Meklex:
why can't you differentiate between what the poster is tryna say from that crap you just posted, let me ask this question should a father see his daughter's nudity? How many times have you undressed in front of your mother? The Op's father invading(checking on) her privacy doesn't include he should also see her nudity and probably touch, Yes for the fact he is a father doesn't mean he should watch p.orn with her daugher's body, men are men and we behave irrationally, my advice.
Do you mind him? What does changing have to do with privacy? As long as im a female teenager with boobs and whatnot,i cannot change in front of my father. He even knocks before he enters my room in case im changing or something.

@Wumine,you're getting it all wrong. Me saying if i wanted to be rotten i would be doesnt mean i want to be rotten. It means that regardless of my dad's protectiveness,i will make a choice as to who ill turn out to be. I choose to be the way i am because i have plans for my life, for my future and because i am not gonna mess that up,not because im afraid of daddy or because he's overprotective. At some point or the other i will leave home and go out into the world. If i was being a good girl because of my daddy, then what happens when he's not there? Dont you think id get drunk on my new-found freedom and do crazy things? But because being a 'good girl' is a decision ive made for me and for no one else, whether im at home or im anywhere else ill continue doing the right thing because its something i believe in. I choose to be 'good',and that choice determines how i live my life-not because daddy will flog me or worreva. That choice is the reason why i would never rebel just to make a point, because i cannot take that kinda risk with my future. Its not that i want to be rotten or anything, because i dont.

He'll never be comfortable enough to ask me anything about boys. And i definitely wouldnt be comfortable talking to him about one Chike who toasted me or one guy i like. It would be beyond awkward!!!

and why would you want to be rotten? huh

what's the gain there.

imo, if he's paying the phone bill, he did nothing wrong.

even if he isnt paying the bill sef.
I dont want to be rotten. Im not gonna rebel just to make a point because i would be hurting myself in the process. If i decide to start being intimate with guys and then get knocked up,who is gonna carry the pregnancy? Him or me? If i decide to smoke pot and then add weight and then become anorexic and then starve myself how does that prove anything? If im on crack and i O.D,what point am i proving? The whole if i wanted to be rotten bit was just to show that im the way i am because im thinking of the beautiful future i know i'll have and i dont want to mess that up-not because im afraid of daddy or because he's being over-protective. Whether he's protective or not,im gonna end up being who i choose to be,bad or good. And he is NOT paying my phone bills. He's not even the one who bought the phone for me.

@Omega,im under 18 buh i pay my phone bills. He always says that if you cant afford to maintain a phone then dont get one. I know all about sexting(i think its incredibly s.tupid,by the way) and the naughty things kids do with their phones buh i dont do that. This is where trust comes in. If he had any kind of trust in the kinda daughter he's raising then he wouldnt go to that extent. Thats the crux of the matter-he just doesnt trust me.
Family › Is It Right For A Dad To Go Through His Daughter's Phone? Could He Be Any More Overbearing? by Atreides(op): 7:56pm On Dec 30, 2010
Ok so today i was watching tv and then my dad sent me on an errand. I didnt take my phone with me(looking back now,i cannot understand what possessed me to leave it behind),and when i came back i met him sitting down, calmly going through my phone. I dont have anything nasty on my phone-no lurid pics or vids, but i dont delete text messages. Thats the only 'incriminating' thing on my phone. I knew he'd read my messages because he had the 'boy' look(the one where his face gets hard and his eyes turn red if anyone so much as mentions boy). He then began his favorite lecture-the one about my education,my future, blah blah blah, completely glossing over the fact that he invaded my privacy. The worst part is that i dont even have a secret boyfriend. Heck,i dont have any kind of boyfriend, secret or public, and he was lecturing me for something im not even doing. The most painful aspect is that we get along swimmingly, but when it comes to boy mata,he is obsessed with protecting my virtue or worreva, completely overlooking the fact that if i wanted to be rotten i would be rotten, overprotective parent or not. Do you think it was right for him to go through my phone? P.s-Sorry for the long post. I needed to rant.

Olorun ma je!!! I reject it in Jesus name, amen! Obviously,i think its insane. And dont place the blame on the parents alone. Yes,sometimes they are at fault but there are some bad-head children who will do everything wrong even though they were raised right. And even if your parents dint do as good of a job as they should've,getting pregnant in your teens isnt the solution to the problem. Its incredibly stupid, good parents or not.

