bakynes: You tried but do you know it's a two party agreement, bilateral relationship between two nations, even the UN cannot force Nigeria to sign bilateral agreements with Biafra.
It is a completely different scenario when two nations separate from each other in not a peaceful manner.
Nigeria controls ECOWAS so don't expect ECOWAS to be on your side. Remember the blockage from Cameroon during the Civil War.
The Land use act solely rest the land on the hands of the state. The Land use act for Foreigners is different from Citizens. Why do you think Lagos state enforces all residents to pay the Land use charge if not will have you evicted from the house you built with your money.
Getting Biafra is like Denouncing the Nigerian citizenship so therefore all rights accused to Citizens is hereby withdrawn.
Even Britain leaving the EU has made EU to now introduce trade tarrifs on the UK,one that used to be free trade zone. Now they have to pay heavily to get products and goods into Britain. You are ignorant. Britain left the EU last year in a referendum, but at the moment, Britain is still a full member of the EU fir another 18 months as they discuss the terms of disengagement. If there is a referendum in Igbo land and Igbos vote to be independent, Nigeria has no power to sieze or ask Igbos to return to Igbo land the next day. The Nigerian constitution states that the 3 ways a person can be a Nigerian citizen 1) If they are born in Nigeria 2) If either parents is a Nigerian 3)Naturalization. What no1 means is that since most Igbos were born in Igbo land, they will still hold Nigerian citizenship until the day Igbo land is declared independent of Nigeria and no longer a Nigerian territory. Another thing no 1 means is that Igbos like me who were born outside Igbo land but elsewhere in Nigeria can hold Nigerian citizenship forever (unless citizenship by birth is removed from the constitution) The combination of no1 and no2 means that most Igbos will hold Nigerian citizenship until the day Biafra is declared independent while others such as me can hold Nigerian citizenship indefinitely. But anyone thinking that a referendum result granting Igbos independence automatically means that Igbos can be kicked out of Nigeria and their properties siezed should forget the idea since it would be unconstitutional. |

2. To allow players feed from their effort? Which we have seen in the past 50yrs.
2. To make sure the Biafrans becomes part of suffering Nigerians in years latter ?
3. To Excite the Britons and make sure their Business is protected.
All this and other questions begs for answers.. Its simple, the North wanted to control the political and economic life of Nigeria. Thats the only thing they care about even to this day. Yorubas and the Western Region was a 'walk over' for the North. Only the East under Ojukwu refused refuses to cow or bow down to the North. Thats why there had to be a war. Only people with the heart to fight can confront the North |

NeeKlaus: Yes, they can be sold. Now, picture this rational thought please.
The moment you Igbos eventually get your wish and a referendum is conducted and it goes in your favour, Nigeria will be ordered to sever ties with the SE.
Now, immediately this is achieved, Igbos would become illegal Nationals in Nigeria and will be forced to flee their places of residence to Biafra. In a violence prone place like the North, do you HONESTLY BELIEVE they will have the time to sell their properties before fleeing?? Be very honest because all I can see is Xenophobia being the result in the end.
Many of you don't give thought to these important details of secession. I laugh in Hebrew. It is people like you who dont think. It is not possible for Nigeria to just sever all ties like that, it is not possible. If Igbos get their independence, there will be a 'transition period' when Nigerian and Biafran leaders discuss the terms of disengagement and the sharing of assets and liabilities. But there is something even more important. Since you know that Northern Nigeria is a violent prone area, why do you want Igbos to be doing ONE NIGERIA with violent prone people? Is it not only someone who is living that enjoys properties and assets? |

bankylan: You need to think deep.........When you want self determination, you lose your rights to whatever you own in the present Nigeria. For landlords in Lagos, you lose your property and become illegals in present Nigeria.......The bigger problem is that the Ibos can not live together as one. The Biafra dream does not have the full support of the elites in Ibo land....These Elites will never see Kanu as the one capable of charting the course of their lives. Do you think Jim Ovia and Elumelu will be part of Biafra? I must say this: if Biafra ever comes to fruition, it wont last more than 6 months. I have dealt with some Ibos in time past.....they can't just be together for a common goal. Well I dont k ow what planet you live on but people do not lose their investments foe not being citizens of a country. Igbos will not lose any of their properties, assets or investments because they are protected by international law. If countries could sieze properties just based on citizenship then it means that Ethiopia can sieze Dangote's cement plant in Ethiopia because Dangote is not Ethiopian? It means that Britain can sieze Abuja house where Buhari just came back from because it is owned by Nigeria? If Jim Ovia or Elumelu dont want Biafra, they should campaign for a "no" vote when referendum comes but they must accept however the will of the majority, that is democracy. As for saying that Igbos wont be able to live with themselves is just mere speculation. |

