Politics › Why so much hate? by Apina(op):
This will be the first thread i will create on this forum and its meant to address a pertinent and very disturbing issue which i feel is being promoted with little or no check, which is about the tribalistic slurs that have been allowed to rage on. The popular excuse given is that everyone is responsible for whatever they post which I believe is simply being complicit on the part of those with the power to put a stop to it.

I decided to create this thread after watching the movie "THE EICHMANN SHOW", which was the first ever record of stories on the Holocaust and these were the last words from the movie. I recommend this movie for all Nairalanders but would just drop the most inspiring and thought provoking words from it;

"For each of us who has ever felt that God created us better than any other human being has stood on the threshold where Eichmann once stood. And each of us who has allowed the shape of another person's nose or the colour of their skin, or the manner in which they worship their God to poison our feelings toward them has known the loss of reason that led Eichmann to his madness, For this was how it all began, with those who did these things"

To all those shouting unity beggar, This isn't a plea for unity by any means but a pointer to what such senseless hate can lead to.

you just shot youself in d foot with this ur response
Nope, not even close. Perhaps u don't understand what I'm saying. Let me for the last time put it to u.
Marriage has to do with two people becoming one and not three people. The child is a separate entity as I said but is being carried by his mother, though he doesn't participate in the the vow thing but marriage is two becoming one and not three. The church cannot marry or join together as is said d man his wife and the child on the altar.

TheUmbra:
So why doesn't the same principle apply to a pregnant woman exchanging marital vows with her bridegroom? As you rightly put it "the child though being in the womb of his mother is a separate entity. The child has no knowledge of whatever his or her parents are up to or actively participates,..."
Marriage has to do with two people becoming one and not three people. The child is a separate entity as I said but is being carried by his mother, though he doesn't participate in the she vow thing but its two becoming one and not three.

TheUmbra:
You're quite in the know that answering my question HONESTLY would render your postulation dead.

Since you claim marrying a man with a pregnant woman means the joining of three people, going by that principle, why would a husband sleeping with his pregnant wife not constitute joining himself to two other people, since sex is between two married people and not three?

And you say I jumped ship. When you operate on human wisdom and build your dogma from the foundation of arrogance and self-righteousness, you end up contradicting yourself and scriptures will puncture holes in your self-inflated righteousness.
As I said, the child though being in the womb of his mother is a separate entity. The child has no knowledge of whatever his or her parents are up to or actively participates, its simple common sense. Because the child is in the mothers womb doesn't mean d child gets to have sex with his parents or are u saying otherwise?

I have been waiting for someone to put forth this assertion of yours, and indeed here you are!

Now let me ask you;
Since scripture tells us that having sex joins us to the one we have sex with, does a husband having sex with his pregnant wife an abberation since he would be "joining himself to two people?
U have totally jumped ship. I conclusively said that wedding is not a matter of morals but a case of two people not three being joined together. Asking whether a man having sex with his pregnant wife being an aberration does not in anyway point to what I said. Having sex with his wife is different from being allowed to wed while pregnant.
Christianity Etc › Re: It Is Unchristian To Deprive A Couple Marriage On Account Of Pregnancy by Apina(m): 12:32pm On Jul 30, 2017
clefstone:
It is becoming a trend in many churches to refuse marriage to intending couples on account of pregnancy. It has become a common practice to undertake a pregnancy test before joining a couple in most of these churches. Those couple whose result come out as positive are then deprived from getting wedded. This practice is ungodly, unbiblical, unchristian and dangerous. I will highlight my points in the following paragraphs

The nature of God and the nature of man are distinct. One of God's nature is that of mercy, hence we frequently say GOD IS MERCIFUL. Now, a couple that get's pregnant before marriage have obviously committed the sin of fornication. However, if they have asked for forgiveness from God, who is merciful, who is man to deny them the privilege of a Christian marriage

THE SIN IS FORNICATION, NOT PREGNANCY. Now, let us look at it this way, couple A and couple B r seeking to get married. pregnancy test is done. couple A's result comes out as negative while couple B's comes out as positive. couple B is denied marriage while couple A is given the nod. Now, assuming that couple A has engaged in sex, it means that couple B is denied marriage, not because they committed fornication, but because they got pregnant. This leads to the question, is the sin pregnancy or the fornication that led to the pregnancy. Since the obvious answer is that the fornication is the sin, couples A and B ought to be disqualified. If this is done, I wonder how many couples will qualify for marriage. Reminds me of the psalmist who wrote, 'if you O Lord will mark our guilt, who will stand'. In this case, if you O lord will mark our sin, who will qualify for marriage.

THE DANGERS OF ABORTION.
Abortion is a grave sin synonymous with murder. The bible says 'thou shall not kill'. In the new testament, Christ said, 'woe unto those that will cause one of this little ones to sin. it will be better for a mill stone to be tied around his neck while he is cast to the sea'.
A direct result of insisting on a negative pregnancy test before marriage is that many young couples, for shame of being exposed and denied 'church wedding' abort their prenancies and wait for their results to come out as negative before presenting themselves for marriage. Some parents even take their children to abortion clinics just because of the stigma and shame. Until the emphasis is shifted from discouraging prenancy to discouraging premarital sex, such premeditated murder of unborn children will continue.

