Does being a muslim make one perform better as a leader or London Mayor? People with real executive power struggle to do well in a democracy not to talk of one whose functions are mainly limited to Transport and the Police. Besides, he has the misfortune of being elected when the nasty Tories control the centre. Sadiq Khan is no Ken Livingstone so people should not expect too much from him. Wishing him the best of luck though. |
Neither can he do it through the selective prosecution of the corrupt. A situation that has led to people like Atiku Abubakar walking free when he should be in jail for being one of the most corrupt in Nigeria. |
Executive should not take it upon itself to tell judges what to do in a court of law. So the EFCC wants to be judge and jury?.Judges are not interested in propaganda or character assassination of opposition. Once judges are not free to deal with the law and interpret it the way it should be interpreted-out of fear of the executive-then we are into full blown dictatorship. EFCC can engage in verbal accusations as much as it likes, but what matters is cold incontrovertible evidence properly presented leading to the establishment of guilt before a judge. Until that happens, all Nigerians are presumed innocent by the constitution. EFCC needs to raise its game rather than investing in blame game. And the President must not use it as a cover to score cheap political points. |
I`m always in support of going abroad after graduation. Of paramount importance is whether your cousin can help you with your resident permit. If your cousin cannot guarantee that you would not have paper issue, then stay in Nigeria. London is no paradise, but the nursing profession is one in which you will almost certainly be able to find job Too risky to let Nigeria be the only source of your income. Not all the guys in power today would be in power tomorrow. You can become a lecturer but you cannot do anything about unpaid salaries by your employer or frequent strikes that make no sense. You make one mistake that your superior feels offended by, your career may be over in Nigeria. Let me repeat, London is no paradise, but you are still young; the perfect time to spread your professional wings a little bit, unless your cousin is not sure of you living legally in the United Kingdom. Good luck |
Still not good enough! |
maternal:Enoch Powell was quoted to have said the same in 1968. He was the first British Politician to use immigration as a political football. So when did the UK become full, in 1968 or earlier this year? |
marylandcakes:Stephen Lawrence was slaughtered by racist yobs, and police started to fail in their duty to arrest and prosecute the killers. His parents had to suffer for almost a decade before police eventually did their job Mark Duggan was executed by the police in broad-day light because they suspected he was carrying a gun and going to rob somebody. Police started to lie from the spot of execution. The gun found metres away was believed to have been planted by the police So the commonality between these two cases is what everybody in london knows namely, that the Metropolitan Police is not only incompetent but institutionally racist. |
Nothing is impossible through the mouths of Nigerian politicians. |
ferpozie:Oh absolutely!! Russians and Nigerians are very much present in Knightsbridge. I mention Knightsbridge because that is the most popular place for Arab billionaires along with Kessington and Chelsea as well as Fulham-these are some of the most expensive areas in London. But if you are not a miliionaire you can move away from zone 1 to other zones, zone 3 or 4 for instance. So the further you go the cheaper. Your bank balance determines where you invest. |
CFCman:Once you get to America, that is another kettle of fish entirely. You know I was comparing London with the rest of Europe. One of the reasons why London power elites feel uncomfortable with the EU is that the European Union is the only obstacle stopping them from becoming America. I described the two of them as an apartheid society, but the degree still varies. But the way things are going, it won`t be long before London catches up with America. London graduates now leave school with over £40,000 debts on their necks, so sooner or later London would catch up. |
ferpozie:To be honest with you, the houses those guys are buying are mostly in Knightsbridge area, so they don`t bother the common man. Don`t forget that most of them buy those property in collaboration with London political elites; they rarely buy without local partners. |
grandstar:Steady on! Should Malians and Ghanaians give birth in Nigeria, those children are Nigerians, so you can`t treat them as foreigners. |
erico2k2:Then you moved to Haringey? What a progress. Have a wonderful evening! |
gypsey:Yoruba folks are on JSA? I guess time to wish you good night! |