Romance › Re: Do You Think Its Possible For A Teenager To Truly Fall In Love? by Atreides(op): 8:32am On Dec 29, 2010
I do get what you're saying-that we can feel certain things whether we want to or not, regardless of wether we'd known we could feel them or not. . So maybe i shouldnt say love is dependent on self-awareness. But even if love were possible without self-awareness,then what kinda love would it be? I dont think a r/ship where the me gets swallowed in the us,a r/ship in which i have no identity would be a healthy one. And i do think its possible to choose who we fall in love with. Not the falling in love part, but the events that lead up to it can be molded and changed. Afterall, there is no love at first sight,no? I will not see a truck pusher and say oh i love him and i cant change that. Before love comes in,there must be a choice. In my case that choice would be to never even look in such a person's direction, talkless of having feelings. When its still at the stage of attraction/having feelings then you can make a choice to let yourself feel further or to break away(by cutting contact and whatnot). And even if it gets to love, you still have the chance to choose not who you're in love with but what you're gonna do about it. In fact sef,i think that as long as you choose who you date, you choose who you commit to,then on some level or the other you do choose who you fall in love with-or at least you choose a set of circumstances that'll make it possible for love to grow. P.s-Lotsa technical terms here. . Ive never heard the word 'limbic' in my life(of course that could be because i always zone out in bio). . Is there a doctor/shrink in the house?
It's a thread for teenagers, I feel so old in here.  grin tongue

Well, yes, teenagers are capable of being in love/Loving.
Would you laugh if you were told that even babies are capable of loving/ being in love, too? Yes, they actually are.  . . . . Age is not a determinant.
It's however a different thing to say the word Love is often misused and many teenagers find it difficult to distinguish love from other seeming pleasant feelings at a given point.
Even here, I'D also like to point out that, not only teenagers are guilty, some seeming adults are also culprits.

Emotions belong to the peripheral nervous system and teenagers have brains -> PNS.
Since The brain is responsible for all emotions without age specification or limitation of certain emotions except damage is done, if teenagers feel emotions like pain, fear, anger etc, they should/ Must be able to feel love/be in love too.

I had my first and only committed relationship at age 17 and 'many' years after, I still reminisce and say bodly I was in love.

It's understandable if You say most teenagers are incapable of handling the complexity of Love [Not all adults can, either].
Wrong!
Love is not dependent on self-awareness
NO old people allowed! P.s-Old is 28 and above. . Hehehe. We're gonna have to agree to disagree here-i think you have to have some level of self-awareness to take on something as complex as a r/ship. If you dont know who you are then you can lose yourself in the r/ship. Oh and i didnt say ALL teenagers are incapable of falling in love,i said except on very rare occcasions, they arent capable of it. You had your first and ONLY committed r/ship at 17? *gasp*. . Wetin happen?

Ok maybe i need to chill, its not like i've ever felt it before. Have you ever been heartbrokenhuh embarassed
Oh i dont think its possible for a teenager to feel love either,im jus saying its very possible for them to feel lust/physical attraction. If by 'it' you mean have i ever had a crush or drooled(i use that for dramatic emphasis) over a guy's rockin' bod or married an imaginary celeb husband(dont tell anyone buh im the future Mrs. Banky W),then hells yeah,i've felt 'it'. However,i dont date. And ive never been heartbroken-because i havent fallen in love(and i dont think ill be doing that any time soon) before so how the heck would someone break my heart?

@Amarachi,if you dont feel anything,if there's not a part of you that's a little curious then not doing it wont be a challenge. It wont be difficult because you dont feel anything and if you dont feel anything then there's nothing to fight. That you get a but worked up every now and then doesnt mean you must satisfy those urges. Its facing something difficult, wanting something and yet being strong enough to fight it,that is what builds true strength of character. And if you get so Hot you sha.g everything shaggable, then of course you need to get a life.
Romance › Re: Do You Think Its Possible For A Teenager To Truly Fall In Love? by Atreides(op): 4:34pm On Dec 28, 2010
@Amarachi,its not about being more educated or not. The fact is that ALL teenagers feel certain things when puberty hits. Where education and the individual's mentality comes into it is in deciding what to do about those feelings.

Truth be told teenagers just really want to f#*k. . .  Its that simple. as teenagers we are only physically attracted to each other at first, on the long run things may change as maturity set in but before then nko na just knacking spree. . . . the boys get attracted to the next yansh or bosom dey see and the girls nko they look forward to the next cute or muscular guy they set their eyes on. . . .  Eventually we all have a story to tell cos I sure lived mine to the fullest cheesy!
You have a point there-teenagers ARE horn.y. Bloom of youth and all. . I think a lot of us confuse lust/infatuation with love.
