HospitalityDiva:Why are there so few self-catering accommodation in Lagos? Or extremely exorbitant daily rate? In most cities today booking.com & airbnb have such excellent accommodation. From Paris to New York to Sydney. Godfather has said no to Ambode. Soon we will be wondering why were are "perambulating and still dey same same place." |
Dating an area girl is a no-no for me. If it crashes wahala. And neighbourhood gossip and all. Take her as good friend. Or one of you can move to another neighbourhood if you mean to date her. |
akintunde63:Lol, which means the economy cannot support the currency without being kept on life support by fixing currency rate. ![]() The market is not foolish. Investors know its vulnerability. So they invest in oil & gas that they know the West & Asia take away to refine & sell back to us: guaranteed market. It would make sense if we produced lots of goods and export them and keep our currency artificially weak like Chinese Renmibi. But we are keeping ours artificially strong to keep a facade of a better economy. While unable to attract FDI into sectors that create tangible economic growth and create jobs. Long & short of it is that Buhari promised a policy of $1 = 1 Naira without a clue of the dire consequences of it. ![]() |
Scandinavian02:This is the exact problem we are seeing, even in diaspora. People with hbp and diabetes are not taking their drugs. Many stopped because pastor told them they are healed and no need for drugs. Those pastors belong in jail. That's a topic for another day. They then have stroke or kidney failure, often fatal at the end. It is their poor families that suffer when they die or become seriously incapacitated. Faith without work is dead. |
edwardaigb:Thank God for you dude. What type of stroke was it? |
obailala:On $1 = 1 Naira we stand. So Buhari didn't know the economic effect of promising the above? So anyway you twist Buhari doesn't know what he's doing. Forget the tortoise & hare story of CBN being in charge. If our currency is truly worth anything or supported by the touted trade balance, why fix the rate? Let it trade freely to test it's mettle. That is what free market economy is about. Oh I forget, Buhari would rather run a Sharia economy. We have a negative balance. Only that the huge amount of smuggled imported goods do not enter official records anymore. |

Use and dump. |
ClassicMG:Voodoo economists will tell you that our weak currency has boosted export. ![]() As if we really export things that are competitive like industrial goods. China & others just need lots of our raw materials to satisfy their growing needs. All the contra-ban goods coming through Benin Republic & Niger of course don't make the list of import. |
Alighoda2:He will have to defect to APC first. Ideally SP should go to SS. I do not like Akpabio but he might just clinch it. He has experience too. However, I am not a fan of turning the senate into a retirement home for ex-governors no matter how young they are. Having being part of the bloated system for too long and benefited so immensely, I doubt their appetite for change to favour the masses. Oh wait, it seems Akpabio even lost his senatorial seat, judging by comments from this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5058606/like-yam-pdp-when-left ![]() |
senatepresido:I said it almost 4 years ago that Saraki did the best thing by taking SP position in 2015. He knew that as a Yoruba NC person, neither the North nor SW Yoruba actually wants him to have any big position. Both will always suck up to NC when it suits them to use NC politicians. So he took the highest position possible. He also skillfully retained it to the end despite all the threats that he will be toppled within 6 months. Despite all the executive power/DSS and Lagos APC faction shenanigans. Talk of making hay when the sun shines. ![]() He can leave front-line politics with much satisfaction. Oloye would be very proud of him. ![]() |
Sadly millions of kids do worse in 9ja. beggars, house girls and farm labourers. Luckily her technical skills could make her a proper engineer in years to come. |
lastempero:With the Sharia man that Buhari just appointed as acting CJ of the Supreme Court? You should know Nigeria better by now. I won't blame God if he has already given up on Nigeria. |
oilPUSSY: ![]() After what Buhari did to Pa Awo in 1983, it won't surprise me. Awo tacitly supported the move when Buhari overthrew Shagari. Because Awo protested that both 1979 & 1983 elections were rigged by NPN. Yet Buhari soon seized Awo's international passport and got the military governor (Cmdr M. B. Otiko) of Ondo State to change Obafemi Owolowo University to Ondo State University. They now call it Adekunle Ajasin University. But indomie kids will believe Ife is the first university named after Obafemi Awolowo. ![]() Remember too that MKO also first applauded Abacha's coup. We even have a pic of MKO with Abacha & Bola Tinubu in the background of the pic. We now know how it all ended. Buhari was PTDF chairman under Abacha. ![]() |
I wonder how Seun & his goons didn't ban you for this topic. They banned me for much less. ![]() Tinubu cannot say he's not aware of Buhari's nature, so he has to accept whatever he gets. Maybe Babalawo/Marabout has told Tinubu to be patient and wait for Bubu to die so that his boy Osinbajo can become president. Osinbajo should prepare for more serious antagonism from El-Rufai who desperately wants to succeed Buhari by hook or by crook. Ribadu is gradually coming out of hibernation after Buhari warn election. He will slug it out with El-Rufai to succeed Jonathan. First let us wait for the drama that NASS will inevitably bring in June as Lagos faction & Kaduna Mafia/Cabal fight to control NASS. ![]() |
oilPUSSY:Can you imagine? How on earth are you going to agree with such a medieval mindset so prevalent over there about progressive views for Nigeria? It will never happen. Just as Jonathan was building schools there, they unleashed Boko Haram (Western education is forbidden) on his regime. One can clearly see the correlation. I fully support GEJ building those schools, agric promotion, railway & universities. At least no sane mind can claim that GEJ lost 2015 election because he completely ignored the poor North. If anything it exposes yet again the fact that the North are focused on a religious and political power domination agenda, not collective progress. |
