'm an engineer by training with a PhD in CS and yet my current role is purely social science/humanities/law.
What seems to be selling within the sciences, engineering and humanities now is skill rather than degree qualification. Of course all these are majorly happening outside of NIGERIA. You’re absolutely right. I only put Eng because I wanted to highlight the difficulty in being called an Engr without that first degree— I am aware that abroad Eng allows people to write exams to get that title. But it’s not so in Nigeria, Coren won’t let you in with an Eng first degree. All join sha! |

LagosismyHome: It doesnt matter what your first degree is in... if not what will be the point taking none nursing undergraduate then finishing masters and cannot practise. That would be totally pointless. and from begining schools wont offer that program to non nursing graduate
If you gain admission into a master in nursing eg Adult nursing program as long as the Course has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) .
On successful graduation you will be eligible to apply for registration with the NMC which is the ticket to practise within that specialization of nursing..... the program is designed to teach you regardless of what your undergrad is, what you need to know within that 2 years to register and practise . Some BSC nursing are the same 2 years as well and after that you are good to go Yeah you hit the nail on the head. Me I was even talking from the perspective that MSC doesn’t allow you to practice, it’s BSC that does— especially for specialised courses like Eng, Med, Nursing, etc |

Samadhii: Hello! Please, I really need advice and opinions on some sort of career counselling. I'm really confused right now.. I will really appreciate your responses.
Recently, I was fortunate to get someone to help me further my education in the UK (I've been researching on how to leave Nigeria for a while). Why I'm confused? --- I studied Biochemistry at undergraduate level and I want to further in a course that will guarantee me a job after my study(I plan to stay back after study)... I checked out the jobs high in demand over there and I came across health workers.. Now the question is what are the courses I can study at masters level and will guarantee me a job after study...
NB: I checked out nursing but the universities required nursing at degree level or prior experience... I checked out Clinical biochemistry but it doesn't seem to have enough prospects.....
Also, is there any health care course(nursing or related work) I can study within a year? The mental Health nursing I came across is 2years full time study
Please help I don’t even think you can work as a nurse with a masters in nursing. Most professions need you to have a bachelors in their degree to work. E.g my sister wants to become a lawyer, but she studied Intl Relations. Now, if she does a masters in law, they won’t let her practice. Masters is for research skill. Bachelors is truly want teaches you to practice. So she is prepping to study law again as undergrad. Meaning, if you want to become a nurse, you may need to study nursing as an undergrad. Anyway, this isn’t my field so take my words with a pinch of salt. |

Monmarri: Thank you. But do you know how long the passport process takes in the UK to be renewed and how much? Thank you It’s on the Nigerian high commission website. But you are expected to fill the form and make your payment on the Nigerian immigration website (the NHC website will tell you). Currently there’s a backlog at the NHC. They should be answering people that paid for July/Aug now, which means you will have to wait a bit till it’s your turn to do your application. Normally if it’s your turn, it will take a month. I went to Nigeria to get my passport done cos I couldn’t wait but now, flights have been grounded cos of the virus, so you may not be able to leave the Uk. Sorry. |

justwise: My point is..if i have £20-30K resting in my account as a Nigerian living in Nigeria right now..i will not invest that money in foreign education until a cure is found and economy stabilize The people making such investments know this. But if the UK is hard now, imagine how “harder” Nigeria is. You can’t even invest in a small shop because some thugs can loot your shop. You can’t invest in small medium business because Nigeria changes business regulations to favour the elite. You can’t even say you want to invest in forex, because SARS will say you’re yahoo yahoo. So what’s the use having that money in Nigeria if you can’t even do anything with it. I’ve always been against people coming here to study, until the post study. With the post study, there is hope. Whether it’s a menial job, or an actual job, there’s more Hope than in Nigeria where your employer will not pay you your salary for 4 months then fire you. |

You put in the OTP it whatever, and they still hold back the money. Just because they think it’s fraud or scam. Besides, to pay tuition, you must do a transfer not a payment. Is it right to be charged 1560 for the IHS of the flr(m) visa?
The same website says that it’s 400 per year. And the flr(m) is for 2.5 (right?), so I expected that I would pay £1000, not this £1560 that I’m seeing. |

LagosismyHome: The problem with the story is that its third hand gist ..... with third hand gist you never really know what exactly happened.
Freezing and then withdrawing funds long after payment and issuing of visa and CAS that really odd. Freezing for future or not letting a payment go yes that one I can understand ...
However I never worked in a bank so I learn new things everyday. So this really new to hear and then Barclays no try at all if this what happened. Yes I’m used to bank processes and I know why they flagged it. But this is so like Barclays, they have done this to friends before. Normally UK unis let you pay a certain percentage to get the CAS but you will be asked to pay the remaining 3k at a certain time (before uni starts). So it seems the lady must have sent the 3k and Barclays flagged it and stalled the transfer. Now rather than call to confirm, they just assumed it was fraudulent or scam. |

Let me keep quiet and be walking since my 5 years financial history is nothing and I’m now JJC. Someone is telling you about bank that makes life easy; bank that’s close to their customers, bank that’s usi nig technologies you bridge the gap.. but you’re talking about financial history and comparing those archaic banks that don’t know anything about empathy, relationship building and loyalty to challenger banks.
