Romance › Re: I Am 21 But Already Feeling The Pressure Badly by Atreides(f): 10:10pm On Jan 20, 2011
OP i understand exactly how you feel. I mean it's very easy to say don't give in to peer pressure but when you actually face it it's a different thing entirely. I'm younger than you are,but i've been there/still am there sometimes. It's like wherever you look, everyone's paired up and you feel this powerful urge to be part of that unit called a couple. I totally know how that feels like, but another thing i also know is that peer pressure is surmountable. I think the fact that you've been in two serious r/ships already is kinda disturbing(but that's just me). You have to figure out whether you're ready for a r/ship now or not. It shouldn't be because you want to fit in or because you wanna say 'oh there's my boyfriend'. You need to figure out what you want, and you need to be convinced about it. Convinction/truly believeing in what you're doing is very important,IMO. If you're convinced that staying single is the best thing for you right now, then dealing with peer pressure will be much easier. If you're convinced that you're ready to be with someone, then go for it. The point is,you have to know what you want/need,and you have to do what's best for you.

Guilty as charged! I really think the Aladura way might work, too. grin grin I've already given her my serious advice. At least it's better than all the swears/curses she's been collecting.

Ujujoan:
I think you got it a bit wrong, the men are her brothers-in-law, not her brothers . . .  so technically, this it NOT inbreeding!

As for the abuse aspect, she didn't start doing it until she was 20 so I don't think that counts. Besides by her own admission, she only slept with the older man because he was always buying her gifts . . . .  undecided

What you need is deliverance . . .  undecided
I know technically it isn't inbreeding, but it's sick and wrong. If there's no abuse involved,i think she's a very, very sick person. I think she needs deliverance. 5 days of fasting and prayer with all those Aladura people would do the trick. Bet they could flog the sickness out of her,and then she can see a shrink or something. Personally,i'm more in favore of the Aladura option. I have sisters, and what she's doing to hers is just wrong on soo many levels. I wouldn't mind flogging her meself.

Romance › Re: I Am Doing Something Abominable And I Know But I Need Help by Atreides(f): 3:00pm On Jan 20, 2011
When i first opened this topic,i was ready to call down fire and brimstone on the OP. I was ready to lay curses on her for the abomination she's commiting. But then it hit me-Inbreeding is sick and wrong. No normal person will do what she has done, which begs the question,is she really normal? Psychologically/Mentally i mean? I then went to re-read the whole thing and then i saw the part where she said her elder sister's husband seduced her with drinks when she was 20,and that he still sleeps with her every now and then against her will. Isn't that rape? She said she'd been living with them since she was 17 and then i asked myself, what if the guy had been abusing her or something? We don't know for a fact that he did abuse her,but if he did then i can see how that would make her amenable to the idea of sleeping with another brother-in-law. My advice would be to get out of their house(s) ASAP. Try and convince your sisters to rent a place for you near school. Next,if you're a religious person,go to GOd for delliverance. If not,see a therapist. There is something seriously wrong with you, psychologically speaking. At least you've made the first step-you've realised that what you're doing is abominable and you want to stop. You may be telling yourself that you're in love with the second brother-inlaw just to make the situation more excusable. Even if you truly love(and i use that phrase in the loosest possible way),consider this. Can you love a man who is not only cheating on his wife, but doing it with her sister? Is that honestly the kind of man you want to be with? What kind of future do you have with him? What would your family say if they found out? How would your nieces/nephews treat you if this abomination comes to light? How would your sisters react? Would they scream, cry, break down? Will you be able to live with yourself? You need help,OP. And i hope you get it.

That i have to give her an ultimatum: Tell someone or i will. Just thinking about it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I guess on some level i've always known it would come to this-i just didn't want to tell on her. Everybody here(especially chaircover) has been really helpful, kinda reminding me of what i'd always known i would have to do. We have to tell someone-and if she can't do it,i will. I know it's what's best and i know she shouldn't even have put me in this position, but it still feels like c.rap.

Well kissing, infact, not just kissing-having a 'full make-out session' with someone on the first date does seem somehow. The fact that he's a bad boy doesn't necessarily mean he's playing her. After all, reformed rakes make the best boyfriends,no? I think she should just keep things flirty for now, hold out a little longer-if she really wants them to start something. If he wants them to start something too then at some point he'll make a move.

Druss:
The reason why I said I aint ever gonna argue is simple

- At 17 to 20, the human child feels they know everything. They have read wide, they have seen some of the world. They are getting to the adult age.
- It is hard enough arguing with a woman but with a 17 yr old one!! GOD FORBID!! I am almost twice that age, I have a wife and lawd knows high blood pressure is real and is a biaatcch!!
- I would rather wait till you experience more of life then this would make more sense. Till then , I aint gonna yarn nada!!
Lwkmd. . Funny guy. . High blood pressure ehn? Oh well. You know what they say-Never argue with a girl cos she'll always win. grin grin grin. P.s-I like how even though you obviously don't agree with me,you weren't rude about it. And don't worry, you don't need to say nuthin. Better safe than sorry,eh? grin grin grin

@Druss,i don't want to argue with you either! Matter of fact,i don't want to argue with anyone-it's just there are some things you can't ignore. And i like the fact that you said 'doesn't mean a girl should date a poor guy'. And i also agree that she shouldn't be with him more because of the money than because of the guy himself, because at the end of the day money can't buy happiness.

It does as a matter of fact. How does a school girl get to know about all these things if she has not been playing way way out of her league. From your male classmates?

Stop obsessing over sex. I know this is prolly pretty hard for you to grasp, but not everybody's doing it. In any case,no matter what i say, you'll still see what you want to see and you'll still believe what you wanna believe. So here's a newsflash-believe what you want to believe, kay? This is a quote from a schoolgirl that seemingly has already started sleeping around and appears fascinated with bad guys not knowing that this fascination was caused by the evil linkage which came about when she gave up her virginity to a player.

And what do novels or friends have to with me believing that marriage is a serious commitment? Excuse me for thinking it's wrong to just walk out on a commitment you made just because you don't feel like it anymore.
hasyak:
She has said she is not happy, she has made mistake, so you want her to die for it? the world is not perfect and we have such a short time to live so if she is not happy let her leave.
Well my own opinion is that she should honor the commitment she's made. As long as he's not abusing her in any way and he's a good guy,i think she shoould try harder.
Romance › Re: Did I Marry The Wrong Person? by Atreides(f): 12:51pm On Jan 18, 2011
People need to stop viewing marriage as transitory, something they can walk out of whenever they feel like it. Marriage is a sacred bond of union, and she needs to respect it. As long as the man isn't abusing her in any way or being unfaithful, then she cannot just get up and say oh i'm tired after barely two months of being with him. She knew she wasn't in love with him before she married him. She knew what she was going into when she married him and now she just wants to up and leave the guy? A guy who has married her and is trying to build his home,a guy who probably loves her a great deal-she just wants to destroy his happiness because she's tired of making an effort after barely 2 months? That's not just selfish-it's cruel. She needs to realize that she must live up to her responsibilities and do the right thing. She has made her bed and so she must lie on it.
