Politics › Re: Femi Adesina: Bandits Are Criminals, Not Terrorists by Asour: 4:25pm On Oct 30, 2021
Depressed101:
he's not technically correct anything, or you don't read?

A UN panel, on March 17, 2005, described terrorism as any act "intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act.”

On the italized don't they compel the government to pay up on ramsome, don't they compare the government not to fly over their forest zones or else they will shoot their planes down, have they not blown government planes up, and just recently blew a train up?
I'm afraid you don't know what compelling meant there.

Compelling refers to an action to further the terrorists' AGENDA.

There are no terrorists without AGENDAS in the world. A crime is NOT an agenda on its own.
The Agenda IS the goal the terrorists use to achieve there agendas by coercion. That's what compelling means.

Again Every Terrorist group has an agenda (a goal) which they usually use crimes to try to achieve.
For the bandits, this is not clear. They (for now) give the impression as ragtag Kidnappers just like those previously in the East or southern Nigeria.

ISWAP, BH, ISIS, etc. All have agendas they FURTHER through crimes & non recognition for constituted authority.

It's not clear what the broad agenda of these bandits are.
And don't say to terrorize citizens. That's not an agenda.

God help us.

femi adesina is a fool, bloody one.. Look here what the UN defines Terrorists as,and tell me bandits don't fit the description
Technically, he is correct by the definition you raised though.
It's not clear (never been) that the bandits have a political agenda /motive. Neither have they 'forced ' the government to do anything or not do.

Notwithstanding, they are clearly evil. That's why I don't like these 'international' semantics.

What's happening with these bandits in the north has happened in the East /western Nigeria in the Past. This is just more intense kidnapping.

Lagos has enough money to rival any city in the world but for the senile drug lord whose company is in charge of collecting taxes and remitting huge percentage to him.

But his urchins here on Nairaland have refused bury their heads in shame and accept that Lagos will be better for it the day it displaces Tinubu from its business.

Just look at a road in our almighty Lagos looking like a road in Osogbo.

Eko ti baje!
Lagos doesn't have enough to rival any city in the world. Unless of course you mean that the state has the funds to do [ this ] road.

Even if Lagos is a Top 50 City in the World by Budget (it is most likely not), it'll fall gravely low on a per Capita basis.

Most people don't know that Nigeria is far from being a Rich country on a per head basis.
But may God help us.

True. Not everyone.

But the average Nigerian lacks integrity specifically Financial integrity AKA credit worthiness.
We are also a relatively poor country.

Very bad combination.
Unfortunately capital goes where it'll be preserved better. Some 'big men' still get credit though.

When he traveled to China, he must have known nobody and went their to make a reputation for himself

That's just the spirit of being igbo
It also helps that all Igbo states have received 'Billions' in allocation over the last 5 decades since
The war. That might have helped too right?

Igbos (like other Nigerians) have been free to own assets & operate businesses everywhere across the country as if no war happened. This too might have helped.

And yes they (Igbos ) are resourceful.

The easiest way for Biafra to come is by producing an Igbo president which is what the SE should focus on first every other thing will fall in order. All these sit at home will help for a while but not in the long run of achieving Biafra.

Meanwhile Abaribe is a strong man Shehu Sani shouldn't be scared. grin
I'm all for the happiness of everyone but,
My question on Biafra is that if it materializes, would the Igbos who are not in support be allowed to live & hold assets /dual citizenship in Nigeria too.

Especially seeing that Igbos are well travelled people. Or would they see these privileges withdrawn as we've seen in some other African countries e.g. Ghana. What are the implications for Igbos in companies in 'Nigeria' seeing that the International /foreign rules would apply to them too.

To be honest though, the President doesn't have to understand all there is to the crypto. Not many understand truly what this is either.
Heck, even the CBN governor is almost certainly NOT a crypto expert.

The human mind is incapable of understanding every specialized area of human endeavour. That why we have professionals.

He just needs to 'appreciate' its (cryptos) benefits & implications from his appointed professionals.

Shakira and Gerard Piqué have been married for about 10 years now, Shakira is Older than Piqué and there's been no bad news about them(none that I know of).
Macron is way younger than his wife and younger than her children.
I think what you should be more concerned about is respect, do you both respect eachother regardless of the age difference? Even if you're older and neither of you respects the other, it might not work unless you both enjoy violence.
Personally, respect and other stuff are what I consider and not the age (especially if the age gap isn't much).
Anyway, no be Piqué, Macron and other people go decide for you.
What do you both want? How do you treat eachother?
Sorry to burst your bubble but Shakira & Pique are actually NOT married.

Macron is very much an outlier and should not be used for any sane decision making.

There's NO region with more military presence than the North/North east today.

And the painful thing is that the fools among us who collect 30k from these bad politicians would come here to defend their masters and even tag this thing to party.

There are also equally bad schools in the self governed east.

Let's not forget that Lagos was a national capital for 30 years and prior to that was a colonial annexe. That's why lots of people are there, otherwise it would have been as quiet as Ondo state for instance.
Calabar was also a colonial annex / capital for ~ 20 or more years. Why aren't we all 'rushing' there.

Many people make this 'claim' that Lagos 'greatness' was brought about by others (usually non-indigenes) the way they make the claim about the USA's greatness being attributable to foreigners. But they miss out on a vital point. That Lagos provides an environment to this people that they 'lacked' prior.

The question then becomes why can't the foreigners replicate this greatness in their places of Origins. Why?

In the last decade, some (few) SS & SE states earned more revenue per head than Lagos due to population. What has come out of such 'advantages'.