gypsey:Why not, those doing it are human beings. They may actually be better than you-from the look of things |
erico2k2:I thought where I`m is so important for you that you asked so what are you now angry about? |
gypsey:You don`t need to believe it! |
erico2k2:I`m actually in Blackfriars right now. |
STILESGANG:Maybe you want to check that properly, I actually under-estimated it |
erico2k2:This is the problem: so Jean Charles de Menedes is to blame for his own execution in Stockwell? And when South Yorkshire police lied for 27 years to cover up blatant injustice, police are not to blame. Trust me, the British society is a broken society and virtually every level of it is institutionally racist. Most of us don`t know it because Nigerians only mind our own business. Did you hear of the guys that worked at the 2012 Olympics and yet to collect their wages up until today? Well, they are all from South-East Asia. |
erico2k2:I definitely wasn`t around 30 years ago, but around enough to know that the more the impression of change the more things seem to remain the same. Stephen Lawrence mum would say that because she is now a Dame. Do you think the family of Mark Duggan would accept that things have changed in Tottenhan? Where do you think Stephen Lawrence is buried today and why? So they stabbed him to death and rubbished his burial place so his dad has to take his body to Jamaica. We don`t need to argue about London because certain things are beyond argument. The London of 1960s that our parents lived in is just slightly different from that of today. |
jaybee3:Be honest with me; since the release of Macpherson report that described The Metropolitan Police as institutionally racist, has anything changed in London with regard to how blacks in London are treated? Today, the Met has just over 3000 officers from the minority groups, that is 11% of the Met. BMG in london is over 40%. So what has changed since the death of Stephen Lawrence? Do you see my point? They like to deceive us that something has changed, but it hasn`t. The population of London is roughly 8 million, over 40% of which are minorities, why should the Metropolitan Police have 11% minorities in the force? You can see that there is no targeted recruitment; it doesn`t exist. |
jaybee3:Any examples of such positive discrimination initiatives to negate the effects of institutional racism in London? |
greatfa2013:Thanks for that! |
jaybee3:Have you heard of institutional racism before? |
RichYoungNigger:Please!!!! |
JohnnyBling:Ha ha, that one? Igalo is almost a Watford legend then. Case closed |
The article is misleading in many ways. It`s true that Nigerians do menial jobs, but that is just one side of the story. Whether it`s in law, medicine and broadcasting, Nigerians are well represented; so is not just about shop assistants and security guards. Oh yes, Yoruba would be about 70% of the Nigerians in London if not more than that. To be fair to the British, they need to be tough on immigration because everybody wants to be in London, partly because of the language, but mostly for economic reasons. But the most important reason is the hype and propaganda. I have always believed that your European journey is incomplete until you`ve been to London. I can say without any fear of contradiction that it`s the most un-equal society in Western Europe when you compare and contrast the standard of living with other EU countries. The poor mostly live in one area while the rich are concentrated in another, even if not exclusively so. Then whatever you buy in London, and I mean virtually everything, is going to be twice the price paid in the rest of Europe, apart from Switzerland. And oh, pest-infested flats are not difficult to come by so are the ones with leaking roofs. Looking for something decent would mean that almost 70% of your wages would be going on housing. Don`t panic, their Prime Minister has one house he is renting out in Notting Hill, just be ready to pay him £1,800 per week, while your salary is likely to be less than £1000 per month. There is no country in Western Europe that would have a Chief Executive that is collecting salaries 128 times that of his/her average staff, but that is the case with most of the FTSE 100 companies in the City. All in all, it`s a country worth visiting; because it helps you to know what leadership is all about. |
JohnnyBling:Legendary based on what? On his heroics at the World Cup or Champions League? My brother, he is over-hyped and over-paid because he is white and Daniel Sturrige is black. Maria Sharapova is the highest paid female tennis player for the same reason. Or is that also based on her legendary status ahead of Serena? |
ilawanson44:Stop being pedantic!! It`s received not receive in that sentence. |
snailspeed:You deserve one million likes for this! |
JohnnyBling:Ha ha, Daniel Sturridge is British and scores whenever he plays, but he is paid £120,000 per week. I`m sure you know where I`m going. |