omenkaLives: Good morning.
I come in peace.
For sometime now, concerned observers like myself have been asking some questions about the supposedly unblemished (according to his followers) leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is on record most of these queries, simple as they sound, have been met with nothing but insults. It is my sincere hope this would go differently.
Now, alot have been said about this young man and alot has he said. He is not the first of his kind the world has seen and he certainly wouldn't be the last. What seems, though, to set other secessionist leaders of "freedom fighters" apart from him is that the records of his past are as obscure as they come!
The business of secession is one heck of a serious business whose significance should never be underemphasised. If a country were to break away from Nigeria, I as a patriotic citizen of Nigeria would like to be rest assured I wouldn't end up with some very unstable and aggressive neighbors because that would have undesirable consequences for my own state Security. For this reason, I'd like to have the assurance, no matter how unlikely it is, that such a country is in face hands and being in safe hands implies safe brains.
With this foundation laid, I'd like to know what exactly are Mazi Kanu's educational qualifications and what intellectual property or exploits can we ascribe to him? What schools did Mazi Nnamdi Kanu attend and what grades did he graduate those schools with?
Does Mazi Kanu have any intellectual property, say a book or a publication, to his credit? Has he ever addressed a gathering of intellectuals or scholars?
Kanu says he wants a debate, a renown Igbo man volunteered, and the next thing we hear is "the man isn't intelligent enough!
President Buhari graduated Secondary school probably over 30 years before Kanu did (that is if he did) yet to this day, he's still being abused, notably by IPOB supporters, for not graduating secondary school or at best "presenting a fake WASSC result" where he failed this subject and that.. Can we see copy Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's WASSC result or even a "fake copy" with all the distinctions he had?
Can we have the names or photographs of Kanu's class mates?
The "UK university" Mazi Kanu allegedly attended has either been scrapped or barred from issuing certificates since it didn't meet the bare minimum standards for such institutions in the West. Can we see a copy of the certificate issuedMazi Kanu upon his graduation from that school? Who were his mates in that school?
When questions arose about his previous employment records and attempts were made to answer them without the usual insults, we all know what a disaster that turned out to be as the records revealed a man literally living on the fringes of starvation.
Just as my President was and is still being asked these very important questions, with a full accompaniment of derogatory comments, I imagine it is well within my right to also make such inquiries about the "Supreme Leader" of those who ask similar questions about my country's leader.
Thank you. Perpetual unity begger |

MalcoImX: The leadership defines the followership. To me, what you can do to help Kanu, iPoB and the Biafra cause is by honestly answering some of these questions. Let me put it in laymans terms so you will understand. When Zik was leading his group and agitating for the independence of Nigeria from Britain, would you have asked him any questions? Of course you wouldnt have, because you would have known that Nigeria being independent is the right thing. Fortunately for Zik, he was dealing with the British who are civilised enough to realise that it is not good to hold people against their will indefinitely. Eventually, Nigeria became independent and Nigerians still celebrate this on the 1st of October every year. Well, the same thing applies to Nnamdi Kanu. Just like Zik, Kanu is leading his group to agitate for the independence of the Igbo nation and the minorities who are comfortable with Igbos, to be indeoendent of Nigeria. The only difference is that Kanu is dealing with uncivilised Nigerians who unlike the British, think that holding people against their will is how things are done. If you can understand the right of Nigeria to be independent of Britain then you should have no problem understanding the right of Igbos being independent of Nigeria. |

What is someone who believes in ONE NIGERIA doing in the Biafran Army?
Banjo, Ifeajuna, Mr Abam and Mr Alale all plotted to topple Ojukwu and they were arrested before they could perfect their plan, were tried and executed.
The details of their arrest and excerpts of their trial can be found in "No place to hide: Crises and conflicts inside Biafra"
Banjo was secretly recorded as he plotted to overthrow Ojukwu and paid the price all failed coup plotters pay |

Nigeria too have the right to protect its sovereignty. You dont even know what indigenous is. The tribes who existed before the creation of Nigeria, the original owners of the land. The sovereignty of Nigeria is based on the agreement of the people. Sovereignty comes from the people and the people can withdraw it any time. Those who decide they want their sovereignty back are then given a referendum to test the will of the people same as Britain gave Scotland. |

The best the man could have done was to contact a lawyer, if he thinks his rights had been trampled on. . Third world reasoning. Who told it is a crime to promote secession? It is the right of people to agitate for secession and Nigeria is a signatory to several international laws on the right to self determination.