badboywizzy: ![]() After all Buhari has been creating 30 million jobs. It should be easy to get a better NEXT LEVEL job. The story sounds implausible. Unless he was displaying zombitic agbero-ism & fanaticism at work. |
No serious doc will risk his livelihood and reputation for such nonsense. Medicine probably has one of the most stringent conduct & ethics standards of any profession. It is hammered into the student's head from day 1. Sure, doctors are human too and a few will deviate from the right path. But that's a very minuscule number. If you do not tolerate a doctor's undue romantic attention, he will soon adjust himself. I need to say that the average doctor doesn't have serious problems getting a nice woman. In fact more often than not, a doc has to beware of female attention. |
victvames:I can tell you that thing was most certainly inflated. Being a civil servant (Ogun State College of Education) thing. Unless the owner only used their office address. Just over three years earlier my cousins bought their Yamaha 80 each for less than 400 Naira. Two years earlier in 1981 my aunt bought a Beetle/tortoise /Ijapa car for under 3000 Naira. I saw a Singer sewing machine bought for about 1200 Naira in 1988 (after IBB's SAP that devalued the Naira). |
Sharon, Oranmiyan did not fight any war in Edo. It is not in any of our Chronicles in Edo. It was a peaceful coming, even requested by Edo people. Such abound in history. George I of England was brought from Germany (being partly related to the Stuart Dynasty of England) through his mother Electress Sophia of Hanover. In fact the palace of the Duke's daughter he married in Egor (a village then but now a Benin-City quarter) is still there with Ogiegor direct line Duke still in that palace. Otherwise very good posts on travel generally. You can try travel-blogging. |
Lol. |
Foodforthought:Abi o. That is the joy of it. The rain falls on everyone & the sun shines on everyone too. No APC Oja-Oba or PDP Main Market. ![]() After 8 years, we will see if the policies have moved Nigeria forward more than PDP's previous 8 years. 8 years would be a reasonable time to compare notes. But I know many professionals in Nigeria who dreaded this election result, because of the previous four years. All getting set to leave. Concerned for their children's future. Brain drain will increase. The taste of the pudding is in the eating. Time will tell. Oh, wait a minute: relocation threads have already started. Check this out on Nairaland: https://www.nairaland.com/5047756/which-country-relocate-6million Lol. ![]() |
Foodforthought:Lol. They will still blame Dame Patience Jonathan & Saraki for their failure in govt. Next level of blame loading. ![]() |
A good foundation for IT. Especially if you already have a flair for it. Do computing certifications. |
She will be found by God's grace OP. Try to understand her routine. Especially in the evening. Check her friends, social media contacts...And any boyfriend. Time is of the essence. |
ebuka10box:Look, the Core North & most of the South have different world views. The masses of the North are quite happy with medieval religious feudalism. While the South want modernity. The educated Northern elite know that modernity is the future. But they know that their masses deliberately left uneducated (to make them easier to control) are not ready for that and they happily exploit it. But their own (elite) kids are educated in fine schools abroad. With time, Southern elite sucking up to Northern elite for political relevance will lose control of the Southern masses. More separatist groups will spring up in the South. Be it over resource control, marginalisation, environmental degradation, highhandedness of FG, etc.. Since elite kids & grand-kids are safely tucked away in mansions abroad, the elite will resist separation (to keep their hold on power). Thus we will sleep-walk into monumental crisis and possibly war on several fronts. The North could then draft Boko Haram & killer Herdsmen (who know Southern terrain well) veterans into Northern army. Many here will call me prophet of doom or IPOB. But anyone fairly conversant with world history, especially multi-ethnic & multi-religious societies and recent African history can easily see the logic. |
Ugosample:Many zombies here think it's about party or tribe. Fact is the masses suffer and will suffer more. Because many of them have never enjoyed the environment of civilised politics, never voted in a proper democracy, they still wallow in primitive sentiments. If Nigerian institutions and system were working, nobody would care who wins. as the strong institutions would ensure governance work. In reality, I have very little to lose if things go downwards as they have in the last 4 years. Having lived through Buhari's 20 years military regime, I adjusted my investment in Nigeria. A moved that was inspired and saved me trouble as policy somersaults came in quick succession after May 2015. As many are already used to suffering and smiling, let them continue. |
Ugosample:Not surprised. Go to immigration threads all over the internet. See Nigerians seeking relocation advice. So of the most die-hard "I'm not leaving Nigeria, I 'm making it big here in 9ja, I just bough a brand new car" gang of before, are packing their bags as we speak. Money is not everything. Social, security, economic and infrastructural of the whole society matter. And future of your children. Each time I visit 9ja, I see it getting worse & worse. Around 2008/2009 to 2014, there was some improvement. Especially roads & electricity. After the initial improvement of 1999 to about 2004. But in the last three years, it has been abysmal. We have never ever been burgled before. But our houses were burgled several times between 2016 & 2018. Rogues carting away valuable good. Not to mention herdsmen killing nationwide. I gave up farming as workers became to scared to go to farm. |
RIP. |
StarUp:Abi o. Na Kano kukuma get the highest number of almajiri. Like play like play, many promising and educated people will just leave 9ja gradually. Mostly almajiri, thugs, riggers, skull-miners/ritualists, yahoo and those too old to relocate will remain. I know several professionals just waiting for elections to be concluded before they begin packing their bags if status quo remains. The only curse is Lord Lugard curse. Mixing people of very different world views together. |