In summary, marriage is a union between a man and a woman, ordained by God. The same God is merciful and admonishes us not to judge. As christians we should therefore desist from using man's fallen nature to reason things of God such as marriage
It seems u are misinformed as to the reason why a pregnant woman isn't allowed to take the vows. Marriage is between two(2) people not three(3), the child is a separate being even though he/she is still in d womb. It's an aberration to wed a pregnant woman, if they practice it in ur church, tell them to stop. Its not a matter of morals as u are opining.

Who no like better thing! DNA test isn't as bad as painted, I don't see any reason y any woman should object to it. Kids do get switched @ birth among other reasons why taking one isn't a bad idea. Those playing the trust card, if d woman believes the child is his, y get angry @ d idea of taking the test?

Calling ur mum a cheat is simple justification for his own actions. Your father no longer has interest in your mum but what beats me is that he has chosen to neglect his children which is baffling. Or does he think he's gonna bury himself by himself? Instead of sending him that letter, instead remind him of the repercussions of what he's doing presently and the implications for posterity sake.

The Umudi Chiefs at the Traditional Ruler's Palace expressed their great shock over such "gross criminal act" in the church take over of their land.

An agreement doesn't necessarily have to be written to be valid. It would be stupid to go to court and claim someone "dashed" u money when he has instituted a suit for false declaration with an intent to extort, which I believe the court would most likely treat as a financial crime since money has been wired already. It would simply generate to a case of fraud

I've been in a relationship with this guy for 7 months and we've been good. I love him so much but I'm beginning to have second thoughts.

He rarely calls me and when I do he's either busy or he doesn't pick my call. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't want to call me back because until the next day I won't see any call from him.

I've told him about this issue several times that it feels like I'm bothering him about it and he just laugh over it like it's nothing. I don't know what to do anymore...

I know I'm being selfish by needing too much or expecting too much from him but I don't just like feeling like being neglected by the person I care about so much.

Please I need you guys' advice. Thank you!
I don't think it's as it seems. The pressure of being unemployed and the desire to hustle could make any guy lose touch with the things happening around them. Or don't u think he would like to make himself and whomever he chooses to be around comfortable to an extent? The economy is hard and it's really unsettling for even those who are gainfully employed talk more of one who isn't, abi no be money dem take dey buy recharge card call in the first place? If u really love him, bear with him, no condition is permanent, which means things will likely change for the better with time.

Whenever u think about marriage, she comes to mind for you, but can the same be said about her? I think u are just having a hangover from ur teenage love affair and nothing more. She knows she has a grip on you and that's why she doesn't feel threatened by any action you take cos deep within you are bound to run back to her.

SingleDad:
My girlfriend has gone mad again, she tried to poison my food.

Due to work and other major things, I have being busy for sometime now, therefore i had little time for her. Although she's so understanding, which i appreciate that.

Suddenly she kept on persisting that we should meet, she would like to come and visit me. In order not to make her feel sad, I had to respect her demands and fixed a date.

Finally, she came to my house and started accusing me of cheating, which i am not. I tried to calm her down, but she totally went off key. I tried forcing her to leave my house but she insisted. Just within a seconds she was creating a scene in my house. I had to allow her in stay, because she started crying. I guess i couldn't watch to see her cry.

Hours later, She was in the kitchen cooking, but my instinct kept on disturbing me to slowly walk in and check what's she's doing, probably to cuddle her, and praise her for taking care of me. Lo and Behold, I caught her washing her private part with water, and then pour it inside the Egusi soup she was cooking.

When it was time to eat, I refused to eat her food. She's even shouting on me for refusing to eat the food she took hours and energy to prepare for me. The next morning i asked her to leave my house, because i was supposed to travel that day.(I lied)

I refused picking her calls and replying her text messages. Her friends told her that, I am still around, she desperately visited me and was begging me to know what she did wrong.

What i really don't understand , is why she would prepare food for me with such water.

Please i need advice ? cry

ikechizoba:
I came from a staunch Catholic family, my dad is a knight, he has held many positions in various catholic association, right now he is down with partial stroke for the past nine years now.

In 2014, I got married to my Anglican husband with the full support from my parents, but my daddy's only sister, who lives in the village, was strongly against it,she fought our kinsmen when they secretly anchored our first for the fear of being reported to the church, threatening to report to the parish priest, saying that Catholics are not allowed to marry non Catholics in our village, she went ahead and reported l and my parents to the church.

Due to my dads condition, they couldn't go, so i went alone but was shocked at what the priest told me, he made me choose between the two churches, making it clear that if i wed in Anglican, that I have chosen darkness over light.

To cut the long story short, I successfully got married but my aunt made her own family and our kindred not to attend my traditional marriage, it was rather attended by the non Catholics, and also the church made my parents not to attend my white wedding, that if they attend, that they will not bury them when they die. But now, even without attending my white wedding, the church still insists that they will not bury my parents if they die since they allowed me to marry an Anglican, except if they openly apologize to the whole church.

My question is apologize for what? Please am not trying to paint catholic black, I was a devoted catholic even till now, but this?? pls NL, I need the address to the head of catholic church in Nigeria,I need answer to this please question
It's really a pity that you had to bring such a sensitive issue Down here for every dick and harry who has little or no knowledge of how things are done in the church to advise U on what they don't know about. I won't blame just the priest, I also blame u for not knowing what's obtainable cos if u do, by now u would have called his threats bluff. Ur parents are practising Catholics and the priest cannot deny them the last rites, his light and darkness comparison was uncalled for even if it was to dissuade u. I believe he's not the only priest in the diocese, there are others who would gladly do the needful. U saying they all think alike(Priests) is wrong, u are just bothering Urself for no reason.
