The $1 million dollar question. sadly there is nothing we can do. especially when we continue to intellectualize issues so often.

Look at this thread from top to bottom, all intelligent-sounding people and to all purposes and intent, patriotic ones.

But then, there has never been a shortage of intellectuals and technocrats in Nigeria. we have some of the best minds from politics to technology.
Imagine a committee made up of barely university-graduate politicians who barely know the first word in electricity, hounding and lambasting a group of harvard's best on the
proper cost estimates of generating adequate power supply. and here we are today, after billions of US dollars, it cost Nigerians N796.4 billion on fuel to generate electric power that is what is projected as how much it
will take to generate 6kmgwatts that we need from PHCN. (NERC)

So you see, it is not by our actions to vote that results in the leaders we have. your vote counts for nothing when the electoral process is just a facade to hide the real intentions of our old-but-young democracy. an excuse to embezzle state funds using legal infrastructures.

Back to the question, what can we do?

How many people do you think Oni has sent to their graves either directly (killing them or ordering them killed) or indirectly (diverting government monies meant for the state into private accounts)

Do you for one minute think you can reason with these people on some logical and intellectual level?

I see a lot of nigerian youths with brilliant minds coming up with brilliant ideas and putting them at the feet of amazingly dim and wicked leaders to facilitate such ideas to fruition.

it is just like an old saying, you do not wear a gold-ring on the nose of a pig.

Wise words to a fool feels like whips to his back.

The answer is what we fear and you and I know it. the only way Nigerians will have a chance to live and sustain this democracy and all the benefits therein. is if our leaders DIE!

Dialogue did not solve the Niger-Delta problem, after all NDDC has been around after billions of Naira later. (where it costs N700 million to assasinate your enemy using voodoo)
gbam!We nigerians can be too academic for our own good.

@Asha80.please are you a politician?Orji is a great son of Southeast and you should not believe what the opposition tells you.How could you wish him death? Why cant you wish death to people like Ojukwu who forced my father(and so many igbos and non-igbo easterners) to go to war against their will armed with dane guns.
Which great son of south east?Abeg tell that to kids.have been to aba lately? All those roads he suppoedly built how are day?If Orji is what a great son of southeast should be like then io am soory for south east.

Please if you have any issue with ojukwu go and deal it with him as he is not the issue here.

@asha80,
where are u from and what have your state achieved? or have u given up on achievements?
i am from imo state but i love abia state. i love orji uzor kalu and i love the support he gets from the real abians.
if we the igbos will make abia our headquarter, we will have reason to laugh.
since 1999, abia has stood her ground in saying no to the holy beast(obj).
we must understand that obj stole all the oil wells that belonged to the state(abia) and gave them to akwa ibom until yar adua reversed that decission. abia state's inherited debts from the former imo state were being forcefully deducted from abia state's allocation during obj's dictorship just to make the state suffer for not licking his filthy shoes.
orji uzor kalu, the pillar of sports has remained the most outsanding igbo man in the fight against obj's slave trade.
abia state hsld be used as a case study for other igbo states in our fight for independence.
My friend if do not have avything better to stay go siddon for gutter. When last have you been to aba?Are you proud of what you see there?

Real abians support OUK my foot.As if sports is what will drive the economy of abia state.

And i am from imo state.

Senator laments low birth rate among Ndigbo
Latest News Oct 6, 2009 By Dennis Agbo

ABAKALIKI—THE  present low birth rate in most Igbo families, has become a thing of worry to the Senate Vice Committee Chairman on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Anthony Agbo.

According to Senator Agbo, unless the Igbos step-up their procreation rate by having more children, rather than restraining themselves to fewer children, the Igbos may in the nearest future become endangered specie in the Nigeria polity.

Agbo laments that whereas other tribes or race in the country have continued to increase their population by taking more wives and giving birth to many children, the Igbo have restrained themselves to one man, one wife, lamenting further that even in the case of one man one wife, the Igbo couples have resorted to the western life of having only one or two children.

Agbo said he was not oblivious of the economic situation, especially in the face of global meltdown, but that he is more worried that it   was even the affluent families of Ndigbo that have decided to have fewer children,  appealing to the Ndigbo to increase their population since politics is all about number.

The Senator representing Ebonyi North senatorial district said, “among all the problems that have bedeviled the Igbo man, the greatest of them which I am seeing now is the danger of population.”

This Senator can give birth to as much as 10 children as he wants and not disturb us with with his cave mentality.

Well Saga you are right.

However i hate all this debate about being educated or not educated.I am of the school of thought that basic education is that from nursery to secondary which i feel should be compulsory.Anything after that should be left for the individual to decide according to his or her dreams.

One thing i never do is look down on someone without university degree. What i look out for is what that person has done with his or her life as far as the person is into something legitimate.

To be honest with you this my mindset changed when i came to europe. Not all persons without 'education' are successful in life and not all 'uneducated' guys are failures.

I mean look at the pakistanis in Uk for example.
Business › Re: This Man Built A House, Raised 2 Graduates Selling Chewing Sticks by asha80(m): 1:07pm On Oct 05, 2009
Na wa for nigerians and tribalism.

Anyway this is my take on this constant debate on yoruba vs igbo education even though i believe peeps from edo have a higher educated guys per head when compared to the other two groups

Yorubas are generally more into service oriented jobs while igbo guys are more into running their own individual biz or outfit because they generally do not like working for someone.

I will not use head of organisation or company to judge because yorubas have this affinity for bureaucratic jobs and are likely to continue to go to the top of organistion or company while their igbo counterpat is more likely to go out and run his own outfit or biz because of the same individualistic tag they are known for.

Meaning a igbo guy that is on the same level as a yoruba guy educationally is likely to choose running his own biz outfit or firm no matter how small it is than seeking to get to the top of bigger company or firm as manager for that company or someone.
