MadCow1:. Lol: it could be short for Osaze or Osadebey. Hard to say. But a name such Alohaneke doesn't register. |
Eya. RIP. |
mfm04622:. Even if they caused problems, indiscriminate shooting is bad. Controlling them should be done cautiously. Back in the day, during holiday visits to the village, hunters and trappers used to hunt wild pigs, deers & antelopes easily. Traps caught many too. But now they are hard to come by. Those monitor lizards, it should be a crime killing them. Pork is widely available now to buy. |
Unlike pigs that produce up to 20 piglets per litter, those beautiful antelopes rarely produce more than one or two per litter. So they are really in serious danger of extinction. Unlike pigs/boar that eat lots of things, they are very picky herbivores and they need thick forests too. With deforestation, the risk is compounded. Our grandkids may never see living ones if we don't stop killing them. Chicken & catfish mass produced are becoming cheaper to buy now. We need to preserve these animals for tourism when we run out of oil/gas. |
Berium:. Abi o. The annoying thing for me was not that he said their pay wasn't enough, humans are naturally greedy and hardly anyone admits his salary is enough. It was the condescending manner he argued it. Painting the general public as not informed about NASS pay. Whose job is it to ensure transparency and inform the generally public about parliamentarians' pay? Shouldn't NASS be doing that? I used to like him especially for refusing that national award and the reasons he gave. |

boman2014:. Lol. Nothing new. Very common thing. I have heard elders settling such cases bwtween husbands & wives in the past. Many ladies wait till konji hold their man before extracting promises or even cash. ![]() |

IYANGBALI:. It would depend on Buhari's ambitions. If he wants a second term in office, he will have to keep Tinubu & OBJ on his side. He would look at GEJ's problems in last election. If he thinks he's ok with just 4 years in office, he wouldn't mind offending people like Tinubu. But it's also about keeping power in the North for 8 years. So Northern politicians/establishment will find a way to accommodate potentially troublesome SW politicians, since that voting block is crucial. The downside is that in trying to accommodate some of these politicians and their ministerial appointees, GMB govt might not work too well, since ministers/cabinet can easily make or mar a regime. Hopefully Tinubu & GMB can fill key positions with people like Fashola. Economy, Anti-corruption, Finance, Power & Steel, Works, Petroleum, Agriculture, Education & Health portfolios will be crucial to success or failure. A department for economic diversification should be considered. Sovereign Wealth Fund/investment should be taken seriously. All those promises of free money for graduates don't make sense. We can't afford it for now. He should focus on free school meal for school kids. And create jobs for the youth. Unemployment benefits (contribution/PAYE-based) for 6 months to a year after minimum one year of Full-time employment and you loose job makes more sense. |
homebuilders:. Dude, people have asked which Shagamu expressway exactly (Lagos-Shagamu, Lagos-Ibadan, and companies or land marks in the area, and price per plot if that option exists. Remember some people originally from that area but never lived there or just random people not familiar with the area may be interested depending on your reply here. |
grimandevil:. I beg to disagree. It doesn't always work that way. A now late friend of mine met a 16-year old girl when he was like 28. The girl looked like 21, he looked like 25. He was her first boyfriend. They married about 3 years later. He was a wonderful and caring guy, that Christian kind of guy, no womanizing, no vices. He was a banker. But that babe cheated on him with a married mutual family friend/father of many kids WHILE SHE WAS MANY MONTHS PREGNANT! She subsequently filed for divorce. Oh boy, we were all shocked. Till date, she can't give any reason why she did it. |
Like Jethro said, practice. Do market research. But vegetable like Okro & tomato might do well there. OP, is it the same Ogbese that straddles Ondo & Edo States? Would you want to sell a few acres thereof? Thanks. |
So you're only worried about possible preggy & her dad's action, not the deed itself. Not cool. |
Two work colleagues, both my managers then asked me this question. I gave them both vague answers just to keep them guessing. I knew one liked me very much. I thought the second manager was scoping on behalf of her colleague. In fact the second manager surprised my by saying she chatted about me with a former coursemate, who was now a TV producer. That her friend would visit our workplace on a particular day. And she came. The TV lady concluded and told me that the way ladies were swarming around me in my workplace, that I must be a player. Actually, the opposite was the case. The reason girls liked me was that I never ask work colleagues out. My own principle. If I did them any favour, I never asked for anything in return. Many girls like a guy who's helpful but doesn't pester them. Moreover, I was quite happy with my babe. Yes that question usually indicate some interest in your person. |
I think it really depends. Virtually everybody's dad or granddad has a fairly large house in the village. In my village 4 to 12-rooms ancestral homes are the norm. Some have even more rooms. I don't have a house in the village but the village family home has been modernised with similar furnishing/comfort like in the city. Light is even more reliable in the village. Even if war/crisis breaks out in the city, family village home is comfy enough to escape to. ![]() So city is it for now. ROI is just better. But village lands in strategic locations are in the portfolio. One can build a country home for retirement at a leisurely pace, by God's grace. . |
RaptorX:. My dear, if you call your new coat a piece of rag, others will help you use it to wipe the floor-a modified 9ja proverb. If we africans values ourselves/lives, others will value us too. Let's wait & see how many foreign leaders will march in Nairobi. |
Lesgupnigeria:. Ok do you have a thread that already breaks down the above procedure? So you don't keep repeating it here. Because I like to know about profitability in the first year, whether the cost can be paid in instalments, etc. Though I remember World1's thread on plantain village with 650k/acre. |
netmillionaires:. Ok. A man lives abroad. He has not visited his wife in 9ja in 3 years. But one day he invites his friends in his diaspora base to celebrate the birth of his new baby in 9ja. Good 3 years after he left her behind. IVF was still not common then in 9ja. So how did she conceive? |
Lesgupnigeria:. Thanks for the encouragement. Please tell me the cost involved per acre of plantain if you were to manage it from A to Z for someone faraway, including marketing/sale. What would be your compensation/commission? |
Well, it doesn't surprise me anymore. Apparently, it's quite acceptable in a certain 9ja culture, at least in some areas of that broad cultural group. A colleague's brother who had been abroad for about 3 years once called us to celebrate the birth of his child in 9ja. Most of us knew he was NOT settled enough yet to be able to travel back home. In fact nobody remembers him been a way from that city for straight 3 days let alone out of the country. He was still processing documents. One indiscreet bubbly guy asked why he didn't tell us he was travelling home 9 months ago. We had to quickly nudge him to seal his loud mouth! .We were later informed that as long as he paid the dowry/bride price and did traditional rights, all kids from the woman are his irrespective of biological dad. |
na wa o. |
I'm about starting one in South South. Although, I actually wanted a piece of the action in your area, especially using this hybrid plantain but logistics/distance & others proved a problem. And I think it's rather late to join your side now. |

ronald4lif:. Well, marriage/love has helped millions of women. Since eternity. What guarantee is there to land a good job with her Master's later? Not all women with successful careers also succeed in love/marriage. It depends on her. If at 27 she feels marriage can wait or she can live with just a successful career if needs be, no problem. I think discussing with the guy about starting her part-time PG in say 2 or 3 years would be an option. If the guy believes FE is no option, then she has to choose. She might even land a good job in the next 2 or 3 years without PG. |
