There is no such thing as "Niger Deltan". Even Abia state where Kanu comes from is part of the 'Niger Delta' and is an oil producing state.

I don't really know what is happening to this guy. It seems the agitation of a thing has gotten into his head. He is not being diplomatic about what he is fighting for.

If Britain had wanted, they could have said 'the unity of the British empire is not negotiable!'

They would then throw all the nationalist who were agitating for independence like Zik and Awolowo into jail, try them for treason and gun down anyone who came out to protest.

But Britain, being the civilised country it is, knew that it is wrong to hold anyone against their will. So they granted everyone their independence at the appropriate time. Countries like Nigeria, India, Ghana and the rest all got their independence and the British empire was no more.

Britain even allowed its own area, Scotland, a referendum in 2014.

But Nigerians are far from being as civilised as Britain. Thats why Nigeria is still shooting Biafran protesters, detaining and charging Kanu and his supporters to court and stating that "the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable"

If the war was needless, why did you Nigerians come to the East to fight for 3 years? Ojukwu fought for his people, went into exhile, returned later and accepted Nigeria. When he started enjoying his entitlements as a Nigerian such as contesting elections, you haters called him out. So when Ojukwu was for Biafra, you people were against him. When he now was for ONE NIGERIA, you people are still against him. Ojukwu led his people in a fight for freedom and and independence and we make no apologies for it.
